Vintage Alpine Village Original Silhouette Paper Cut From The 1950s

$43.00
This piece is truly amazing. It's an original silhouette paper cut (NOT a print) made with heavy black paper mounted on beige paper of an alpine village with exquisite details like flowers, mushrooms, trees reflected on the water, etc. cut meticulously into the piece. Called a Scherenschnitt in German, paper cutting was a popular hobby in Germany in the 1950s when this piece was made. It comes framed and is ready to be hung on the wall of any alpine kitsch vintage lover!

Size: 32 cm (12.5 inches) by 26 cm (10 inches)

The piece is in excellent vintage condition.

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!

The Hills Are Alive Original Stitched Vintage Postcard FREE SHIPPING

$12.50
I love this vintage postcard. It is from the 1950s and is in the style of a Heimatfilm (Alpine movie)that was popular at the time. The card was printed in the former East Germany in the city of Leipzig and shows children in traditional costume, the boys in Lederhosen and the girls in Dirndl. Die Blumenwiese (The Flower Meadow)is printed in the bottom right hand corner. I stitched the postcard with primary red and yellow colored thread which matches beautifully with the overall kitsch appeal of the piece.

This an original, one of a kind piece of art and is simply a must for any fans of alpine kitsch. Though over 50 years old, the postcard is still in excellent condition (just a tiny little bit bent on two of the corners)and would love fabulous framed.

Bavarian Dachshund Vintage Skirt FREE SHIPPING

$38.00
This vintage skirt from the 70s is Trachtenmode, which is what they call the traditional clothes they wear in Bavaria for special occasions. The Trachten suit for men, called Lederhosen, is more internationally known than the women's clothing. This lovely skirt is 27 inches long with a 15 inch waist and is a German size 40 which is a U.S. size 10. Since it is high waisted, however, it could also easily be worn by a size 12 (I am a size 14 and it still fits but is a little tight.) One of the coolest details about this skirt are the two pewter wiener dogs (Dachshund) that are attached to each end of the belt. This skirt is the perfect thing to celebrate the imminent coming of spring!

NOTE: At the top of the skirt there is one small spot of slight yellow discoloration, but it is barely noticeable. Other than that, the skirt is in extremely good condition.

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!
Butterscotch And Tortoise Shell Swirl Necklace Made From Vintage Bakelite

$26.00
I love the feel and look of vintage Bakelite. I've been a collector myself for a while now and have just recently started also making jewelry out of it. To make this pendant necklace I combined a rounded piece of marbleized butterscotch colored vintage Bakelite (from around the 1940s) together with a piece in tortoise shell optic. The great thing about this second piece of Bakelite is that it is transparent (see photo) which gives the piece a unique touch.

The pendant is attached to a sterling silver-plated bail and hangs from a gun metal chain fastened with a vintage-style lobster claw fastener.

Entire length of chain: 65 cm (25.5 inches)
Length of pendant: a little less than 3 cm (a little over 1 inch)

Please note that Bakelite is a vintage material and therefore the pieces have some minor wear (very minor surface scratches) but overall they are both in excellent and beautiful vintage condition.

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!

Naughty Nanette Teaser Collage Mature

I made this teaser collage with a photograph from the 1920s I clipped from a catalog of a flapper standing with her underwear around her knees. I stitched on a little black mesh skirt to make a peep show. Lift up the skirt and you will see what a hairy girl our naughty Nanette happens to be! ;)

I combined this erotic stitched photograph with orange, burlesque ribbon, Italian art deco style paper and dark red felt all of which I mounted on natural cork. The collage has a ribbon in the back for easy hanging. Not like Granny Gertrude. Although Gertrude's house was spotless and she always served Kaffee und Kuchen on Sundays at 4 o'clock on the dot, she had a wild streak. Though she wore the proper brown and black and gray, secretly she longed to wear red...

I love vintage photographs. You look at the people in the picture and wonder who they are. Are they still alive? How did this picture come to be sold at a flea market and a junk shop? How did they live their lives? Sometimes I like to stitch an old photo and make up a story about the people in it. So here it is: The stitched vintage photograph of Granny Gertrude and her two grandchildren and the story that goes with it, just waiting for you to buy it and then frame it and hang it in the bathroom next to the mirror. ;)

The photograph is from the 1930s and is in excellent condition considering its age (the few scratches it has are visible on the pictures.)

