Big, warm red inside and hats and mittens tumbling all around the outside!! What a great little bowl!!! I had so much fun painting this piece, with many fond memories of chilly times gone by and the warm, knitted mittens and hats that kept me warm throughout!! :)

My unique black, white and 1 color "doodle" bowls and dishes were born out of a need to SIMPLIFY my work and actually, my life, and are a direct reflection of that choice. They are like a warm little hug that you hold in your hands....ORGANIC COMFORT BOWLS! :)

~*~*~THE WARM VITAL SIGNS~*~*~
The "WARMTH" bowl measures about 6 1/4" in diameter and is 2" deep. The inside of the bowl is a warm, comforting deep red with a black swirly! On the outside I painted 3 snugly hats and 4 cozy mittens with various patterns, and on the underside of the bowl I wrote the word WARMTH and signed and dated it.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing because my carefully made clay pieces, although very durable, happily deserve a little more love than commercially manufactured ware. Please do not put this in the oven!

This bowl is a fabulous size for salads, soup, cereal or HOT oatmeal, or a yummy dish of ice cream! Would make a unique and wondrous gift for anyone who knits or just loves to play outside in the winter chill!

SUNRISE CUP - Painted Tile Alder Wood Box edit

~*~*~*~SUNRISE STATISTICS~*~*~*~
I used a "low-key" color scheme on my press molded tile, then after it was fired, I firmly grouted it into the alder wood box top and then lined the bottom of the box with a Splash! of colorful handmade paper! The box is signed and dated on the bottom by yours truly.

The box is 5.25" square and 2.25" deep and has little felt feet on the bottom for soft resting on any surface. It should be used only to store "dry" goods, as it is not water "proofed".

What a fabulous little treasure box that would make a great gift to someone special.... or yourself!

The "SHARE" dish measures about 5" in diameter and is 1/2" deep. I painted the inside of the dish with 2 little penguins sharing a ride on the string of a big red balloon and wrote the word SHARE. On the underside I painted the same yummy,deep red as the balloon and then signed and dated it.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing because my carefully made clay pieces, although very durable, happily deserve a little more love than commercially manufactured ware. Please do not put this in the oven!

This is an adorable dish and it will look fabulous in any room in the house: the bedroom holding jewelry; the bathroom holding hairpins; the kitchen or dining room holding candy, a small side dish or perhaps a candle or incense; the office holding paper clips. The "BELIEVE" dish measures about 5 1/2" in diameter and is 1/2" deep. The inside of the bowl has been painted with a little cutie bird who has gathered 3 stars and created a little bouquet of light, while all around them are their little dancing star friends, and I wrote the word BELIEVE. On the outside I painted a cheery, celebration yellow with little red flecks in it, and signed and dated it.

Those were the ideas I was thinking of as I painted this bowl.... stepping stones... on my way ....

~*~*~THE SOLID STATISTICS!~*~*~
The "SOLID" bowl measures about 11.5" in diameter and is
2.5" deep. On the inside of the bowl I painted a whole lot of circular/square/oblong "stones" and the word SOLID. The outside of the bowl is mottled grey and white, black and some very light blue and purple, kind of like river stones!! It is signed and dated by yours truly.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing because my carefully made clay pieces, although very durable, happily deserve a little more love than commercially manufactured ware. This stunning bowl is an excellent size for serving big salads or pasta, or as a centerpiece on your table holding fruit or other bounty! FLO - Funky Chicken Soap/Spoon/Trinket Dish

That's right...."FLO" is her name and holdin' soaps or sponges, spoons or scruby's is her game, and she ain't messin' around!!

~*~*~*~FUNKY INFORMATION~*~*~*~
"FLO" is a hand built clay dish that has 5 small holes in the middle (so if used for soap or a wet sponge, they won't be sitting in a slimy mess all the time....EW!). It also has 3 little red feet so it will stand up off the counter and "curves up" to cradle whatever is placed to rest on it...YAY!! I painted "her" fun and frivolous little attitude with bright primary colors and dots and named her "FLO", signed and dated her on her underside, put 2 coats of clear glaze on and fired her again, so she'd be nice and sturdy!

