Festive, Festive Christmas Tree Card Pack of Ten

$25.00
Woohoo! Sometimes I get a little carried away with Halloween costumes. It's true. I'm suddenly living in my basement, giving myself glue gun burns and worrying that something isn't glittery or bushy enough. But at least here, I was happy enough to re-purpose it! Go ahead, have a laugh at my expense! And send some whacky holiday joy around~~

This is a set of TEN professionally printed cards and envelopes. They are roughly 5" square and are printed on satisfyingly thick card stock with a wonderful pearlized finish. This finish really adds a lovely sparkle, which I found difficult to capture with my camera-- but trust me-- it adds a nice bit of pizazz!

The text inside reads: Eat. Drink. Be Merry.

Individually these sell for $3.; but I am extending a group discount-- 10 for $25.00.

I'll send them out anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, via USPS, once I get your order.

Spatula Mouse Standing Card (from original woodblock print)

$3.75
This listing is for one professionally printed card showing my Spatula Mouse woodblock print. This is one nifty card!

It measures 4” square, and has a tab affixed to one side which enables the card to stand, once folded. The colors are sharp, like those in the original prints, and the surface of the sturdy card stock has a pleasing matte finish.

The mouse announces: “I could have a cupcake! … If you have any to spare.” The text on the back of the card reads:

Just wanted to say: Hi.
But seriously: cupcake.

It’s charming and fun and could easily be sent your way…A cheering keepsake or happy surprise for someone who is as fun loving as you are.

This order is for one card and one envelope, to be sent anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.
But once you experience his vast powers of vacillation and prevarication, you will understand his thwarting capabilities have reached superhero levels.

Single woodblock print, from an original illustration by yours truly. I hand pulled every print of this edition of 34, using my favorite wooden spoon. Image size: 9 5/8" x 12 3/4" tall.

Trouble (original woodblock print)

$45.00
The idea for this print came when a friend of mine told me a saying her Grandmother often repeated: “Don’t trouble trouble ‘till trouble troubles you.” I loved the locomotive energy of the phrasing, the word doing double duty as noun and verb, plus the solid piece of advice imparted. Who hasn’t inadvertently—or even willfully--complicated her own life, or someone else’s? And life will certainly bring complications as it unfolds…

The sleeping polar bear was originally some kind of slumbering monster and the mischievous girl started as a mass of children with weapons, before being pared down. I tried to give the polar bear a nice sense of solidity and size; to this end, I enlarged the original sketch of the animal and carved heavier, shaggier lines to define him. The letters are based on rubber stamps I played with when I was younger.

Ideal for young & old!

Image size measures 21 3/8” x 11 7/8” and is printed with oil based ink on bleached mulberry paper. Edition size of 15 copies.

I pulled all prints by hand, from a single carved woodblock.

Each Trouble print will be carefully rolled, and shipped your way in a sturdy, protective mailing tube, via USPS priority. If shipping to Canada, it will be sent first class/parcel post.

Cakeasaurus Printmaking Buttons

In case you’re not familiar, here are some key things to know about Cakeasaurus:

A cross between dinosaur and monster, Cakeasaurus has long sustained himself on cakes baked by others.

He can smell cake batter from miles away.

He is stealthy and adept at home entry.

He can decimate a birthday cake in the time it takes to steal a car.

He is rarely seen.

Luckily for you, he prefers to escape notice, so owning woodblocks prints with his image, or wearing buttons with his image will help to deter him from stealing your cake. Forewarned is forearmed.

Each button measures slightly over an inch.

A fun, inexpensive, way to wear a woodblock print today!

If the designs appeal to you, please check out the original prints in my shop; if you have any questions, please convo me or leave notes in the "message to seller."

Your buttons will be carefully wrapped and sent via USPS shipping.
I love the sense of potential inherent in the act of gardening, as well as the necessary balance between tending and letting go. This design has been hanging in my dining room for several years now, and it continues to convey a sense of contentment.

This rustic, large design was carved into a single woodblock and hand-pulled individually, by yours truly. Black oil-based ink was used on unbleached mulberry paper for each print in this edition of 10 (7 are available for sale, unframed). As with anything handmade, expect minor variations in your print.

