HOW DID YOU MAKE IT?

Well, after I spent hours and hours painting the original with watercolor paints, I scanned it in order to create stunning prints like this. My Professional Giclee Inkjet Printer is loaded with nozzles that spray out waterproof high-definition ink with amazing accuracy. Able to impress small armies and large bunnies - this print looks sweet.
I then reduced the size to "itty-bitty" (forgive my technical jargon), trimmed it carefully, and adhered it to the bottom of a glass tile with clear Diamond Glaze.
Once that dried I adhered yet another piece of what-have-you to the underside of the pendant. Sometimes I use origami paper, sometimes bits of crossword puzzles, sometimes steamy historical romance excerpts. It's always a surprise, even to me.
When that dried, I applied about 3 - 5 coats of glaze. Then finally the Sterling Silver plated Aanraku bail (for attaching to a necklace).
After that I went for a massage.

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH IT?

1. give it to your best friend to say sorry for posting her diary on Facebook
2. dangle it from your rearview mirror
3. flaunt it (obviously)

5. you could wear it around your neck too, I suppose...
6. but please, DO NOT wear it skinny-dipping.
(I've carefully sealed this to be water, oil and stain resistant, which doesn't mean entirely water-proof)

Well, after I spent hours and hours sketching and painting the original Warm & Happy Penguin, I decided he was just too darn cute to be a one-off. So I saved the sketch and now, from time to time, I paint him again by drawing it in ink and then wetting the whole penguin with water and dropping in pure watercolor pigment. In this case, I decided it was time to "flip him around" so that collectors can enjoy TWO penguins - one facing right, the other facing left. It's unsaturated and trans-fat free.

WOW - THAT'S SO COOL! HOW DO WE GET STARTED?
------------------------------------------------------------

All you need to do is send high-quality photos, taken in very good lighting situations (no "studio portraits" please!) I prefer to work from outdoor shots whenever possible (look through those photos you took at the park or the beach, for example). Do not worry about who or what else is in the photo, as I will be picking out fun details to paint anyway. I usually prefer to crop right into the subject's face, as you can see in my sample portraits.

If you are browsing through your photos, trying to find good ones for portraits, I strongly recommend ones that are either taken in sunlight, with a bit of shadow for interest, and/or photos where the subject is "at rest" or pensive. The best portraits are those where the subject is at their most natural and not smiling. Aim for a photo where the subject's face is turned slightly, with a bit of profile (or full profile if you prefer) - not facing "head on" into the camera.

HOW DID YOU MAKE IT?

Well, after I spent hours and hours painting the original with watercolor paints, I scanned it in order to create stunning prints like this. My Professional Giclee Inkjet Printer is loaded with nozzles that spray out waterproof high-definition ink with amazing accuracy. Able to impress small armies and large bunnies - this print looks sweet.
I then reduced the size to "itty-bitty" (forgive my technical jargon), trimmed it carefully, and adhered it to the bottom of a glass tile with clear Diamond Glaze.
Once that dried I adhered yet another piece of what-have-you to the underside of the pendant. Sometimes I use origami paper, sometimes bits of crossword puzzles, sometimes steamy historical romance excerpts. It's always a surprise, even to me.
When that dried, I applied about 3 - 5 coats of glaze. Then finally the Sterling Silver plated Aanraku bail (for attaching to a necklace).
After that I went for a massage.

(I've carefully sealed this to be water, oil and stain resistant, which doesn't mean entirely water-proof)

All you need to do is send high-quality photos, taken in very good lighting situations (no "studio portraits" please!) I prefer to work from outdoor shots whenever possible (look through those photos you took at the park or the beach, for example). Do not worry about who or what else is in the photo, as I will be picking out fun details to paint anyway. I usually prefer to crop right into the subject's face, as you can see in my sample portraits.

If you are browsing through your photos, trying to find good ones for portraits, I strongly recommend ones that are either taken in sunlight, with a bit of shadow for interest, and/or photos where your child is "at rest" or pensive. If you want a group painting, first consider these points about a single subject:

1) when it comes time to pass along the portrait, each person can take their own portrait home.

2) if the size of the family changes, you can add another separate portrait without it looking out of place

3) you can find the absolute BEST photo of each person for the portrait.

4) when you have several people in one photo, chances are that the portrait will look "posed", which I try to avoid when painting.

5) it looks great on a wall having several similar portraits grouped together, even if they are different sizes.

Well, after I spent hours and hours painting the original with watercolor paints, I scanned it in order to create stunning prints like this. My Professional Giclee Inkjet Printer is loaded with nozzles that spray out waterproof high-definition ink with amazing accuracy. Able to impress small armies and large bunnies - this print looks sweet.
I then reduced the size to "itty-bitty" (forgive my technical jargon), trimmed it carefully, and adhered it to the bottom of a glass tile with clear Diamond Glaze.
Once that dried I adhered yet another piece of what-have-you to the underside of the pendant. Sometimes I use origami paper, sometimes bits of crossword puzzles, sometimes steamy historical romance excerpts. It's always a surprise, even to me.
When that dried, I applied about 3 - 5 coats of glaze. Then finally the Sterling Silver plated Aanraku bail (for attaching to a necklace).
After that I went for a massage.

1. give it to your best friend to say sorry for posting her diary on Facebook

(I've carefully sealed this to be water, oil and stain resistant, which doesn't mean entirely water-proof)

Then I wet it down with water and dropped in pure watercolor pigment then finished it off with India Ink. It's totally saturated, yet trans-fat free. So go ahead and indulge.

HOW DID YOU MAKE IT?

