Her Black and Silver Heart - dramatic Steampunk necklace by ClockworkZero

$62.00
This elegant and dramatic necklace features an old clock hand with a matte black finish. Its a bold piece - a bit steampunk, a bit neo-Victorian, a bit mechanical gothic too. The clock hand - from a real clock - is sturdy yet has an edgy look. It would be a phenominal addition to a wardrobe for a special night or at an event.

The clock hand is 3 inches long (7.62cm). It has a great design, and the finish won't wear off. I At the top is a nicely detailed charm - a raised heart. The silver metal charm has that rather victorian style in the details. A bit romantic to offset the beautiful clock hand.

I've paired up these silvery droplets with black star gear washers. These are the same kind used in the popular earrings I make. The droplets though are larger then the ones in the earrings.

The chain is a solid heavier chain - not heavy on your neck but heavy/strong gauge. The links are quite round which allows it to sit well. It is about 15 inches long - but there is an extension chain at the back which will allow you to add up to 3 extra inches. Sometimes its nice to adjust these things depending on what you wear. Since I custom make the chains... let me know if you want it a lot longer.

This would make a wonderful New Year's gift or a fantastic Valentines Day present.

Questions? let me know.

Perfect Little Monsters - creative Steampunk Jewelry by ClockworkZero

$54.00
Sometimes I have a lot of fun creating my steampunk jewelry - and "Perfect Little Monsters" is such a piece. Black and silver and hints of golden brass come together in perfect harmony - in fact the name of this piece is quite evident - take a peek at the closeups and you'll see it is already engraved, "PERFECTION".

The large silvery metal base of this watch has some lovely damaskeening - which is an engraved patterning in the metal of the watch - as well as the engraved "perfection", it also is numbered as well. The base is approximately 75+ years old or so - taken from a pocket watch base.

When I created this piece I was imagining the a map of the world shining in the dark wood base. The wooden backing was necessary - to create the "negative" space - where you will be able to see the material behind it. The hole allowed me to introduce several elements like the fine, "gold" hand that is pointing towards the beautiful steel double headed serpent.

The sea-monster is a lovely, lovely vintage brass pressing. I hope you'll have a look at the detail. Its a very small but unusual piece and I've placed it amoung the little brass pieces that were already in the pocket watch base.

Below the golden hand you'll notice one of 2 gears - but this one is tinted using a special process - and is a now a dark purple colour. The other, larger gear, is part of a barrel wheel taken from a men's wrist watch.

This silvery world has several "craters" - some in brass and some silver. You'll also notice on the top that this piece is numbered as well.

The pendent itself is 2 inches exactly round, about 5cm. It is on a simple, nickel-free spiral chain that is approximately 16 inches long - with an extension chain so it can be worn longer.

I have shipped all over the world so if you don't see your country listed, let me know.

The Gargoyle - steampunk jewelry with a fantasy twist by ClockworkZero

$44.00
This was quite a fun piece of steampunk jewellry to create. It is not a large piece but has wonderful detail especially in the winged brass gargoyle. He's an old vintage stamping looks quite antique with the soft edges around his mouth. The curled wings have some wonderful detail - and it is a bit victorian/ art nouveau in style.

He's a light warm brass so I chose a light golden watch face from a mens wrist watch to compliment his colours. The "numbers" on the watch face are almost a perfect match to his tones.

The gargoyle is suspended from a very unusual brass gear taken from a timing device. This sturdy brass gear has wonderful teeth that I have carefully sanded so they won't catch on your clothes. The brass gear has 2 steel sections - one a loop near the bottom and a "hook" shape. The most unusual element though is the 3 "black" steel rivets - which are a black-blue color. To compliment the black studs I've used 2 black star-gear washers (the same kind as I've used in my star-gear earrings) to add some extra detail.

I like the delicate elements of the piece - although it is very sturdy. It certainly has some gothic victorian elements, but it has a whimsical nature that really works well. Two little steel droplet beads have been added to bring some silvery tones to the work.

It is only 5.8cm long from the top of the gear to the tip of the gargoyle's embellishment... about 2.3 inches long and at its widest its only 3cm - just over an inch across.

I've placed this fantastical gargoyle on a simple link chain that has a bit of texture.

The chain is 15.5 inches or so long and has an extension chain so that you can add a bit more length to it if you wish. Since I custom cut my chain if you need it very long... just let me know!
Silver Moon 1884 - sterling compass and amethyst in steampunk jewelry by ClockworkZero

$90.00
I have a very select few pocketwatches that I'm able to date - and this is one of the older pieces made by the Waltham watch company that I've been able to find. There is some beautiful patterning on this piece - a "striped" pattern in the metal that makes it gleam even well over 100 years later.

