EMBOSSED MINT PUPPY Mini Skirt - Small to medium

Vintage polyester fabric is just soooo BAAAD! But in my hands, it gets a cool new life again. Some might call this skirt recycled or upcycled, except the fabric is vintage virgin, NBS -- Never Been Sewed.

The top tier of this flippant miniskirt is a mint and white houndstooth in vintage polyester doubleknit. The bottom bottom ruffle is an embossed "dressy" fabric in a totally matching mint. That these two fabrics were found and matched, when they left the mill more than 20 years apart, is a testament to Polyester Mint! I joined the ruffle j with "zombie" serging, which I have pulled into a flatlock profile, and edged with a white serging border. These vintage polyester doubleknits have some stretch, and tons of texture.

All topped off with a 2-1/2" wide mint-colored waist band of very soft polyester stretch with a tiny pebbly surface.

After I took the first pictures, I added a squash blossom flower of the ruffle fabric, with a black-and-turquoise button center.

I have more of both these fabrics if you'd like another size.

This fabric dates from the middle of the Doubleknit Explosion era, about 1973, when knits copied the complex woven patterns suiting. Someone's granny wore an elastic-waist pantsuit of this fabric to church one Easter, I'm sure!

The dress-form is 25" waist 39" hips (64/99 cm), and the skirt fits a little snugly, but OK

For low waist band it would fit best on hips about 35-37", to be a low rise, and a modest mini.

Button-down Roses Mini Skirt - Small to medium

Vintage polyester fabric is just soooo BAAAD! But in my hands, it gets a cool new life again. Some might call this skirt recycled or upcycled, except the fabric is vintage virgin, NBS -- Never Been Sewed.

Vintage polyester double knit plaid suiting makes up this sexy short mini skirt. Great black & white complex plaid with tiny houndstooth and checks, with accent cross threads of teal and hot pink. On the left side are two tabs with big hot pink buttons, just decorative. This vintage polyester has some stretch, and tons of texture. I double stitched the sides (hips) for durability, and that pesky weight gain!

The sheer stretchy 4.5" ruffle is a printed net, printed with hot pink ink. It's joined to the skirt with hot pink "zombie" serging, which I have pulled into a flatlock profile, and edged with a black & pink sergied border.

All topped off with a 2" wide black waist band of very soft cotton knit.

This cowhide cuff is lined with soft brown felt, closing with a single rust-proof cocoa brown snap. This vintage leather I dug out of my stuffs -- still beautiful, flexible, and really cool. And totally not available around here, in this cattle state, anymore.

Turquoise Paisley embosssed leather! This vintage leather I dug out of my stuffs could have been created this year. I fell in love with it during an earlier Turquoise craze, and I've been holding on to it for 20 years waiting for the perfect project.

And these leather cuffs are just the thing!!. This one is lined with turuoise felt, closing with a single turquoise rust-proof snap. The leather is beautiful and supple -- high quality to start with.

Vintage virgin fabric

This skirt features both revers sides of virgin vintage doubleknit. I think the navy & white checks were the top side, and the zig zags the underside, but they both look right, a fun feature of doubleknit. The electric zig zag pattern of the bottom panel makes my eyes hurt. Super! The two panels are attached, and the hem bordered, in navy contrast serging. There's a fair amount of weight and texture to this fabric, but not as much as some doubleknits.

All topped off with a 2" wide navy waist band of tight stretch lycra. It's the same color as the navy in the skirt, but the camera can't see that! The sides of the skirt are double stitched, the waistband attached with flexible serging.

I'd call this skirt reconstructed or upcycled, except the main fabric is vintage virgin, NBS -- Never Been Sewed.

This fabric dates from the Leisure Suit era , about 1968, when they made polyester doubleknit indestructible, so you could throw that sports coat in the washing machine. Somewhere, I'm sure, there exists a sports coat jacket made from these crazy checks!

Roadrunners? ROADRUNNERS!!! These predatory cuties race around this skirt, creating diagonal columns in black and grayknit. Yeah, I know swallows are the current punk stereotype, but you're different, right? The black and gray ruffle with its tiny stars are what Coyote sees at night, as he tries to avoid the daylight-loving Roadrunner. The 4" see-thru bottom ruffle is attached to the skirt with exposed black and gray serging, as well as edged in the same two-tone serging.

All topped off with a 3" wide black waist band of soft stretchy cotton. The sides of the skirt are double stitched, the waistband attached with flexible serging.