It is a silhouette painting of Shakespeare that was hand-painted in black with gold detailing on concave glass. On the back is a sticker that read "Hand Painted And Entirely Produced In Great Britain An L.& R. Crossley Product. The glass silhouette painting is also beautifully framed. One of the greatest details is the shadow the painting casts in the light since the glass is concave. The end result is a shadow silhouette of the silhouette, a clever detail that I'm sure would have appreciated himself. The perfect gift for your favorite English major.

The piece is in excellent vintage condition, with only a few very minor scratches revealing its age.

Size: 15.5 by 15.5 cm (6 inches by 6 inches)
Hook on back for easy hanging

Jade Swirl Necklace Made With Vintage Bakelite And Vintage Green Glass Clasp

$25.50
I love the dramatic simplicity of this necklace. To make it, I attached a sterling silver bail to a piece of green marbleized Bakelite from around the 1940s. I then attached it to a length of vintage Japanese black bar chain, lacquered black chain and finished it off with a vintage green glass clasp from the 1960s. What I especially love about this Bakelite cabachon is that the green color is swirled. At the edges on one side you can still see the apple juice colored Bakelite shining through, a nice detail that makes the piece special.

Length of chain: 54 cm (21 inches)
Length of pendant: with bail 2.5 cm (around 1 inch)

I took this photograph of his profile (of his statue that is...) partly because he also looks a lot like my husband. A bit morbid I know, but what can you do? ;)

You will receive one 8 by 10 photograph that has been professionally printed (i.e. not on a home printer). An art deco glass button from the 1930s, it also has an almost sea urchin-like look hence the name I chose for the necklace. I stacked this button together with two other vintage buttons and a round piece of shell, then added them to a chain made of three types of vintage copper chain, one with fabulously feminine dangling faux pearls.

Dramatic and feminine yet wearable, this piece could also easily be worn for a wedding.

Entire length of chain: 46 cm (18 inches)
Length of pendant: (with bail) 4 cm (1.5 inches)

These dolls must be pretty religious or at least be fans of Catholic kistch!

To make this collage I took four vintage stamps (from Ecuador) with paintings of the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus which I then mounted on round pieces of wood and surrounded by ribbon. These four icons I then added to a piece of natural cork that I had covered in red rose vintage style Italian Carte Varese paper. I added vintage rhinestones and ribbon and, behold, a work of art was born! ;)

The piece is 11.5 by 15 cm (4 by 6.5 inches) and is bordered with black ribbon. You can still come across art deco Bakelite knife sets (and yes, I hope to eventually offer one for sale here) but these fruit fork sets are very hard to come by. An art deco antique from the 1930s, this piece features three stainless steel (Rostfrei in German, which is stamped on the front) fruit forks with butterscotch colored Bakelite handles. They stand freely in a black Bakelite cube that is attached to a base that is the same color as the knife handles. The piece is in excellent vintage condition with no cracked and only a few very minor surface scratches. Truly a must for any Bakelite and/or art deco collector!

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!
It features three dangling lucite etched crystals and drapes beautifully around the neck and over the shoulders. There are minimal signs of wear on the necklace (small scratches on a few of the rings that are only visible upon close inspection) but overall it is in excellent condition. The clasp was broken, so I replaced it with the lovely gold-toned one in the pictures.

Entire length of necklace: 53 cm (21 inches)

I took the photograph at the cemetery on Zossener Strasse here in Berlin. Most of the statues are up high or behind a gate and I've always wondered why.
Max and Moritz Original Stitched Vintage Photograph

$12.00
In German they say names are omens and Max and Moritz were always as mischevious as the characters with the same name in the famous children's book. Their older brothers Johann and Fritz both became bankers and their sister Carlotta married a lawyer, but Max and Moritz stayed practical jokers. But unlike the Max and Moritz of the stories, these two never paid for their bad behavior. In fact, their bad behavior paid them: They made a fortune manufacturing stink bombs and whoopee cushions. To this day they still have bad hair cuts and wear matching sweaters....