Image size: 26 1/4" x 26 3/4" high.

Garden will be carefully rolled, packaged in a sturdy shipping tube, and mailed via USPS priority, anywhere in the contiguous U.S. If shipping to Canada, it will be sent first class/parcel post.
I used my first foray into multiple block printing to explore the idea of cultivated vs. "unmanaged" nature bumping up against suburban encroachment.

Each print was hand-pulled from two woodblocks; this edition uses *brown* and blue oil-based inks, on white mulberry paper. The brown, though dark, gives the design a slightly softer feel than the use of black ink.

Edition size: 8.

Image size: 13 1/4" x 16 3/4".

Each print is carefully rolled into a protective tube and shipped your way via USPS priority. I saw photographs of llamas with brightly colored yarn tied about their necks and with tassels hanging from their ears and was delighted by them. I don't know the back-story. Were these tied to keep them from getting lost in mountainous Nepal? Somewhere in Latin America? Are they loved, beasts of burden (and wool), or both?

This llama is most definitely loved. She is from a very limited edition of 16 prints. While the prints among the edition are of equally high quality, expect minor variations, as this is a hand-done process at all stages.

Image size is 7 1/2" x 13".

Should you gift yourself or someone else with this llama, it will be carefully rolled into a protective tube and shipped your way via USPS priority. Each elephant is happily running in his or her grassy landscape and you are left to imagine the rest.

To make each of the elephantine designs, I rolled rich Daniel Smith relief printmaking ink onto mulberry paper that lay on top of my elephant and landscape stencils, creating lush, mysterious and happy images. I affixed the images onto high quality textured card stock with deckled edges. The cards are left blank inside and measure approx. 5 x 7 inches. Each card has a matching envelope.
Instead we have a gleeful, hopeful mouse, who prompts: "I could have a cupcake!...If you have any to spare."

I created the finished design by inking four separate woodblocks (which I had previously carved), so each print has been pulled separately, four times, with drying time in between. Check out the behind-the-scenes shots of the used woodblocks!

This is not part of an edition. Image size measures approximately 13" square. I wrote the text onto the finished print.

Your cupcake print will be carefully rolled and shipped in a protective tube, via USPS.

And let there be cupcakes in your future!
And to be fair, his suitcase looks heavy in proportion to his size…But, in most situations, determination is the deciding factor, and this penguin has that in spades.

This edition of 20 was pulled by hand from a single, carved woodblock; I used a pale brown shade of watercolor to make the suitcase pop. This edition was printed with a rich indigo ink, on the palest sky blue mulberry paper. I think the faint blue background just adds a tiny something extra!

Approximate penguin design dimensions: 6 ¼ x 6 ¼”.

Penguins will be carefully wrapped and shipped flat to their destination, anywhere in the U.S.or Canada, via USPS first class mail.
I created this single woodblock print for a loved one on his birthday –and gave him the original block, with a set of prints—so actual prints of this design are not available for sale. He is, however, available as a professionally printed card, on cardstock with a subtle “watercolor” texture that complements the roughness of the woodcut.

This design naturally lends itself to birthdays, but the sentiment can easily apply on numerous occasions; and accordingly this listing is for a set of FOUR note cards. Each card measures roughly 5” square. These will be carefully packaged and shipped anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, via USPS First Class.
He has been around for quite some time, though this is perhaps the first documentation of this spirited character. It is as you may expect—he is rather a cross between monster and dinosaur, and his food fetish is cake. He can, in fact, sense a cake being made from miles away, just as sharks smell blood in the water. He comes; he takes your cake. He feels no remorse.

The Spanish text at the bottom is a reverse play on the more gracious, “My house is your house” – “Sus pasteles son mis pasteles.” Your cakes are my cakes. There is trouble afoot, obviously.

I carved this design into a single woodblock and hand-pulled an edition of 42. I used oil-based ink on white mulberry paper. The image measures 8 ¼ ” high by 5 ½ “ wide.

