Laurel pin/pendant - Copper Medium with faux enameling

Copper disc etched with Laurel wreath design and faux enameling. This is my medium size disc which is 1" before doming.

Each disc has a combination pin/pendant back so they can be worn as a brooch or as a necklace. Background is faux enameled with translucent epoxy resin.

The heraldic design on copper was etched by me using galvanic etching. This process is very similar to acid etching, only it uses saltwater and electricity, making it the opposite of electroplating. The design is first laser printed onto a special paper (PnP paper) then ironed onto the metal. This provides a resist for the acid or saltwater. Once etched, the resist is cleaned off, the disc is cut out using a disc cutter punch, then domed using a dapping block and dap. The piece is then tumbled to burnish the metal and clean the edges, blackened, dipped, coated, and the back is attached.

Fine Silver pendant with celtic design of 3 dogs (or beasties). A classic design from Folio 29 R of the Book of Kells, one of the most beautiful illuminated manuscripts ever created.

This wonderful pendant is a signed limited edition (2 of 12) fine silver reproduction of one of my gemstone carvings. The original carving is in clear sapphire (pictured on black background). The pendant measures 1" x 1.25" and is on a 16" Sterling Silver Rolo chain.

Hand Carved Celtic Knotwork Green Agate Pendant

A fabulous Green Agate Pendant with a celtic knotwork design hand carved in the pendant. The carving is gilt with silver leaf to bring out the design. The pendant measures appx. 33mm x 23mm x 2.5mm. It hangs from an 18" coated cable (roughly 5 1/2" diameter) with a magnetic clasp.

This is one of my "Bibelots", quick sketches that I carve for fun and practice. A beautiful work of art, it does not have the finished, clean quality of one of my master carvings. Bibelots are artist sketches, quick smooth lines that are not always perfect. When I make a mistake, it is carved in stone!

These items are not sand-blasted. Each design is hand carved in stone using diamond burrs and a high-speed turbine handpiece similar to a dental drill. This gives them a depth and movement not generally found in sandblasted stones.

The coin in the photo is for size reference, it is a US Dime measuring 0.705 inch (17.91 millimeters).

Dumortierite is a fibrous variably colored aluminium boro-silicate mineral with a Mohs hardness of 7, the same as quartz.
