When I was creating this necklace I was reminded of a scene from a few winters ago. It was an extremely cold and very clear night. The moon was full, but even in the winter the moon does not seem to bleach out the starlight, that is one of the things I love the most about winter...everything is so crisp! I was standing in my living room looking out the window at the sky, the bottom part of my window was covered in Frost flowers and Ice. The spectral moonlight filtering through the frost was so beautiful that it left me breathless.

Sodalite: this wonderful beep blue stone shot through with white veins is believed to instill a feeling of peace and contentment. It can also expand awareness while meditating. Plus, in my opinion, the deep blue color reminds me of the tranquil sea of the night sky.

As a child I was able to go on a trip to the Great Smokey Mountains. During this trip I came down with a nasty chest cold and it looked like we would have to cut the trip short, while driving slowly home we came across a beautiful towering waterfall. Even though I was sick and fevered I insisted we stop so that I could stand in the water and enjoy its beauty. Standing in the cool mist with my feet in the mountain waters my fever broke and I felt almost completely better. Of course it was the cool water that broke my fever, but in my innocent mind I thought the waterfall was magical and part of me still does.
