Just the right size for a small space, this delightful gourd is approx. 5"(12 1/2cm)tall and has a circumferance of 16 1/2" (42cm). It is dyed a warm dark orange inside and out and is rimmed in warm green-, brown-, and purple-hued yarns, accented with four small glass beads. Although curved, this will stand upright on its own.

The colors are great anytime, but the warm tones will look especially nice during the autumn holidays.

Gourd and pine needle basket

Beautiful handcrafted gourd and pine needle basket. The gourd measures approx. 9"x9" (22cm x 22cm), with a 'nipple' at the bottom. This one is dyed a rich mahogony; it appears almost reddish-brown. Four coils of pine needles accent the top; the binding is waxed linen. The coils are seperated by two glass beads. The pine needles were gathered by me and my daughter in the Heavenly Valley area of South Lake Tahoe, CA. While primarily intended for decorative purposes only, this gourd can be used to hold lightweight items: cloth napkins for that special dinner party, flowers or a candle in protective holders, fruit or even as a cloth-lined dinner roll holder, or simply as a unique piece of art. Avoid direct contact with water and prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Large Gourd Basket with Feathers and Arrowhead

This unique basket will add beauty to any room, particularly one with a western theme. It is approx. 7"(18cm) high with a circumference of 31"(79cm). The inside is painted a dark tan; the outside has been dyed a reddish brown. Both have a satin finish. Three rows of coiled pine needles rim the top, set off by two feathers and a sandstone arrowhead.

This oblong-shaped beauty measures approx. 8"(20cm) from end to end, 3-1/2"(9cm) high, and 4"(10cm) wide. It has been dyed a deep purple inside and out, rimmed in yarns of varying purple hues, and set off by four complimentary glass beads bound with dark blue wire.

You know those tags on clothing that say something to the effect of "Imperfections are a sign this garment was handmade and is a sign of character"? Well, on either end of this gourd there is a small area that got just one layer of dye (oversight on my part), so that one area is a wee bit lighter. Noticible, but not distracting. I almost covered it up, but decided against it. The bigger area shows in one of the photos.

Green Gourd and Pine Needle Bowl or Basket with Glass Beads

This beauty is approx 5"(13cm) tall with a circumferance of 24"(61cm). I dyed it with overlapping colors of green. The four coils of pine needles are bound with blue waxed linen and accented with one blue and one green glass bead. The inside has been dyed a brown/amber color and sealed.
