DIGITAL scan Marie Antoinette VERSAILLES stamp cancellation antique French postcard

$3.99
ONE High resolution electronic image scanned at 300 DPI will be emailed to you within 24 hours upon payment -- if not sooner! Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

Is there such a thing as too much Marie?! I have this portrait of Marie Antoinette in a couple of other scans, but I HAD to have this particular card because it brings several elements together so perfectly -- such as the bold red stamp with a VERSAILLES cancellation clearly readable. And note the irony -- this isn't the typical French stamp with Marianna (the seed-sowing lady in the flowing gown) but this is the woman holding the tablets declaring the 'rights of man.' OH IRONY multiplied! Now, I'm leaving a white edge around this scan, all the more to appreciate its shabbily chic condition with the slightly worn corners and edges. I have pushed the "contrast" feature to give a richness and depth to the image but otherwise, it is here in all its antique glory with specks and spots. Dated 1903! NOTE: you will receive the full view scan as seen in pic no. 2; the first pic is simply the close up gallery cropping.

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. It CAN be resold in digital format if you alter the image enough to make it your own work of art. IF you print the image to resell, add your own ribbon, glitter and/or other embellishements to make it your own. Merci beaucoup!
French Greeting at Bottom or NO French greeting at bottom?
This is a scan of a turn-of-the-century French postcard featuring a little Victorian girl carrying "beaucoup des cadeaux." The signpost says "Corner of Good luck." On my original postcard was the French greeting for Happy New Year --- I have cloned that message out as you can see in the first scan, leaving room for your own personalized holiday greeting! IF you prefer the French Bonne Annee at the bottom, let me know in 'message from buyer' and I'll send you the original version. Otherwise, if you don't specify your choice, I'll send the blank version.

DIGITAL scan 18th Century Couple French postcard download ROMANTIC wall art decor

$3.99
ONE High resolution electronic image/jpeg photo --- WITHOUT my FrenchKissed logo on it, of course! --- scanned at 300 DPI will be emailed to you within 24 hours upon payment -- if not sooner! Print and use immediately!

WHICH ONE WOULD YOU LIKE? Please note WHICH ONE [feathered or orignal] in 'message from buyer.' Merci!

This is a scan of an unused antique French postcard that dates to 1903 or earlier (it has an undivided back). It was used as an advertising card by a bakery in Orleans, France! "Breads, spices and cookies" the French text says under the Rue Royale address. I'm offering this image in two formats: one is cropped in and feathered and one is the card image in its entirety. Please remember to tell me which ONE you'd like!
This image is shabbily chic. I have cleaned it up a lot, cloned out specks, spots, a couple of creases, etc. BUT it still shows a lot of wear on the edges. However, for an authentic, antique look, I figured you might like it with all those wonderful signs of age, so I've left a white border on the outside to give you room to cut around those worn corners. I think this image would make a darling gift tag, but something I've been wanting to get the word out about even more is how you can use these images for wall art! If you are into the romantic, cottage, French country or Paris apartment look, this scan would be perfect! One reason I scan my images at 300 dpi at full size (about 3.5 by 5.5 inches) is so you can enlarge the image and print it out 8 x 10 size -- perfect to frame for wall decor. When you start to print the scan, do a page preview and click the box that says 'fit to print.' The scan image should fill up a letter size piece of cardstock or fine art paper, doing so proportionately so as to not distort the image. Since my scans are so high-resolution at full size, you won't lose any quality or clarity.

HERE are two stunning examples of how this image was altered by fellow Etsy shop owners.
This first link is to the shop of Australian artist Wendy Patterson....if you buy some of her note cards to give as a gift, buy two sets cause you're gonna wanna keep one for yourself!
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=29239855

Not quite as far south, but down Corpus Christi way, there's a talented Texas lady. Print and use immediately for gift tags, greeting cards, journal cover, charm image -- whatever!

This is a scan of an antique French postcard mailed in ... well, it depends upon which version you want:) The original version is the scan with the green, undated postage stamp (the back of my card is hand-dated 1909). But I got to playing around and came up with what I consider the perfect red stamp postmark -- Paris 1908. So when you put in your order, please remember to specify: GREEN or RED stamp version.
The French text at top says "The little flowers speak for me." I love this image as is but I think you could customize it by replacing the scenery inset with your own image. Whatever you do, have fun! And remember: under message from buyer, RED or GREEN.

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book, make into your own greeting card, gift tag -- whatever!

Here is another royal figure to use in an altered art project! This is a scan of an antique French postcard (circa 1904-1918) featuring an actress -- Ms. Borgo. An Italian stage star, perhaps? I love her dainty little crown and the swath of color down the middle of an otherwise black and white photo. Now, I have used Photoshop to "clean up" this Queen on her face and hands to make her as lovely as possible. However, I have left the background in its shabby chic antique status with specks and spots.

PLEASE NOTE: My shop policies specify that if you buy a scan for commercial use, it must be ALTERED enough to make it your own work of art. IF you are an artist who would like to have a RECIPROCAL business relationship with me, please read my complete Shop Policies. You'll find I have a great business-to-business reward program.

Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

This is a scan of a French postcard mailed in about 1917 (postmark not legible but the 10 centimes stamp on the back helps pinpoint the date). The original postcard was part of a series entitled La Dinette with French text on a white border. I have cropped the border off and cleaned and cloned the card up in Photoshop. It is not pristine, but is delightfully shabby chic. You can tell it is an image almost 100 years old!
I think it would be fun to use this image for a party invitation. People do celebrate their pet's birthdays! But even for a human party, the image is ... dog-gone irresistable!

I learned recently that just as referring to someone as "little" (petite) is a term of endearment (little darling:), likewise, grand or gros (big) is too (like Big Daddy:) This card may be too shabbily chic for some folks, but if you love bulldogs, I think you'll be charmed by this fella --- scribbles and all!

