Pamela woke up in the middle of the night, sleepy and a little confused. A forest had cropped up in her bedroom and her teddy bear was wandering off into it. She slipped out of bed and followed him into the woods. He sat down under a large tree, and there Pamela found a ball of yarn. She picked up the yarn and began knitting her bear, who had become rather large and un-teddy-like, a cozy yellow scarf. Several birds in the vicinity became concerned about the young girl knitting away for the large bear, and so they watched over her from the tree. If that bear were to try to gobble her down, the birds would swoop in and rescue lovely Pamela.

Molly and Pete, a rather gullible brother and sister pair, were nearly tricked by their older sister Gloria. She told them that in order to see a beautiful owl, they needed to stand in a field all night and pretend to be a tree. This was intended to be a joke on Molly and Pete, but look! It worked perfectly and now they've got four lovely owls to admire.

Johnny saved his allowance for three weeks to buy the little aeroplane he saw in the window of Laura's Toy Shoppe. His mom can see him from the window of their little home as she makes dinner, but when she calls him to come join the family at the table, she hears him yell back:
"Not hungry!"
He dashes around with the plane in the hair, dreaming of the day he'll be able to fly in a real aeroplane. His mother just smiles and puts his dinner in the fridge.

The Curious Tale of the Owl in the Cowl

In the north, there lives a rare breed of owl. Their home is quite cold, so their moods are quite foul. They always scowl. They don't hoot, they growl. They're always on the prowl for something to take away their scowl.

One scowling growling foul owl went to town to steal a towel. She wrapped herself in the towel, and though she was warm, she still felt foul. The towel was ugly, so the growling foul fowl, howled and scowled and threw in the towel.

Another scowling growling owl, went on Etsy and bought a cowl. A pretty, knitted, handmade cowl. And wouldn't you know it - she didn't scowl! She looked so cute, she didn't growl. She started to hoot, no need to howl. This owl bought a hundred cowls, and gave one to all the owls. And ever since, these northern owls, haven not been seen with a scowl.

His colleagues and friends, knowing Cornelius to be a wonderfully peculiar little dandy, haven't bothered to mention to him how entirely useless an umbrella would be to him in the rain, as it would simply get caught in his impressive rack of antlers.

Margery is an adventurous young woman, who had, until recently, been travelling to beautiful and exotic places on her own. Suddenly one mid-winter's day, a rather chilled looking bird flew through her door as she was coming home from a little shopping trip. This charming little bluebird gave her an inquisitive look, and lovely Margery smiled back.
She made a little home for her new friend and took wonderful care of him. She named him William and soon they were like two peas in a pod. Now she has a special little friend (who happens to share her love of vintage suitcases) to share her adventures with.

This adventurous duo is painted on 9x12" canvas that is painted around the edges so that you can hang it unframed.

Amelia was the quite the woman about town in the 1950s. She disappeared quite suddenly, in the middle of a rather outrageous party. Rumours flied about her whereabouts. Had she run off with that handsome musician? Was she sick of this fast-paced cocktail-filled lifestyle? Nobody knew. But I'll tell you! She dashed off out of that party without anybody seeing. She had an idea for a novel. She hopped on a plane for Paris and sat in cafes for months smoking cigarettes and writing a brilliant novel. She published that beautiful story and many more under a pseudonym.

Arnold The Clown - Original

It's 1933 and Arnold is unimpressed. As a wondrously imaginative child, he came up with dozens of exciting things he could be for Halloween over a month ago. However, when he asked his dear mother to sew him a costume lush with tentacles and extra bulging eyes, she refused and insisted that he wear his older brother's old clown costume. Here he stands, right after letting out a big sigh, for a formal portrait in his costume. However, you don't need to worry about our lovely little Arnold for long. This year he's going to sneak his sister's sewing books away and teach himself so that next Halloween, he can be a terrifying swamp monster.

Our lovely young friend Arnold (who survives his service in the second world war and grows up to own and operate a successful chain of bakeries) is painted on 9"x12" stretched canvas, 1/2" thick, that is painted on the edges and ready to hang.

Meet the lovely young lady, Clara. She works tirelessly at a local used book store called Pecan Books where she has thousands of books stored in her head. Ask her for anything! She'll know if it is currently in Pecan Books' stock and exactly where to find it. She'll probably also give you a good deal if you buy several books. Though most customers believe that nothing could make pretty Clara happier than the smell of vintage books, they couldn't be more wrong. Clara comes home each night to Simon, her pet octopus. Simon is an intelligent creature and certainly worthy of the adoration Clara bestows on him. She paints watercolours of him and hangs them on her walls, as you can see behind her.

He has a sprawling collection of guns, a half-dozen handsome and obedient hounds, and a talented taxidermist who has been able to give his children an education due to all the business Lord Marcus gives him. His favourite animals to hunt, for some unimaginable reason, are wolves and bears.

Dolly found this baby bird in her back yard, and brought it inside. The poor little bird was hurt and sad, and dear Dolly nursed it back to health. She gave the little bird so much love that it grew and grew and got bigger and stronger than any other bird has ever been. The little darling, whom Dolly named Miranda, is only a few weeks old. Already they're the toast of the town, getting attention from all the passers by. Miranda is going to grow up to be a very classy bird, indeed.

This youngster, named Edmund, received a pair of roller skates as a gift from the sweet old woman who lives next door. His father took him to the park today to try them out, and Edmund surprises him with his amazing balance. When he gets a little older, Edmund will be the greatest roller disco superstar in town. For now, though, he's just so happy to be spending time with his dad.