The Fez -- a brimless, cone-shaped, flat-topped hat made of wool felt. The "Shriner's" version of the fez is just one of its forms, in a traditional red. It had different names and shapes in medieval Persia, Egypt and Turkey.

My fezzes are unique and different, since I added ear flaps, kinda like mutton chops (pun intended). Being Norwegian, we have a history of boiling wool, so fulling came naturally to me.

"Olive Terrine": The side panels of this beanie hat -- olive green, raspberry & purple-gray -- give this fez the look of fused edibles, a terrine. The front, back, top, and ear flaps are a tight asparagus green wool felt, joined by bright curly serging of shiny lime green and deep burgundy threads. The ear flaps feature the same burgundy and green contrasting serging threads, outlined in an asymmetric manner, with the lime green inside on one flap, outside on the other.

Yummy! and Perfect for snowboarding, flying down the slopes, ears back!

I serged together "fulled" wool, cut from knitted sweaters, with contrasting and complementary threads. Each of these is unique, one-of-a-kind, since the final wool directed the fez's shape and size. This is my own unique design, from my own imagination, and I've seen nothing else like it.

fits heads medium to large.
(mine is a medium size 7 [22" (56 cm)] around above the ears, and it fits nicely. A larger head would have a nice cozy fit, if you prefer it snugger.

The wool has a natural friction with your hair, so larger hats can still sit comfortably on smaller heads.

Fulling : the process of melding and shrinking an already knitted or woven article. Felt is made from raw wool that has not been woven. I fulled the knits myself, from older sweaters (mostly), in a hot detergent wash, so they are probably almost sterile!

These can be washed, cold & delicate, in Woolite. And be sure to keep the moths away from this pure wool!

And of course my entire home is smoke-free, but I do have one kitty. She doesn't sleep on the hats, but she's been around on the floor while I cut and sew.

Hyasynth -- Vintage Reconstructed Slip Dress dyed by hand - size 8 - 10

I love these vintage, lace-top nylon slips -- the dying brings out hidden details. Lace encased in chiffon, little flocked polka dots -- when I dyed this one a yummy lavender magenta, they really popped out. All the elements of the slip took the dye differently, rendering a delightfully coordinated vision.

These two shades of magenta and lavender mimic hyacinth flowers. To match the magenta dots, I took some hot-pink nylon tricot chiffon, and grayed it down a little for the nylon tricot chiffon tattered flutters. The ruffle is attached with lavender satin ribbon, and the same ribbon dangles at mid bust. The soft fairy tatters in multiple shades are gathered around the bottom. I left the original double lace ruffle, which peeks through the gathered fairy tatters.

This slip is made from thick tricot, so it's pretty opaque -- but it IS a slip!

Cotton Candy Slip Dress -- Vintage Reconstructed dyed by hand small 4 - 6

So romantic, these shades of nylon tricot & chiffon flutters.This vintage, lace-top nylon slip, I dyed a delicious shade of pale pink. I added the nylon chiffon tricot to the dye bath, and in this unusual case, it came out the identical shade.

I took pieces of the fairy tatters, and constructed an asymmetric flower, with a pair of satin ribbon streamers off to the side. It's pinned on, so you can place it where you want, but nestled there on the bust looks so sexy! SInce this slip was see-thru on the top, I added a modesty lining of multiple layed of dyed tricot material. The rest of the slip, though pale, is fairly heavy tricot, so less see-thru than other slips.

The soft fairy tatters in multiple shades are gathered around the scalloped wide lace bottom, which peeks through the gathered fairy tatters. It's the same lace pattern as the top (sometimes these vintage slips use two different laces top & bottom). I left them open at the top, which looks like a shirred border, but is free,

My fezzes are unique and different, since I added ear flaps, kinda like mutton chops (pun intended). Being Norwegian, we have a history of boiling wool, so fulling came naturally to me.

"Journey of the Sun" : Imagine the sun very low on the horizon, peeking through the storm clouds in a Norwegian winter. I saw such scenes many times during my year there. A double thread knit sweater gave up its yoke for these three red diamond suns, two in the front, one in the back on this hat. A little bit of the soft green and red pattern from the original sweater add unusual brightness to this striking beanie cloche.

The side panels of nubby asphalt gray merino wool are continued on the top and in the ear flaps of this hat. Bright red and black contrast serging threads brighten the seams and earflaps, which have red on the outside and black on the inside. Who knew how hard it would be to serge those thick seams on these beanies!

