This is a print of my original digital art-work.

I am fascinated by the old fashioned ornithology books. This lead me to placing the birds in the same setting. Ancient Plate version 2009.

There is this little fat magpie in our backyard that I love, he's very scared and clumsy. I tried to photgraph him, but he's an early bird and I am not. He tries to chatter but only a call that sounds like a sneeze comes out. I think he gets discriminated against by the others. He's always alone. Now I know all the stories about magpies being mean birds, but that's just the way they're made. When a pair of blackbirds nested in our backyard I was the first to feed the magpie with bread, hoping it would still his hunger for egg in the morning. BUT, for the magpie there's a place in this bird-world. Also another thing that touches me is the way they build their nests: Large, unorganised and seemingly messy. My ideal place is just the same!

This is a 16 x 16 inch (40x40cm) pillow case featuring my illustration of the Magpien.

The pillow case has a black silk backing. The front has 2 layers of fabric so it doesn't matter what color your pillow insert is, it will not be visible. The back has a blind closure with 2 buttons and a brand label sewn in the blind closure. They are printed on eco friendly fabrics.

Please note that the pillow case comes without the 16 inch/40cm square pillow inserts. That way I can keep the shipping low.

I would like to cuddle him, but I don't think he will survive.

Finally the little owl is done. It is a baby little owl actually. He still has down on his head. but his wings look more and more like the wings of an adult. Little Owls are moody looking little beauties. I think owls are the strangest birds. They look and behave a bit like cats the yellow eyes, the hunt for mice- except the flying part ; ). This one has a lot to learn to become like the wise owl that once assisted the goddess Athene.

In our backyard there was a blue tit, he was browsing through the gardens with a bunch of great tits, always waiting for them to get their share and then helping himself with some food. But since a month or so I am seeing 2 blue tits with the gang of tits. He has found a friend! This morning as I was gazing out of the window of my bedroom to postpone the reality of having to get up, I saw one blue tit checking out the bird house in the garden! Just very very briefly, as if it was a no strings attached meeting with his real estate broker, just a very quick peek inside the house to see if the family would fit. If that is a good or bad thing I don't know. Either he needed to rush to the missus to tell her he found the spot they would grow old together, or he thought" This dump?"...and left it to the spiders. Time will tell, the thing I am happy about is that he is no longer alone.

The story of this little cutie is simple as it is a true to life. We were walking in Central Park and along John Lennon's Strawberry Fields. People were singing, dancing and doing all sorts of things to enjoy a beautiful spring day in New York. This little critter was looking at Lennon's monument, trying to relax a little. But because all his friend-sparrows wanted a place on the fence too, the fence wiggled from front to back all the time. This overworked sparrow couldn't even enjoy a moment for himself, and all the other sparrows ruined his afternoon nap with the sound of a guitar in the background. He insisted on staying put, and had to balance to not topple.

Wear your art! Who wants to limit themselves to home decor when it comes to art? NO ONE that's right. So now you can wear your art, to express that you just think birds are FLY!
2 2/8inch/5.8cm pinback button attached on a 200 grams card to prevent it from getting away. The card tells you a little something about the bird you've chosen.

This is a mysterious New York Starling. He resides in Central Park and was a little too busy for us to photograph him. It took 10 pictures and some patience to get him on film. I think he’s an older gentleman. He looks a bit grumpy but he was just busy and a little disturbed by us tourists walking on the grass, following him.
His taste of costume is a little eighties, with the green, blue and brown, but he does take good care of his feathers. They are very shiny for a man his age!

I will protect the pinpack button to ensure no damage will be done when being shipped.

This is a special visitor to our garden. The Jay That Left The Forest. For some reason, probably food-related, she decided that instead of hopping from tree to tree, collecting nuts and whatnot for her children, she should visit us. We saw her hopping from garden fence to garden fence, showing herself to us and all our neighbours. When we wanted to take a closer look from our kitchen window, she looked back at us from the fence, as if to say: “Follow me!”

Next time when you’re on a camping trip and you’re short of scary stories to tell by the fire, tell your listeners of the Loggerhead Shrike also known as THE BUTCHER BIRD Looking as cute as a button, and even sounding all cutesy, this bird sticks his prey on a thorn and then starts eating it! Talk about a good story to tell at a barbecue. On the other hand, perhaps he is just being civilized; after all, we eat with cutlery too.