This watch plate has a serial number - and also says "15 Jewels". One of the original jewels still remains in place - which is likely to be a ruby. The rest of the 15 though have been lost to time. To help bring the jewels back into the piece I've added a simple rose-de-france piece of amethyst. (its a particular shade of amethyst - a bit pale purple with a hint of pink - very fair - but still amethyst!) set into sterling silver. It is a faceted piece and quite lovely. Amethyst of course is a February birthstone - but I've always loved it for the purple colour (or perhaps because it is supposed to prevent drunkeness? ;)

The wonderful Moon shape of the base, the little bits of brass, and the shine made me want to add a small compass. Something to guide the wearer? So dangling in the space there is a sterling silver compass - with a few little gears to add depth and detail. I love adding little finishing touches to such gorgeous pieces like this - but I try and keep it simple.

The chain is a double link spiral chain - nickel free - and about 15.5 inches long. There is an extension chain though so you can make it a few inches longer too.

I know this will be treasured by someone special. If you need it shipped outside of the locations below - do let me know - I can ship worldwide and have sent similar pieces to Japan. (Its a good idea to email me the address in the local language to avoid delays).

its only 4.4cm across - a great size - 1.74 inches. not too small and not too large :D

Silver Black Star Earrings - hardware steampunk and sterling - by ClockworkZero

$30.00
I finally found the time to create some new pieces with these shiny sterling silver discs and some very fun star washers I recently found. The star washers are so very gear shaped with wonderful little teeth. The sterling silver discs are super shiny which just fits so well with matte black.

I imagine these would be a great addition to any steampunk wardrobe, but to be honest, I'd wear them anywhere. They look dressy, perfect for a night out with the girls, but are enough fun that they'll work with anything. Black and silver are so classic - and this mix of hardware and silver just seems right.

These could also be a smashing gift for the right person.

From the top loop to the bottom of the silver-tone droplet they are 3cm long - thats 1.18inches.

You'll notice that I chose a great sterling silver top for these - if you prefer shepard hooks I can always change them. The reason I went with the snap-shut hooks is so that there is less chance of one slipping away. That and I really love the art-deco style top that looks a bit like an arrow.

Questions? Prefer a different shape earring? Let me know - I'll be happy to help.

NOTE:
I will ship these regular postage - vs my normal delivery which includes insurance. If you would like insurance on them - let me know but there would be an additional $4.00 charge. These will still be shipped in a bubble-wrap envelope. Standard delivery to the USA is about 7-10 business days.

Moving Movement Compass with spinning gears - an amazing steampunk necklace by ClockworkZero

$96.00
It is just wonderful to present another beautiful "moving movement" steampunk jewelry necklace. These pocket watches - "finger movements" - are unusual and I dis-assemble them in order to clean out years of dust and corrosion and then every once in a while I will get them to move.

I've posted a YouTube Video over here to demonstrate how smoothly the gears can be made to spin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caMyLX_Hwpg

The "fingers" in this pocket watch are the five long bars - and they still have their original jewels intact. (4 jewels - and the fifth jewel is on the back). These are what held the original gears in place. Alas the 4th little gear was broken and I was unable to find a replacement. Its difficult to do given the age of this watch movement - over 100 years old.

I've placed a "compass" in the piece - non-working but it is a perfect compliment to the gears. The compass even has a tiny gear I've set in the sterling silver -- which is an actual wrist watch gear.

The movement itself is a light brass - very pale but it still shows some signs of age despite my rigorous cleaning. I've set a few little gears in it just to give it a bit more detail but most of it is original.

It is really wonderful to see how these tiny gears interlock and spin each other. I know someone will adore this and marvel at the way the gears turn. It should be kept aside and not left to get too dusty as that will clog the gears as would oils or hair. Still it should spin for many years to come.

It is not a huge piece - 3.5 cm - 1.37 inches across. Unlike some of the pieces I am making it doesn't require a backing. I've placed it on one of my delicate steel spiral link chains - its a double spiral - that is 15.5 inches or so long. There is also an extension chain on it so you can easily wear it a bit longer as well.

It is a truly unique and lovely piece and I hope it will be adored.

Recycled Chainsaw Blade - abstract eco jewelry by ClockworkZero

$54.00
I've got an idea... Lets turn those machines of tree-cutting into jewelry!

I love recycling things... and finding treasures. I was incredible fortunate to find a wonderful woman who could provide me with a few special bits of a dismantled Chainsaw blade. I'm sure there are a very few of us in the world that would get so excited to play with chainsaw pieces - and not only did I get a few recycled parts but I have a fantastic friend too.