I love vintage photographs. You look at the people in the picture and wonder who they are. Are they still alive? How did this picture come to be sold at a flea market and a junk shop? How did they live their lives? Sometimes I like to stitch an old photo and make up a story about the people in it. So here it is: The stitched vintage photograph of Max and Moritz and the story that goes with it, just waiting for you to buy it and then frame it and hang it in the bathroom next to the mirror. ;)

The photograph is from the late 1940s and is in excellent condition considering its age (the few scratches it has are visible on the pictures.)

In the photograph is an old vent and the graffiti King 61 war hier (King 61 was here) as well as the letters b, a and k. 61 are the numbers for this part of the neighborhood, so I suppose the guy things he's "King of the Kiez" (Kiez= slang for neighborhood in Berlin).

I stitched the photograph with different colored wool thread, making it an one of a kind work of art. The size is 4 by 6 and it would look great framed. If you are interested in ordering a print of the original photograph (also shown here) feel free to convo me.

They are a sort of viewfinder: You look in a little window in the back and then press the chimney to see pictures of the local Sehenwurdigkeiten (sights). These two Guckis are from the small German towns of Wendelstein and Münsterreifel. Each contains eight pictures of what there is to see which is inevitably a water tower and lots of German Fachwerk houses. Both are in excellent condition and prime examples of the best of West German kitsch!

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!

I dedicate this necklace to the time in the city's history known as Shanghai Grand.

The necklace itself has an Asian origin. The hook in the picture is one near my apartment where you can lock up your bicycle. One morning I was struck by the beauty of the lines, the detail of the rust and the "accidental" pattern of black scuff marks from hundreds and hundreds of bike locks. This series would look great framed and matted in the living space of anyone who loves urban design.

If purchased you will receive three 4 by 6 professionally printed, unframed and unmatted photographs.
The Yellow Rose Of Treptow Original Stitched Necklace

After drying it carefully I attached it to the skin of a magical silver colored lizard. But don't worry! No animals were harmed in the making of this piece! The magical lizard, known affectionately here as a Loompi Loomp, completely sheds its entire skin every six months.

Ok, so maybe this story isn't exactly true. However, I did stitch some funky metallic animal print ribbon with durable wool thread. TO this I did my usual mixture of vintage materials (vintage Japanese green glass beads) with the new (brass chain, yellow celluloid rose.) For those with a little funky gypsy soul inside of them!

Length of necklace: With pendant 28 cm (11 inches)Without pendant 24 cm (9.5 inches)

Length of chain open: 52 cm (21 inches)

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!

Dollhouse Gallery Series Pop Art Dolls Made From Vintage Stamps

$20.00
Wow, the dolls in this house really seem to have a thing for pop art. They purchased this four-paneled work showing cartoon children on the road with various types of animal transportation and a large yellow bull's eye in the middle at an auction at Sotheby's....Ok, so actually this is the second in my Dollhouse Gallery Series. I combined four vintage stamps (Sharjah & Dependencies from 1971) which I then stitched, adding a vintage button from the 60s. To make this a dollhouse sized painting, I then mounted the stitched stamp and button to natural cork, added felt, wool thread and a pin for "hanging" and then mounted this again on another piece of natural cork covered in Italian Carte Varese paper.

The piece is 11.5 by 15 cm (4 by 6.5 inches) and is bordered with felt. There is a ribbon on the back side for easy hanging.

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!

My latest endeavor features a brass pendant in cloisonne style attached to a string of vintage acrylic amber and tortoise shell beads which is itself attached to a length of copper chain. I call the piece Madame Butterfly because I also added a butterfly charm with dangling length of chain as an after thought. What fun!

The necklace looks best is a choker (or nearly choker)style. The current length is 45 cm (17.5 inches). They were a married couple who died in the 1880s and are now buried side by side in a cemetery on Zossener Strasse in Berlin. They are in indeed good company since this is the same graveyard where both Brahms and Mendelssohn are laid to rest!