This "fulled" wool, which I cut from knitted sweaters, is serged together with contrasting and complementary threads. Each of these is unique, one-of-a-kind, since the final wool directed the fez's shape and size. This is my own unique design, from my own imagination, and I've seen nothing else like it.

"Argandy": Gray cashmere and burgundy red merino wool with an argyle medallion at the crown give this fez a great hipster feel. The top is from a tightly-fulled sweater. The brim incorporates the ribbed waistband front and back, and a piece of the navy & gray argyle pattern. It is joined by bright curly serging of shiny burgundy and dark red threads.

The crown and ear flaps are from a very soft cashmere. Shiny burgundy and dark red serging threads outline the ear flaps and highlight the flat top. The top curls in & out, in a very unfezlike profile. While the top is thick and straight, the ear flaps are super soft and floppy.

I serged together "fulled" wool, cut from knitted sweaters, with contrasting and complementary threads. Each of these is unique, one-of-a-kind, since the final wool directed the fez's shape and size. I'm quite excited about my design, since the first two I made were bought right off my head!

The Fez -- a brimless, cone-shaped, flat-topped hat made of wool felt. The "Shriner's" version of the fez is just one of its forms, in a traditional red. It had different names and shapes in medieval Persia, Egypt and Turkey.

My fezzes are unique and different, since I added ear flaps, kinda like mutton chops (pun intended). Being Norwegian, we have a history of boiling wool, so fulling came naturally to me.

"Hot Candy": Bright fiery red merino paired with soft candy-striped wool in pink, red & white create the cutest, feminine fez. The back & sides of the hat is from a pink knitted merino sweater (unfortunately fulled with red ones!), while the front is from a soft striped sweater. This fez is just semi- stretchy, since the top felt has the most give. The pieces are joined by bright curly serging of hot pink, red and white threads.

The ear flaps are from the red merino, incorporating the ribbing of the borders, edged one side with hot pink, and the inside red thread. The crown curls in & out, in a very unfezlike profile, outlined by the pink, red and white threads. These ear flaps are so cute and floppy...some one said like little lambs' ears!

I serged together "fulled" wool, cut from knitted sweaters, with contrasting and complementary threads. Each of these is unique, one-of-a-kind, since the final wool directed the fez's shape and size. I'm quite excited about my design, since the first two I made were bought right off my head!

"Pink Void": Deep pink fleck knit and black cashmere wool combine in a solid, feminine fez. Two panels of a tightly-fulled soft men's cashmere sweater frame the temples. Front and back panels are from a Halston vest I'll never wear again, and include the bottom ribbing as the fez brim. Bright contrast curly serging of magenta and black threads join the panels and outline the brim.

The ear flaps are from the pink wool, which has fun flecks of grey and black scattered about, and edged one side magenta and the other side black. The crown is the same black wool as the side panels. The crown curls in & out, in a very unfezlike profile, outlined by the pink and black threads. This fez is pretty solid so that the ear flaps are more like mutton chops than floppy bunny ears.

I serged together "fulled" wool, cut from knitted sweaters, with contrasting and complementary threads. Each of these is unique, one-of-a-kind, since the final wool directed the fez's shape and size. I'm quite excited about my design, since the first two I made were bought right off my head!

"Forest Border": The main part of the beanie hat is the dark fir tree green of the deep woods, and incorporates a snowflake pattern border. Chartreuse wool with tiny flecks of blue and yellow is used for the top and ear flaps. The top of the ear flaps have some of the original ribbing. Lime green and forest green contrasting threads are used for the serging, which also runs down the top front of the beanie hat.

This is best for larger heads, or those with a lot of hair, but this ear flap hat still fits comfortably on my medium head.

My fezzes have a modified design, since I added the very popular ear flaps, kinda like mutton chops (pun intended). Being Norwegian, we have a history of boiling wool, so fulling came naturally to me.

Camel Woods: This one has a tighter top and a looser, curlier bottom. The main part is dark brown, incorporating the double-yarn design band. The front shows the traditional, and the back the inside-out look. Camel-colored wool is used for the top and ear flaps. Copper and deep brown threads are used for the serging.

Because of the tightness where the pattern was, it's best for smaller heads, but this hat will be looser around the forehead than my other fezzes.

"Black Diamonds" : The softest merino wool sweater gave up its argyle for this tall beanie fez. Cream and ark & light gray argyles are in the fron, while the back is plain. Not too plain, because the light grey threads if the sweater give the wool a lot of depth. The top and ear flaps are light gray, heathery, softest cashmere. Contrast silver and black serging seams and edges brighten up the ear flaps and crown.

