Vintage Japanese Case could be a box or pocketbook
It is bamboo, with a woven wicker inside. A bamboo fabric on the outside with stripes of brown and black. Under the fabric on one side has painted japanese characters and on the other side are painted bamboo branches.
Has a lovely wood..bamboo clasp

I do not know what its initial purpose was. My first thought on seeing it was a lovely desk accessory to hold papers or misc. You decide..it will look terrific anywhere

c1930-40's Standing easel slate chalkboard. Opens to reveal a desk with little shelves and storage. Chalk shelf.

48"H x 21"W closed, open desk area 17 x 20

The top is a rolling lithoplate with amazing graphics that have stayed vibrant after all these years. Starting with the alphabet, numbers, measures, it continues to transportation, nursery rhymes, animals and more. This section turns easily with original hardware. I see 1 small tear.

The frame is oak in very good condition. The backing & desk area looks to be a pressed board material in good condition , has some wear. Looks to be Original hardware, side bottom ribbons has been replaced.

"The smokey brown color was called Tawny, because it was most like the color of Tawny port wine. The shape was called Accent. The swirl decoration was called Prado. The glass you have Is called TWANY PRADO. The maker is Libbey Glassware, Toledo Ohio about 1977. They are machine made. The the decoration was one of the most expensive of its day. An adhesive was placed on the glass. Then a finlely colored ground glass called frit was affixed to the adhesive. Then it was fired, adhesive burned away, at over 875 degrees for about 45 min. Then cooled and packed for shipment. It was popular in its day. The tawny color was popular for many years, but Prado was only made for about 2 years."
