His plan was to tire me out after 10 hours of hiking with a 40lb backpack and said that by then I would be so dizzy physically and mentally that I would say yes to anything. And I did. Since then we have made it a tradition to have a backpacking trip at Yosemite every year. This collection is 4 of my favorite pictures taken during those trips throughout the years. I hope you find them special too.

STORY:

This abstract photo of these beautiful holiday lights was taken during my travel to Seoul, Korea in the year 2007. These were actually huge decorative lighting installments in front of the hotel entrance. My room was on the 17th floor; when I got out of the elevator and looked down from high above, all I saw was a beautiful pattern. I also added a twist while I took the picture by adding the fun star-burst effect. It wasn't photoshopped in!

ZEN THOUGHTS - one 11 x 14 fine art photography print (The Moment - Hakone, Japan)

STORY:

In this ultra hectic world, everyone could use a moment or two of zen thoughts. I hope these photographs will serve as reminders to help you achieve inner peace. These photographs were taken on a trip to Hong Kong and Japan in 2006. "Watchful Eyes" is a portrait of the world's largest outdoor buddha statue in Po Lin Monastery, Hong Kong. One has to climb several hundred steps to reach the lotus seat of the buddha all the while experiencing his commanding presence. "Wisdom Path" is also located within the grounds of Po Lin Monastery. It is an installation of wooden pillars arranged in a figure of infinity on the hillside; each pillar is carved with buddhist teaching. Both "Japanese Lantern" and "The Moment" were taken at a beautiful hot spring ryokan (traditional Japanese inn). If you have never experienced the natural hotsprings, aka onsen, in Japan, it is something you must do in your next vacation!

This is beautiful Los Cabos, Mexico, which we visited for the first time in 2007. We spent many hours on this secluded beach in front of the hotel property; it was absolute bliss. And we weren't the only ones enjoying the scene either! This seabird seemed just as mesmerized by the magic. I named this particular image 'Soaring' because this image keeps reminding me of a piano piece I used to play, written by Robert Schumann; title of the piece is Aufschwung, which means 'soaring' in German. Today, Shanghai is the largest center of commerce and finance in mainland China, and has been described as the "showpiece" of the world's fastest-growing major economy.

Fast-paced and ever changing as it is, one can still spot pieces of Old Shanghai, reminiscent of movies in the 50's and 60's. This collection is an attempt to showcase the little noticed side of modern Shanghai; each photo is treated with a special editorial effect to enhance the mood. Enjoy!

I visited Venice briefly in 2006 as part of the European tour during the World Cup soccer fever; part of that whirlwind tour was also our honeymoon, which makes it all the more memorable. Touristy as it may be, Venice will never fail to impart a sense of timelessness and romance. The view from the Bridge of Sighs was the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment. The bridge name, given by Lord Byron in the 19th century, comes from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice out the window before being taken down to their cells.* There is something eerily romantic about this scene. I just came back from a 2-week-long cruise vacation that included several locations in Italy and wanted to share my experience with you through this set of photos. My personal favorite from the thousands of pictures I took during this trip is Vatican Spiral. This beautifully designed staircase is awe-inspiring in itself; I introduced just a slight hint of blur to give it a sense of motion. Alleluja is a fine example of being at the right place at the right time. I walked into the Pantheon and this scene immediately caught my eye. Framed Campanile features the bell tower at the famous Piazza del Campo in Siena where palio takes place every year. Lastly, Gladiators' Hangout offers a close-up view of the famous Colosseum. I plan on having a set printed for my own home. Hope you will enjoy them as well!

In this ultra hectic world, everyone could use a moment or two of zen thoughts. I hope these photographs will serve as reminders to help you achieve inner peace. These photographs were taken on a trip to Hong Kong and Japan in 2006. "Watchful Eyes" is a portrait of the world's largest outdoor buddha statue in Po Lin Monastery, Hong Kong. One has to climb several hundred steps to reach the lotus seat of the buddha all the while experiencing his commanding presence. "Wisdom Path" is also located within the grounds of Po Lin Monastery. It is an installation of wooden pillars arranged in a figure of infinity on the hillside; each pillar is carved with buddhist teaching. Both "Japanese Lantern" and "The Moment" were taken at a beautiful hot spring ryokan (traditional Japanese inn). If you have never experienced the natural hotsprings, aka onsen, in Japan, it is something you must do in your next vacation!

Yosemite has a special place in my heart because this is where my husband proposed to me. His plan was to tire me out after 10 hours of hiking with a 40lb backpack and said that by then I would be so dizzy physically and mentally that I would say yes to anything. And I did. Since then we have made it a tradition to have a backpacking trip at Yosemite every year. This collection is 4 of my favorite pictures taken during those trips throughout the years.