This one is a little taller, so you can pull it down over your face for more protection against the cold. Or leave it pushed up and tall.

Rab is modelling this one in the desert, earflaps flying in the breeze, but snow will be in the surrounding mountains soon!

The top and ear flaps are of lighter weight navy, a heathery tone. Contrast red & navy serging seams and edges brighten up theear flaps and crown. Who knew how hard it would be to serge those thick seams!

This "fulled" wool, which I cut from knitted sweaters, is serged together with contrasting and complementary threads. My beanie fezzes are unique and different, since I added ear flaps, kinda like mutton chops (pun intended). Being Norwegian, we have a history of boiling wool, so fulling came naturally to me.

Norway Sun: Imagine the sun very low on the horizon, peeking through the storm clouds in a Norwegian winter. I saw such scenes many times during my year there. A double thread knit sweater gave up its yoke for these three red diamond suns. The hat background is a medium gray, with various colors of wool, giving it a complex look. The top and the ear flaps of this beanie are of the softest medium gray cashmere. When you stroke those flaps while you wear this fez, you can feel like an angora bunny! Contrast red serging seams and edges brighten up the whole thing. Who knew how hard it would be to serge those thick seams!

To keep the full diamond pattern, I had to make this for larger heads, so it would be best for someone with a lot of hair -- it's really big, and my head just swims in it.

ELECTRIC BROWN Mini skirt -- Virgin Vintage Granny Polyester -- Small 4-6

This miniskirt of vintage doubleknit is like bit-mapped flame stitch fabric, or maybe the knit patterns you see in those Icelandic sweaters knit from Lopi wool. Or Frankenstein Electricity! Diamonds and zig-zags in black, taupe, brown & sand. I matched the pattern, and it looks like lightning electricity on the sides.

A two-inch-wide sassy lace in ecru edges the flippy bottom. The lace hem is punctuated with a fabric-covered-button with a little lace bow on the left side. The bow and button are removable.

All topped off with a 3" wide waist band of dark brown soft knit with a lot of give.

I designed this skirt to have a dropped waist for a 30-32" waistband, and SHORT !
NOTE -- there is a little glare on the waistband from the flash, not fading.

Vintage polyester fabric is just soooo BAAAD! Just imagine I rescued this fabric from someone's granny's attic...if we had attic here in the desert. Instead, there's a laundry cart of virgin fabric at my local Mormon store. This fabric is vintage virgin, NBS -- Never Been Sewed.

This fabric dates from the Leisure Suit era , about 1969, when they made polyester doubleknit indestructible, so you could throw that Sunday dress in the washing machine. Somewhere, I'm sure, is a sports coat from this fabric!!

This OOAK skirt is virgin vintage doubleknit. Super Textured Double Knit Zig-Zag in shades of blue, gray, and khaki. The bottom ruffle is creamy yellow with gray polka dots. The ruffle is finished with a white and gray serged edge, and attached to the skirt with the same exposed serging. All topped off with a 2-1/2" wide waist band of creamy soft stretchy cotton knit.The sides of the skirt are double stitched, the waistband attached with flexible serging.

1970's prom dress becomes 1870's Steam Punk Zombie Ball Gown after my reconstruction. Since I dyed and crumpled this gown, the Rosy Taupe wrinkles will be permanent...and now it drips elegant ancient atmosphere!

The original lace ruffle became gray, unlike the dusty rose of the dress, and I've gathered the skirt up in permanent ruched ruffle scallops. Well stitched, so they won't fall. The hem has been cut and serged into a series of pointed tatters, with the shiny threads dripping gray. Gray nylon chiffon tricot tatters hang from within the right front scallop.

The back is similar to the front, with the bustle like gathers longer in the back. It zips up the back in a peach zipper that didn't take the dye at all.

The little cap sleeves of lace are accentuated on the left side by grat zombie tatters and a patchwork gauntlet. Scraps of the dress fabric are joined with shiny dove gray embroidery thread. all the tatter holes are and threads are left hanging, like drippy stuff.

One elegant zombie gauntlet glove is designed for the left arm. It fits my 6.25" wrist bone and skinny arms -- any bigger bones than 6-1/2" (15.5 cm) won't go through the opening. It's stitched together with pieces from the tattered skirt. It extends above the elbow, with an opening at the top and attaches to the dress with one of the tricot tatters.

Her best friend's wedding was last night...and she disappeared after. I found her dress.

She wears bloody holey gauntlets - one has nylon chiffon tricot peeking out from under like elegant blood. These sleeve gauntlets are serged with red.