This sweet young man is named Gerard. Ever since he was a young boy, nothing brought his little heart more joy than a lovely, ripe avocado. He eats them, he takes advantage of their lovely moisturizing properties, and he even has an Etsy shop where he sells necklaces made from avocado pits. This splendid man's dedication to avocados had to be captured, and so I have painted him with his charming moustache and dapper sweater vest just for you!

Mabel is waiting outside for her Dad. She's delighted - they're taking a trip together to visit her uncle's farm. She hasn't been there in three years, but fondly remembers toying with kittens and jumping around in the hay and getting to ride horses. She's going to get to spend two whole weeks having fun and learning about animals. The car is all packed, everything is ready to go, and now Mabel just has to wait patiently for her father to come out. He is currently packing a few secret goodies for Mabel to snack on during the ride.

Suzy loves to boogie. She's the funkiest little doe-headed beauty on skates. Every morning she grabs her portable cassette player and dances all over town. She's gaining quite a following, which is worrying all the parents in her neighborhood as their children try in vain to match Suzy's roller-disco prowess. But the angry mothers can wave their rolling-pins at her all they want - Suzy Timebomb just can't be stopped!

This is not your grandmother's storybook villain! Johnny von Bad is a diabolical genius fond of schemes, hairspray, and his classic black chucks. How he got those tight pants on, we'll never know.

This precious little painting is a study from one of two Children's Books I'm working on. It is an original 5"x7" acrylic painting on stretched canvas. It sticks out 1/2" from the wall and the edges are painted chocolate brown so that it doesn't need a frame.

I have been making these to perfect characters, colours, and the general feeling of the books. I can't promise that I'll get published and that your study will be worth zillions some day, but we can hope!

Meet the lovely young lady, Clara. She works tirelessly at a local used book store called Pecan Books where she has thousands of books stored in her head. Ask her for anything! She'll know if it is currently in Pecan Books' stock and exactly where to find it. She'll probably also give you a good deal if you buy several books. Though most customers believe that nothing could make pretty Clara happier than the smell of vintage books, they couldn't be more wrong. Clara comes home each night to Simon, her pet octopus. Simon is an intelligent creature and certainly worthy of the adoration Clara bestows on him. She paints watercolours of him and hangs them on her walls, as you can see behind her.

I live in a wee tiny apartment, and daydream quite extensively about the pretty little house I shall have one day. It will have a loft, exposed brick, a very friendly dog, and a clawfoot tub.

Still life is something quite new for me. I usually have a creature, a character, or some lovely person in everything I paint. But I adore this chraming tub. It's only missing some fancy bubble bath, a few candles, and a box of wine.

Dolly found this baby bird in her back yard, and brought it inside. The poor little bird was hurt and sad, and dear Dolly nursed it back to health. She gave the little bird so much love that it grew and grew and got bigger and stronger than any other bird has ever been. The little darling, whom Dolly named Miranda, is only a few weeks old. Already they're the toast of the town, getting attention from all the passers by. Miranda is going to grow up to be a very classy bird, indeed.

It's 1933 and Arnold is unimpressed. As a wondrously imaginative child, he came up with dozens of exciting things he could be for Halloween over a month ago. However, when he asked his dear mother to sew him a costume lush with tentacles and extra bulging eyes, she refused and insisted that he wear his older brother's old clown costume. Here he stands, right after letting out a big sigh, for a formal portrait in his costume. However, you don't need to worry about our lovely little Arnold for long. This year he's going to sneak his sister's sewing books away and teach himself so that next Halloween, he can be a terrifying swamp monster.

This is Timothy. I have painted him before, right after he got a lovely job at an ice cream parlour. Since then, thoughts of strawberry ice cream have tickled his whimsical mind so much that his moustache has turned pink! It's also grown quite a lot since then. Oh Timothy! We love you.

Desmond the Owl - Original

Our dear little Desmond here once looked like quite a natural fellow. He is an owl who can attest to the unfortunate long-term effects of certain mind-altering substances. You see, Desmond was trying to make it in a psychedelic pop band called Wax Alpaca and took things a little too far. His songs started to include synthesizer noises that sounded like large mammals passing wind and lyrics about his eyeballs floating in a camel's soup. Here he is, sitting nicely in the rehab tree, contemplating making a comeback album.

Desmond is painted on 6"x8" canvas board, which is flat and fits easily into a frame.

Ellen Mary has marvelous fun whenever she gets to visit her Great Aunt Elga. Elga is an old pack rat with mysterious treasures hidden everywhere. This morning, while tunneling through the wondrously dense clutter in the attic, Ellen Mary found a large box of dusty old clothing. She reached in her hand and pulled out an excitingly fluffy fairy costume. Upon putting it on and shutting her eyes tight, she found that she could fly wherever she wanted. She spent much of the rest of her visit to Aunt Elga traveling to strange places and saving the day with her fairy magic.

Lovely Clara, the astute and cute employee of Pecan Books, loves to spend her springtime weekends wandering pretty places with her beloved pet Simon. Simon's favourite hobby is people watching, so he spends these walks squirming and wiggling about, excited by all the passing people. Simon and Clara are truly a wondrous example of a touching companionship. However, occasionally Clara knits booties for Simon, and he isn't entirely impressed with this sort of activity.

Please ignore the fact that Clara and Simon appear to be quite different from other renderings of them. Simon asked me kindly to be portrayed as a smaller, purpler octopus, and I just can't say no to a precious friend with tentacles.

These darlings are painted on 8"x10" canvas board (flat and hard so it's fantastically easy to fit into a store-bought frame.)