You will receive two 8 by 10 photographs that have been professionally printed (i.e. not on a home printer). I took the picture of "Lumpi" as he waited obediently for his master on Clement Street in San Francisco. The two water line cover pictures I took on the streets of downtown Cheyenne, Wyoming. It seems like a long way to order them all the way from Dubuque, Iowa, but then again maybe they got them on special...

This photograph collage is 12 inches (length) by 6 inches (width)and features three professionally printed, glossy photographs that have been mounted on natural cork (see picture). There is a ribbon on the back for easy hanging. I had enough supplies to make one for myself and it has since become one of my absolute favorites. The centerpiece of the necklace is a heavy, thick vintage brass chain. The chain is so smooth and feels wonderful against the skin. When I wear it, I can't help but constantly finger it. This chain I added to another length of vintage chain. Truly a wearable piece that is both simple and yet makes a statement.

Entire length of chain open: 45 cm (nearly 18 inches). I would be happy to also shorten or lengthen the chain (though not by too much because the brass chain is really quite heavy), so please write in your order if you are interested.

I stitched a little around her body in bright yellow and they added a hot pink celluloid flower for a touch of pizazz. Yowzah!

Everything's Coming Up Roses is another in my collection of nude (and nearly nude!) stitched photographs. The photograph is a reprint of an erotic shot from the beginning of the 20th century and is 16 by 10 cm (6.5 by 4 inches). I've also mounted it in natural cork and added a simple framing made from black felt as well as a ribbon on the back for easy hanging.

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!
Circa 1966, this is just the kind of furniture I love and adore. Since I believe in mixing the old with the new, I also added a few items from the most recent Ikea catalog. See if you can tell the difference! :)

To make this piece I stitched an 8 by 10 vintage card from a classroom set designed to teach East German children Russian. In their honor I made this necklace. I wove a leopard print ribbon, hand-stitched at the ends, into a brass filigree and then added a pewter button of a tree. I attached this pendant to a thick brass chain with orange vintage glass beads, two copper snake skin bars and a carnelian connector.

Length of Necklace: With pendant 37 cm (14.5 inches) Without pendant 23 cm (9 inches)

Entire length of chain open: 48 cm (19 inches)

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!

To make these pieces, I make miniature works of art from vintage stamps which I then "hang" on a piece of cardboard mounted on natural cork. This particular piece features two vintage stamps from Fujeira of nude portraits by the Italian artist Modilgliani. Because one women is fair and the old dark, they reminded me of the Grimm's fairy tale, Snow White and Rose Red.

The piece is 11.5 by 15 cm (4 by 6.5 inches) and is bordered with black ribbon and Italian Carte Varese vintage style paper.
Neukoelln Forever Necklace

$14.00
The area of Neukoelln in Berlin is known as a "Problem Bezirk", a problematic neighborhood. Well over half the inhabitants are on welfare, there is problems with Arabic and Turkish gangs, so on and so forth. However, I lived there for 8 out of the ten years I have been in Berlin and, although rough, the neighborhood is also very vibrant and multi-cultural and full of all sorts of hidden treasures. Since there are great apartments to be had there at cheap prices, there is also a thriving underground arts scene. In honor if Neukoelln, warts and all, I have made this necklace.

I started with a vintage piece of green polka dot ribbon on which I embroidered the initials NK. I then added a button of a map of the area in Neukoelln called Rixdorf (near Karl-Marx-Strasse)which is also vintage (I know this because the McDonald's listed on the map moved around 9 years ago!) I stitched up the sides and attached a thick brass chain garnished with a few vintage red glass beads from Japan. Very funky and very Neukoelln, but in a good way! ;)

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!

Siegfried and Lotte Original Nearly Nude Stitched Photograph Collage

$20.00
Siegfried was a wholesome young man who lived with his mother and went to mass on each Friday and Sunday. But then, one Christmas, he stood briefly with Lotte under a sprig of mistletoe and from then on Siegfried was a sinner who loved cigarettes, whiskey and wild, wild women!

I love this romantic, nearly naughty collage! To make it, I started with a reproduction of an early 20th century erotic photograph (professionally printed on glossy Kodak archival paper.) I stitched certain parts of the photograph, added vintage swarovski crystals and Italian paper, then mounted the whole piece on natural cork and, voila, the legend of Siegfried and Lotte was born!