Your genuine Cakeasaurus print will be shipped flat via USPS first class, anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.
Surely not. The silky softness and fluid drape of this scarf is given a delicious weight and sparkle through the rows of glass beads I hand-sewed at both ends. The wonderful cabbage rose pattern has a lovely vintage feel to it, without being stuffy or fussy. The range of pale and dark greens and pinks of the fabric offer many matching possibilities; and the scarf is equally at home with a loved t-shirt or elegant dress.

Scarf dimensions: 54" long x 7" wide. I beaded the fringe with strong doubled beading thread and frequently knotted my work for extra durability; this lovely item will last long with due care. A contented mouse, cradling a cupcake in sleep--it made me laugh when I drew it, which seemed like a good sign. This print was hand pulled from three separate woodblocks and topped with a light sprinkling of frosting glitter.

From a signed edition of 24; as with anything hand made, expect minor variations.

Image size: 7 3/4" x 6 1/4"

Your print will be shipped flat in a protective mailer, via USPS priority mail, anywhere in the U.S. for $2.50.
Regret (original woodblock print)

$150.00
“Regret Rewrites Life”

When I carved Regret, I was focusing more on the interior world and habits of mind. We see here an older woman, who on the surface we don’t know much about. I imagine her to be strong, to have lived a full life so far, with a multitude of experiences; but while her gaze is directed at the viewer, internally she is caught up in a cycle of thoughts, worries, and yes, regret. The danger of such a sentiment is that it puts blinders on and reshapes what you have done or not done, in favor of imagined circumstances. So I guess you could say I created this as a reminder of that path, akin to the memento mori paintings. “Gather ye rosebuds while ye may!” Life is short!

Regret is a larger design, measuring 18” x 22.” Each print in this edition of 10 was hand-pulled from a single carved block.

Each print is carefully packaged in a protective mailing tube, and sent via USPS priority, anywhere in the contiguous U.S. If shipping to Canada, it will be sent first class/parcel post.

In this image, he is not smug, with birthday candles dangling from his mouth. Here he cries out, claiming his name, before the pedestaled, lit confection. May he never come to your home, for if he does-- No Cake is Safe. Luckily, as in many areas of life, knowledge counts for so very much. Your awareness of him is likely to keep him away -- while he does not fear, and he does not feel shame for his avaricious cake behaviors, he likes clean jobs. Easy in, easy out. So having this very print could, indeed, keep him away from your home and your delightful carrot cake. This is, in essence, a public service.

Single woodblock print, measuring 6"wide x 9"high. Edition of 35.

Your cakeasaurus print will be carefully packaged and shipped anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, via USPS.

Here we see him in his lesser known patient, possibly nurturing aspect, sheltering the young cupcake at the image’s heart. But will his patience be rewarded? In what world do cupcakes grow into layer cakes?

I carved this design into a single woodblock and hand-pulled an edition of 40. I used oil-based ink on white mulberry paper.
The Homecoming (original woodblock print)

$75.00
This is a rather special design, calling up a certain time and place. I created this single block print based on a photo of my Grandfather and a fellow lively resident, who were crowned "Homecoming King & Queen" of the Mardi Gras, at their community in Florida. At the time, my Grandfather was 103, still part of the community's "welcoming committee," driving other residents to their doctor's appointments, playing golf, walking the grounds every morning before breakfast and was self-reportedly too busy to enjoy his deck, because he needed to read the daily newspapers and watch the MacNeil/Lehrer show. My Granddad died later that year, after enjoying quite a long, storied life.

I don't know too much about the queen's background, but clearly she was (is?) spirited as well. A thoughtful worker in the cafeteria had sewn the capes and bought the crowns and boas for royal purposes.

This print is from an edition of 12; I hand pulled all prints and added in the red and gold regal touches...

Image size: 13" x 18 5/8"

This print will be carefully packaged and shipped in a protective mailing tube, via USPS priority. If shipping to Canada, it will be sent first class/parcel post.

Lively lines balance the quietness of the surroundings; the steam from a boiling pot echoes the lines of the clouds and pine tree outside. To me, that balance is at the heart of a welcoming kitchen—bustling activity attached to nourishment and pleasure, alongside moments of contentment and peace.

