Inspired by both the warm reception last year's glovelets met and the experience of wandering around Seattle on a freezing clammy day when I'd left my own pair of fingerless gloves at home, these gloves are made especially to combat chilly weather with good style.

These gloves were handknit from a luxurious blend of 50% merino wool and 50% silk. They feel cool and silky to the touch, but quickly warm up to keep your wrists and hands toasty and comfortable.

The forty-sixth wristlet in this series of experiments is a new favorite of mine--a nice wide hand-crocheted, lacy band, highlighted by a threaded silk ribbon and a beautiful brass metal button with a four-flowers motif. I hand-dyed the ribbon using black tea infused with rose petals, to give it the faintest overtone of tea and match the natural cotton color of the all-cotton thread. The generously-cut ribbon leaves enough left over for you to tie or untie the bow however you like!

A great accent for anything from steampunk to everyday dressing-up, this piece has a nice nostalgic feel to it. It's something great to wear to tea outdoors with friends. :)

Oh man, where to begin with this one? It’s my favorite of this batch, with its broad lacy lattice pattern and a selection of scruffy vintage buttons adorning the edge. Three of the four buttons slyly make up the closure, while the fourth perches sweetly off-center as an accent. Every inch of the crochet lace was made by hand and painstakingly edged in a pretty scalloped pattern. Overall, I think it is reasonably awesome, and great for old-fashioned style.

A set of handmade lace appliques. I dyed the thread before crocheting it into these little bits of endearing lace for a good sepia tone. They were blocked but not treated with any fixatives, making them vegan-friendly and ready for use in applications where you don't want scratchy cotton. This wristlet was handmade with care using pale sage green cotton thread and a pair of mismatched buttons in wood and plastic, selected from a big jar of vintage ones. Laid flat, it measures just over 1.5 inches wide by 2.5 inches long, and will best fit wrists up to 6 inches in diameter.

Each wristlet in this series is handmade without set patterns, using a variety of different threads, buttons, and motifs. As experiments, each one is a little different from the one before and the one following, expanding on the pattern of the previous experiment or veering off in a new direction.

I'm particularly fond of this one. In true bird's-nest style, this handknit beanie incorporates everything from thread-fine handspun to cream-and-white cotton/wool/nylon blend millspun yarn. It features the same raglan shaping as the first cap.

It was knit by hand, stitch by stitch, with a combination of handspun, hand-dyed, and commercially milled yarn, in browns, creams, reds, and pinks.

This pair of handmade hair pins feature freshwater pearls and a double layer of handmade lace brought together as little mini-fascinator flower blossoms. The shape of these blooms was inspired by peonies. They measure just under 1.5 inches across.
