Or watching a little baby camel. Or petting a little merino sheep. Zoos are closed in winter so this cuddly soft yarn can give you some kind of substitute. Believe me, you just want to cuddle it all night.

The handspun yarn is a mixture of baby camel, silk, merino and angora. It comes in two skeins.

100 g / 3.52 oz
227 m / 248.33 yd
12 wpi

Spun to a twoply with very long tails. It contains handmade brown felt balls to resemble the meat balls. I also created two eyes from polymer clay but couldn't find a way to attach them to the yarn directly, so I just add them seperately and you can decide how to add it to your finished work in the end. I tryed with some wire, but they were too heavy for the thin wire I had.

It would make a really great scarf or hat, but it is also very decorative in its current state as a skein of yarn.

65 g / 2,3 oz
53 yd / 48 m

Created in a home without pets and free of smoke

Ramen!
Peacock - handspun artyarn with glass beads and sequins

I saw those faceted black glass beads who where shiny and iridescent with blue and green and instantly thought about a peacock! So I collected some more green, iridescent rocailles and multifaceted sequins, spun a blue-ish (blue, black, turquoise) and a green/brown-ish batt of extrasoft merino fiber, with some sparkle from angelina and spun this stripey single yarn.

151 m / 166 yd
89 g / 3,1 oz
ca. 12 wpi

Created in a home without pets and free of cigarette smoke!
Since my favourite colour is blue I am always thrilled about the colour play of the event horizon. It inspired me. This is my interpretation of this lovely shimmmering pool.

The yarn is made out of different shades of merino, mixed with blue angelina and plied with silver metallic yarn.

My always bugging camera managed to get the colour right in the first picture. The others are too turquoise, but show the structure very well.

It was created in a smoke free environment.

225 m / 246.15 yd
50 gr / 1.76 oz
15 wpi

And I love spinning winter yarns. Here comes "Jingle Bells" - right, with real jingly little bells.
It is a handspun yarn from white and multicolored red and green merino fiber. I plyed it with a silver metallic thread and a white thread which holds little silver snowflake sequins, red and white pompons and red and green bells.

A scarf I made from a similar yarn (with different snowflakes and additional ribbons) and some additional white merino yarn can be seen here:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3092/3188291602_d9caa88b41_b.jpg

90 m / 98 yd
90 g / 3,2 oz
8 wpi

Created in a home without pets and free of cigarette smoke!

It's just this colorful, bright glow when the sun shines through the high windows of a cathedral which amazes me most. And a Tiffany lamp is still something I would like to get some day.

I was inspired to spin this colorful bulky yarn, to create something cheerful in these cold and grey days. It is made from a hand carded batt in bright colors of red, yellow, blue and green. I plyed it with a contrasting black merino thread.

97 m / 108 yd
115 g / 4,1 oz
6-7 wpi

Created in a home without pets and free of cigarette smoke!

Natural born Pink - handspun natural dyed silk merino yarn

First, the fibers are hand dyed by natural dyes, a mix of cochenille and red sandal wood. They come in two different shades of rose and pink, one a bit darker than the other one, and it is a very interesting color which is not so often to be seen in commercial dyed yarns.
Secondly, it constists of one string of merino, and one string of pure tussah silk. This gives the yarn a special shine and quality. The silk took up the dye a bit different than the merino, so there is even more color variations in that.

98 m / 107 yd
96 g / 3,4 oz
8 wpi

Created in a home without pets and free of smoke

The yarn for these mittens was inspired by the Romulan Warbirds as seen in Star Trek - The Next Generation. They are mighty starships of the Romulan race and are able to cloak themselves to become invisible. The yarn includes merino fiber in different shades of green, as a dark forest green with stripes in yellow green and a faint shade of green, randomly distributed yellow glass beads resemble the windows. Black merino fiber and clear glass act as the space background.