This stretchy black bridesmaid's gown has been slashed and tattered and mended with bloody red thread. The wide square neckline has a slashed and serged hole, which has been stitched back up with more red zombie hand stitching. The short cap sleeves are red-serge-tattered, with extra bloody tricot on one.

Black satin tatters with red zombie edges, stretch tatters, and variable chiffon tatters hang asymmetrically along and throughout the dress. satin tatters, and long red pointy tatters hang diagonally across the front and back of the gown -- some short, some long, some edged in red. The entire skirt is destroyed, and the tatters of the dress extend up to mid thigh to reveal various bits of pale leg underneath -- sexy zombie.

Her Noir hat is not included, and the seller's not on Etsy yet!

And of course, the red is UV BLACKLIGHT reactive. Oh -- and this dress has a black satin tie back, for added tight fit.

The Prom was 25 years ago...and she disappeared that night. I found her dress....somewhere.

I've hesitated at listing this dress because the lace is yellowing over time. It has been cleaned -- it still has the dry-cleaning tag. But several areas of the lace are yellowing. Maybe it's from the dry-cleaning solution, maybe it's intrinsic to the age of the lace. Or maybe it's something this high school miss ran into after her prom -- maybe she spilled the Devil's Brew, or voodoo water was tossed on her by The Evil One! And they're on the back, so you never have to see them!

This white satin Prom gown has been slashed and tattered and frayed. The lace cover has been mended with black Zombie serging. The wide deep V neckline has a long diagonal slash of long black tatters of tricot streaming down from the center. More white tricot tatters, as well as more black ones, flow diagonally from more serging below the waist front and back. More black tatters cross the zipper in the back (where the first yellowing appeared), and are held in place by a sash of tulle that crosses the shoulder and ties in a bow near the waist. The remains of her Queen of the Prom sash???

The huge puff sleeves -- all three layers of satin, net, and rayon lining, have long black serge thread tatter points twining down the edges of the butchered sleeves. They have elastic gathers at the shoulder -- which you can let fall off your shoulders, since the dress is boned, and will stand on its own.

The skirt is quite gathered, and is a curved over-wrap. which crosses in the front, but could blow open completely in a blast of a dervish wind.

Black tricot tatters, white tatters, hang diagonally across the front and back of the gown -- some short, some long. All the tatters on this PROM ZOMBIE DRESS are asymmetric and different lengths. I've left all the serging threads long to add to the tattered look.

This Black-and-White satin bridesmaid's gown has been dyed silver -- the dusty shade of mouldering caskets contents I've slashed it in the bodice front and back, serged the slashing, and closed it with thick hand stitched zombie threads. One of the puff sleeves is slashed with two crossing patches, and the other I just left plain.

It's an empire waist, with satin ties, so you can cinch up under your voluptuous bosom as much as necessary. It zips up the back.

Diagonal serging in silver and black all over, with tatters . Some are long & squared, others edge-serged in the same gray and black -- pointed tatters to match the totally tattered hem of this dress. I've left all the serging threads long to add to the tattered look. The serged satin tatters of the dress bottom reveal various bits of pale leg underneath -- sexy zombie!

Burgundy 'Burbs Mini Skirt - Small to Med

Vintage polyester fabric is just soooo BAAAD! But in my hands, it gets a cool new life again. This skirt is a straight up recycled pair of granny elastic-waist poly pants. I added a wide ruffle of maroon lace. It's so sexy, the legs peeking through!

I edged the wine-red lace in gray thread serging -- the same color I used to serge it to the skirt. The contrast of the colors just doesn't photograph properly, sorry. The waistband has a wide internal elastic.

The fabric is one of those improbable polyester plaid doubleknits -- burgundy and white, but giving the appearance of burgundy and gray. The skirt is sightly asymmetric -- longer on the right than the left. The plaid doesn't match at the waistband, and in order for the lace to follow the pattern evenly, it's on inch longer on one side. Worked out really cute that way, surprisingly!

BLUE TIGER SKIN of DOTS Mini Skirt - XXL or 1X Plus or 2X

Vintage polyester fabric is just soooo BAAAD! But in my hands, it gets a cool new life again. Some might call this skirt recycled or upcycled, except the fabric is vintage virgin, NBS -- Never Been Sewed.

The top tier of this miniskirt is a ripping textured design in polyester doubleknit. The design is a basket weave lattice of long rectangles with blue & white tiger stripes in them, separated by squares and lines where both threads mix equally. AMAZING DOUBLEKNIT! The outside is blue and white, and the inside just chalky blue.