I just wanna scream -- this is so cute!!! --- look what Kelly at Bleubirdnest did with this little bulldog?
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=27972258

Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

This jpeg photo/digital scan is of a French postcard mailed in 1904 to Mademoiselle Lia Poittier in Paris. But look at the very top right edge above the stamp and you'll see the artist signature (W.Schwar) and the date of 1901! My card shows its age. It's what I call shabbily chic. Most of my images are cropped to the card edge, but here, you will receive a scan with a tiny white border. I wanted to leave the ragged edges in all of its antique glory. What a great natural collage with the stamp, the postmark, the illustration and the French script at the bottom. NOTE: you'll receive the full-postcard scan as seen in the second pic. The first pic is simply the gallery up close cropping.

PLEASE HONOR artistic ethics: Make it your own!
DIGITAL Scan Victorian Girl with CAT French postcard

Without my FrenchKissed logo, of course! Print and use immediately for collage art, decoupage, gift tag, greeting card, whatever:)

You no doubt will recognize this little girl. She was a regular postcard model at the turn of the century, one of those little beauties that I would so love to learn their names and history and what happened to them.... I have another scan featuring her holding her cat while lying down and another where she is putting on her socks. In this one she is standing tall but her socks are sagging a little!ha! Postcards of this little girl are hard to find -- and when I do, they are tres cher. One of the first cards I ever had of her was a scene of her getting into a little boat. I sold that card 4-5 years ago to fellow Etsy seller and artist Sarah Fishburn. At that time, I didn't know how rare cards of this little girl are. A postcard with that same scene is currently available from one of my French dealers -- for 25 EUROS (just over $35)! Now, this card is not a real photo but a print. At first glance, you might think it was a photo and if you print it out at regular postcard size (about 3.5 by 5 inches), it may indeed pass for a photo. But if you print it larger, it will be obvious that it is a print. It almost looks like a charcoal drawing. In either case, it is a delightful image. The little girl is absolutely precious, sagging socks and all!

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26781859

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=21952081

UNADVERTISED SPECIAL: Buy all three scans featuring this adorable little girl and get a fourth scan of your choice, $3.99 or under, for FREE. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card!

All in unison: Ahhhhh.....:) Isn't this just SO cute? You can't look at this sweet kitty without saying "ahhhh." This is a scan of an antique French Happy New Year (Bonne Annee) postcard. It's not dated, but I feel confident in saying this is pre-WWI (1904-1914). A delightful montage of a real cat, real foliage and the photograhy studio's fake background. The original postcard was color tinted by hand (blobs of red on the flowers, softer green wash for the background) and also my card has lots of gold leaf accents -- around the New Year sign and on the wheat. Maybe after you print yours out, you'll want to do something similar. [I think this cat deserves to be in someone's shop banner, created by yours truly -- yes, I'm now in the banner designing business. Give me a try! Check out Dru's Etsy shop, The Nest, and see the banner I created for her.) This lovely long-haired feline could be a mascot for a business called Cat's Meow... OH.....excusez-moi, French cats don't meow. They miaou:)

Print and use immediately!

This is a scan -- front and back -- of an antique French postcard that is an advertisement for Dr. Autefage's pasturized milk! My original card has an uneven border around it and is actually a tad larger than normal antique postcard size. I have cropped in some on the bottom border to resize the image and now you can print this out into a 5 by 7-inch print to use for wall art in your French Country kitchen! Or, you can enlarge it to 8 x 11 inches --- scanned at 300 dpi, it will still look "parfaite!" You might like to print out the back, also, and hang side by side. Although I cleaned and cloned the front of the image in Photoshop, the back side is original in all its shabbily chic, antique glory: tear, wear and signs of age. Notice that butter (beurre) from Normandy, extra fine, is only two francs for 500 grams and it is delivered to your home!

Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

This is a scan of a real photo French postcard mailed in 1901. I do believe that this fat tabby personifies the notion of Sourpuss:) But it has apparently been convalescing, so no wonder it looks down in the mouth. I think this scan would be great to make into a one-of-a-kind get well card for a friend. I have cleaned this card up in Photoshop, but it still retains trademarks of its antiquity -- hence, you'll see some creases and lots of silvering, especially at the bottom.

PLEASE honor artistic ethics: Make it your own! Well, now you can say, "but I've seen a blue-green cat!" This scan is of an unused vintage French postcard, a real black and white photo that was color tinted by hand. IF you look closely, you'll see that a turquoise wash was used to highlight the gray in the cat's fur! And look at the way the artist painted the white ribbon. I love the look of hand painted photo postcards and it boggles my mind when I think about the challenge the artist had back then to stay within the lines and yet think outside the box! On some hand-tinted postcards, you can tell that the artist just slapped on blobs of color, so when I really appreciate it when I see handiwork like this, an effort to give the bow a 'customized' look!

PLEASE honor artistic ethics: Make it your own! Perhaps later I will find the perfect Paris postmark and clone it in:) But as is, this is a gorgeous antique postcard scan. On the back the sender wrote in French: My best wishes for 1909. So 100 years ago, on Dec. 27, this card was mailed. How fitting for you to use it for your 2009 greetings! The French words at the bottom mean Happy New Year. The gifts the Edwardian woman is holding are probably, technically, for Etrennes (French New Year gifts) and not Christmas gifts, but ... with a little poetic license, this could very well be your customized Christmas card.

REMEMBER ARTISITC ETHICS: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. No, I'm afraid not. Just Washday Monday. But I will definitely be on the lookout for more postcards in this series. My original postcard came to me from France and while my speciality is French postcards, I do try to widen my horizons every now and then! Besides, who can resist teddy bears?! And in this case, not one but two! Print this out for a cute and inexpensive piece of wall art in the baby's nursery! (above the diaper bag!ha!) My original postcard is unused, but the copyright info at the bottom says "1907, William S. Heal, N.Y." So this is definitely an original antique image for your creative fun. I cleaned up some specks and spots but I left the creases at the bottom right corner by the baby bear's foot for an authentic touch!

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. Without my FrenchKissed logo, of course. Print and use immediately.

