$26.00
Dr. Edmund Gravel carefully preserves samples of flora and fauna that he collects on his anachronistic expeditions. This cunning glass bottle is torus-shaped and has one of his unique preservation airlocks, which maintains conditions inside the bottle similar to those on the Isles of Ne'erwas in order to best sustain the samples of local plantlife for further study. Airlock features a wax-dipped plug, brass and silver gears, cogs, and fittings, as well as a spool of micro-gauge copper wire. Antiqued brass placard reads "Flora Samples, Yeare 1803." This piece was recently displayed in the Contraptors' Lounge at Maker Faire (Bay Area) 2008. See other photos. Jar measures 19 cm tall (inc. airlock), 14 cm wide, and 7 cm deep.

Down the Rabbit Hole Pocketwatch

$38.00
~~~Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, "and what is the use of a book," thought Alice, "without pictures or conversations?' So she was considering, in her own mind (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her. There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!" (when she thought it over afterwards it occurred to her that she ought to have wondered at this, but at the time it all seemed quite natural); but, when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.~~~
Surely the White Rabbit would love this tidy brass pocketwatch with its rosy decoupaged face and embossed numbers. And how delightful; it's always just past nine o'clock! Plenty of time for a day full of adventures. See other photos. High-quality fob chain is 36 cm long (inc. silver clip); watch is 6 cm tall and 4.5 cm wide.
Nota Bene: This is a "Timeless" creation (i.e. not a working watch).
The blast shattered his work into countless water gems, frozen in time, their images both distorted and focused by the glassy fluid. This set of six gems features a key which unlocks a few scribbled memories and timelines. Set comes in a charming vintage tin. See other photos. Largest gem is 3.5 cm.
Gems are mini paperweights. Six strong round magnets can be added to the reverse sides of gems for an additional $2.
The dog-leg scissors and sharp moon blade are adorned with tiny brass gears on the handles, the pick has a brass handle wrapped in silver wire for a precise grip, and the divining compass (a hybrid of a divining rod and a compass) is Dr. Gravel's own invention. Black grosgrain ribbon loops hold each in place, and the two heaviest items are further reinforced by gear snaps. The Expedition Tool Kit was recently displayed in the Contraptors' Lounge at Maker Faire (Bay Area) 2008. See other photos. Case measures 23 cm long, 16.5 cm wide, and 5 cm deep.