This dish measures about 8" long (from "breast" to "tail tip") and 6" from top of "head" to "belly" of dish. It stands about 1/2" off whatever surface.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing because my carefully made clay pieces, although very durable, happily deserve a little more love than commercially manufactured ware. The "OPEN" bowl is one of my unique black, white and 1 color "doodle" bowls and it measures about 6 1/4" in diameter and is 1 3/4" deep. The "AWAKEN" dish measures about 8 1/2" on the long side of it's oval shape, 7 1/2" on it's shorter side and is 1/2" deep. On the inside of the dish I painted a very simple image of a Buddha and the word AWAKEN. The literal translation of the word "Buddha" is: TO WAKE UP or TO BE AWAKENED, so, with this in mind, on the outside of the dish I painted a gorgeous, bright sunny yellow, like daybreak and long awaited beginnings. It is signed and dated by yours truly.

DAWN KOI POND - Gorgeous Large Serving Bowl

You know how the water in morning's first light just seems softer?
Like air pooling on the ground and the colors are subtle, fresh and serenely beautiful....
That is what I was thinking when I painted this wondrous orange and white Koi, languidly swimming under lotus pads and sprouting leaves, kept company by a passing dragonfly....serenity personified. :)

This is a VERY LARGE bowl! It is 15" in diameter and 3 1/2" deep. All of my functional pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, (although I do recommend hand washing, just to be safe), and painted with lead free/food safe glazes. Please do not put this in the oven!

It was bisque fired first to obtain strength and a firm surface for me paint on the 3 layers of glazes (and 2 coats of clear glaze) to achieve the brilliantly beautiful colors you see in this wondrous Koi pond scene. The underside of the bowl is painted with a soft and sublime tangerine orange and is titled "Sunrise Salutations Take Flight" and singed and dated by yours truly.

This stunning Koi Pond Bowl is an excellent size for serving big salads or pasta, or as a centerpiece on your table, holding seasonal bounty of all shapes and sizes! When not in use it can be placed in a "deep" plate stand to be enjoyed as an art-piece. This bowl would also be a beautiful and treasured gift....Spring Wedding?

MEOW - Gorgeous Kitty Cup/Vase

This wheel thrown cup measures about 4 1/2" tall and is 3 3/4" in diameter. It holds 14 ounces of your favorite liquid or a quite a few short stemmed flowers if you are using it as a vase!

The cup has been slightly "squared" while the clay was still wet in order to delight your hands and create fun "flat-ish" sides for me to paint on these 3 fabulous cats and the colorful little dragonfly! The inside of the cup is a gorgeous warm orange, but I left the bottom white and painted on my signature black swirly. I titled it "MEOW", signed and dated it on the underside, applied 2 coats of clear glaze to the inside and outside of the cup, and then fired it again to cone 06.

That's what this stunning vase is all about and what better way to showcase the excellent purity of white poppies than to paint them against an intense, luscious, deep burgundy red?

This is a large wheel thrown vase measuring 10" tall by about 6" diameter at it's widest point. After I drew the poppy design on the bisqued vase, I layered 3 coats of glaze paints in order to achieve the brilliant colors you see on the finished piece. I titled it "WINTER WHITE FLORAL ROYALTY", signed and dated it, applied 2 coats of clear glaze (inside and out, so it is water tight and will not sweat), and fired it again to cone 06.

This gorgeous white poppy and deep burgundy vase will look incredible no matter where it lives in your home or it would also be a beautiful and treasured Christmas, Bridal Shower or Wedding gift!

The "ADVENTURE" dish measures about 5 1/2" in diameter and is 1" deep. I painted the inside of the dish with 3 little penguins sharing a ride on the string of a big red balloon and wrote the word ADVENTURE. On the underside I painted the same yummy,deep red as the balloon and then signed and dated it.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing because my carefully made clay pieces, although very durable, happily deserve a little more love than commercially manufactured ware. Please do not put this in the oven!

BLOOM - Simple Soul Stamped Tile Wall Hanging

In my quest for simplicity in my clay work I have started to create smaller and more organic looking clay pieces using stamps, colored stains and just a few glazes here and there. This is the first in a series of uplifting wall hangings and trinket dishes that I'm adding to my "Simple Soul" line of pottery, I hope you like it as much as I love creating these little works of positive art.

~*~*~*~BLOOMING STATISTICS~*~*~*~
This beautiful tile wall hanging is made from rolled out stoneware clay that has been hand stamped with a vintage textile block from India that is about 100 years old,(and carved out of pear wood!), as well as some antique letterpress stamps for the word BLOOM.

I have applied stains to the bisqued clay and then rubbed them off here and there to give the piece a rustic look, then I added a few colored glazes to accentuate the stamped design. It has been fired a second time with a clear matte glaze to protect it and create an inspiring piece that can be hung indoors or outside in a protected area. The hanger is made from recycled copper wire and strung with tiny glass beads of varying colors.