Yellow rumped warbler- a tough cookie.
Do not try at home what this birdie can do, eating poisonous berries that is.
He has the stomach for it, and that is quite rare. He is SO not bothered by the poison in bayberries that it allows him to stay a little longer on his home ground before migrating towards Mexico. He seems to have an appetite for spicy food, so the Mexican cuisine will do fine for winter!

All the tourists have gone. Finally time to stand in the wind on the beach. It is HIS beach. No matter what anyone else might think. Well, our beach, because he's not alone. There are hundreds of family members, but they don't come close. He had his seafood dinner taken away from him when he was a chick, but no more! And the others they know it. Always the sweet one. Worked fine with the ladies, but after a while you just get hungry. So now he has his belly filled and that's good because the winter is coming. And he loves that. Standing in the cold wind overlooking the sea with a full stomach. Who needs more?

I am fascinated by the old fashioned ornithology books. This lead me to placing the birds in the same setting. Ancient Plate version 2009.

This bird is like the tabloid star of African birds. It is the most photographed bird of Africa. The lilac Breasted Roller is quite comfortable with all this attention she gets. Everyone visiting Africa will be amazed by the amount of colours her feathers have and the length of her tail. The Dutch word for the family of birds she belongs to is Scharrelaar which also means something like hanging about here and there and not doing all that much. That also fits the description of the most photographed person in the human world these day. I am not saying any names

This booklet is a great help to remeber all the errands you have to run, things you shouldn't forget and ideas you MUST remember. There's room to write and draw in this booklet.

The magpie guards your ideas and notes. I always used to work with a Things to do book, the boring ones everyone has, and I always had ideas on the road when I only had a pen and the book with me. There was never adequate room for it, so I sketched in between the notes, I also used my agenda and then I thought-no more! I need a book in which I place everything I think of during the day. I file my ideas in the blank pages, and I see my notes neatly summed up on the next page. In this book there is room for plenty of notes. You can choose to put one or 2 days on one page. Turn it over and hey, it's a sketchbook!
And after it's full then you have a nice little artwork& personal history book in one. It isn't chaos like it used to be.

This English Robin is a bit of a posh girl. She won't admit it, but she doesn't hang out with anyone outside her approved social circle. Oh of course she's friendly to everyone she meets. But she won't think twice about dating someone she considers even a little beneath her class. But with those legs, fending off suitors is a day time job!

This pendant comes with a matching soft green ribbon. Would make a lovely gift.
The pendant measures 2.8 cm or 1.25 inch in width. I only covered the picture with a thin layer of glaze so the picture is very clear and pops out.

The ribbon I'll add for free. It measures approximately 1 meter or 39 inch. You can wear the pendant with a big bow on your back and have it a little higher around your neck, or with a small bow nicely lower.

You'll receive a certificate with the story of the bird.
This is a mysterious New York Starling. He resides in Central Park and was a little too busy for us to photograph him. It took 10 pictures and some patience to get him on film. I think he’s an older gentleman. He looks a bit grumpy but he was just busy and a little disturbed by us tourists walking on the grass, following him.
His taste of costume is a little eighties, with the green, blue and brown, but he does take good care of his feathers. They are very shiny for a man his age!

My first bird in this style is the black bird. Still with a lovely MirthQuake story explaning the character of this cutie:

Together with my pal the blackbird I am taking a break from illustrating. He just enjoyed the leftovers of my lunch. And now we’re having a moment together. With some friends you don’t have to speak to know exactly what’s on the other one’s mind. Around us a couple of blue tits are making a fuss over nothing, but we don’t care. He’s sitting outside, a few meters away from me. I am inside because I don’t have a coat like he does. With one leg up he stretches his wings and rearranges his feathers telling me it’s time to get back to work. He hops off the fence into the yard and gets to work. He’s right, I finish my tea. We’ll meet again, same time - same place, tomorrow.

