The Story Behind SMITTEN STICKS™

We're suckers for a great love story, aren't you?

You know the familiar premise: two souls, out there in the world, slowly winding their way toward each other, waiting for that moment when they meet and realize that they were meant to be together all along. And then of course, the best part: they then proceed to live happily ever after.  Now, this particular love story is indeed about soul mates, albeit not in the traditional sense. In this case instead of lovers we have two very unique and talented women, Edyta Szyszlo and Vana Chupp, with a shared love of all things craft, paper, and design. And untraditional is what they do best!  While fate was biding it’s time, waiting for the perfect moment to introduce our two heroines, Edyta & Vana were keeping quite busy, honing their respective talents: Edyta as a highly sought after wedding and product photographer, Vana as a design expert of all things paper. They’d spent their young careers perfecting very unique skills, and generally dazzling everyone they met with their undeniable style and charm. And then one day, the stars aligned, and they met.

It wasn’t long before inspiration struck, and their love-child, Smitten Sticks, was born. Edyta, forever on the hunt for creative, quirky, and clever props for her brides & grooms to incorporate into their wedding photos, had become frustrated by the lack of polished while still charming options available. It dawned on her that in order to get the quality and aesthetic that she and her clients demand, she’d just have to make them herself! She had the inspiration, and Vana was the perfect partner to make her vision come to life.

 Together they created Smitten Sticks: handmade paper expressions, mustaches and the like, mounted on a stick for easy hand-holding. They're simple, playful, and perfect for creating fun moments begging to be captured during a wedding, birthday party, or any other celebration rife with photo ops. These elegant silhouette ornaments were born from our collaboration with the very talented Caroline of Paloma's Nest.

Each ornament is crafted by hand by Paloma's Nest utilizing fine pure white clay which has been fired and then finished with a special protective surface treatment. Silhouettes are hand painted to perfection with the finest black ceramic paint by Le Papier Studio.

Each ornament measure 3 1/4" in diameter. Sizes may vary slightly due to the nature of hand crafting. Ornament comes ready to hand with a black satin ribbon and packaged beautifully for gift giving.

Each ornament can be personalized with your choice of silhouette.

* Here are some tips for taking picture of your loved one that will set the stage for creating the most elegant keepsake silhouettes.Place the subject in front of a well lit background, facing either left or right.

* A relaxed face helps to show the features (eyelashes, nose, lips) correctly.

* If photographing more than one person, please take individual pictures.

* Take the picture straight on at eye level. For best results, stand six feet away from the subject.

* If your subject has long hair (past their neckline) put it up. Ponytails, braids, messy buns, make sure silhouettes.

What better way to create a family heirloom than with a family tree featuring every member’s silhouette on it? You can remember where you came from not only by looking at your ancestors’ names, but also their silhouettes.

This is a listing for one 3 generation silhouette family tree.
You can choose from the silhouettes on the last picture (that better resemble your family members) or request for your own custom silhouettes to be created (either a few or even all of them). Please contact me first if you want them to be custom drawn from your pictures.

These elegant silhouette ornaments were born from our collaboration with the very talented Caroline of Paloma's Nest.

Each ornament is crafted by hand by Paloma's Nest utilizing fine pure white clay which has been fired and then finished with a special protective surface treatment. Silhouettes are hand painted to perfection with the finest black ceramic paint.

Each ornament measure 3 1/4" in diameter. Sizes may vary slightly due to the nature of hand crafting. Ornament comes ready to hand with a black satin ribbon and packaged beautifully for gift giving.

The Story Behind SMITTEN STICKS™

We're suckers for a great love story, aren't you?

You know the familiar premise: two souls, out there in the world, slowly winding their way toward each other, waiting for that moment when they meet and realize that they were meant to be together all along. And then of course, the best part: they then proceed to live happily ever after.  Now, this particular love story is indeed about soul mates, albeit not in the traditional sense. In this case instead of lovers we have two very unique and talented women, Edyta Szyszlo and Vana Chupp, with a shared love of all things craft, paper, and design. And untraditional is what they do best!  While fate was biding it’s time, waiting for the perfect moment to introduce our two heroines, Edyta & Vana were keeping quite busy, honing their respective talents: Edyta as a highly sought after wedding and product photographer, Vana as a design expert of all things paper. They’d spent their young careers perfecting very unique skills, and generally dazzling everyone they met with their undeniable style and charm. And then one day, the stars aligned, and they met.

It wasn’t long before inspiration struck, and their love-child, Smitten Sticks, was born. Edyta, forever on the hunt for creative, quirky, and clever props for her brides & grooms to incorporate into their wedding photos, had become frustrated by the lack of polished while still charming options available. It dawned on her that in order to get the quality and aesthetic that she and her clients demand, she’d just have to make them herself! She had the inspiration, and Vana was the perfect partner to make her vision come to life.

We are so happy to announce our 2009 Holiday line of products...

These elegant silhouette ornaments were born from our collaboration with the very talented Caroline of Paloma's Nest.

Each ornament is crafted by hand by Paloma's Nest utilizing fine pure white clay which has been fired and then finished with a special protective surface treatment. Silhouettes are hand painted to perfection with the finest black ceramic paint by Le Papier Studio.

Each ornament measure 3 1/4" in diameter. Sizes may vary slightly due to the nature of hand crafting. Ornament comes ready to hand with a black satin ribbon and packaged beautifully for gift giving.

Each ornament can be personalized with your choice of silhouette.
