I painted this scarf in a deep shade of red and yellow. I used leaves from my Popcorn tree or Cottonwood, and stamped them in metallic shades of red, green, and yellow. The leaves are floating down through the yellow and landing in the red. If you have ever seen a Popcorn tree in the fall, it is a thing of beauty! Once the leaves start to fall, the ground beneath it looks like a carpet of reds, yellows, oranges, and greens.

This unique process can never be duplicated since the leaves used on each silk are discarded after printing. I search my yard for the prettiest leaves to make a scarf as unique as nature. I love using real leaves as stamps. After all, what's more beautiful than nature itself? Own a one of a kind accessory that is truly yours!

Ever heard of something having a mind of its own? Well, this scarf did! I'm very glad because it turned out more beautiful than I had even envisioned! I started with a deep brown and rich turquoise and let them "travel" into each other on the silk. As the colors traveled the brown developed lights and darks and a texture that reminded me,with a stretch of the imagination, of bark. I intended to stop there but the scarf said, "MORE". I painted some branches that had already lost their leaves, and the scarf said, "enough". This is truly a one of a kind beauty!

This will dress up a table or mantle throughout the Fall season. Imagine it as the backdrop for your Halloween or Thanksgiving decorations - a pumpkin, gourds, or flowers - some bronze mums would be gorgeous.

I have made it in acetate rayon velvet that I heat embossed with maple and oak leaf stamps. I embellished each end with a coordinating tassel trim and finished the sides with an edging. The embossed leaves are permanent. The velvet is a beautiful deep apricot, while the leaves look like bright shiny copper. The tassel fringe is a perfect match for the velvet in deep apricot, camel, beige and mossy green. The photograph appears teal and pink which I assure you it is not!

It is difficult to photograph velvet because of the way the light reflects on it. The second and fourth pictures seem to be the truest color - on my monitor.

It measures 58" x 11 3/4".

It is not a scarf...yet - the wheels in my brain are turning. How rich and soft and warm and elegant would that be? Maybe with some silk ribbons on the ends? Oh well, for now I guess this will have to be a scarf for your table!

I hand dyed this devore scarf in a rich forest green. The pattern of this one is bamboo. This scarf measures approximately 7.5" x 52". The background is silk chiffon (which accepts the dye) and the pattern is rayon satin (which becomes a pale silvery green). Such a cool process!

This scarf may be hand washed and complete care instructions will be included.