The bottom ruffle is bright blue nylon taffeta with white polka dots, embossed in some unknown material. It's joined to the skirt with lace that has a matching blue ribbon running through it. The ruffle is finished with a white serged edge.

All topped off with a 2-1/4" wide blue waist band of very soft cotton rib knit. I inserted a 2" elastic band inside, to help stabilize this larger waist. The sides are double-stiched for strength, also. These vintage polyester doubleknits have some stretch, and tons of texture.

I have more of both these fabrics -- e-mail me if you'd like another size.

This fabric dates from the middle of the Doubleknit Explosion era, about 1973, when knits copied the complex woven patterns of suiting. Someone's granny wore an elastic-waist pantsuit of this fabric to church one Easter, I'm sure!

The dress-form is 25" waist 39" hips (64/99 cm), so the skirt is clipped in the back for the photos.

CURLY FLAP FEZ - Raspberry Loaf - Medium-Large

The Fez -- a brimless, cone-shaped, flat-topped hat made of felt. It had different names and shapes in medieval Persia, Egypt and Turkey. The "Shriner's" version of the fez is just one of its varied forms, in the traditional red that became popular sometime in the past.

My fezzes have a modified design, since I added the very popular ear flaps, kinda like mutton chops (pun intended). Being Norwegian, we have a history of boiling wool, so fulling came naturally to me.

Raspberry Loaf: Olive green, raspberry & purple-gray give this fez the look of fused edibles. The front part is two halves of stripes, joined by bright curly serging of shiny lime green and deep burgundy threads. The back is a solid piece of complex purplish gray with lots of little variegated wisps in it. The ear flaps feature the same yellow-green wool that is used for the top. Burgundy and green contrasting serging threads outline the ear flaps and highlight the flat top. The top curls out wider, in a very unfezlike profile.

I serged together "fulled" wool, cut from knitted sweaters, with contrasting and complementary threads. Each of these is unique, one-of-a-kind, since the final wool directed the fezz's shape and size. I'm quite excited about my design, since the first two I made were bought right off my head!

Amazingly, men love them, and I've sold most at fairs. The guys gravitate to them, and choose the brightest among them! Some say they want it for snowboarding, others just that they are sooo rad. Totally surprised me!

(mine is a medium size 7 [22" (56 cm)] around above the ears, and it fits loosely.

The wool has a natural friction with your hair, so larger hats can still sit comfortably on smaller heads.

Fulling : the process of melding and shrinking an already knitted or woven article. Felt is made from raw wool that has not been woven. I fulled the knits myself, from older sweaters (mostly), in a hot detergent wash, so they are probably almost sterile!

Buy a larger size if you want to pull it down over your ears. You can wear them in a variety of ways -- I like adding a pin and making it kinda like a cap.

She jumped in the lake at Summer Camp, pining away for the love of Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing, and just now floated up, and sold me her dress for air fare to L.A...

OK, OK...Another reconstruction I started 3 or 4 years ago...I have no idea why I didn't like it at the time...because...

This reconstructed 80's prom dress is pale eeriness! I wadded it up and stuck it in a box...and now the wrinkles just add to the atmosphere! It is a shirred-to-the-bone ruched dropped-waist strapless gown in a pale icy mint fabric with a subtle pale white flower overprint. Since I washed and crumpled this gown, you can barely see the white print any more.

The boned bodice and back are ruched dramatically, so I serged many many riblets in the front in black thread. I tucked the thread inside at the midline, but let it hang at the outside, like black blood dripping from many, many cuts. The long skirt is serged in multiple fairy zombie tatters, threads dripping from the tips. More serged tatters are spaced about, sereged to the attached net under petticoat. At first I was planning to tatter the net, but I really like the contrast of the straight line with legs peeking through. With the straight line, it's somehow sexier. The dress has a big girlie bow in the front -- just like the "Dirty Dancing" dresses at the end...and I serged its edges too.

Then, as a final wave to femininity, I'm including some dangly black rose corsage at the bust top -- you can leave it pinned there, or somewhere else. When I photoed this dress with my model, we were in such a hurry I didn't notice wasn't pinned securely.

Whether you call yourself Lolita, Goth Girl, Dolly, EGL, or just plain alt indie, this elegant, OOAK, reconstructed dress is a piece of DIY trashion fashion that would be perfect for that undead party or Zombie Prom!