This is a scan of a French postcard mailed in 1904. A heavenly Art Nouveau design, indeed! Add a red ribbon and voila, an elegnat gift tag. Or use all that black space for your own holiday message to create your customized celestial Christmas card. I also envision this image with thick flocking on it! Wouldn't that be neat? Hmmm.... wonder if I should clone in a red antique French postage stamp? Lemme know if you'd like a red stamp and I'll try it:) Now, many antique postcards were printed from paper with a high fiber content and "black" backgrounds have lots of specks of white in them. I worked with this scan a lot to 'perfect' it. I pushed the contrast, added black paint and cloned out white specks till I was seeing double. So it's not perfect, but darn near:) NOTE: you will receive the full view scan as seen in the second pic. The first pic is a gallery view close up.

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally AS IS . Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card to send to family and friends!

This is a scan of an antique French menu, circa 1915-16, designed by an artist named Albert Guillaume. Although Monsieur Guillaume lived until 1942, his illustrating career seemed to have ended just before the end of World War I -- so the French dealer I got this item from explained to me. While I love the design of the elegant couple dressed 'to the nines,' what particulary drew me to the menu was the huge "Reservee" written on it. I think this would be a sweet dinner invitation card, don't you? Inside, you could say something like -- we've reserved a spot just for you:). Although I cleaned this item up quite a bit in Photoshop, I left the spots and stains at the bottom (authentic touch!) For right now, I'm offering this scan as is. Later, I will clone out Reservee so that this image can indeed be used for a menu.
IF you or someone you know has a restaurant, bistro or bakery, do please send them my way. I have many items that would make great promotional items for advertising and decor for anyone in the food business. For professional use, I can offer this scan at 1280 dpi -- which would allow you to print this menu out at poster size! E-mail me for pricing information.
NOTE: this scan is quite large at almost 5.5 by 8 inches. IF your email mailbox has size constraints, I can reduce it to normal postcard size which is about 3.5 by 5.5.

Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book, make into your own greeting card, gift tag -- whatever!

This is a scan of an antique postcard mailed in Beligium in 1912. To me, this card has "spring" written all over it! Literally and symbolically, these pink twins seem to be doing a high step, carrying their lovely pink and red garland, looking like the epitome of spring time in May. My only regret about this scan is that, as you know, silvers and golds are so reflective that they don't show well in scans. The gold heart halo that surrounds the girls just doesn't look as gold as I would like it to. Perhaps on your print out, you can embellish it with gold leaf.
For your viewing pleasure only, I am including a little scan of part of the back side. The sender did not write a message or sign her name, but she did put some numbers under the letters in the recipient's name and address. Can you solve the mystery?!

I have quite a few groupings of bird postcards with lots of French script written all over them. This one is a standout exception. No script at all; just the stamp and postmark cancellation. The bird illustration is so colorful and beautiful --- with a little dragonfly to boot. Wouldn't this make a sweet notecard or stationary border? Irresistable! IF you prefer this image without the stamp, check out my other listing featuring this same lovely flock!

These scans vary in size but are range from 4 x 6 to 3.5 by 5. These scans would be sweet simply printed, matted and framed for wall art! However, illustrations like these also work well with cold sheet laminate transfers. Their uses are myriad and afford a lot of creativity.
If you would prefer the real thing and would like to buy
pages taken from an "unbound" volume of Paris Mode 1890-1891, email me. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book, make into your own greeting card or journal cover!

This is a scan of a French postcard featuring one of Paris' icons-- Notre Dame. Did you know that in front of that famous church is the center of the universe? Well, in the French world it is:) The O mile marker, the center of Paris, from which all natioanl road milage in France is measured from, is in the front of Notre Dame. My original postcard is unused with an undivided back, which dates it to 1903 or earlier. As you can see, the paper has that aged antique look. There are also hints of album impressions at the corners. I've left all of that original; I haven't tried to clean it up in Photoshop, but have left it in its antique glory:) I love all of the blank space for you to use and customize in your own Paris dream journal!

Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

Here is a scan of an antique French postcard that I think would make a great Valentine! The original card was mailed in 1902. As you can see, the sender had a lot to say! Note the cute little crown the woman is wearing. This design has several fun elements that you could use separately -- the French script, the heart, the woman -- or as is, all together, for a sweet natural collage. NOTE: You will receive the full view scan as seen in the second photo; the first photo is simply the up-close gallery view.

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. It CAN be resold in digital format if you alter the image enough to make it your own work of art. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card!

I have two versions of this scan available. When I began looking through my images for appropriate Halloween-themed items, this really jumped out at me as having lots of potential! This is a scan of a French postcard that was actually a school graduation photo with French words, names and dates. I have removed those elements in Photoshop to give you a blank frame to customize and create your Halloween collage! The black background is not a solid black; it's shabbily chic vintage and authentic with white spots/specks here and there. If you print this scan out at regular postcard size, you likely won't see those specks at all, but you will if you enlarge it to 8 x 10. It won't look bad, just vintage.

While I have many bird images, this one is extra special, I think, because of the pairing of the images -- the heart and woman's shoe with the bird's nest! The sender wrote "kisses, dear friend" inside the heart. Print and use immediately!

This is a scan of an antique French postcard mailed in 1906. I have cleaned and cloned on this card quite a bit in Photoshop, but it is still quite shabby chic. All of those little white specks you see on the branch and leaves at front were also on the bird. Although I have repaired the bird, I have left the other original, along with the French script at the top. It all comes together for a genuine antique collage look. In the French text, the sender is asking if Henry likes it at school and sends best wishes to his parents.

This is a scan of a "French" postcard and the reason I have that in quotes is because it was actually printed in Germany and -- get this -- mailed from Tunisia, a former French colony in northern Africa. The sender wrote: 1st prize at the conservatory and dated the card October 20, 1903. IF you don't like the French script inside the music book, I can clone it out, but as my daddy would say, "It tells a story:)" A superb image for a customized Christmas card this holiday!

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. Without my FrenchKissed logo, of course. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

This is a scan of a French postcard, circa 1903. If you look closely, you'll see the artist's signature at the bottom underneath the blank space: H. Schmidt, Geneve. so I'm thinking this card was actually printed in Switzerland! Although I cleaned up a few specks, so you'll still see how "antique-y" this image is, that speckled 'foxing' look that 100+ year old paper gets. I love all that blank space for your customized message! NOTE: you will receive the second pic, the full view scan of the postcard; the first pic is just a close up gallery grop. Remember, too, that at 300 dpi, you can 'blow up' this scan to 8 x 10 and it will still be clear, not pixelated. So this design would be perfect for advertising, annoucement flier for a bazaar, store sale, etc. Hosting a Christmas dinner? Turn this into a menu and/or dinner invitation. Go itty bitty and use that blank space to put in the price of something and make into a sales tag. Lots of uses!

