This is a little hand stitched journal is made with recycled papers and cardboard, plus some of my favorite goodies. The faucet from PorkChopShow's etsy shop just fit perfectly with the flowing marble cover paper, so I went with it. I also added some decorative tape. The pages are all recycled book pages, leftover Christmas paper, lettering paper, and I even stitched in little pieces for attaching your own ephemera and special notes. These are tags that I make myself. I use a hand carved rubber stamp that I made to look like an old wood block print and stamp it on book pages that I remove from old books to create my altered books. Then I glue the pages onto magazine covers, inserts, or fliers that are heavy weight paper or light weight cardstock quality. Then I hand cut these with a pair of scissors and punch holes in them. You can use these as hang tags, or scrapbooking embellishments. You will get an assortment of backing colors because of the recycling element. There are eight in each package, approximately 2 1/2 x 1 inch.

This is a set of two cards. Each one has a water color hand painted snowman, on watercolor paper. I then cut it out and outlined it with gold paint. These are little people that I make out of hand-blown eggs, and various other materials. The first step is to blow the egg. These come from free range Arucana hens that my friend raises, and she blows the eggs for me. The shells are very strong.
Then I cover them with my hand marbled tissue paper, then rubnbuff and a varnish. The arms and legs and heads are made from sculpey or papier mache, that I hand form or mold in my own molds. I then add little treasures that I have saved just for these. Usually a story evolves along with the creation of the person. I write their story on the back of the tag. Each one is one of a kind.

This is one of my "Treasure Trunks". These are made by cutting up store purchased boxes (such as:kitty litter, oatmeal, ice cream, car parts, etc.)then adding drawers, secret compartments, and the distinctive curved and ribbed lid. Then they are covered with papier mache, sanded and painted. Then they are covered with decorative papers, or hand marbled tissue, and finally paint, rub ons and varnish. Then the fun begins. Sculpey knobs, hand made hinges and clasps and collage. Finally special feet are added. This process usually takes about a month to complete. Each one is distinctively different. I have made them in the past with different themes for special customers, so custom orders are no problem. Each trunk measures approximately 18" high by 12" wide by 5" deep.

This is a little journal I decided to make after looking at this watercolor and deciding it wasn't to be framed. But it was painted on 300 lb. watercolor paper, which is extremely sturdy, so I made it into a book cover. Since the painting was of daffodils in pots I chose to use a spring green 22 lb. bond weight paper for the inside, and the outer hinges. Journal contains 80 pages (160 sides) and measures 4 1/2 x 6 3/4 inches.

This beautiful purse is made from a recycled mailing box.
Books are shipped in really sturdy cardboard boxes with a perforated opening, I open them very carefully to be able to reuse them.
I use hand decorated papers for the outsides. These are paste-papers (the actual paper, not a copy), hand marbled papers, and painted papers. The mulberry paper or banana paper that I use for the lining is like fabric, very soft, so it won't scratch your valuables. I also cut it a little large so there are folds to further protect things.
For the actual process, I first cover the box or rebuild it a little with papier mache. Then I cover it with the special papers. This involves careful trimming and gluing for neatness. For the decorations, I use embossed stamped images, and polymer clay pieces that I have made molds for. I then paint them and varnish them. I use dot velcro for the closures because these clutches are light and I think hardware would take away from that.
Size is 8 inches wide, 5 1/2 inches high, and 1 3/4 inch deep.

I added a little reinforcement to the hole made from my scrap pile. And then I aged them with Cocoa pigment ink. These are sold in packages of six. I can't throw anything away, and have found that this is a great way to share my hand decorated papers, and digital images that I create for my artwork. This is a keepsake type album for special photographs and momentos. It can sit on a table top and show the world how wonderful your honeymoon was, and still is. this is an altered book style accordian book with Paris as the theme. It is 4 1/2 x 11 open, and 4 1/2 x 3 inches closed. I have used many 3D embellishments on this little work of art, and have included an area for journaling.