This yarn is knit up to a warm pair of mittens in medium size. But as they are stretchy, they would also fit lager hands.
Dimensions are (unstretched):
9.5 cm width at the fingers
18 cm from the beginning of the palm to the tip
9 cm hem before the beginning of the palm
The thumb measures around 6 cm from the gusset to the top and is ca. 3.5 cm wide.
The gusset is shaped with increases to make them as comfy as possible.

Created in a home without pets and free of smoke!

The fibers for this yarn were dyed with plants! The radiant orange and yellow - one could also say bronze and gold - comes from onion skins (that was a long job to collect them!) and the green is from St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum). This is not just helpful against depression but also for making yarn green and it, also, was collected by myself. You see, the colors can only make you happy!

The yarn is 3ply and the colors come in alterning stripes.

12 wpi
112 yd / 102 m
1,9 oz / 55 g
For the fruits I included wooden beads in different colors (and the corresponding amount ;))
I also created two eyes and some brown legs from polymer clay and spun the fiber together with a brown hairy commercial yarn.

61 m / 67 yd
77 g / 2,7 oz
8 wpi

Created in a home without pets and free of cigarette smoke!

Eating it without messing up the clothes with the sticky juice perhaps.
I also liked the combination of green and pink, so I spun this yarn. It is made from two handcarded batts, the one in different shades of green and some yellow, the other one of handdyed pink merino fiber, some tussah silk and some white/bright green merino. I spun them into stripes and included also little brown wooden beads to resemble the seeds.

88 m / 96 yd
54 g / 1,9 oz
10 wpi

Created in a home without pets and free of smoke

But still it can be a little chilly. A thick scarf is surely too much - what now?

This knitted neck tube might just be the thing! It's light and breezy due to the drop stitch pattern, but also cuddly and keeps your neck warm. The yarn was handspun as a single from silk-merino blend and extra soft merino fiber, the pink and yellow was even handdyed. Pink daisies inspired this yarn, and there are also three little needlefelted daisies spun-in.

Two items are available, each measures about 7.5 x 9.5 inches, circumference 19 inch (unstretched).

Created in a smoke- and pet-free home.

Green Rainbow Shawl - handknit triangular shawl from mohair yarn

$112.00
This gorgeous and big shawl will keep you warm in this time when it's still freezing outside but on the same time it will cheer you up with its stunning colors. It is basically green with a color gradient of rainbow colors in yellow, fuchsia, violet and teal.

The yarn is a commercial italian brand designer yarn of 60% mohair and 40% acrylic. Due to the high mohair content it is a little bit scratchy, but then you probably won't wear it to the bare skin all the time. It is machine washable, but I would recommend to be very careful with that and wash it by hand to be sure it doesn't change. The yarn is also good for sheep wool allergics!

The shawl is handknit to a big triangular shawl featuring garter stitch which makes it even more warm and cozy and so it is wearable on both sides as it looks the same either way. On the two short edges there is a lacy border with holes. The rainbow colors repeat themselves in straight stripes.

Dimensions:
2,20 m wide, 1 m high, 200g

Created in a home without pets and free of smoke!

Two different shades of brown - medium brown and beige - were spun separately and then plyed to a 2-ply yarn. I only used the handspindle for spinning, so this is almost as basic as it can get.

The walnut shells were collected by myself last autumn and because of their content no chemical treatment for dying the fiber was neccessary.
There may be some remnants of the dyeing material in the yarn, but it is hardly noticable.

If you fancy the simple and natural, this is just the right yarn for you!

12 wpi - heavy yarn, worsted weight
208 yd /190 m
3 oz / 87 g

This yarn was created in a home free of smoke and pets.

They are one of my favourites! In her book, she features a board game called "Intrigue". Two players play against each other, using red and blue pieces with different abilities (queen, king, spy, messenger...). Also a third person can join, then it's called a triad. The third person uses green pieces, and has now the choice if he or she wants to form an alliance with one of the other players to fight the other, or if he/she has other plans, in fighting them both for winning in the end. The heroine of the stories is a lousy player by the way ;)

But even if you don't read at all, maybe you still like the idea? Or the yarn? It's a dance of three colors - light green, ruby and blue, handpainted with professional dyes.
The fiber is a shining, super soft silk-merino blend, spun to a 2-plyed thread with 8 wpi (bulky).