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. Print and use immediately!

This is a scan of an antique French postcard mailed in 1904. As a whole, you may not like this image, but I see it as separate parts that can be used for 3 different projects: the in-your-face red ink Spanish script (LOVE those smudge marks!), the 18th century Marquis couple and the gilded scrolly pink frame. Since this scan is 300 dpi at full size (about 5.5 by 3.5 inches) you've got plenty of leeway to work with all of these elements together or separate. Enlarge the pink frame to border an 8 x 10 pic for wall art! Enlarge the couple to use on a journal cover. The Spanish script will make a great backdrop for a collage. Have fun!

Here's an awesome example of how a fellow Etsy shop owner took this scan and made it her own --- Cassandra used just the woman's face in this scan to create an original series of "butterfly" women!
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=29716565

PLEASE NOTE: IF you are an artist who would like to have a RECIPROCAL business relationship with me, please read my complete Shop Policies. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book, use as a journal cover, make into a greeting card, a gift tag or whatever!

If you are into the Marie Antoinette era where life was very genteel, with fans and white wigs -- I think you'll love this scan. I have two different versions of this same couple. (In my other listing, they are dancing.) As you can see, the original postcard was mailed Jan. 1, 1902, from Paris! The sender was sending best wishes for the new year to Dearest Therese and her mother:)

Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card!

This is a scan of a postcard with a lot of international connections. It was printed in Germany and mailed to Argentina at the turn of the 20th century and sent to me from France in the 21st century! The back of my original postcard is undivided (which dates its printing to 1903 or earlier) and is addressed to Senorita Maria Cristina Keen. (I have another card from the same person listed among a bird trio). You will notice at the top left corner is the No. 3. So, this person had a lot to say and just kept sending one card after the other. I can't read Spanish, but who needs to? We can appreciate this lovely natural collage without knowing the words. I love the gold-colored ink! The Marchioness is so delicate and lovely.

Looking for inspiration or a ready-made gift? Check out Greer's gorgeous design using this image:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=30093482
IF you are a professional artist and/or fellow shop owner, you are welcome to use my images in your art work to resell if the image is altered --like what Greer did above. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book, tags or whatever!

Chere Marie-Louise, Marcelle, Bellevue, le 12 Septembre 1905 -- those are a few of the highlights in the scan of an antique black and white postcard with beaucoup de French script. The delicate illustration of the little girl holding flowers is almost lost in the sea of words. Great collage element! The second scan is a romantic illustration of simpler times with the Edwardian woman swinging. This card is addressed to "Chere Marie-Antoinette" -- obviously folks' opinion of the French queen had changed by the turn of the century, since they were naming their kids after her!

$5.99
TWO High resolution electronic images [without the FrenchKissed logo, of course] scanned at actual size at 300 DPI will be emailed to you within 24 hours upon payment -- if not sooner! Print and use immediately for collage or altered book art, decoupage, bookmarker or tags, greeting cards --- or whatever other creative way you can think of!

Here are two scans with lots of French script! One is dated 1901 and the other is from 1919. The latter one also features an original little drawing! Helene is writing to her father about coming to dinner next Sunday, the first of February, "like usual, at 12:30. Patrice is forewarned. Naturally, if you are not too occupied with Madame Weill. Thanks a lot for the English "The Illustrated" [popular magazine at turn of the century] That was very interesting to me. I hope that your health all makes good. In the meantime, I send a hug to Jacquot." The original card is dated May 1919, but since the lunch date is for February, I'm assuming that's actually the date she painted her bird?? In the second scan dated Aug. 27, 1901, Yvonne is just chit-chatting with her friends, making small talk about "it's been a long time since i wrote, but I'm well and hope you are too." A little bird is flying to join four others on a delicate pink-budded branch. Ahhhh....! These scans are a bit shabby chic, but adorable nonetheless. Overall, aged with grace:)

Print and use immediately!

WHICH ONE(S) WOULD YOU LIKE? Please note WHICH style and format [all 3 in one image OR individual scans, with OR without French text] in 'message from buyer.' Merci!

Are these funky OR WHAT??!! These are antique French graphics, wondrous curly cue designs with French calligraphy. The French words are "good testimony." The third graphic is clearly a T, but the script in the other 2 look a C and there is no such word. So, I don't know if these were printers' proofs (or goofs, as the case may be). But I do know that these are awesome Art Nouveau graphics. The Frenchman I got these from said they were from the 1800s. I have cleaned these images up some, taken out some specks and spots and blemishes -- mostly I have concentrated on making the graphic design pristine. However, the outside lying area I have mostly left as is with the authentic signs of age.
NOW, I have been in business on Etsy for more than a year and a half, and I still have trouble figuring out exactly what you like and what will suit your creative purposes best. SO I'm giving you some choices here. Please remember to specify when you put in your purchase order.....French text or NO French text; Long single scan with ALL 3 graphics OR 3 individual little rectangles??
The single long scan you see is how the items came to me: rectangles pasted onto small pieces. If you prefer, the cropped, individual rectangles, SPECIFY and I'll send those.

PLEASE NOTE: My shop policies specify that if you buy a scan for commercial use to resell, it must be ALTERED enough to make it your own work of art. IF you are an artist who would like to have a RECIPROCAL business relationship with me, please read my complete Shop Policies. You'll find I have a great business-to-business reward program.

Print and use immediately for collage, altered book art, decoupage, whatever!

This is a digital scan of one of the most gorgeous receipts I've ever seen. Cacao Poulain -- (Chocolate foal -- it aids the digestion well) from a wholesale grocery and dry goods store in Craponne-sur-Arzon (a petit village west of Lyon). Notice the date at the bottom: August (Aout) 15, 1914. The receipt also itemizes 16 cups and 1 "cover" Louis XV -- not sure about that last part?? But a beautiful receipt for sure, with gold leaf galore!

