$10.00
This is a beautiful old door knob. No other hardware is included. Very intricate design on front and back. Comes from my "one day I'm gonna" pile. I hope you can find an awesome use for it. It just needs a gentle cleaning. The white specks are some sort of residue, not a dent.

I've had it around for many years, glancing at it from time to time and wondering what it might morph into.
I love this all white Santa. No sewing involved here, just needle felting. It is 100% wool (mine) with a mohair beard and vintage buckle. Lightly dusted in mica flakes.

I love the silver running through the deep brown.
Fresh from shearing Oct. 7. These fleeces are lamb fleeces and have been on pasture since birth. There's little to no VM.
I used a new 100% Romney ram last year and I am loving the Shetland/Romney cross! Soft and luscious! I wish I could keep them all, but there's hay to buy for winter feeding.

It came from a light tan, wether. (That is a castrated male for those of you who might not know.) He is so light that this roving turned out almost cream colored. The interesting thing is that it has flecks of brown wool throughout. It is very difficult to describe and hopefully you can see them in the photos.
I am not sure I would call this a dual coat, but the brown is definitely a different micron or texture than the cream. I love this roving!

If you have purchased from me before, I should let you know my milling costs have gone up, so I have had to raise my prices as well. This roving will be slightly higher due to the rarity of it.
I can do larger amounts, just convo me and I'll do a special order!

I discovered needle felting about 6 years ago. At that time I had been raising sheep for 7 years and selling the fleece to hand spinners. After discovering needle felting, it was as if it had all come full-circle. I had finally discovered something I truly loved doing utilizing my own wool. These little chickadees have become my trademark of sorts, since I am able to utilize all of the colors of my sheep in one bird.
There are many legends of the chickadee among Native Americans. I urge you to read more about them.

12 Skeins Twisted Fiber CSA Shetland Romney Yarn CSA Community Supported Agriculture 2010 Shearing

$150.00
I am very pleased and excited to offer you a membership in my 2010 CSA. My '09 CSA was successful and my customers were very pleased with the resulting yarn. I am tickled with the outcome of the yarn and the whole CSA in general.
Below is the information on my CSA. Please do not hesitate to ask questions!

This purchase entitles you to one share of Serenity Sheep Farm's 2010 shearing. Your share will include a variety of natural colored wool yarn in whites, browns, blacks and possibly tans. Based on my first CSA, I anticipate that one share will include about a dozen 3.8 oz. sport weight (300 yd/100g) skeins, depending on the yield. Other weights are available. With my first CSA I let the majority decide. They decided on sock weight, but please be certain that I will do my best to give you the most for your money, no matter which yarn weight you choose. The amount of yarn you receive depends on the total weight of the fleeces used. Shearing is generally done around the middle of March.

Please know that by purchasing a membership in this CSA, you are contributing to all the expenses related to the entire farming operation, much the same way a traditional CSA buys seeds and implements to run theirs. Shearing alone can be a big expense, feed in the winter is another.
We raise Shetland and Shetland Romney X sheep here on 40 acres of the original 160 acre homestead. The land has been in the family since the early 1900's. By purchasing a share in the CSA, you are helping to insure the land stays a working farm and remains in the family, not sold off and subdivided like so many around us. Times are changing and so are the ways of making farming work. This is our second offering of a fiber CSA.
We are proud to be using a lot of the same techniques that my husband's grandfather used, although we do farm with a tractor and not horses.

You may have noticed the shine in the skeins above. That's not camera magic, it REALLY DOES SHINE! This is some of the softest wool you'll ever put next to your skin, perfect for socks, scarves and sweaters. I believe the Shetland crossed with the Romney is the reason for the luster. Becky at the mill thinks so too.
I would love to send you a small sample of my yarn. I also have full skeins for sale, fresh from the mill! We only use http://lambandwool.com/. The mill is just 7 miles from my home and that saves a tremendous amount on shipping costs and in turn fossil fuels. Becky uses a solar system on her 100 + year old barn to heat the water for washing the wool. We are proud to support a local business like hers.

If you are a hand spinner and prefer raw fleece or roving instead of yarn, just make a note of that and we can make provisions. You will be shipped a total of 10 lbs (or the closest equivalent) of raw, whole fleece. *Shipping will be more for raw wool.* I am happy to calculate roving for you as well. I've not had a request for roving yet and haven't crunched the numbers on weights.
If I should receive more requests for raw fleece than yarn, I will close the memberships at that time in order to insure you your wool.

We must add a disclaimer that there may be unforeseen circumstances that are beyond our control. We cannot be responsible for natural disasters or nature in general. But there's not much chance of tornadoes here. :-)
Farming is a gamble, come gamble with us!

You will receive email updates on the progress of things around the farm and check in on the blog at any time to see what's happening.

You can read more about the life and times of Serenity Sheep Farm at http://www.homesteadblogger.com/serenitysheepfarm

Please check out my feedback from previous wool buyers.

Please note that all of our animals have the best treatment here at Serenity Sheep Farm. All are grown in a sustainable manner with the best interest of the animal and the land coming first. Although not certified organic, we do everything we can to raise all animals here by organic standards, consequently we have very happy animals! Just look at those sweet faces!

We encourage visitors to the farm to see how we do things here and view the animals for themselves. If you care to stay overnight, we have an antique sheep wagon available for that.
http://www.serenitysheepfarmstay.com
CSA members receive a 20% discount to the farmstay.
Please join us in being a part of Serenity Sheep Farm!
