One-of-a-kind artwork done of a blue & gold macaw wearing a santa hat. Even birds like to get into the spirit of things!

Artwork is the small ACEO (art cards editions & originals) size of only 2.5" X 3.5" Done on Black Vellum Bristol with a nice smooth finish. Paper is very thick and is 80 lb weight acid & lignin free. Artwork has also been sprayed with a fixative to hold in the colors, so it will not smear or fade. Artwork is done with Prismacolor colored pencils. And is made in much the same way as a painting, layer by layer.

Art card is the original and NOT a print.

All my cards are mounted to a nice piece of card-stock to make it stronger.

ACEO ATC Calopus Mythical Art Original Fantasy Artwork by Nina Bolen A to Z Fantasy ACEO

I wanted to do a serese of A to Z fantasy animals in the small ACEO size.

This is C:
The Calopus is described as having a large, wolf like body, a felid face, a boar like snout and a beard like that of a goat. Said to support its self on cloven fore hooves, and a reptilian like hindquarter. The first known depiction of the Calopus was found carved into a block of wood in Norfolk England’s Raveningham Church. The church itself was erected sometime around 1383, and although this carving is the first known physical representation of the Calopus, a similar beast existed in ancient Babylon, where it was sometimes called the Chatloup or the Aptaleon.

Again this is my own depiction if the animal, he's a bit more wolf like.

Artwork is the small ACEO (art cards editions & originals) size of only 2.5" X 3.5" Done on hand-made paper with a nice texture. Paper is very thick and is 60 lb weight acid & lignin free. Artwork has also been sprayed with a fixative to hold in the colors, so it will not smear or fade. Artwork is done with Prismacolor colored pencils and free-hand inks. This was molded after a very young orange-winged amazon so he had yet to develop any blue on his face. A super cute bird with tons of personality!

My vision of good vs evil is not the normally angel and demon or god and devil but more from a mythological view point.

It's always been interesting to me that 2 animals with the same name "dragon" could be viewed so very differently in folklore.

Evil:
The western dragon though out time has been depicted as a demon like animal, that burns villages and eats fair maidens. In legend they are killed by knights, and sometimes are associated with the devil.

Good:
The Eastern dragon, has been a symbol of good luck, and protection. Worn by royalty and sometimes depicted as a god, with the power to control water and the weather.

8.5" X 11" Now comes in a nice wood frame with glass front.

Done in free-hand ink (no erasing so there are mistakes)
Colored with copic markers and prismacolors

This one's looks so much better in person & scan just does not do it justice.

Done in prismacolor colored pencils on black paper. Done layer by layer much like a painting. Horns are a shiny metallic gold.

OOAK Tiny Fairy Mask Hand-made Fantasy Sculpture by Artist Nina Bolen Original Fantasy Art

While walking down my primrose path I noticed something sparkling. There I found a tiny mask. Maybe lost by a fairy or left for me to find. The fairy craftsmanship is very tiny and delicate!

About the art:
This tiny mask is all hand-sculpted by me Nina Bolen. Made from a blend of polymer clays and then painted with heat-set oils. Mask is painted in a light purple/pink color and has a nice sparkle to it that can't really been seen in the pictures. There is a real pink swarovski crystal set in the mask.

The tiny mask is only 1.5" tall and 2" across at the largest point. Mask is made to be hung on the wall or simply displayed on a shelf. Inspired by the artwork of Brian Froud, and this mask looks so much better in person! It could even be worn as a necklace!

Please note if you plan to display this mask on a doll or fairy be carful when tying the string. Unlike a real mask the clay will not give and can be broken if pulled to tight.

Comes with metallic thread for handing and a frame for display (not pictured)

"East African Crowned Crane"

This bird gets its name from the distinctive golden "crown" of feathers on its head. It lives in open areas and grasslands, where it feeds on grass seeds, insects, frogs and lizards. Crowned cranes usually mate for life. Both the male and female cooperate in building the nest, and in defending the eggs and the chicks. Crowned crane parents often pretend to be injured to lure predators away from their nestlings.

I had a lot of fun working with these goof birds :)

I wanted to do more flamingo art but didn't want it to look too much like my last one, so I did a greater flamingo. The greater flamingo is much more of a "hot pink" compared to other flamingos!

Meet "Calcifer" named after a fire demon. This mini dragon bust is a true one-of-a-kind & hand sculpted using no molds of any kind.

Made from a blend of polymer clay & epoxy sculpt resin. The fragile areas like the horns and the fins down his back are all made from the epoxy sculpt resin so there is no fear of them breaking in shipping.

This dragon has been painted with high quality heal set oils and then sealed with a varnish to keep the colors from fading. I've also added a shinny gloss glaze on the eyes for that "wet" look. The colors have been added in layers and have had a special rubbing effect done. He even has metallic paint added for extra shine.

Dragon head is only 2.5" tall!! That's counting the horns. He's very detailed and the pictures just don't do him justice. He looks so much better in "person". Yes even his eyes have been hand-painted, & they are very detailed!

He has a tiny real Swarovski crystal set in his head, and his eyes have added reflection that can't really be seen in the photos. His horns are also a nice metallic gold, that does not show very well in the pictures.

"Benny the Beaver"
Super cute little brown beaver made from vintage mini bear fabric with ultrasuede tail. The fabric has a very nice shine to it that you can't really see from the picture, the fabric is very mush like velvet.

I make all my own patterns and design my bears so no two are ever just alike!

Benny is just under 4" tall when standing & about 3" tall when sitting. Beaver is 5-way jointed so she can sit or stand & he also features a wire armature in his arms and tail so they can be gently posed.

Features black stone beads for eyes. Mouth is sewn with pearl cotton and lots of needle sculpted for detail. His tiny teeth are needle felted. Both his nose and teeth have been coated with a special gloss to make them shinny. He has detail needle sculpted toes on his feet & hands. This little guy looks so much better in person.

Benny comes with his very own little birch wool log! He features a cute bow tied around his neck. He also comes with a cute gift box (not pictured), and a certificate of authenticity.

This is made to be a collectors bear and not a toy, not suggested for kids.

I love all animals but I tend to do more bird art than anything so I wanted to do something different. So I did an African Lion. This artwork was modeled after a young male lion so he still had his baby spots.

Artwork is the small ACEO (art cards editions & originals) size of only 2.5" X 3.5" Done on Black Vellum Bristol with a nice smooth finish. Paper is very thick and is 80 lb weight acid & lignin free. Artwork has also been sprayed with a fixative to hold in the colors, so it will not smear or fade. Artwork is done with Prismacolor colored pencils. And is made in much the same way as a painting, layer by layer.

Art card is the original and NOT a print.

All my cards are mounted to a nice piece of card-stock to make it stronger.

I scanned this artwork at 300dpi but the details are still lost once the image is uploaded.
