The inspiration for this quilt came from the book Simple Blessings by Kim Diehl. Her pattern cleverly sewed the triangles onto the corners of the log cabin blocks to make the spools.

It is all quilt shop quality cotton with a cotton batting. It is machine quilted in an all over concentric teardrop pattern with a varigated thread. It is also machine wash and dry. Complete care instructions will be sent with the quilt.

Snuggle under this quilt when the cold northwind blows. The block is the northwind block consisting of large and small triangles. The blocks looked like clutter on my design wall until I grouped them by color and value and created diagonal movement across the quilt. There are two of each block so there are 48 different blocks in this quilt with 96 different fabrics and a couple more added to finish the border.
This quilt measures 64" x 82". It could be used on a twin bed or would be dramatic on a large wall it could even be used as a table cloth (I did put an extra leaf in the table). It is machine pieced and free motion machine quilted. I can sew a hanging sleeve on the back. It is machine washable and tumble dry using a gentle soap and gentle cycles. All the fabrics and battig are 100% cotton so it will shrink some when washed but that shrinkage is desirable and will enhance the look and feel of the quilt. Complete care instructions will be sent with the quilt.

A bright cheerful throw in pinks, yellows and blue greens. The half square triangle blocks were arranged by color and value to make diamonds almost like raised beds of flowers or herbs in a formal garden.

This quilt measures 52" x 62 1/2" it is machine pieced and free motion machine quilted with varigated thread. It is machine washable and tumble dry using a gentle soap and gentle cycles. Complete care instructions will be sent with the quilt. Because it is 100% cotton front, back and batting it will shrink a little the first couple times it is washed. Bright comtemporary colors in this quilt sing summer. This quilt would be a great way to warm up a large wall in your home or office. The tessellating star block is made by sewing 4 long traingles to a center square. All the star points were arranged and rearranged until I was pleased with the way the colors moved across the quilt, then I sewed the blocks and was very careful to keep everthing in order. Only one block interior block can be rotated and still have the design the same. A couple of the outside blocks are interchangable. It is free motion machine quilted with meandering loops and dragonflies.
The quilt is 69 inches square. Purchased hand dyes were used in the stars, I hand dyed the backing. It has been washed and the dyes did not bleed.

This would be a great quilt for a guy for graduation or a grooms quilt. A "grooms" quilt being a quilt that is user friendly, scrappy and earthy "guy" colors. It is on the couch, in the recliner and on the floor. By contrast the "brides" quilt is for show, it is fussy, never sat on or rumpled and it might get slept under on anniversaries.

The block is a traditional pattern, the lady of the lake. It is set on point and 4 blocks together made a large pinwheel block. I matched the fabric in 3 of the 4 blades to represent the 3-bladed wind turbines sprouting up all over South Dakota. There are 12 wind turbines intermingled in this quilt. There is also a humility block, those things just happen.

This quilt measures 55" x 69", it has a double bias binding. It was machine pieced and free motion machine quilted by the maker. Machine wash and dry using a gentle soap and gentle cycle. Because it is 100% cotton front, back and batting it will shrink some when washed but that shrinkage will enhance the look and feel of the quilt. Complete care instructions will come with the quilt. I can sew a hanging sleeve on the back.

Wrap up in this cuddley throw quilt. It measures 51" x 70" not too big and not too small for snuggling up with a good book or movie night. The quilt block is the jewel box seperated by sashing and cornerstones. Dark blue corner stones create continuity in the diagonal squares. Red and orange cornerstones were used where the triangles intesect drawing your attention to the shoe fly blocks. The colors and block arrangement made me think of "hopscotch and butterscotch" so that is what I named this quilt. It is machine quilted with an all over tear drop design.
This quilt is made from quilt shop quality cotton fabrics, batting and thread. It is machine washable and machine dry. It will shrink a little when washed but that shrinkage is desirable and will enhance the look and feel of the quilt. Complete care instructions will be sent with the quilt

Winter is coming! Wrap up in this scrappy quilt. I call it Hopscotch and Stars. The block is made of 2 four patches and 2 half square triangles seperated by narrow sashing and cornerstones. There are dark blue cornerstones where the four patches intersect for strong diagonal movement. There are orange and red cornerstones where the triangles intersect creating a secondary pattern. By matching the inside triangles either by color or value I created a third pattern of stars. Can you find them? Some are very subtle but fun too seek.
