Slip-resist raku (or "Naked" Raku) is a process whereby a heavy slip (liquid clay) is applied to the pot along with a glaze. After firing the pot at about 1500 degrees for 5-10 minutes, it is moved to a reduction chamber (sealed container lined with strips of newspaper). In places where the slip cracks, carbon is absorbed into the pot leaving the black areas. The white areas are protected by the glaze layer. When the pot is removed from the reduction can, the slip peels away from the pot and you are left with random black and white patterns on the surface.

This bottle is 6 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches at the widest point.
