Vintage 1950s White Cotton Beaded Butterfly Gloves

Accessory for the Any Season - Cute vintage white cotton wristlet gloves with beautiful hand beaded butterfly decorations.

ERA: 1950s

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS: approximately size 7 (approx. 3.5” across fingers), 7.5” total length from longest middle finger to end. These gloves should fall on or slightly above the wrist bones.

MATERIAL: double woven cotton, seed beads in white (majority) with accents of yellow and green.

LABEL: no label or markings (in the style of "hand-beaded in Hong Kong")

VINTAGE CONDITION: excellent quality materials and workmanship; gloves have no stains, holes, picks and/or repairs. Beading is all intact; however, bead threading on left ring & middle fingertips (2 beads) are slightly loose. One has to be very careful when putting on and taking off gloves as not to pull on beading (especially on the fingertips). Since no label to authenticate material and size, I have used my best judgement and provided measurements.

Vintage 1960s Leopard Print Robe Hostess Gown Vanity Fair

Luxurious robe from renowned USA lingerie brand “Vanity Fair”. During the 1960s, their "leopard print" lingerie line created a sensuality & seductiveness for women’s undergarments and lingerie for the boudoir. During the mid 1960s, I can remember my aunt wearing leopard half slip and bra.

FEATURES: Simple straight lines (slight & gradual tapering out at bottom) that form a minimalistic yet sultry vixen silhouette. Front placard with leopard and ivory vertical stripe, hidden front zipper extends to approx. 22” (56.5 cm) above bottom hem, long sleeves with leopard & ivory trim around cuff, two “invisible” side pockets, and Nehru style neckline.

PERIOD: c. 1960s – early 1970s

SIZE: Size 12- Please check measurements because vintage sizes tend to run smaller than the corresponding sizes of today.

MEASUREMENTS (laying flat):

VINTAGE CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition with no apparent flaws. Colours are still vibrant with little to no fading. Very faint (< 1 cm) yellowed area (from age) on front cream stripe. It is definitely not noticeable to the casual observer only unless scrutinizing! The robe has been gently machine washed on delicate setting with soap flakes and line dried. Washed nicely with little to no wrinkling!

*Handmade choker style necklace features a handcrafted pewter mermaid focal pendant by “Green Girl”. Pendant has been combined with small green agate , cloisonné , and a silver plated ridged bead. Focal pendant has mermaid on one side and a quote on the other side. It hangs from a beaded necklace of matching round green agate & cloisonné beads.
Clasp is an unusual jade toggle. Necklace is versatile: focal pendant can be removed and replaced with another pendant or worn plain. Necklace has been strung on Beadalon 29 strand silver wire.

Two Vintage Christmas Educational Children Music Booklets 1967

TWO VINTAGE BRITISH CHILDREN’S MUSIC BOOKLETS

*Vintage paperback booklets corresponded to a series of broadcasts provided by the British Broadcasting Council (BBC) for the School Broadcasting Council for the United Kingdom.
The first book is from the Autumn series 1967. It focuses on varied traditional & folk music from around the world with instrumental accompaniments, music, lyrics, some background information plus beautiful illustrations. Many of which have Christmas themes & are in wood block engraving design! The cover illustrates the Birth of Christ in the Nativity with Angels & the Three Wisemen.

Vintage 1950s Micro Beaded Large Drawstring Pouch Bag

DATE: c. late 1950s/1960s (could be earlier)

DESIGN: a classic 1950s/60s handbag style reminiscent of Art Deco/Victorian micro beaded or metal mesh drawstring pouch bags. During this time, handbag manufacturers used *retrofitted” plastic micro beadwork to replace the more costly & less practical metal mesh. The newer plastic replacements were sturdier and more durable without losing the original beauty of the older style metal. Drawstring closure at top with wrist straps. Asian Landscape scenes (cranes on water with lotus flowers) are traditional motifs used in the Art Nouveau/Art Deco time period. Their revival was witnessed during the 1950s & 1960s.

MEASUREMENTS (laying flat): approx L x W x W(without handles) 15.5" x 15.5" x 4", handles 7", total length with handles 22.5"- roomy bag!

MATERIALS: plastic micro beadwork on black background, cotton interior lining

VINTAGE CONDITION: excellent vintage condition with no apparent stains, tears or repairs. Minimal bead loss. Some missing beads on straps and top edge (see photo). Drawstrings have some fraying but closes well. Colours remain vibrant.

MODERN WEARABLITY FACTOR: Day or Evening, versatile design and style, Wear with casual daytime or office attire then can mix well with formal daytime or evening events.

Vintage 1950s Hourglass Novelty Charm by Monet

Three dimensional gold tone hourglass charm by famous USA jewelry manufacturer Monet. The hot pink sand is contained in a plastic hourglass and moves when tipped over, counting away the precious seconds of time. Features a spring clasp jump ring that can be added to any link bracelet, necklace and/or key ring.

MATERIALS: clear plastic with golf tone fold over latch finding; gold tone metal with jump ring finding.