The collage is 18 by 12 cm (5 by 7 inches) in size and has a ribbon on the back side for easy hanging.

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!

Bleak times indeed. So good to see that their little cheerful spirits were doing so well!

To make this journal I stitched both of the photographs to Italian paper and then put one on the front and one on the back of a black Moleskine pocket journal (lined.)
Learn Your Russian Series Be A Hero

$7.50
I'm still at it with the Russian, although this time I'm using something different than my retro flashcard set. This time I used the (blown-up) copy of a World War 2 Russian propaganda stamp that I clipped from a book. The Russian below reads "Be a hero." This I stitched to a vintage German Wundertüte bag. Wundertüte run along the same principle as a pack of baseball cards: You buy the bag with a little something is inside (in this case it was stamps) along with a stick of gum, but you don't know exactly what you'll get until you take a peek after purchase.

All in all, the collage is slightly larger than an average postcard.

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!

I combined three photographs that I've taken: The top photograph is of an abandoned motel in Bayard, Nebraska, the middle photograph is of a bunch of daisies growing in the garden of a small castle in Potsdam, Germany, and the third photograph is of a garage in Gering, Nebraska.

This photograph collage is 12 inches (length) by 6 inches (width)and features three professionally printed, glossy photographs that have been mounted on natural cork (see picture). There is wool thread attached for attractive hanging, although the collage could also be framed (the cork is a little bit less than a half an inch thick.) I'm not sure which one normally plays the devil and which one the angel, but this time I can be sure they are both asking Wilma why in heavens name is she wearing that sweater!

I made this little piece from a photograph from 1947 of a woman in an admittedly hideous cardigan (photograph is vintage post card size and in good condition for its age.) The two additional "heads" I created from vintage stamps (one from Belgium and one from Hong Kong.) But then she grew up and became a flapper. She moved to Paris where she fell in love with a painter. Just look at Virginia now!

Virginia now is another in my collection of nude stitched photographs. The photograph is a reprint of an erotic shot from the beginning of the 20th century and is 16 by 10 cm (6.5 by 4 inches). The photograph is backed with vintage style paper and I can add a ribbon for easy hanging if you so desire (please write this request in note to seller).

Because of the robe, something about the photograph seemed vampire-like to me which may have been why I added a simple row of red stitching, like little drops of blood.

**************************************************************

Please read my shop policies before ordering: http://www.etsy.com/shop_policy.php?user_id=5540291
Thanks!

The picture is of a mail slot in an apartment I used to live in here in Berlin (Briefe und Zeitungen=Letters and Newspapers). The Luftpost sticker is the real one they use on any letters going by air. The photo is 4 by 6 and has just the teeniest bit of glue residue on the surface below the Luftpost sticker, but you really don't notice at all because the paint on the door is uneven. If you purchase this item you will receive the 4 by 6 photo only and then can decide yourself whether you would like it mounted, framed or simply added to your collection.
Purple Metropolis Photo Collage 4 by 6

$7.00
The figure on this collage reminds me of the logo for Fritz Lang's silent film, Metropolis, hence the name. The photo used is an original photo I took of a statue at the Georg Kolbe museum here in Berlin. I added effects to make it black and white, so it shows up very crisply underneath the translucent purple paper I glued over it. On top of the paper I added a matte lacquer, then mounted the collage on cardboard. I added a black ribbon as a border and for easy hanging. The brighter purple color in the two pictures with the blue and orange back groundis closer to the actual color of the collage than the other two photos which turned out a bit lighter.

Lots of golden light, leaves in brilliant colors, a cripness in the air....In honor of this season I am presenting my first-ever photograph collage made with three of my own photographs. The two bottom photographs were taken a few weeks ago in Potsdam, Germany and the top one is actually a fire hydrant in Minatare, Nebraska that I took a picture of when I was there in September.

This photograph collage is 12 inches (length) by 6 inches (width)and features three professionally printed, glossy photographs that have been mounted on natural cork (see picture). There is a lovely ribbon attached for hanging, although the collage could also be framed (the cork is a little bit less than a half an inch thick.) Since the photographs were all taken by me, I would also be happy to have them printed and sold separately as well, so please feel free to convo me if you are interested.

