yellow ginkgo leaf box

$65.00
This box is inspired by nature's spirit and mystery, life cycles and seasons, a joyful reverence of and a personal connection to the natural world.
The box was hand built from slabs of clay. It is about 3x3 inches square and about 2 inches high. After the box is bisque fired, it is glazed and raku fired. Then a one of a kind assemblage is added to the unglazed lid of the box. There is a ginkgo leaf, and a row of 5 beach stones from Lake Michigan. One of the stones is wrapped with copper thread, holding 3 pieces of bamboo. There is a smal square of wood in the center of the ginkgo leaf with a beach stone on the top.
Hanging from a beach stone on the lid is a collection of charms.....a rectangle of rainforest jasper, a piece of amber, black bamboo and a pebble of carnelian.

The leaf has been sealed with several coats of acrylic varnish.

We hope this small arrangement of natural treasures delights your visual senses and offers a focus for quiet contemplation.

dove and leaves, 3x3 raku fired art tile

$25.00
A little white dove soars thru blue and green leaves! A messenger between heaven and earth.

This tile is about 3x3 inches, so it will fit into lots of small places in your home.
You can even set it on a plate stand and display it on a shelf.

A perfect gift for any bird lover or collector of original art tiles!

We cut this tile out of a half inch thick slab of clay. After it is dry, it is bisque fired in an electric kiln.

Then the design was hand drawn in wax, hand glazed and fired to 1800 degrees in a raku kiln. The tile is removed from the kiln while it is still glowing hot and placed into a container of sawdust. The hot tile causes the sawdust to ignite. Then the container is covered producing a smoky carbon rich atmosphere which causes the unglazed parts of the clay to darken.

It is ready to hang by a sturdy wire attached to the back. (see the photo of the back of the tile)

We personally design, hand form, glaze and fire each tile.

We share the shipping charges with you and only charge $2.50 to ship this tile.
This tile is about 4x8 inches.

We share the shipping charges with you and only charge $3.00 to ship this tile.

The lid was thrown then hand formed elements were added.

After bisque firing, the body of the jar was glazed with a light purple crackle glaze. The lid and the foot were left unglazed.

The jar is then placed in a specially built kiln and heated until the glaze has melted. Still glowing with intense heat,it is removed from the kiln. This thermal shock causes the glaze to crackle.

Then the jar is placed into a container of sawdust. The sawdust ignites and produces a smoky atmosphere where carbon is absorbed into the unglazed clay and the crackled glaze.

Each piece has its own distinct crackle pattern and is unique in the way the carbon darkens the clay.

*Raku work is not designed to hold water or food.
(see the photo of the back of the tile)

We personally design, hand form, glaze and fire each tile.
Our tiles are widely collected by the art lovers who come to see us at the summer art fairs.

We share the cost of shipping this tile with you , only charging $2.50.
A full moon, colorful stars, and swirls. Magic is in the air!

She will fit in lots of small spaces in your home. This tile is about 4x4 inches.

This moonlit scene would make a perfect gift for any rabbit lover or collector of original art tiles!

We cut this tile out of a half inch thick slab of clay. A vessel you will want to display in your home. A great addition to your own box collection or a gift for a friend who collects boxes.

This piece of art pottery is about 3.5 inches tall and about 3 inches square.

This box was hand built from slabs of clay. The lid was thrown then hand formed elements were added.

After bisque firing, the body of the box was glazed with a deep blue crackle glaze. The lid was left unglazed.

The box is then placed in a specially built kiln and heated until the glaze has melted. Still glowing with intense heat, it is removed from the kiln. This thermal shock causes the glaze to crackle.

Then the box is placed into a container of sawdust. The sawdust ignites and produces a smoky atmosphere where carbon is absorbed into the unglazed clay and the crackled glaze.

Each piece has its own distinct crackle pattern and is unique in the way the carbon darkens the clay.

*Raku work is not designed to hold water or food.
Small feet were added to the bottom. Many of our customers hang these plates on the wall in group arrangements, using several different colors of plates. There is a coated wire hanger on the back. You can also display this plate on a table or even a plate stand on a shelf. There are felt pads on the feet to protect your furniture.

After bisque firing, the plate was glazed with a wonderfully rich, deep blue crackle glaze.
In the center of the plate is a handglazed spiral design.

The plate is then placed in a specially built kiln and heated until the glaze has melted. Still glowing with intense heat,it is removed from the kiln. This thermal shock causes the glaze to crackle.

Then the plate is placed into a container of sawdust. An enchanted forest, perhaps?
This tile is one of our larger tiles, about 6.5x6.5 inches.
A perfect gift for any nature lover or collector of original art tiles!
We cut this tile out of a half inch thick slab of clay. After it is dry, it is bisque fired in an electric kiln.
Then the trees were hand drawn in wax, hand glazed and fired to 1800 degrees in a raku kiln.
We personally design, hand form, glaze and fire each tile.
cat and stars, a 4x8 raku fired art tile

$65.00
You might want to make a place in your home for this enchanting star gazing cat. A full moon, colorful stars, and swirls. Oh, my! Magic is in the air!

This tile is about 4x8 inches.

This star filled scene would make a perfect gift for any cat lover or collector of original art tiles!

We cut this tile out of a half inch thick slab of clay. After it is dry, it is bisque fired in an electric kiln.
Then the original design was hand drawn in wax, hand glazed and fired to 1800 degrees in a raku kiln.

Our tiles are widely collected by the art lovers who come to see us at the summer art fairs.
Turtle tile , a 4x4 raku fired art tile

$35.00
A charming little blue and green turtle swims through swirling waves. This tile is about 4x4 inches.

A perfect gift for any turtle lover or collector of original art tiles!

We cut this tile out of a half inch thick slab of clay. After it is dry, it is bisque fired in an electric kiln.
Then the turtle was hand drawn in wax, hand glazed and fired to 1800 degrees in a raku kiln.

We share the shipping charges with you and only charge $2.50

$95.00
An assemblage of natural found objects for your quiet contemplation and visual enjoyment.
This assemblage features a red maple leaf. Arranged on the leaf are a small glass bottle filled with chips of amber and an ammonite fossil. Ammonites became extinct over 90 million years ago.
There is a charm of carefully chosen objects hanging from a stick at the side of the leaf tile. Some of the objects included: amber, black bamboo, a clay energy spiral, peach aventurine.
This assemblage is approximately 8x8 inches square.
We make these tiles from slabs of clay, glaze them and raku fire them. Then a small arrangement of natural and found objects is created on the tiles. We use pressed leaves, stones, shells sticks and other treasures we have collected. Each assemblage is one of a kind.
The leaf is sealed with several coats of acrylic varnish to protect it.
This tile is ready to hang on your wall.