The hanging is 7" long and 5" wide and signed and dated on the back by yours truly.

The "NAMASTE" dish measures about 3 1/2" long and 3" wide and curves up around it's edges about an 1/4". I painted the inside of the dish with a little birdie in a cross legged seated yoga pose, wings at heart, head bowed and wrote the word NAMASTE. The underside is a wondrously uplifting burnt orangey/copper and is signed and dated by yours truly.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing because my carefully made clay pieces, although very durable, happily deserve a little more love than commercially manufactured ware. Please do not put this in the oven!

This little birdie set out on a mission with it's wee yellow polka dotted bag: to Gather up a few Stars and bring them home to show everyone that Anything is Possible!!

The "GATHER" dish measures about 6 1/2" in diameter and is 1" deep. The inside of the bowl has been painted with a little cutie bird just about to grab up a Star and put it in it's bag, where there's already another star poking out! All around them are their little star friends, all painted with a bright speckled yellow glaze, and I wrote the word GATHER. On the outside I painted a the same cheery, celebration yellow as the stars and signed and dated it.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. This wheel thrown cup measures about 4" tall and is 3 3/4" in diameter. It holds 12 ounces of your favorite liquid or a quite a few short stemmed flowers if you are using it as a vase!

The cup has been slightly "squared" while the clay was still wet in order to delight your hands and create fun "flat-ish" sides for me to paint on these 4 extra cute chickie peepers! The inside of the cup is a glorious deep yellow, but I left the bottom white and painted on my signature black swirly. I titled it "PEEP", signed and dated it on the underside, applied 2 coats of clear glaze to the inside and outside of the mug, and then fired it again to cone 06.

COZY - Simple Soul Warm Birdie Doodle Bowl

BRRRRRRR....it's COLD out there....at least here in Seattle where these little cuties live! But these 5 have got it covered, literally!, cozying it up in their hats, earmuffs and scarves, ready to face the upcoming months of cold weather with WARMTH and STYLE!! :)

My unique black, white and 1 color "doodle" bowls and dishes are very different from the pieces that I have painted in the past. They were born out of a need to SIMPLIFY my work and are a direct reflection of that choice. They are like a warm little hug that you hold in your hands....ORGANIC COMFORT BOWLS! :)

The "COZY" bowl measures about 5" in diameter and is 1.5" deep. The inside of the bowl is an amazing heartwarming reddish/orange with a black swirly. I LOVE the word BELIEVE!!
It just encompasses, well, everything! I was told by someone a heck of a lot wiser than me that if I believe in something then, for me, it will be so. Sounds naive. Sounds impossible. Sounds crazy. Sounds like FUN!!!
So I wanted to use the word with an image for one of my doodle bowls and I came up with a vision of a snowman reaching up to the stars...or maybe, he's "Dancing With The Stars!"
YAY!! :)

The "HOLD" bowl measures about 5 1/2" in diameter and is 3/4" deep. The Snowman on the inside of the bowl has been painted with 3 coats of a multi-colored speckled white glaze, but I left the branches for his arms pure white, so they look like birch twigs! He's got quite a wonderful lite orange carrot nose, a big black coal grin and the most fabulous red buttons! All around him are little dancing star friends, and I wrote the word BELIEVE. On the outside I painted a warm and wonderful red speckled orange and signed and dated it.

HOPE - Keepsake Peace Dove Clay Ornament

I added that one word to Gandhi's quote because we ALL can be the Hope that is needed in this World. The Dove is the International Symbol for Peace and in the spirit of simplicity I created this ornament design to celebrate this season of giving and gratitude.

Each dove ornament is hand cut and then painted with 3 coats of a multi-colored speckled whte glaze. I wrote the word HOPE on it, signed and dated the back, and then fired it in my kiln. I finished each ornament by putting a beautiful miniature Snow Drop...a genuine Swarovski teardrop crystal bead!...... on recycled swirling copper wire to hang it by.

This unique and wondrous "HOPE" ornament measures 3 1/2" across and hangs at 4 1/2" with the wire.

Simple. Elegant. Joyful. This ornament stretches across seasons and can be hung not just on your Holiday tree but anywhere in your home, office/workplace or even your car, bringing a little joy and love year round!