This is a large woodcut, measuring 18”x 24”; each one is hand-pulled from a single woodblock on white mulberry paper.
Edition of 8.

Each print is carefully packaged in a protective mailing tube, and sent via USPS priority, anywhere in the contiguous U.S. If shipping to Canada, it will be sent first class/parcel post.

I loved the idea that something as utilitarian as a milk bottle could also be fanciful, and I started imagining retro-feeling advertisements. As the baby heads started to differentiate themselves more, it seemed like it would make a fun, folksy print. Some of the more realistic baby faces are based on babies I know.

Each rustic print was hand-pulled from a single woodblock.

Ideal for kitchens and nurseries!

Edition size: 14 prints
Image size: 18 1/4" x 19 1/4"

Each print is carefully rolled into a protective tube and shipped your way via USPS priority.
Trouble (original woodblock print, with blue lettering)

$45.00
For a few copies of this design, I embellished the woodblock print by loosely filling in the letters and girl's dress with blue watercolor. This is NOT part of the black and white edition.

I tried to give the polar bear a nice sense of solidity and size; to this end, I enlarged the original sketch of the animal and carved heavier, shaggier lines to define him. The letters are based on rubber stamps I played with when I was younger.

Ideal for young & old!

Image size measures 21 3/8” x 11 7/8” and is printed with oil based ink on bleached mulberry paper, with a little watercolor dabbed in at the end.

I pull all prints by hand, from a single carved woodblock.

Each Trouble print will be carefully rolled, and shipped anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, in a sturdy, protective mailing tube, via USPS priority (First class/ parcel post, to Canada).
I used my first foray into multiple block printing to explore the idea of cultivated vs. "unmanaged" nature bumping up against suburban encroachment.

Each print was hand-pulled from two woodblocks; this edition uses black and green oil-based inks, on a lovely pear shade of mulberry printmakers' paper.

Edition size: 8, 6 of which are available for sale unframed.

Image size: 13 1/4" x 16 3/4".

Each print is carefully rolled into a protective tube and shipped your way via USPS priority. There’s more, much more, to be told about element #20, but here I conveyed what I could in a 6” square of space! I designed this print for the Periodic Table Printmaking Project, spearheaded by fellow etsian Azure Grackle, and am sharing a small number of this edition.

I carved complementary parts of this design on two woodblocks and hand pulled every print twice to form the basis for the image. I painted the robe a wonderfully vibrant, rich red using watercolor; and made the letters pop with metallic paint and ink. The edition is small – 11 prints, measuring 6” on each side.

Each bone enriching print will be carefully wrapped and shipped flat to its destination, anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, via USPS first class mail.

A handful of elemental bullet points for your edification—Calcium:

•is one of the most abundant metals in the Earth’s crust, in the oceans, and in most animals
•is essential to the formation of bones, teeth and eye lenses
•oversees cell division and adherence, blood coagulation and pH balance; enables muscle contraction and impulse conduction through nerves, and triggers the release of hormones
•its name is derived from Latin word Calx, meaning lime
•in compound forms, provides mortar, cement and plaster; one crystalline form Alabaster is prized for sculpture
•CaO compound Lime shines brightly when exposed to Hydrogen, burning in Oxygen – limelight has been harnessed for use in lighthouses and theaters…
•is contained in: cheddar cheese, milk chocolate, soymilk, broccoli, kale, dandelions, almonds, sardines, kelp, blackstrap molasses, almonds, oranges, figs

I played around with the print image by digitally coloring the countertop a pale blue and then adding the palest tinge of yellow to the kitchen wall. What could be happier?

The cardstock has a slight gloss to it and the inside is left blank for your message. Clearly a natural fit for birthdays, but really when is a cupcake wrong? I ask you. This is for a set of FOUR Morning Mouse Cards measuring 5” square, with matching white envelopes.

If you’re a fan, please also visit the multiple woodblock print titled “Oh how you are magically reborn every morning” in the Cakeasaurus shop.

May there be cupcakes in your future.