MEASUREMENTS: L x W, approx. 4 cm x 1 cm x 1cm including jump ring fastener.

CONDITION: excellent condition with little surface wear/scratching. Gold tone metal plate is fairly bright but still has vintage surface metal patina that can be found only on older items. With close inspection or use of a jeweller’s loop, a small spot where plating has worn away and base metal exposed can be seen on bottom edge.

Vintage 1950s Pair of Mini Heart Charms

DESIGN: Romantic heart charms for jewellery/crafting. One heart is a clear plastic/Lucite reverse carved (carving on opposite or back side then hand painted flower) design and faceted edges, the other, gold tone puffy heart (appears to be solid and not hollow inside because of heavy weight).

MATERIALS: clear plastic with golf tone fold over latch finding; gold tone metal with jump ring finding.

MEASUREMENTS: L x W, plastic = approx. 2 cm x 1 cm (includes finding); puffy heart = 2.5 cm x 1 cm (includes loop at top but not the jump ring).

CONDITION: very good to good condition. Both have wear/scratching on surface as expected with vintage items. Puffy heart has some worn off gold tone on the loop at top (see photos)But metal does not show corrosion.

CONDITION: excellent condition with no missing stones, metal wear/chips and fastener is in proper working order. Some yellowing of rhinestones when observed closely (see close up shots). Rhinestones are glued into the setting,not prong set.

The ECHO Scarfs Company was founded in the 1920’s and quickly gained the reputation for expertise in the print scarf making business. The CLUB 7 Collection was launched in 1986 and focused on department and career-oriented stores. It wholesaled for approximately $4-$25. The name, CLUB 7, connoted the traditional styles of the SEVEN SISTER SCHOOLS (North-eastern female colleges associated with the eight Ivy League men’s colleges.)

Versatile vintage lingerie from Marks & Spencers Department Store that can be worn alone as intended, a slip dress, belted for a cinched waist and/or an undergarment peeking out from a skirt/dress.

St. Michael’s is a brand from Marks & Spencer, a famous British Department Store. "St. Michael" was Marks & Spencer’s' exclusive clothing brand for its classic garments sold in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. It was finally abandoned in the 1980s.

St Michael, dubbed the patron saint of British underwear, was created in the 1920s as a tribute to the firm's founder Michael Marks. Archangel Michael is the guardian of the Jewish people.

Sleeves are slightly longer than ¾ length (not full length). This sweater may have originally been sold as a set or with a suit. But like most articles from this versatile clothing line, mixing and matching is simple.

LABEL: “St. John Knits, Dry Clean Only” (on back)

CONDITION: excellent condition with no stains, holes and/or repairs. Due to the stretchy nature of knitwear, over time its shape may become uneven. In this piece, slight variations in shape are noted: the hemline is longer in front and the pockets are uneven. These would not be noticed by the casual observer but need to make buyer aware. But most knitwear could be reshaped at a reputable dry cleaning service.

Vintage 1970s MOD Purple Pink Paisley Bedspread

MEASUREMENTS: approx. 94” W x 94” L (to the widest part of the curve). This spread fits my UK Queen size bed perfectly. Note that in the USA, UK queen is more like a USA double.

DESIGN: Mod Purple and Pink paisley (abstract floral) design on a white background with white cotton fringe. One side (head board) is straight with no trim. The other side (foot of bed) is curved. The trim is on all sides but the head board side.

MATERIAL: No fabric content label just care label – appears to be cotton and may have some polyester. Unfortunately, I can not guarantee the material content.

CONDITION: excellent condition with no holes and/or repairs. The colours are beautiful and vibrant. I did notice a tiny spot on the white fringe and some faint pink colour bleeding on the white fringe. However these “flaws” are not noticeable to the casual observer and owner may be able to naturally bleach them out. I have gently washed in soap flakes and line dried.

Vintage White Mesh Micro Beaded Bag with Shoulder Strap

DATE: c. late 1950s or 1960s

LABEL: Very faint & difficult to read printed label on interior. Appears to be "LUMURED"(design & materials are very much like this Manufacturer).
"Lumured" of New York manufactured the brands: Cavier Beadette, Corde Bead and Petite Bead

DESIGN: a classic 1950s/60s handbag style reminiscent of Victorian metal mesh bags. During this time, handbag manufacturers used retrofitted plastic micro beadwork to replace the more costly & less practical metal mesh. The newer plastic replacements were sturdier and more durable without losing the original beauty of the older style metal. The casual observer would not realize the mesh was made from plastic, not metal! Latch forms a circle when opened(top opening)and has long straps to wear over shoulder. Interior lining is a creamy white cotton faille fabric.

MEASUREMENTS: 21" approximate total length with shoulder strap (8" without strap), 7" (wide)

MATERIALS: plastic beadwork on top of mesh fabric, creamy white faille cotton interior lining, goldtone metal rivets on frame, shoulder straps match bag.