80 yd / 75m
1,6 oz / 46 g

The yarn was created in a smoke- and pet-free environment
And of course, presents ;-).

So, I like sparkly stuff around Christmas and so, of course, some sparkly Christmas yarn was a must. They created many worlds where they live out their fantasies, some based on classic novels like Alice in Wonderland or the Wizard of Oz. The river of blue fire is the river which flows through this whole universe, but is also the frontier between the single simulated worlds. In order to leave one world and get to the next, the heroes in this book must find the gateways which are connected to the river.

Like its sister, the "Golden Shadow", this yarn is a two ply of soft merino fiber with handdyed pure tussah silk. The shining silk is dyed in different shades of blue, the merino is mostly dark blue, but contains some thick parts in lighter tones. There are also dyed mohair locks and multi-faceted blue sequins in this yarn. About 8 wpi because of the thick strands.

~ Otherland Offer ~
This yarn belongs to the Otherland ArtYarn series, which consists of 4 yarns. If you buy two yarns of this series, you get $5 off, for 3 yarns you get $10 off, and if you take them all 4 you get $15 off.

110 yd / 100 m
2 oz / 55 g

This yarn was created in a home free of pets and smoke.

One thing to keep your feet warm and you healthy and happy are knitted socks.
This yarn is a durable 3ply of extra soft merino fiber, carded together with about 30-50% of synthetic fiber to enhance the lifespan of your finished garment. The latter comes in shades of brown/red and bright beige which add interesting color variations to the merino fiber.

Through the plying it will knit up in thin stripes of white and dark red. The clear, fresh air, the special glow through the reflected sunshine on the snow, little avalanches going off the trees, the tracks of wild animals which are easy to see... As you may have guessed, this is my favorite season and here comes another yarn to celebrate it and have a piece of this scenery for yourself.

Handspun thick & thin bulky yarn in shades of green and brown extrafine merino, plied with a shiny green metallic and white thread, at some parts plied with a thickly spun white merino single. I love this time of years because despite freezing the moment I step out of the house you can also have a good look at ice. Simple frozen water. In all its shades and shapes. And it is magnificent. Especially, when it comes in different shades of blue that are sparkling in the sun. This is what this yarn is about. Different shades of blue, sparkling.

This yarn is spun thinly but irregularly, the fibers are a blue and white merino and angelina mix. Though it's already quite old-fashioned I always love to watch the little violet lightnings appear and race through the dark wall, indicating that a muon made its way from its origin in a particle cascade in the atmosphere to the earth's surface (due to its relativistic speed, otherwise it would have died after some
microseconds, but I shut up now and spare you the details and calculations).

Single yarn from extrasoft black merino with sections of handcarded merino fiber in violets with angelina sparkle fiber. No, this yarn does not smell like one of them. And no, it is not made out of skunk fur. The simple explanation for this name is that the black and white merino reminded me of a skunk tail whenever I was holding it in my hand while spinning it.

The yarn is a simple thin black and white merino yarn.

It was created in a smoke free environment.

40 gr / 1.41 oz
129 m / 141.12 yd
12 wpi

Through the washing they became felted but this adds to their charm.

The scarf is knit on big needles in a loose pattern and is airy but still warm. I bought the fleece at a craft fair last autumn and spun it to a 2ply. The fiber is just a little bit coarser than the usual merino, but it still contains a bit of grease and sheep smell. But it's not unpleasant, just a bit different. It reminds me a lot on traditional bavarian costumes, the men often wear grey and green jackets called "Janker", so this yarn has a very rustic feeling.

240 m / 260 yd
125 g / 4,4 oz
9 wpi
