“Blooming Wall” (Kukkiva muuri)

The ryijy, a type of Finnish wall hanging, is well-regarded as an art form in Finland. Though some designs date from the ryijy's beginnings in the 1700s, current designers have created many new looks as well.

The ryijy is made by tying yarn onto a warp, leaving a uniform length of yarn to make the nap. Many hours of hand-tying go into each wall hanging.

Here, I've recreated a ryijy from a well-known Finnish designer, Toini Joki.

This design, "Blooming Wall," combines geometric and organic shapes in lovely earth tones. The piece measures 18 by 52 inches.

Care instructions:
This runner will last longest if it is washed by hand. To do that, first soak it in cold water. Use a stiff, wet brush to brush in detergent and scrub any spots. Rinse well and line dry.
To wash this runner in a machine, first soak it in cold water for 15 minutes. Wash in cold water and detergent on the delicate cycle for ONLY three minutes. Rinse in cold water and line dry.

The ryijy (or rya), a type of Finnish wallhanging, is well-regarded as an art form in Finland. Though some designs date from the ryijy's beginnings in the 1700s, current designers have created many new looks as well.

The ryijy is made by tying yarn onto a warp, leaving a uniform length of yarn to make the nap. Many hours of hand-tying go into each wallhanging.

Here, I've recreated a ryijy from a well-known Finnish designer, Toini Joki.

This design, "Meadow Fairy," will bring a delightful, fun feeling into your living space. The earth tones add an aura of peace and calm. The piece measures 18 by 26 inches.

This piece can be vacuumed to dust; otherwise, dry-clean only.