Go down under and see what Wendy did with this image:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=21827236

Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card!

This scan is of a rare French postcard mailed Easter, April 18, 1908. In French, "Paques" is the word for Easter. I'm open for suggestions. Do you think "Paques" should be removed? Would you prefer the image with just the pink tinted egg, no word? Lemme know. I'm always happy to consider your input. (convo me or email me directly, Trishia at frenchkissed424 (at) yahoo.com) This card has been cleaned up in Photoshop but it still retains its vintage feel and look. I printed out a copy regular postcard size (about 3.5 by 5) and enlarged it to almost completely fill a letter size sheet of paper and both versions are delightful. The background is not a solid, flat color, but a gradient brown. On my original postcard, the background showed some surface wear and you may see that when you print your copy. Authentic antique status!

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

This scan is of the French actress Mademoiselle Robinne. This is a rare and unusual collage composition featuring a real portrait of the actress by the famous Paris photographer Reutlinger and a star-studded art nouveau style background -- all color tinted by hand. This card was mailed in 1908 -- a wonderful 100 year old image as beautiful today as it was a century ago. I have cleaned and cloned to make her face and hair as pristine as possible, but the rest of the card is still delightfully shabby chic and authentically antique (corner crease and all!)

Print and use immediately for collage art, decoupage -- or turn into a greeting card!

I call this image "Stop and Smell the Roses."
This is a scan of an antique postcard -- originally printed in Germany, mailed from Beligium in 1903 and addressed in French! The colors and design are fabulous -- 'tres, tres delicat," as the French would say. My original card is lightly embossed all over and it gives a wondrous effect to the whole image. Similar to a linen postcard where you can see the 'fabric' crosshatch design, this card has an itty bitty swiggle design for a wonderful texture. Of course, when you print out your scan, you won't have that. However, I think this image just screams out for some German glass beads -- because that is what I thought the card was covered with when I first saw it -- that's the effect of the embossing. Once again, I'm offering you a choice: a scan including Leon's little Bon Souvenir note at the bottom or a pristine, no French text version. In note to seller, BE SURE AND TELL ME which version you'd like! IF YOU DON'T SPECIFY, I'll send you the no French text version.

See what Wendy did with this image. Print and use immediately for a greeting card, ATC or gift tag!

This is a scan of an antique postcard of Marie Antoinette printed in Germany. There is no identification or information on the back of the card, so I don't know if this is one of the more than 30 portraits by Élisabeth-Louise Vigée-Le Brun of Marie or is this is a knock-off by someone else of Vigée-Le Brun's famous portrait of the queen holding the rose in front of her. What I am sure of is that this is a lovely lady in lavender and the card is just shabby chic enough to verify its antique status. The queen's face is immaculate but I have left other specks, scratches and signs of age/wear on the card as is for a perfect vintage look. It looks like I cut the edge of the rose off cropping in, but that is actually exactly how the postcard looks.

Just FYI, Mademoiselle Vigée-Le Brun (16 April 1755 - 30 March 1842) was a French painter, and, according to Wikipedia, is recognized as the "most famous woman painter of the eighteenth century." After the French revolution, she fled to Italy and continued her career.

Just looking for inspiration? Or want to buy an original piece of art, a ready-made gift? See what Greer did with this image! Print and use immediately!

This is a scan of an unused antique (pre-1903) French postcard. It's a scene depicting Marie Antoinette being escorted to the Trianon, a little house on the grounds of Versailles, which had been used for the Kings' mistresses:)
This image is shabbily chic. I have cleaned it up a lot, cloned out specks, spots, etc. BUT it still has its authentic, antique look with the silvering highlights at right (result of decades of chemical reactions between the paper and the photo chemicals).
I think this image could be used a variety of ways -- crop in and just make a sweet gift tag with "Marie" or print out the whole image for wall art!

It is a photo taken by Reutlinger(one of the most prestigious photography studioes in Paris) of an American soprano named Geraldine Farrar. Ironically in this scene she looks so humble and demure, but apparently in real life she was everything but:) Nonetheless, I have played a little in Photoshop, altering the background and giving it a cracked, embossed look. My original card has silver glitter accenting her robe and crown. I hope you have fun embellishing this image, too.

DIGITAL scan Woman with SWORD Fighter ROMAN Medieval image Antique French postcard

$1.99
ONE High resolution electronic image scanned at 300 DPI at full antique postcard size (about 3.5 by 5.5 inches) will be emailed to you within 24 hours upon payment -- if not sooner! Without my FrenchKissed logo, of course. Print and use immediately for collage art, decoupage or whatever artistic endeavor you dream of!

This is the type of scan that I think of as a therapy image! When you are creating a personal journal and want to capture deep feelings, you need strong images. This French postcard scan is just such an image. Dated 1906, the text at the bottom says "France without God." In other words: broken. What does the image say to you? Take away the French text and/or the cross in the background -- she could be a Roman or a Medieval maiden. She is certainly a fighter with her sword still firmly gripped and still wearing her breastplate armour. Everything about her says she has been weathering tough times (I purposely chose not to clean up this card at all! It has silvering, writing, scratches, specks -- all adding to the 'battered' look.) And yet -- one just knows that she will rise again full of strength, sword held high. A great image for a creative, therapeutic art session. NOTE: you will recieve the full view scan as seen in the second picture. The first pic is simply the gallery close-up view.

It is one of three scans I call "soft beauties":) There's a lot of play on light with this image that creates an ethereal look, a glow. Plus, the color tinting so gently combines with the fashion and the woman's classic beauty -- all coming together to create such a romantic portrait. Note the fabric butterfly on the front of the woman's dress! I love the way the pastels go from cool pink to a warm peach. DIGITAL Scans are perfect for inexpensive wall decor. While I usually clean up my French postcards to make them as pristine as possible, this one I have left "as is." It's definitely shabby chic. Still, despite the blemishes, this image is as 'CHARM'-ing as ever!

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. Without my French Kissed logo, of course! Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

This is a scan of a French postcard mailed in 1908. It is an advertisement for sheet music featuring the song M'aimez Vous? (Do you love me?). This card is what I call a natural collage: a colorful illustration, musical notes for a fun graphic element, plus a stamp and postal cancelation mark. I have cleaned and cloned it up some in Photoshop, but it's still just enough shabby chic to show its antique status:) This scan is one of my favorites because the red stamp is an almost perfect specimen of a PARIS postmark!