ROADRUNNER PUNK Skirt with Argyle Ruffle
---- I have just enough of the argyle ruffle to make one more skirt, any size --

Roadrunners? ROADRUNNERS!!! These predatory cuties race around this skirt, creating diagonal columns in black and grayknit. Yeah, I know swallows are the current punk stereotype, but you're different, right? You can see their secret longing to SCREAM -- especially above that argyle ruffle in black, gray and tan! The 6" bottom ruffle is attached to the skirt with exposed black serging, as well as edged in the same black serging.

All topped off with a 2-1/2 wide black waist band of soft stretchy cotton. The sides of the skirt are double stitched, the waistband attached with flexible serging.

I'd call this skirt reconstructed or upcycled, except the main fabric is vintage virgin, NBS -- Never Been Sewed.

Vintage acrylicr fabric is just soooo BAAAD! I rescued this virgin fabric from my secret source, where they have some of the most gawd-awful fabrics, 30-40 years old, waiting for me to find and fall in love with. This skirt fabric dates from the 1970s sometime, when they made some knits in what I maintain was an LSD haze!

This black vintage empire slip started out oh, so plain. As if Big girls don't get to make a statement! Well, now with 2 linds of lace ruffles, and hot pink serging, you will be noticed in a hot sexy way! I shortened this into a flirty above- knee mini dress with two rows of serging. But that was after I criss-crossed the front and back with more decorative serging, and added serging to the sides and to define the bust.

Under the original plain empire top bust I added hot pink scallopd gathered lace, which I angled down the back to cross just above the butt. The same ruffled pink lace encircles the bottom above come more curlicue lace netting that I have edged in hot pink and black serging. Below both those flirty ruffles, you can see peeking out a sheer lace line and lace hem from the original slip.

This black slip is a little more lightweight than some other black slips, so it's not completely opaque, but close to it.

Whether you call yourself EGL, Lolita, or loligoth, this OOAK, reconstructed slip dress would look great on you!

AQUA FLOWER POWER A-line mini Skirt - Small

Vintage polyester fabric is starting to look really good again! This print is quintessential 1960's flowers, with the popular poppy. Big flowers in bold yellow with a hint of chartreuse, dark orange, indigo & white, all outlined in black, on a bright turquoise background. This fabric dates from the era, about 1970, when they tried to make the polyester knit look more like woven fabric, so they added texture to the surface to obscure the knit design. Because of the age, there are some variegated color differences -- blues are just very fragile.

It has a flirty black bottom ruffle of pencil accordion crinkle. It's joined to the skirt with exposed flatlock serging, with a narrow black serged edge. Since this is all the crinkle fabric I have, until I find more, this skirt is a one-of-a-kind creation

The black waist band ( 2.5 inches) is a soft cotton knit.

This skirt hits above knee, with a sexy bottom ruffle. It's a SPRING POWER POP!

CHEERLEADER GEEK Skirt - Small to XXL custom constructed

Brainless Cheerleaders? Drum major Heads? I'm not sure what the characters on this awesome gray & black fabric are trying to say, but it's clear the cheerleaders have no brains! It looks so ASCII-like or early bit-mapped in design, that it kinda reminds me of the old arcade game Space Invaders. All in a vintage acrylicr doubleknit with a lot of stretch. The black lace ruffle is modern polyester, lacy sheer with diamond net, a rolled-hem edge, and joined to the skirt with exposed serging in gray and black.

All topped off with a 2" wide black waist band of very soft cottony stretch.

Vintage polyester fabric (or acrylic, in this case) is just soooo BAAAD! But in my hands, it gets a cool new life again. I'd call this skirt reconstructed or upcycled, except the fabric is vintage virgin, NBS -- Never Been Sewed. The exact date of this fabric eludes me, but it's at least 30 years old!

It's a CHEERLEADER NOBRAINER! The perfect handmade DIY nerd skirt for that retro kitsch girl!

Poly Prairie Skirt - Creamy geometrics with ecru lace ruffle --
Extra Large to 1X plus.

Vintage polyester fabric is just soooo BAAAD! Just imagine I rescued this fabric from someone's granny's attic...if we had attic here in the desert. Instead, there's a laundry cart of virgin fabric at my local Mormon store. It looks reconstructed, but this skirt is all vintage virgin, NBS -- Never Been Sewed.

This OOAK skirt is virgin vintage doubleknit. Super Textured Double Knit in shades of "flesh"(old school crayon), cream, and a pinkish lavender. This pattern reminds me of farms, with the diamonds and rectangles and rows of crops. With the bottom ruffle of creamy floral lace and its satin band of lavender, you have the perfect polyester prairie! All topped off with a 3" wide waist band of creamy soft stretchy cotton knit.