This is an original illustration, with pink watercolor paint. After the paint dried, I trimmed it carefully, and adhered it to the bottom of a glass tile with clear Diamond Glaze.
Once that dried I adhered yet another piece of what-have-you to the underside of the pendant. Sometimes I use origami paper, sometimes bits of crossword puzzles, sometimes steamy historical romance excerpts. It's always a surprise, even to me.
When that dried, I applied about 3 - 5 coats of glaze. Then finally the Sterling Silver plated Aanraku bail (for attaching to a necklace).
After that I went for a massage.

HOW DO WE GET STARTED?
------------------------------------------------------

All you need to do is send high-quality photos, taken in very good lighting situations (no "studio portraits" please!) I prefer to work from outdoor shots whenever possible (look through those photos you took at the park or the beach, for example). Do not worry about who or what else is in the photo, as I will be picking out fun details to paint anyway. I usually prefer to crop right into the subject's face, as you can see in my sample portraits.

If you are browsing through your photos, trying to find good ones for portraits, I strongly recommend ones that are either taken in sunlight, with a bit of shadow for interest, and/or photos where your child is "at rest" or pensive. The best portraits are those where the subject is at their most natural and not smiling.

If you want a group painting, first consider these points about a single subject:

1) when it comes time to pass along the portrait, each person can take their own portrait home.

2) if the size of the family changes, you can add another separate portrait without it looking out of place

3) you can find the absolute BEST photo of each person for the portrait.

4) when you have several people in one photo, chances are that the portrait will look "posed", which I try to avoid when painting.

5) it looks great on a wall having several similar portraits grouped together, even if they are different sizes.

Last year I planted far too many Canna Lily bulbs. I did not believe that they would all bloom, and last so long. My home looked like a jungle in the front, with Cannas reaching up to the sky and covering the entire garden!

This is a brand new painting in vibrant reds and yellows. I took some photos in September because I simply could not believe that the Cannas were still blooming, and I have been waiting to paint these until now.

Because of the water-soluble nature of watercolors, I always wrap my artwork in plastic before shipping. It will be shipped with rigid board to protect against any damage during shipping.

HOW DID YOU MAKE IT?

Well, after I spent hours and hours painting the original with watercolor paints, I scanned it in order to create stunning prints like this. My Professional Giclee Inkjet Printer is loaded with nozzles that spray out waterproof high-definition ink with amazing accuracy. Able to impress small armies and large bunnies - this print looks sweet.
I then reduced the size to "itty-bitty" (forgive my technical jargon), trimmed it carefully, and adhered it to the bottom of a glass tile with clear Diamond Glaze.
Once that dried I adhered yet another piece of what-have-you to the underside of the pendant. Sometimes I use origami paper, sometimes bits of crossword puzzles, sometimes steamy historical romance excerpts. It''''''''''''''''s always a surprise, even to me.
When that dried, I applied about 3 - 5 coats of glaze. Then finally the Sterling Silver plated Aanraku bail (for attaching to a necklace).
After that I went for a massage.

HOW DID YOU MAKE IT?

Well, after I spent hours and hours painting the original with watercolor paints, I scanned it in order to create stunning prints like this. My Professional Giclee Inkjet Printer is loaded with nozzles that spray out waterproof high-definition ink with amazing accuracy. Able to impress small armies and large bunnies - this print looks sweet.
I then reduced the size to "itty-bitty" (forgive my technical jargon), trimmed it carefully, and adhered it to the bottom of a glass tile with clear Diamond Glaze.
Once that dried I adhered yet another piece of what-have-you to the underside of the pendant. Sometimes I use origami paper, sometimes bits of crossword puzzles, sometimes steamy historical romance excerpts. It's always a surprise, even to me.
When that dried, I applied about 3 - 5 coats of glaze. Then finally the Sterling Silver plated Aanraku bail (for attaching to a necklace).
After that I went for a massage.

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH IT?

1. give it to your best friend to say sorry for posting her diary on Facebook
2. dangle it from your rearview mirror
3. flaunt it (obviously)

5. you could wear it around your neck too, I suppose...
6. but please, DO NOT wear it skinny-dipping.
(I've carefully sealed this to be water, oil and stain resistant, which doesn't mean entirely water-proof)

How the original was made:
Scarlett's dress was painted using a liquid mask. In transparent watercolor paintings, there is no "white" or light colored paint. So in order to embellish her dress, I first painted it with a watered-down wash of Perylene Green, allowed it to dry completely, then "painted" each individual dot on her dress with Masking Fluid. When that dried, I painted over the entire dress again with a stronger mix of the same green. Once the paint was dry, I rubbed off the Masking Fluid, leaving the lighter colored flowers intact underneath.

Also available as an ACEO print.

All you need to do is send high-quality photos, taken in very good lighting situations (no "studio portraits" please!) I prefer to work from outdoor shots whenever possible (look through those photos you took at the park or the beach, for example). Do not worry about who or what else is in the photo, as I will be picking out fun details to paint anyway. I usually prefer to crop right into the subject's face, as you can see in my sample portraits.

If you are browsing through your photos, trying to find good ones for portraits, I strongly recommend ones that are either taken in sunlight, with a bit of shadow for interest, and/or photos where your child is "at rest" or pensive. If you want a group painting, first consider these points about a single subject:

1) when it comes time to pass along the portrait, each person can take their own portrait home.

2) if the size of the family changes, you can add another separate portrait without it looking out of place

3) you can find the absolute BEST photo of each person for the portrait.

4) when you have several people in one photo, chances are that the portrait will look "posed", which I try to avoid when painting.

5) it looks great on a wall having several similar portraits grouped together, even if they are different sizes.
