Polka Dottie is a 2009 fairy. She's dressed in polka dot silk fabrics and loves the goth look! She comes with a bag of Cajun Fairy Powder and a tag that is signed. Each fairy is 10 inches tall and is a one-of-a-kind!

Look at her photos. She's my Lil Goth Fairy, dressed in her slim looking polka dot attire. The air around Polka Dottie is filled with serious, positive thoughts. She brings pleasure.

The Original Sha Bebe Dolls

The Sha Bebe Dolls were born in 1991.

These are the rag dolls who live in the sugarcane fields of Louisiana. This doll is 18 inches tall and wears a muslin dress and bloomers. She has long hair and the color eyes that you see in the photo.

This IS the doll you are buying.

On her arm is a tag where YOU name your own doll.

Each tag has the KEY seal of approval that is given to each doll by Queen Faustina before they can leave the magical land for the Run-of-the-Quilts that is elaborately performed by Madame Poulette on the last day of each month. You can read about the fairy tales of the She Bebe Dolls in the books I have published about them. The books are listed on Etsy, also.

Each Sha Bebe Doll is signed and dated.
The dolls of Sha Bebe are unique and are here to bring you happiness and joy. This is what they live for.

Throw just a pinch of the fairy powder in special places

I know the magical mixture from other fairies is called fairy DUST. :) -- BUT, down here in Louisiana our fairies call it fairy POWDER. :)

The magical powder begins with flour - the stuff that starts the gumbo, sha. Then other magical stuff is added to the flour mixture. ;) That's the Southern fairies own Cajun secret mix. They won't give it to anyone.

With the fairy powder, you recieve a 4X6 post card showing the front cover of the book which I designed and had published titled, Cajun Fairies. The card is autographed.

There is one heaping teaspoon of the magical mixture in a plastic bag that is enclose on a white 3X4 inch nylon organza tie bag. This mixture is NOT to be consumed.

**Recent review of all the novels Mary Lynn Plaisance**

Plaisance created a kind of Cajun muslin doll she calls Sha Bebe and copyrighted them in the 1990s. Then she wrote a series of books about the dolls- a world she made up just for them. Part folklore and part fiction, the idea of both the dolls and the books is a charming one that is full of distinctly Cajun flavors.

So far there are three books in the series. They read like darling bedtime stories and are clearly meant for younger audiences. Sometimes the details can be a bit off, especially with regard to time, but it could be Plaisance desires that affect since the dolls themselves care little about time in terms of years.

The first book reads as almost one long conversation where the Sha Bebe dolls tell a human about the ways of their land. The following two books actually take you into the Land of Sha Bebe as it is threatened by different evil forces. The second and third books are by far better written and more interesting. The plot moves quickly enough to keep you reading. They make wonderful relaxation reading, if you don’t mind some references to magic. Overall, one gets the feeling these would make entertaining animated movies. Who knows if maybe they will be one day?

The books also feature many photographs of the dolls participating in various activities within their world which help one to visualize the explanations offered in the conversation. The dolls themselves are absolutely adorable.

The real charm of these books is the muslin doll characters and this rare and engaging glimpse into Louisiana’s Cajun culture. There is simply not enough in mainstream literature and culture about this unique and colorful little world in the south. May this be he trickle of water that will become a river of information about Cajun culture!

The Land of Sha Bebe is an enchanted land where rag dolls Jolie and Beau are "born" in the sugarcane fields of Louisiana by Madame Plume.

Through the sugarcane fields of Louisiana we are taken on an enchanting journey into a world of rag dolls living in a magical land!

Jolie and Beau show Emily that our lives are constantly changing and that death is a natural process of life.
Most importantly, they teach her that there is beauty and magic in life if only we believe.

I have 50 prints available as of now.

Each 4x6 print is numbered, dated and signed by Mary Lynn Plaisance. This "run" takes place on Halloween night in the novel.

The print is 4x6 and printed professionally on a high quality photo paper. It has a matte finish, not glossy.

Matte: Often described as a "flat" finish, matte prints resist fingerprints and smudges well, and there is less glare when viewing due to the lack of shiny finish.

The "Run" will become a well known photo in years to come.

The Story about The Run-of-the-Quilts

Madame Poulette makes the magic flying quilts with her magic wand. She's the keeper of the hen house and loves her pet chicken Lucille. She has been a resident of the Land of Sha Bebe since the beginning of time, and the tradition of the "run" is performed by her each month.

On the last day of each month, 100 boy and girl dolls are sent into human land during the "run of the quilts", by Madame Poulette. All of the residents chant, "Run Poulette run", as she touches each quilt with her magic wand,
and they fly UP into the night sky saying goodbye to the Land of Sha Bebe.

THEN, at midnight, the next 100 boy and girl dolls run out of Madame Plume's house
and are ready to enter their sugar shack houses for their month's stay in the land.

It's a VERY festive event.

In the third novel about the adventures of the Sha Bebe,
the land is again threathened. This time for Halloween.

Will the Run-of-the-Quilts go on as it has been done since the beginning of time?

He likes clocks and other assorted stuff.