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. Direct your lover/sweetheart/boyfriend/significant other to this site and let him know what you'd like:)
NOTE: The necklace charm (can also be used as a bracelet charm) is listed at $22. Order at least two and get them for only $18 each. Wanna get your charm for FREE? Buy $100 in merchandise from either one of my online stores, and get your charm absolutely FREE! (That's a 22 percent discount!)

Hand made by fellow Etsy artisan Diane Thaemert of Two Charming Chix, this charm measures 1.5 by 1 inches. It is lead-free with a superbly detailed print of my original antique 1905 illustration between two pieces of glass.

There's such a wonderful, mysterious story behind this image.

The woman in the red coat with traffic stopped just for her -- looking very Edwardian, very Paris at the turn of the century, n'est-ce pas? This is a miniature print of an original drawing I have, not a mass produced postcard. My drawing is postcard size and I got it from a dealer in France. Indeed, I thought I was purchasing a hand-made, original French postcard. Imagine my surprise when I turned the piece of paper over and saw, amid lots of ink stains, this finely printed script:
Mr. William Stolz
on Tuesday, the sixteenth of May
one thousand nine hundred and five.
Brooklyn.
BROOKLYN?! I did more than a double-take. I looked again and again -- and then I headed for the Internet to see if I could shed any light on this mystery. Was Mr. Stolz an up-and-coming artist? Was this his grand calling card? An appointment reminder for a portrait setting?
I may never know the answers, but it's OK. The mystery only enhances the beautiful image. The original, not-so-French postcard stays put in my private collection, but the lady in the red coat has been resurrected and given new life in this charm.
I've matched up Mr. Stolz' beautiful illustration with a sweeping Paris script on the back. How's that for a perfect duo!

(That's a 22 percent discount!)

I've been working with fellow Etsy artisan Diane Thaemert of Two Charming Chix to create original charms with my antique French images. Well, she bought a rare Eiffel Tower postcard from me and made one of her own design! She is graciously allowing me to be a venue for her talent. This charm is 1.5 by 1 inches. It's lead-free soldering. Between the two pieces of glass are high quality prints with a Paris theme. One is a reproduction of a Paris Expo 1900 poster and the other is the aforementioned rare Eiffel Tower postcard. It's a photo postcard of the Eiffel with a 1939 stamp -- also with an Eiffel design celebrating the tower's 150th birthday. It's what I call an eyefull of Eiffels. (Sorry, bad pun but I can't help myself.) Two different color schemes on each side make for great versatility in what you can wear this reversible charm with!

Print and use immediately for collage art or decoupage.

This is a scan of a French postcard that I have 'edited.' The original postcard shows this beautiful little girl holding a fake pink fish. It is an April 1 card; April 1 to the French is like our Feb. 14 -- the day they tell someone how much they love them. Instead of the heart, they use the symbol of the fish (a 'holdover' from the tradition of Catholic Lent observances.) IF you like the fish and the surreal image, I'll send you the full view card IF YOU REQUEST IT. Otherwise, you'll just receive the first scan you see of the cropped tight version, focusing just on the sweet little beauty with the garland of flowers in her hair. The image shows its age some; it's not as pristine as most of my images. But she's so darling...defnitely worthy of a new life in a piece of altered art.

Without my FrenchKissed logo, of course:) Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

This is a scan of an antique French postcard mailed in 1906 to Madame Carle at the Maison de Convalescecne des Hospices in Saovie, France. [Did you know that convalescene and hospice were French words? Me neither!] The card is a real photo of an actress (Mlle. Guiraudon) taken by the well-know Reutlinger studio in Paris. Her face, her curly long hair -- she's stunning! This scan/card has a wonderful shabby chic, antique quality to it. I love the sepia tones and the effect of the silvering causing the funky shadows. The actress's look is almost rapturous -- there's an overall ethereal, ghostly quality to the portrait. Although I have cleaned up this card a lot in Photoshop, I have left the finger print smudge at top among the writing and other little 'imperfections,' signs of age, that give it such character and charm.

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. It CAN be resold in digital format if you alter the image enough to make it your own work of art. Without my FrenchKissed logo, of course. Print and use immediately.

In a hundred years, paper, photo chemicals and paints start to react. On many postcards I have there are lots of specks, spots, bumps. On this card, the Egg babies looked like chicken pox victims:) With the miracle of Photoshop, I have cleaned this card up a lot (not ready to restore the Cistine Chapel just yet....:) There are still enough "imperfections" on the scan to verify its antique status, but I feel confident in saying that you could enlarge it up to letter size and be awesomely impressed. The image is just so precious -- and this is a RARE postcard. I love it when I can say: I've never seen other cards like these before! Along with the 10,000+ French postcards that I've bought, I've looked at hundreds of thousands more. So, move over Cabbage Patch babies. These are Golden Egg babies! [Note that I have another scan in this series also available featuring just one baby in a huge egg.]

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. Without my FrenchKissed logo, of course. Print and use immediately!

This is a scan of an original postcard mailed to Paris in 1905. The original card had a green stamp in the upper left hand corner and, while I'm often a purist about some French postcards, I really felt the stamp was distracting. So I did a lot of cleaning and cloning in Photoshop on this card. It still has an antique look to it and it's far from perfect, but considerably cleaned up from the original that had lots of surface wear, scratches and specks. IF you are hosting a tea party, this would be a perfect image to use on your invitations!

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card or ATC!

There are some Belle Epoch starlets that I know some history about, but I can't find anything indepth about Cora Laparcerie. Cora is the beautiful woman in this scan of a postcard mailed in France in the early 1900s. I had been drooling and wanting this postcard for a long time, but it was tres cher. I came across other copies that were plain black and white photos or shoddily color tinted. But I had my heart set on this one. Not only is the color tinting superb, but the original card still bears the sequins and glitter glued on more than 100 years ago. When you print out your copy, perhaps you'll want to add your own sequins and glitter. In this scan, I have cleaned and cloned the background in Photoshop. I wanted to make the background a more pristine jet black to make Cora "pop out" all the more. I hope you enjoy Cora as much as I do! Without my FrenchKissed logo, of course. Print and use immediately for collage art, decoupage or whatever artistic endeavor you dream of!