The chainsaw blade piece has also been placed on a very interesting "frame" of metal. I've no real idea of what this was used for... but it is sturdy, very solid, and hard. It was fairly scratched up, and was a pain to polish but it really worked well.

It has a great cut out pattern - geometric and abstract - and given the issues I had drilling it - it is steel. Here, I've polished it up to a great steely gleam of silver. The pictures don't really show the shine that well. The chainsaw piece is quite dark while the fram is quite bright steel. I love the look of it - because it has some great "negative space" in the interior of the diamond shape.

Right in the centre is the bigger piece of the chainsaw blade - and it can move smoothly, swinging side to side like a pendullum. It is a dark gray with great rivets.

I've decided to keep this one simple. I had made another similar piece which sold a while back, but this one is a lot simpler and highlights the simple diamond shape. A dark drop bead hangs below.

This would be an elegant necklace for anyone who loves green - very very recycled. And if you are an environmentalist - recycled chainsaw: even better!

The chain is a lovely textured nickel-free chain. Its about 15.5 inches long with an extension chain so you can wear it longer. Including the drop the pendent part of the necklace is 6.5cm - 2.5 inches long. Its about 2inches (5cm) or so wide.

Questions? Let me know.

Golden Eagle Flight - Steampunk jewelry by ClockworkZero

$60.00
Here you can see a stunningly detailed Eagle's head brass stamping that has a rich warm golden color. I believe it is a vintage design but don't have a lot of details about the history. The feathers are beautiful, and I spent a lot of time trying to design something special with this.

I love this piece. I know I'm not supposed to play favorites with my jewelry but sometimes I create something that I especially love. This eagle is one of those pieces - and because the stamping is so rare, it will be impossible to replicate.

The pocket watch base in this piece was just the thing. I was looking for something that could reflect the concept of "stars and stripes". The way this particular base was aged created a delicate patina of dark and light - so there were my stripes! This once was a "finger pocket watch" - and where the fingers were - the brass was not as exposed to the aging - and was a lot brighter. And what better "stars" could there be then the tiny tiny gears taken from old pocket watches and wrist watches. You'll notice there are a few carefully places around. At the top is a larger pocket watch gear where the chain goes through.

The Eagle's head is framed against the natural space in the watch - but I've highlighted it with a brighter, "whiter" mainspring gear. This way, if it is worn agains something dark, the profile of the eagle is well highlighted. Yeah, sometimes I end up using a bit of my art background in these works.

I'm very happy with the warm fall-colours in this piece. Its 4.5 cm across - about 1.8 inches. The Eagle's head is hollow so it isn't as heavy as you might think. I've put it on a delicate link chain that is nickel free - and has a bit of texture. The chain is about 15.5inches long and has an extension chain.

I know someone will love this piece, and hopefully they will wear it with pride. :)

Descent of the Elegant Spider - engraved 1890s - Steampunk necklace

$94.00
This particular stunning example of a New York Standard watch has a serial number that dates it to approx 1895-1898. Over 100 years old it is still in beautiful condition showing the lovely patterning and engraving done on some of the best watches of the period. The photos don't do it that much justice, alas!

This pocket watch piece is almost entirely silver - with just 3 brass inserts where once the gears rested. To compliment them I've added the only other bit of brass on the piece which is a very tiny gear that connects the spider to the work.

The spider is really quite lovely - although I'm deathly afraid of them! It looks almost as if it were designed just for this piece - fitting almost perfectly into the "frame". I chose a spider because of the shining patterning that glows like spider silk. I love adding in elements to my work that gives them a bit of a natural history. A bit of fantasy, a bit of steampunk and certainly original.

Below the spider are 3 little pieces - two metal droplets - and the white pearl set in sterling silver. It gives the entire piece a whole different feel - adding the pearl - which I feel gives makes it feel more delicate. Pearls, beloved of the Victorians, were highly prized in the era when this watch base was created.

Although I can imagine this being worn on a night out - it really could be a very special occasion piece. It would look stunning on white or on a black dress. Perhaps at a steampunk wedding?! :D Wouldn't that be nice! It certainly would fit with the "something old" idea!

Still, whenever it maybe worn it will really be loved. I'm certain that it would be a beautiful gift for someone special.

From top to bottom its 6cm long - about 2.4 or so inches. Its only 4cm across - just over 1.5 inches. I've put it on a nickel-free chain that is about 15.5 inches long but has an extension chain that allows you to add a few more inches so you can wear it longer or shorter as you like!