This little ADD birdie is such a cutie. He's like a mouse with wings. He wanted insects but he found berries. Any blackbird would be more than pleased but he wanted INSECTS! But fret not, he's ready to hop to the next branch. No one is quicker than he is. If you see him, he's already gone. And you'll think you just saw a mouse with wings. I would like to cuddle him, but I don't think he will survive.

The story of this little cutie is simple as it is a true to life. We were walking in Central Park and along John Lennon's Strawberry Fields. People were singing, dancing and doing all sorts of things to enjoy a beautiful spring day in New York. This little critter was looking at Lennon's monument, trying to relax a little. But because all his friend-sparrows wanted a place on the fence too, the fence wiggled from front to back all the time. This overworked sparrow couldn't even enjoy a moment for himself, and all the other sparrows ruined his afternoon nap with the sound of a guitar in the background. He insisted on staying put, and had to balance to not topple.

All the tourists have gone. Finally time to stand in the wind on the beach. It is HIS beach. No matter what anyone else might think. Well, our beach, because he's not alone. There are hundreds of family members, but they don't come close. He had his seafood dinner taken away from him when he was a chick, but no more! And the others they know it. Always the sweet one. Worked fine with the ladies, but after a while you just get hungry. So now he has his belly filled and that's good because the winter is coming. And he loves that. Standing in the cold wind overlooking the sea with a full stomach. Who needs more?

This is a baby little owl. He still has down on his head. but his wings look more and more like the wings of an adult. Little Owls are moody looking little beauties. This one has a lot to learn to become like the wise owl that once assisted the goddess Athene.

While the squirrels are too busy being cute they forget where they stored their food reserves for winter. But not this clever lass. She knows EXACTLY where she kept the pine seeds. In numerous places in the ground she stored an abundance of goodies. Not only for herself but also for the new trees that will grow out of them. That is how clever this girl is! She takes care of herself this independent bird! Oh and don't forget those squirrels that plunder her supplies, but she doesn't mind. It just proves that she was right- AGAIN!

The Belted Kingfisher.
Of the Belted Kingfishers the female is the trendiest of both sexes. She wears a fashionable belt. Contrary to most species she is the more striking of the two, much like us human beings. She has big hair that she probably blow-dries. How else would it stay in shape like it does? I am pretty jealous of her lifestyle, a house by the water, a frequent vacationer, and do not forget that healthy diet of fresh fish that makes her skin and feathers shine and look gorgeous!

A day in the park won't be as nice as if you don't take this bag with you to keep a snack, a book, and a cardigan.
Although of course, a lot more fits in it.

The bag is made of smooth Bio cotton and has sturdy stitching to keep them vegatables safe. It features my English Robin. width: 39cm/15.25inch height: 42cm/16.5inch

There is this little fat magpie in our backyard that I love, he's very scared and clumsy. I tried to photgraph him, but he's an early bird and I am not. He tries to chatter but only a call that sounds like a sneeze comes out. I think he gets discriminated against by the others. He's always alone. Now I know all the stories about magpies being mean birds, but that's just the way they're made. When a pair of blackbirds nested in our backyard I was the first to feed the magpie with bread, hoping it would still his hunger for egg in the morning. BUT, for the magpie there's a place in this bird-world. Also another thing that touches me is the way they build their nests: Large, unorganised and seemingly messy. My ideal place is just the same!

This little booklet is a great way to relive those wonderful vacation memories. Write down what you've experienced, who you've met, what you learnt and what you've seen.
There isn't only room for writing, but there's also room to paste photos, leaflets of shows or museums you saw, cards of restaurants you've been to or make a drawing or sketch of that funny waiter or cute little house by the sea. The book measures a little over 8"x5" / 20cm*14cm
And there are 40 sheets (100grams) in the booklet(40 sides blank and 40 sides preprinted. The cover is printed on heavy weight paper and features an illustration of my Seagull Standing in the Wind illustration which I made in Normandy. He will take you back to your travels. Pleased and proud this little King Fisher sits on a branch overlooking the water. I think he just ate, because he seems to enjoy a moment. He's listening to the water and to whomever might want to ruin this peacefull moment.
I love to recreate animals and especially birds. No matter where I am, I try to capture their character and lifestyle. When I get home I translate it into art-work.
