Wren Ellesedil is an elven character in a series of fantasy/sci fi books that I love to re-read every 4 years or so. Wren was brave, enduring perilous travels and travails to save her race and become Queen of the Elves.

I thought about her while making these wristwarmers. The pattern at the top was inspired by the leafy boughs of forests in the books, and are adorned with working buttons that look like they were inscribed with some mysterious, secret message. Top can be worn open or closed, with button edge to the front or side, or even wear the edge at the bottom. Bottom edge is flared and looks just as good no matter how worn. Lots of possibilities for navigating treacherous labyrinth of everyday commute and errands :)

I highly recommend the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. At the bottom of this link is the suggested reading order (there's a lot of them, and you may not them all at the library, it seems they are a favorite and some reside, er, permanently in some people's bookcases. I had to buy most of mine!)

Ah, well. Love is not just for Valentine's Day, right? Love makes the world go round allll year long. Wear your heart on your head as well as on your sleeve.

This is my second in a series of heart hats that I make every winter. This year's version sports two red hearts crocheted into the body of the hat, with raised edging, and finished off with a decorative reverse edging in red.

My mannequin has a smallish head so it comes down low on her brow. Looks slouchy in pic, will fit that way if you have a small noggin, but in general fits close, beanie style :)

Positively decadent wristwarmers are crocheted in hand-dyed and hand-spun yarn in various shades of strawberry, cherry, peach and mauve. Wristwarmers have lacy inset detail and on the lower edge, a picot stitch, both in mohairand has a slight flair at the bottom. Top edge is accented by a ruffle in one of the softest, most velvety yarns I have ever used. You could just eat them, I swear (you know what I mean)

They were inspired by a beautiful picture from photographer theeye (see link to her shop below). They can be worn with the ruffle at top or with the picot edge at top, either way they'd be beautiful as they peep out from beneath your cuff. Or just as cheerful wearing them around the house or office as you work.

I may be able to reproduce these but it all depends on the dyer and spinner, no two skeins ever turn out alike :)Due to variegation in hand-dyed yarn, the wristwarmers aren't exactly alike but delicious nevertheless!

I'm a big fan of upcycling items. Upcycyling is restructuring new or unworn products into something else. I often buy things with an eye on future use, even when I have absolutely no iea of how to use them. I came into some rabbit fur scarves around 2 years ago, and am just now getting ideas on how to use them.

Wristwarmer is crocheted in a close stitch, lower edge has a pretty intertwined stitch. Rabbit-fur balls are securely attached to top of wristwarmers for a luxurious and decadent look, while also serving to help keep your wrist/fingers warm (they can be worn reversed, with fur at bottom, if desired)

Winter 2 - Winterberry scarf- Heathered mahogany/burgundy stripes

Once upon a time, I worked near this little coffee and tea place named Timothy's. They carried a divine tea named winterberry that looked like wine and warmed like it, but without the alcohol :) I don't think they're around in New York anymore, but I remember that tea every winter.

So in paying homage to winterberry tea, I crocheted this scarf in two colors of chunky yarn. The stitch is one I've invented and experimented with, and produces a knit-like texture (which pleases me immensely, as I don't knit :) The colors reverse throughout the scarf, and are echoed in the short stubby double row of fringes on each end, and in the attached trio of flowers.

Inspired by my sea scarf, the triple loop chain makes an entrance. Super soft triple loop necklace has flower embellishment with felted center, trailing suede notched leaves and luxe fibers. Vary the look by twisting to form a chunky necklace (twisting shortens the length). Loop closure on one end closes around button under flower. Made of the finest yarns for ultimate comfort.