I made this skirt longer for you women with a generous oomph, to gracefully cover it and still look charming!

This fabric dates from the Leisure Suit era , about 1968, when they made polyester doubleknit indestructible, so you could throw that sports coat in the washing machine. Somewhere, I'm sure, there exists a sports coat jacket made from these crazy diamonds!

PINK and GREEN PLAID Mini Skirt - Vintage Seersucker and Tricot - S to M

PINK and GREEN PLAID Mini Skirt - Small to medium

This was a ugly, ugly vintage seersucker! But in my hands, it got a cool new life again. Some might call this skirt recycled or upcycled, except the fabrics are vintage virgin, NBS -- Never Been Sewed.

The top tier of this outrageous miniskirt is loud plaid vintage seersucker - pink, green white and dark red. WOW! I took nylon ruffle for the ruffle -- you know, the stuff your granny's sexy babydoll nighties were made from -- and gathered it into a very full ruffle. Despite all those ruffles, it's still sheer.

I joined the ruffle to the plaid with "zombie" serging, which I have pulled into a flatlock profile, and edged with a white serging border. I cut the fabric on the bias(diagonal), so it has a little give. All topped off with a 2-1/2" wide hot pink waist band soft cotton with a tight stretch. Tons of texture in this eye-popping skirt!

I have more of both these fabrics if you'd like another size.

Seersucker has been around a long time - used in the south and the tropics where there was no air conditioning, to keep it looking fresh in all the muggy humidity. And nylon tricot -- its heyday was during the peignoir days of the 50's and 60's.

For low waist band it would fit best on hips about 35-37", to be a low rise.

Peek-boo-Pink & Pouf - Vintage reconstructed Slip Dress

Hot Pink lining under black see-through lace top. So you see every detail of the original lace, including it's sweet little black bow. I shortened this vintage, black, slip into a flirty above- knee mini dress. I sewed in a lining from hot pink stretch nylon, which extends loosely to the waistline like a modesty panel.

Serging threads in hot pink magenta and black curve under the bust and around the back waist. They also criss-cross the sides in X's , both front and back, as well as under the arms, since those vintage slips are sometimes a bit gappy there. This one's not, since I took it up there with the serging.

The ruffle is a flouncy, flirty satin with flocked black flowers on hot pink, underneath is the original lace hem from the slip. And I added a big bow of the pink & black flowers, with the edges serged in black, to the mid back. But since it's pinned, you can take it off and put it anywhere you want.

And It's quite stretchy, of course, should you like it tight!

Whether you call yourself Faerie, EGL, Lolita, or loligoth, this OOAK, reconstructed slip dress would look great on you!

So romantic, these three shades of nylon tricot & chiffon flutters.This vintage, lace-top nylon slip, I dyed a delicious shade of pink peach. All the elements of the slip took the dye differently, rendering a delightfully coordinated vision. The two different nylon chiffons all went in a similar dye bath, but I scrunched up the ciffon tricot, so it has a variegated tone-on-tone look in the flutters.

This slip has see-thru lace on the top, but there's a modesty lining of the same slip material in the accordian-pleat bodice, and paneling down the front. The lace insets fall about waist level, so they are sexy, yet not revealing.

The soft fairy tatters in multiple shades are gathered around the bottom. I left the original accordian-lace ruffle, which peeks through the gathered fairy tatters.

There's an added tricot scarf - shown around the neck, but you could add it to the straps, your wrist, or whatever you please.

Vintage polyester fabric is just soooo BAAAD! But in my hands, it gets a cool new life again. Some might call this skirt recycled or upcycled, except the fabric is vintage virgin, NBS -- Never Been Sewed.

A cool black & white plaid with tiny houndstooth, stripes and checks, with accent cross threads of teal and hot pink -- that's this vintage polyester double knit plaid suiting. Yup, I betcha they made a leisure suit from this! This mini skirt falls just above the top of the knee.

I matched the plaids, and double stitched the sides (hips) for durability (and that pesky weight gain!) This vintage polyester has some stretch, and tons of texture.

The pink satin with black polka dots & shiny reflective dots creates a sparkly flirty 3" ruffle. It's joined to the skirt with black "zombie" serging, which I have pulled into a flatlock profile, and edged with a black sergied border.

All topped off with a 2-1/2" wide black waist band of very soft cotton knit.
