Wild Mustang - Wood segmentation

$48.00
Wild Mustang – Wood segmentation

Wood: Pine with dyes and paint
Size: Approximately 7 ½” x 7 ¾”

A Wild Mustang designed by Chrestensen Burghout Designs, cut, shaped, and colored by me. When it came to coloring this mustang, I was looking for the “so black it’s almost blue” look that I see in my cat’s fur. This turned out more blue-black than black-blue. There’s a light shimmer in the right light. The mane was dyed with layers of red, yellow, and orange dyes then trimmed with gold acrylic paint.

Each segment of wood was cut using a scroll saw, shaped, and hand sanded. Then came layers of dyes and paint, and finally tung oil. The segments are glued together, then on a backing board. Your Wild Mustang will come with an attached sawtooth hanger making it ready to hang on your wall. .
I have a set sitting on my fireplace mantle. They can be used as a puzzle, but do not let young kids play with them. The pieces are small and can become choking hazards.

I cut them from 2 different solid hardwoods – oak, and an exotic. After cutting and sanding, I’ve soaked them in tung oil to bring out their natural colors.

These are solid wood and tung oil – no other paints or dyes were used.
The 27 segments were cut using my scroll saw, then shaped and hand sanded. The pieces were soaked in tung oil to bring out their colors. Everything was glued together on a backing board.

woods used include oak, maple, leopard wood, satinwood, purpleheart, walnut, aspen, blood wood, and other exotics.
My exotic woods come from the scrap box at an (almost) local flooring store. The wood that is too small for them to use is put in a cut-off box and made available at reduced prices. This keeps their scraps out of the landfill!

Tweedle Dee will come ready to hang on your wall using the attached sawtooth hanger.

Designers don’t always have time to take their patterns and see how they look when cut. So I’ve been working with Chrestensen Burghout Designs and get to cut some of their designs before they are offered to the public! This is one of their designs.
I took a piece of oak lumber, and cut it into segments. The 32 segments were shaped and sanded, then colored using leather dyes. Many layer of dyes were applied, sanding between each layer. Once the color was to my liking, I applied 2 coats of tung oil for protection. Each section was shaped, then hand sanded. I used layers of leather dye and stain to create the rich tones of color. The eyes were painted with acrylic paint. I finished the lion with coats of tung oil to bring out the colors even more.
Christmas Ornament - wood Teddy Bear - Buddy Bear

$18.00
My 9 year old son saw this bear and knew right away what to name him – Buddy! Buddy Bear is his stuffed bear, and he figures he looks just like this ornament only softer.

Bears

Size: Approximately 3 ¼” x 3 ¼
Woods Used: Exotic, Oak, Blood wood

Designed by Kathy Wise, I’ve created this Bear ornament from solid hardwoods. This would be a great ornament for any age – from Baby’s First Christmas to the Young at Heart who still enjoy their teddy bears!

Using the scroll saw, I cut each segment from ½” wood. They are then shaped and sanded. After gluing the segments together, I add the “stitching” with a wood burner. The back is sanded flat (see picture 3 for example). The ornament is finished with a coat of tung oil which brings out the natural colors of the woods. No paints, stains, or dyes were used when making this ornament.

A screw eye was added for you to attach a ribbon, string, or hook to.

Not only do the ornaments look great on the Christmas tree, they make great gift toppers! Add to the top of a box of homemade cookies for teachers, postal workers, or others.

Ornaments will be mailed first class in a bubble envelope. If you would like priority mail service, please convo me for an adjusted invoice.

My exotic wood comes from a custom flooring store. They take all of their scraps and throw them into a bin. I’m able to get these cut-offs and use them in my projects, but don’t always know the species of wood.