This antique 1904 Spanish postcard of the woman with her arms spread out, wrapped in a simple sheathe, reminds me of a martyr -- a woman with a message who is willing to lay her life down for it. I think a collage artist can have a lot of creative fun with her; she is just such a compelling image. (On my original card, she has glittered dots lining her gown.) The ropes, being bound, all so symbolic. What does the image say to you? A heroine certainly whatever her story is! NOTE: you will recieve the full view scan as seen in the second picture. It is a real photo postcard that has been color tinted by hand, with thick white paint added, too, as accents on the Victorian/Edwardian girl's dress and hat. Also, if you look closely, you'll see where golf leaf was added to create a 'necklace.' When you print out your scan, you might want to follow suit:) A sweet romantic image of yesteryear. I have the original card for sale in my other shop. IF you compare, you will see that I have cleaned this image up just a little in a photo program, mostly lightening it. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card!

This is a scan of a French postcard mailed in 1904. What I find rather funny about this sweetheart of a collage is that looking at it, one would think: Oh yeah, C is for children. BUT this is a French postcard and in French, children are called "enfants." Well, actually, it's not a C at all. It represents the number 6! (thanks to a loyal customer who solved this mystery!) Personally, I think you could use this image as a C or a 6; either way, it is an endearing design, a great mix of illustration and real photo. You may recognize some of the children in the background -- they were regular photography studio models often featured in postcards.

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. The stamp cancellation was not clear but I can tell you this image dates to pre-1917. I love this actress's boots! She's one sexy Musketeer, don't you think? And the mosaic collage in the background is very unique. This is a real photo that has been color tinted by hand -- a black and white pic that some artist painstakingly painted by hand (working probably far below minimum wage at the turn of the century in the proverbial sweat shop!) The actress's stage name is Emelen, noted in the corner of the image -- sorry, I can't tell you any more info about her. She's not one I'm familar with.

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. This is a rare French card. In six-plus years of buying and selling, I have never seen another card like this one! I have touched up this image "un peu" in Photoshop, but overall it retains its antique status! I like the way the 'gold leaf' paint was applied to give the fake frame a hint of baroque style. Nice touches of pastel color tinting -- all done a century ago. OH, you'll see this little girl in other postcards. She was a regular model with a photo studio. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

This is a scan of a postcard printed before 1903 (which is why the writing is all on the front -- only the address could go on the back side). A very unique card, the sender wrote his message in a wonderfully weird way! Not truly a 'secret' code, but I think his attempt was to copy the look or style of heiroglyphics. What the sender has done is written the French words as letters within letters. I can make out such words as life, good luck and search. During the Golden Age of Postcards (1889-1914), cards like this were produced by the millions. It is the writing and the message that makes these mass-produced cards unique and one of a kind. This is an original scan that has been touched up in Photoshop just "un peu." Any signs of age add to its uniqueness and authenticates its antique status! A sexy little belly dancer -- harkening from France's colonial days in Algeria and other parts of Africa.

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally as is. Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card.

This jpeg photo/digital scan is of a French postcard mailed in 1922 from a father to his daughter, sending her wishes for a happy birthday. The original drawing on the front is dated and signed by the artist -- who I think, from what I can deduce -- was the father himself. You get to collaborate with an artist from the Roaring '20s. How cool is that! "C.M." signed and dated the postcard Dec. 15, 1922. It was mailed to Mademoiselle Mastrup on Dec. 13, 1922! Yeah, that fries the brain a bit, doesn't it? So the conclusion I've drawn is Daddy Mastrup (C.M.) drew this portrait of his daughter and mailed it to her two days before her birthday. The back of the drawing looks just like a regular "carte postale." (I've scanned it in, also, for your viewing pleasure. Please note: I won't send a scan of the back UNLESS you request it -- let me know if you want it when you put in your order under message from buyer.) It was actually quite common for folks to customize postcards back then and create their own. They would add stickers, have their photo taken and have that turned into a postcard or, like this one, make their own design.

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally. Do a word search in my shop and you'll find another one of her "Marie Antoinette" style:)The French script on the side starts out "affectionate souvenirs"...and concludes most fittingly with "au revoir" (good bye). The sender wrote all over the back but no date; however I'm confident in saying this image is pre-WWI. You might want to crop off the white border and French text at bottom -- but then again, you might want to use that No. 25 Paris star for another project. And since my scans are large (just under 3.5 by 5.5 inches), at 300 dpi, you could enlarge that itty bitty Paris star and have it be a graphic all unto itself in your collage or gift tag.....OH, I cleaned this card up a lot, but I also left some specks and spots and other signs of its antique status for a perfect 'shabbily chic' look!

Print and use immediately for collage art, decoupage -- or turn into a greeting card!

This is a scan of an antique postcard mailed to Belgium in 1909. I associate all white-haired women of the late 18th century with Marie Antoinette! I don't really know how else to describe them -- a beauty all of its own with the 'premature' gray look, and of course, the prerequisite beauty mark! This is a real photo, color tinted by hand, with a sublime illustrated backdrop -- perfect space for your own customized touches. Researching on Wikipedia, I learned that women never really got into the white wig look like men did. They mostly used hair extensions and the white look was created by using powder made from starch. Tres interesting, n'est-ce pas?!

Print and use immediately for collage or altered book art, decoupage, bookmarker or tags, greeting cards --- or whatever other creative way you can think of!

This is a scan of a vintage postcard that is an original watercolor drawing. About all I can tell you with certainty is that it is dated April 27, 1921 and -- I love the innocence and humor of the drawing. While the child naps, the 'doll' looks to be having a panic attack because a spider is weaving its way down right over her head! My card came to me from France, but the script is maybe Flemish? Now, one advantage to my images being 300 dpi, scanned at full size, is that if you wanted to crop and focus on just the spider and the dolls in the cradle to use on an ATC or in a collage (like in the second example), you could easily enlarge it without losing any clarity. This entire scan can easily be enlarged to letter size (8x11) -- perhaps a fun piece to use as wall decor in a nursery?!

Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card to send to family and friends!

Here is a scan of an antique French postcard -- that almost got the best of me!ha! I love this woman's portrait. With the pearls woven into her curly hair and her lovely profile, she reminds me of a Renaissance beauty. However, my original card had a stamp with an ugly smudged postal cancelation and a happy new year greeting in French added by hand. I'm embarrassed to say that I spent about 3 hours starting completely over 4-5 times in trying to clone out that stamp! Cloning a gradient background is the most difficult thing to make it look natural. Anyway, I've got more stubborness than talent and I refused to give up. I am not happy with my finished product, but I'm counting on you doing your own collage magic, using beeswax and all those other artsy glosses, paints, etc., to camouflage the ugly background. DESPITE the ugly background, the woman is as beautiful as ever and I hope you'll love her like I do.

Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book, make into your own greeting card, gift tag -- whatever!

Here is another scan in my Queen series. This is Gilda in her gilded crown! My original postcard was mailed to a gentleman in Paris in 1905! This scan of Mademoiselle Darty is very shabby chic. For every 100 specks I removed, there remains a couple behind. The postal cancellation circle on the back has bled through to the front. The black background has long faded and turned to 'silver.' It's these very signs of authenticity that make this such a great image, I think. I find it strange that a century ago, the 'photo retoucher' (as postcard artists were called) painted the tall fleur de lis on the crown but not the short round pieces. That will be easy enough for you to do when you work your magic and alter this scan for your pet project!

PLEASE NOTE: My shop policies specify that if you buy a scan for commercial use, it must be ALTERED enough to make it your own work of art. Print and use immediately for making personal greeting cards, ATCs, altered art, whatever!

This is a scan of an antique postcard featuring a real photo of a lovely woman taken by Reutlinger of Paris. That single name -- associated with photos of all the actresses and stage stars/dancers at the turn of the century -- was actually a trio of photographers: two brothers originally from Germany and the son of one of them born in Peru. Their photography studio was next door to the Chicago Times' European office in Paris!) Although the woman in this card is not identified, I'm sure she is a stage star of yesteryear. I call her Ms. Attitude cause I think she displays a lot of it in this pose. She reminds me of Helen Reddy's song "I am Woman!" A strong image to use in your collage art. Notice that this is a scan of a real photo that has been color tinted by hand -- a winning combination to create a great effect. Now also, you'll see I've scanned in a close-up section to show you that this card has an interesting charactistic -- lots of dots and specks almost like a marble or granite pattern, like pointalism -- which I'm assuming is the result of the paper content. I, personally, love the effect. All the more authentic and antique looking. IF you print this scan out small, you may not even be able to see it. But if you print this out large (say, wall art size of 8 x 11) it might show up. OH, just fyi: my original postcard that this scan is made from -- it it unused and hence, no postmark, but it has an undivided back which dates its printing to 1903 or earlier. Printed in Germany -- as millions of the best French postcards were:)

Looking for inspiration or a ready made gift with this image? Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book or make into your own greeting card, gift tag or wall art!

This is a scan of a woman I'm sure you've seen many times in collage art. Her name is Cleo de Merode and she was a famous ballerina at the turn of the century who became infamously known as King Leopold's mistress. She decried having her picture on everything. She could sit for one photo shoot and her picture would resurface hundred fold reused and reformatted (cropped, made into a collage, put on a different background, added to photos of other actresses, etc.) over and over by printers/photographers. Back then celebrities didn't have any control over their image and publicity like today. As much as she hated seeing her likeness everywhere, she was at least identified! I think if she were alive today and saw her face on nationally distributed greeting cards totally anonymous and not even named, she would be even more horrified.

I am happy to share this rare image of Cleo de Merode with you and even if you crop her name off in your collage -- at least you do know who she is! OK, off my soap box now:)

What I also find very interesting about this particular postcard (postmarked 1910) is the gold mosaic background. Adobe Photoshop has a feature that allows you to create this special effect easily with a mouse click. But this card was created almost 100 years ago! I wonder if Photoshop creaters got their idea from postcards just like this one?

Print and use immediately!

This is a scan -- front and back --- of an antique French postcard mailed in 1901 to Asnieres, France (near Paris -- "pres Paris" as it says on the back of the card.) Now, I usually crop my postcard images into the straight edge, but as you see, this card doesn't have a straight edge. In fact, it's deliciously uneven with it ragged edge. This one has the look and feel of thick watercolor, fine art paper. So I have left a border on the outside to allow you to print this out and have enough room to cut/tear to re-create the original ragged edge. I love the way the French script runs around the delicate pen and ink drawing. I am also including a scan of the back of the postcard because it's such a perfect "natural" collage. Note that it was mailed from Switzerland or Helvetia, as it used to be called.

Print and use immediately for collage art, in your altered book, an ATC or turn into a gift tag.

This is a scan of an antique postcard of Marie Antoinette. My original card is unused and undated, but its undivided back tells me that it was printed in 1903 or before. That explains the silvering highlights you see in the black background -- a chemical reaction that happens after about 100 years. My card also had a mysterious 26 imprint across the queen's face -- of all indignities. Thanks to the miracle of Photoshop, la reine est tres belle encore. But again, I emphasize, that although I cleaned off the graffitti, the background is mostly untouched. So it's not a solid pristine black but you'll see gradients in the shading and signs to verify its antique status.
I think this image would make a most elegant gift tag -- and it just cries out for some black and white toile!

Without my FrenchKissed logo, of course. Print and use immediately.

This is a scan of an antique French postcard, originally sent almost a century ago to wish the recipient good health for the new year. Notice at the bottom by the hanging doll there is a basket of eggs! A fitting symbol, I suppose, of good health [fertility!] for the coming year. I think the design lends itself to be a perfect gift tag, don't you?!

TERMS OF USE: If you intend to use this image to resell, please follow these guidelines -- it is NOT to be resold digitally AS IS. IF you print the image to resell, add your own ribbon, glitter and/or other embellishements to make it your own. Merci beaucoup!