VINTAGE CONDITION: excellent vintage condition with no apparent stains, tears, missing beads or loose threads. White exterior plastic flat beading and interior lining has very little yellowing from age. Its vintage charm is apparent.

MODERN WEARABLITY FACTOR: Day or Evening, versatile design and style, Wear with casual daytime or office attire then can mix well with formal daytime or evening events.

DATE: c. 1950’s or later (difficult to tell because of excellent condition but very reminiscent of 1950’s designs)

DESIGN: two powder blue souvenir hand towels with embroidery representing native Australian flowers: Flannel Flower & Leschenaultia. Machine stitched embroidery on textured cotton (linen like) fabric.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: the Flannel Flower, belonging to the carrot family, is generally found on the coastal sandstone country of New South Wales and Queensland. Leschenaultia is a small, shrubby or herbaceous plant found mostly in Western Australia. The blue Leschenaultia is the best known variety.

MEASUREMENTS: each approx. 14” L x 12” W

The central tassel features a vintage faceted Lucite heart. The double strands have been made from an eclectic mix of vintage crystals, faux pearls and blue glass beads. The clasp is a decorative sterling silver “S“clasp. A combination of silver-tone and sterling silver head/eye pins were used.

All the necklaces that I make can be worn in a variety of ways with pendant on the side or on the front. Flexibility is essential in my designs. Unique hand made crewel embroidery purse with matching eye glasses case brings back memories from the 1970s “Arts and Crafts” movement that used tons of yarn in many shades of brown.

ERA: c. late 1960s – early 1970s

LABEL: "Specially Hand Made and Designed by Kate Phillips"

MEASUREMENTS: approx. 7” H x 10” L x 3.5” W” without handle; 15" with doubled handle, 19” with single handle; eyeglass case measures approx. 6” x 3.5”, tassel has 2” long strands.

MATERIALS & DESIGN: exterior of bag, dark brown & ecru wool yarn on textured natural burlap; interior is lined with a satiny fabric in mocha; handles are dark brown wool and can be adjusted (shoulder or wrist); brass rings; plastic button clasp; metal zippered envelope pocket on inside; eyeglass case is attached by yarn and has old style beige Velcro closure.

CONDITION: excellent condition with no stains, holes and/or repairs on the exterior fabric; interior fabric has 2 very small ink marks on flap; thread holding the button clasp has darkened with age but could be changed if desired; interior zipper is in proper working order; some "pills" on wool handle that could be trimmed (common on wool when used and considering the age of the handbag).

*Playful vintage Raggedy Ann and Andy micro beaded tote handbag with "LET'S GO TOGETHER" caption. These plastic beaded type bags were popular in the 1950's. Would make a brilliant sewing, knitting or shopping tote!

AGE: c. 1950's or later

DESIGN: Black cotton lining with one interior envelope pocket trimmed in gold, black rectangular plastic handles with gold inset on top and plastic beading. Front and back designs are the same. Micro Beaded bags have tons of transparent plastic beads usually glued onto fabric with a colorful design. This FUN style was very popular in the 1950's to 1970's.

MEASUREMENTS: 10.5" W x 14.5" L (12" without handles)
17cm W x 36cm L (31cm without handles)

COLORS/FEATURES: Primary colors on black background.
This multi*colored design was created with transparent plastic beads placed on patterned fabric with the popular Raggedy Ann & Andy figures.

VINTAGE CONDITION: Excellent to very good vintage condition with no missing beads, repairs, fading or stains. One small tear in interior lining (see photo),colours still vibrant.

Vintage Ivory Crocheted Long Gloves 1940s

Dainty & elegant long creamy white cotton crocheted “lace” gloves with beautiful wide scalloped cuff.

ERA: 1940s

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS: no sizing label - 12” (31 cm) total length from longest middle finger to edge of glove, approx. 2.5” (6.5 cm) across knuckles but will stretch, small hand size, but cotton threads will stretch. These gloves should fall approximately 3” below the elbow.

MATERIAL: cotton thread

LABEL: no label or markings

VINTAGE CONDITION: excellent with no stains, holes, picks and/or repairs. The cotton threads have turned slightly darker from age and have very faint variations in colour. These variations are not noticeable to the casual observer but are expected with vintage/antique clothing. They have been gently hand washed with soap flakes.

One has to be very careful when putting on and taking off gloves as not to pull on beading (especially on the fingertips). Since no label to authenticate material and size, I have used my best judgement and provided measurements.

Adorable framed hand stitched needlepoint alphabet letter “J” with the English fairy tale theme “Jack and The Beanstalk”.

MEASUREMENTS: 5” x 7” frame opening; frame is approximately 6” x 8”

MATERIAL: cotton cross stitching; dark hardwood (like walnut) frame with interior gold border put together with small tacking nails; manila tape backing with old style picture hanging eyelet screws and twine.

CONDITION: excellent with no stains, holes, picks and/or repairs. Colours are still vibrant deep jewelled tones. Frame has a few tiny nicks; paper backing has come unglued at upper right corner.