Wendy stitched the one from Peter Pan. Now it's my turn!

Luckily I had this lovely black and white vintage photograph to work with. I love this photograph! Taken in the 40s, there is great wallpaper on the wall and the girl has a truly womanly look about her somehow. She also is casting a shadow which is what I stitched in red wool thread.

The embroidered photograph is mounted on thick, red cardstock (4 by 6). You can add it to your collection, prop it up on your bookshelf, have it framed, or, if you are feeling especially generous, even use it as a card (it comes with an envelope.)

As the photograph is quite old, there are a few slight spots of fading on its surface but it is in an overall excellent condition.
Vintage 1980s Like A Virgin Black Lace Dress

I bought the dress in 1988 in a shop in North Berkeley, California. I loved it right away but was always looking for the "right" occasion to wear it. Sometime in the 90s I wore it to a Madonna party. I probably wore it one or two other times on various occasions. Other than that, the dress just sat in my closet, waiting for its day in the sun (or more likely, under the moon.) It moved with me across the ocean to Germany and now, after years of neglect, is looking for a new home. Since it is now officially "vintage" I thought I would offer it here on Etsy.

Label: XoXo
Size: L The dress was a tight but sexy fit when I was a size 10/12 back before my second child. I think someone who was smaller than that could also wear it, it just wouldn't be skin tight, but it would probably also look great with a large, vintage 80s style belt.

Three Wise Stamps Antique Postcard Collage

$8.00
I went with a bit of a religious theme here in this collage. I put a vintage stamp from Fiji of Mary, Jesus and the wise men in a gilded paper frame and then framed some worshipful looking children from another vintage stamp from Canada (1970). I also added a frame to the Bavarian stamp on the back.

There are many special things about the postcard itself:

1. It is postmarked Baden Baden, May 28th, 1901 making it 108 years old.

2. The stamp is from Bavaria which was still its own separate kingdom at the time.

3. It still has the original greetings written in pencil, though they are in the old script and not really readable for "modern" eyes.

4. The writer also traced over the old woman's eyes in pencil, something you can see when you hold it against the light.

The postcard has a few minor tears on the side but, considering how old it is, it is in remarkable condition. A great addition to someone's collection and also worthy of framing.

Buffy would like to come, surely!

To make this fun, retro pocket journal I started with a Moleskine notebook, the best, most elegantly durable journals in my opinion. I added Japanese paper to the front and back and then hand-stitched a West German advertisement from Agfa Color to the front. This ad is an original vintage ad from the 60s NOT a reprint or reproduction! It is for Agfa color film and on the back it said (in German)Have you tried or new color film? If not, why not!

Cool and fun for any retro lover! Since the pages are unlined it could easily also be used as a sketchbook, journal, address book, whatever!

I think the photograph will look great hanging in someone's kitchen (mine too, I think), so I decided to put it up for sale right away.

The photograph is professionally printed and comes unmatted and unframed. The size I'm offering is 8 by 10, but I would be happy to also have a different size printed, so convo me if you are interested.

Cotton Candy Hand-made Vintage Skirt

It is from the 70s and completely (and beautifully)hand-sewn out of hot pink cotton with a linen look to it. The skirt is 28 inches long and is 14 1/2 inches at the waist. Since it is hand-made, there is no label, but I would guess it is a size 12, but go by the measurements to be sure. On the back of the skirt there are a few spots of slight discoloration, but they are barely visible and do not detract at all from the skirt's beauty! Other than that it is in extremely good condition.

They decide to forgo the poisonous love drink but now there is a new problem: Tristan wants coffee and Isolde wants tea. What to do? No worries. Isolde has the matching coffee pot and tea pot that carries her name as well as the matching creamer they can both use!

This lovely vintage find is indeed a coffee pot, tea pot and matching creamer from the German company Seltmann & Weiden Bavaria, pattern Isolde. As you can see in the picture, the gold trim has worn a little off the lid on the coffee pot and the tea pot, but besides this, all three are in excellent condition.