Any questions? REally hate spiders but love the piece? lol... don't be afraid to contact me here on etsy or at
zero.space [@] gmail.com

Beetle Wing Necklace - beautiful and scary - steampunk style by ClockworkZero

$60.00
This is the 3-beetle wing option of my latest design. This stunning chrome green colour is natural! It is an irridescent green-blue - and I've colour matched the wings in this piece for size and shape. This incredible necklace is made with actual beetle wings - that are naturally a brilliant chrome green colour. They are "green Jewel Beetle" wings - from the family Buprestidae and have been used for hundreds of years as jewelry.

a combination of cyberpunk meets steampunk and goth. I can imagine it as part of an elaborate costume worn by the Queen of the Insects. Or perhaps an avid beetle fan - or an entomologist. I'm certain some might find wearing beetle wings a bit scary but they are so beautiful and truly unusual.

The one element of this necklace that really makes amazing is the clicking sound the wings make as they move. Really! It sounds chitonous.

Personally, this is such a dramatic and stunning piece, I would wear it on special occasions or for a night to the theatre. Can you imagine how it would look against a black dress? A bit gothic, noir and victorian all rolled together into an intricate piece.

I have a more complex 5 wing piece currently available in my shop too. This one has 2 layers of star gear washers - the black ones over silver.

The chain is about 15.5inches long with an extension chain that allows you to wear it longer or shorter! I've matched the chain to the main geary-bronze coloured center piece. It is about the same length as the other necklace - from the top of the round piece to the very tip of the bottom-most wing this is about 6cm (2.4 inches) long.

As with all my pieces I do ship worldwide - and have shipped recently to Japan. Any questions? Don't hesitate to ask! you can email me at: zero.space [@] gmail.com or here on etsy! :D

Computer Chippy - uber Geek Robot brooch - a EPROM pin by ClockworkZero

$56.00
This little robot brooch-pin is one of my favorite designs! It's a bit of steampunk and a bit of cyberpunk but just a great thing for a geek girl(like me!) or geek guy.

So I've taken an EPROM - = Erasable Programmable Read-Only
Memory, is a type of computer memory chip that retains its data when its power supply gets turned off. The little window in the center is fused quartz glass. As the quartz window became expensive to make they started to change the design. The memory could be erased by exposure to UV. These are a great gift for anyone who loves computers!

t's a wonderful piece of history - a great gift for a geek! I work in IT and my fellow geeks loved this! Most of them knew what it was immediately.

I've chosen to make a few into ROBOT pins. The metal prongs normally would point down but some are removed and some are folded overtop.

The little silvery arms move around - as so the legs - so as it is worn it looks like it is moving around - jingling and swaying. The "hands" are made from star lock washers!

The Robot's head is acutally a part of an old watch. This brooch is about 7.5cm long = almost 3 inches by 2cm (across the shoulders) - 0.8inches.

Its not dated but these haven't been in use for about 20 years or so. I suspect it was made around 1984.

These EPROMS were destined to be melted down for their silver when I bumped into the fellow. With the price of silver these days - I was lucky to snap these up from meltdown. Some geek boy or girl will adore this, even better if they recognize this bit of computer history. Alas, EPROMs aren't made anymore - and some of them have a high silver content. They are becoming rare and you won't find them in a few more years. True recycled jewelry is always limited.

Round Abstract in Gears - steampunk jewelry necklace by ClockworkZero

$56.00
This piece took a long time to come together but I'm quite pleased with the result. There are layers
of gears here - and some interesting matching parts taken from mens wrist watches. I suspect it was the
issue of getting the right matching parts that made it take so long.

Sometimes I feel inspired to create some abstract pieces and this is the most recent. Although some pieces
seem to tell a story, I like this one because it looks like a mechanical diagram. The centre hole
will show whatever lays behind it - perhaps some nice velvet or skin? The dark wood allows a sense of
negetive space in the piece so if worn on black the pieces will almost appear to float.

The main component of this in the bottom center has proven difficult to photograph - because it is
an old mother-of-pearl button set into a pocketwatch winding gear - usually it would hold the mainspring
but in this case I replaced that with the button and then added layers of gears held in place with a
clock screw.

Flanking the center are two matching gears - that have an added layer of brass gears on top. One of them
shows a bit of rust that I've cleaned up. It shouldn't rust any more unless you get it wet which I wouldn't
recommend since the base of this is made of wood. I love the combination of wood and metal, and this wooden disc
is a dark warm matte-black, perfect to off-set the piece.

Curving towards the top are the strange and interesting bits taken from different men's wrist watches in a silver colour.
The two star-shaped gears are actually also from a pocket watch - and they are called 2nd wheels - which are made of brass.

Finally, dangling down from the centre is another larger gear with a tiny silver-tone droplet.

It is just under 2inches - 5cm round. Questions? please let me know.
