Earth and Sky pendant including Bail on pendant hangs down 2 1/5 inches X 7/10 inch wide x 3 /10 thick or 56 mm long x 20 mm wide ad 7 mm thick .

The stones are a 13 mm x 21 mm Nacozari mine turquoise cab and a 13 mm across red jasper cab set in silver .

The story of the Turtle the land and the sky lady.

In the beginning there was no earth to live on, but up above, in the Great Blue, there was a woman who dreamed dreams.

One night she dreamed about a tree covered with white blossoms, a tree that brightened up the sky when its flowers opened but that brought terrible darkness when they closed again. The dream frightened her, so she went and told it to the wise old men who lived with her, in their village in the sky.

"Pull up this tree," she begged them, but they did not understand. All they did was to dig around its roots, to make space for more light. But the tree just fell through the hole they had made and disappeared. After that there was no light at all, only darkness.

The old men grew frightened by the woman and her dreams. It was her fault that the light had gone away forever. So they dragged her toward the hole and pushed her through as well. Down, down she fell, down toward the great emptiness. There was nothing below her but a heaving waste of water and she would surely have been smashed to pieces, this strange dreaming woman from the Great Blue, had not a fish hawk come to her aid. His feathers made a pillow for her and she drifted gently above the waves.

But the fish hawk could not keep her up all on his own. He needed help. So he called out to the creatures of the deep. "We must find some firm ground for this poor woman to rest on," he said anxiously. But there was no ground, only the swirling, endless waters.

A helldiver went down, down, down to the very bottom of the sea and brought back a little bit of mud in his beak. He found a turtle, smeared the mud onto its back, and dived down again for more.

Then the ducks joined in. They loved getting muddy and they too brought beaks full of the ocean floor and spread it over the turtle's shell. The beavers helped, they were great builders and they worked away, making the shell bigger and bigger.

Everybody was very busy now and everybody was excited. This world they were making seemed to be growing enormous! The birds and the animals rushed about building countries, the continents, until, in the end, they had made the whole round earth, while all the time they sky woman was safely sitting on the turtle's back.

And the turtle holds the Earth up to this very day.

The ring combining an oak leaf in red jasper a branch and acorn seed in sterling silver. The fall color or the oak leaf represents the end of summer wisdom of another year the acorn represents the future and the branch represents the ancient oak tree that that binds the years.

The metal used in this piece was scrap pieces of sterling silver from other works that I melted into a slug then hammered into a thick sheet. The various pieces were then cut from it. The ring is made of forged sterling silver atop is a scarab beetle 17 mm X30 mm with pure blue turquoise from the Nacosari turquoise mine in Mexico, and red coral representing the sun. Along each side is the Aunk symbol of life and protection. The Aunk is 20 mm wide to 9 mm at base of ring. This Ring has a wide but comfortable fit.

The Amber stone is mounted open back so the amber touches the skin and has plenty of reflective light. To say it glows when worn is an understatement. This is transparent amber with particles of bark and or dust no insects giving it a very complex color and depth.

Transparent Amber is 120 to 180 million years old Opaque Amber is 60 million years old.

The silver used in this piece was scrap pieces of sterling silver from other works that I melted into a Ingut then hand hammered into a thick sheet. The various pieces were then cut from it. This ring has a final weight of 14. grams sterling silver 0.4grams Amber; Total weight 14.4 grams.

This cannot be resized smaller .I could possibly make it an half size larger but it is impossible to make it smaller due to its construction. I could make a simular ring along the same lines of leaf acorn and branch but it would not be the exact same .

Fairy Treasure was started after looking at some old photos of my son packing up from college dorm this spring. His friend Bobo was walking around in a tutu of about the same color as the stone. Remembering I had this stone and Bobo's habit of collecting stuff, lots of stuff, I decided to make a fairy greedily holding this Black opal stone on an abstract leaf in keeping with the free-form shape of the stone.

I traded a ring for this one end cut stone in the rough some 20years back at a rock and mineral show. I was told it was mined was from the Lander Blue Turquoise mine that quickly was depleted and closed. I never cut it till now WOW!!! It is nice.

The Lander Blue Turquoise Mine was located between Battle Mountain and Tenabo in Lander County, Nevada. In the 1970s this incredible Turquoise stone was mined from a small pocket, and has produced some of the most beautiful and unique type turquoise seen today. Color varies from a deep blue to a light blue spider web in very black contrasting matrix. Some of the turquoise specks are as small as a dot or a period at the end of a sentence. This is one of the few mines that produced almost nothing but spider web.

The owner of the mine extracted everything that was available, which was a limited quantity therefore making this rare find .

This ring is part of a series of rings based on the Greek gods of fate, luck, destiny, and prophesies.

I created this piece the Townsend’s Big eared Bat or (Corynorhinus townsendii). I have found the silhouette of this bat to be light hearted fun piece of art from a creature that usually gives people the willies. Vampira is made from 16 gauge Sterling Silver stock polished to a high shine. To spice it up and give it that truly Gothic Dracula feel I added a large 12mm X 10 mm Deep blood red Garnet.

The cord is 16 inches long with two lobster sterling silver clasp giving it a total length of 20 1/2 inches of length with pendant attached.

Townsend's Big-eared Bat occurs only in northwest Arkansas... A similar species called Rafinesque's Big-eared Bat (Corynorhinus rafinesquii) occurs in southern and eastern Arkansas.

Made from Sterling Silver, Emerald and Crow Springs Turquoise .This stone is from a 1/2 pound old stock rough turquoise I bought back in 1985 at a gem and mineral show in Monterey California. The old Rock Hound bought it himself back in The 1970s from the crow springs area.

This Opal is similar to a bolder matrix type opal ,it is from the Coober Pedy mine and has dark brown opal base instead of the red ironstone found in the true boulder opal from the Queensland mine. This stone is solid opal no low-grade ironstone.

The stone has translucent vanes of deep color opal matrix with large green, blue, red and golden flash .
The stone was finished front and back with cerium oxide polish then buffed to create a slight pattern effect on the surface between the different hardness of the stone, then re-polished on cerium oxide polish for a high sine . .This is a good solid large stone .

The white mother of pearl skull cameo was carved from a shell wall inclusion pearl and is 24mm x 18 mm x 6 mm with two aquamarine eyes 5 mm each .

I have taken many photos that show the lines in the surface of the stone created when polishing . They are not easily noticeable when viewing the stone without magnification. These are portions of the stone that are marginally softer and polish away slightly deeper. They are not scratches just part of the nature of this stone.

Morenci Turquoise is very collectible turquoise as the mine is depleted. This is from my old stock bought 25 years ago from a 76 yer old rock hound who was selling off his old stock . Stock From his 50+ years of collecting .

The Morenci mine is the largest copper mine in the US and produces over 750 million pounds of copper a year. It stretches for miles across the landscape. It is thousands of feet from the top of the mountains to the dug out bottoms and shades of bluish-green from the richness of copper that first led miners to the area are still present. Though today’s southwestern copper mines produce little turquoise, with the change of mining methods to crushing and acid washing the turquoise is destroys in the copper ore.