It is so hip and chic, vintage yet modern at the same time. I bought it in the cool neighborhood of Berlin-Friedrichhain a couple of years ago and actually wore it myself for a while. After having two babies, however, I have come to the reluctant conclusion that I will never, ever be a size 8 again. Lucky for you, because that means this fabulous find is now for sale!!!

The jacket is gray tweed and is 55% Polyester and 45% Virgin Wool and is in excellent condition. The size is a German 38 which is a U.S. size 8. The necklace pictured in the photographs is from my jewelry shop, Rose, red Rose. Of course, combined shipping is possible! :)

Length of jacket: 63 cm (nearly 25 inches)
Length of sleeves: 56 cm (22 inches)
Width of shoulders: 40 cm (nearly 16 inches)

Instead of a mere slab, they are made up of various stone and concrete components that are added together in a geometrical fashion on a bed of sand. Since they are not completely sealed off, plants always end up growing through the cracks. Our neighborhood is now filled with wild flowers, like snap dragons which is very, very cool.

This photograph set features two of my original photographs of sidewalks here in Berlin-Kreuzberg (near the former airport, Templehof.) They are 4 by 6 in size and are professionally printed on glossy paper. Please convo me if you are interested in ordering larger sizes. Thanks.

To make it, I stitched a post card of a photograph of the word Wunderbar on to an unlined moleskine pocket journal/sketchbook. To the back I also added a smiling German Fraeulein with the body of a woman from the 1930s. Lots of fun and truly one of a kind! Great to stick in the back pocket of any retro lover for those fleeting moments of inspiration. :)

Learn Your Russian Series In The Classroom Hand-Stitched Pocket Journal

He never could get much of a feel for the alphabet and speaking it made him feel like he had mustard in his mouth. He was always grateful when the words were the same in German as they were in Russian. Taxi was Taxi. Restaurant was restaurant. And Klasse was Klass.

Classroom is the third in my Learn Your Russian Series (though it is the first journal). To make these I am using Russian language cards used to teach German children Russian during the GDR (I bought the set here in Berlin at a flea market.) The card here was used to teach the word classroom. I stitched the card to a yellow pocket journal and then stitched Japanese paper to the inside of the front and back pages.

It also comes with two index cards with the Russian/German words being taught on them and English on the back so you can learn your Russian (and German!)

He loved to buy them in the paper bag at the market and then eat them one by one, their juice staining his mouth and fingers. Sometimes he even wore them as earrings, that is until his older brother Heinz started teasing him about it.

I absolutely adore this vintage photograph. It shows a little German boy eating cherries sometime in the 1930s. The boy is wearing knit Lederhosen, something I have never seen before. A true masterpiece of vintage alpine kitsch! I stitched the picture in three colors, even adding a double color row in two places to show what I think the knit Lederhosen must have looked like in color.

Yodel-le-e-who!

Usually her Mama ties it up in thick braids across her head, but in the summer she lets it loose and Gretchen plays all day in the sun.

I fell in love with this vintage black and white photograph of a smiling little girl with her hair cascading over her shoulders. On the back of the photograph is stated that it was taken in July of 1948. As usually, I chose certain curves and angles to stitch and then mounted the photograph on pink card stock.

You could find so many uses for this little one of a kind piece of multi-media art. You could frame it, prop it up on your bookshelf or, if you are feeling especially generous, even use it as a card (it comes with an envelope.)

On the back of the photograph someone wrote the two names and that Georg is 3 1/2 years old (the back is now covered in felt.) I stitched the photograph in two different colors and added a piece of a stamp from Madagascar as decoration. The photograph is 5.5 inches by 3.5 inches (14 by 9 cm). Luckily I've recently been inspired to add my stitches to something else: Jewelry. I've been really enjoying making pieces for my new jewelry store, Rose, red Rose and a couple of nights ago it dawned on me. Why not stitched a pendant? I bought this gorgeous Fleur di Lis ribbon a while ago which I decided to stitch a pendant from. A couple of hours of work and several types of brass chain later and the I Stitch Therefore I Am Necklace was born. Hoorah!

As you can see, the necklace is quite long, but can also be lengthened or shortened to your liking.

Entire length of necklace with pendant: 43 cm (17 inches) Without pendant: 31 cm (12 inches)

Entire length of chain open: 63 cm (25 inches)