UNDERSEA - Fantabulous Fish Vase

This beautiful wheel thrown vase is part of a series I did (most of the others have all sold...) exploring the colors used in quite a few paintings I've seen depicting aquatic life in the Mediterranean.
And I just couldn't help myself when I was painting the 2 fish and seahorse and octopus...I had to give them playful expressions and gestures, (the octopus has got one of it's tentacles reaching for one of the fishes tail!), because....well, who knows what's really going on with them underneath the beautiful turquoise green sea water...? :)

~*~*~*~UNDER WATER INFORMATION~*~*~*~
This is a good sized vase measuring 8" tall by about 6" diameter at it's widest point. After I drew the "Undersea" design on the bisqued vase, I layered 3 coats of glaze paints in order to achieve the brilliant colors you see on the finished piece. I signed and dated it, applied 2 coats of clear glaze (inside and out, so it is water tight and will not sweat), and fired it again to cone 06.

This unique and playful "Undersea Fish and Friends" vase will look incredible no matter where it lives in your home or it would also be a beautiful and treasured Bridal Shower or Wedding gift!

The "COZY" dish measures about 4 1/4" in diameter and is 1/2" deep. I painted the inside of the dish with a little birdie and a wee kitten all warm and snugly under their blanky, and wrote the word COZY. On the underside I painted a gorgeous deep warm red and then signed and dated it.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing because my carefully made clay pieces, although very durable, happily deserve a little more love than commercially manufactured ware. Please do not put this in the oven!

Are you a cat AND bird lover? How about naps...aren't they divine? This little dish is a great reminder of the comfort of friends and catching a little snooze and it will look fabulous in any room in the house: the bedroom holding jewelry; the bathroom holding hairpins; the kitchen or dining room holding candy, a small side dish or perhaps a candle or incense; the office holding paper clips.

Well...Here I go again...mixing ART and PEACE and POLITICS!!
But I was so inspired by this quote that I couldn't help myself:
"While We Breathe
We HOPE."
President Barack Obama spoke these words in his Acceptance Speech for the Democratic Nomination for President on November 4, 2008. He was echoing a phrase that many great leaders have used since Cicero first spoke these words a gazillion years ago. It embodies the concept that "out of many, we are one" and it holds out faith in the belief of our Unity: all our Dreams, all our Aspirations and all our Lives are a possibility on this One Earth that we all call home.

Yes WE Can!

~*~*~*~HOPEFUL INFORMATION~*~*~*~
This is a large wheel thrown mug with an extruded handle that was bisque fired first before I painted on the the 4 intensely Rainbow colored Poppies and wrote the quote you see above. The inside of the mug is painted with an intense deep saturated yellow, but I kept the bottom white and it has my signature little black swirly. I also painted a tiny red poppy up by the rim, where the handle attaches. The wondrous green handle has "BELIEVE" written on it and I painted a little orange poppy at the base. I signed and dated it on the bottom, applied 2 coats of clear glaze to the inside and outside of the mug, and then fired it again to cone 06.

The finished mug holds 20 ounces of whatever liquid, and stands about 4 1/4" tall and is about 4 1/2" wide at the top, not including the handle.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing because my carefully made clay pieces, although very durable, happily deserve a little more love than commercially manufactured ware. Please do not put this in the oven!

This cup is such an inspiring and upbeat way to start your morning, lift your afternoon and/or relax and reflect with in the evening. Politics and Peace...the time has come and I Believe with all my heart that if we just create change in small positive ways every day this world will move toward a better and more peaceful place....YES WE CAN!! Would make a great gift too!

I've heard tell that Raven's are one of the smartest birds gracing our little planet and I think that must be right!!
These 3 Ebony beauties have managed to gather some essential symbolic elements of Life all around this bowl:
~One has found an assortment of Balls: Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange...the multi-colors of our Planet, the Gorgeous Earth we call Home!!
~One is about to pick up a Golden Key in it's beak: Keys open all kinds of intellectual, spiritual and physical doors.

TREAT - Yummy Dessert Doodle Bowl

Decadent cheesecake? Old fashioned ice cream cone? An exquisite Dove bar? What about the yummiest frosted cupcake ever and a few Hershey's kisses thrown in for good measure? ALL WITHOUT THE CALORIES....what a TREAT!! YAY!!

My unique black, white and 1 color "doodle" bowls and dishes are very different from the pieces that I have painted in the past. They were born out of a need to SIMPLIFY my work and are a direct reflection of that choice. They are like a warm little hug that you hold in your hands....ORGANIC COMFORT BOWLS! :)

~*~*~SWEET STATISTICS!!!~*~*~
The "TREAT" bowl measures about 6" in diameter and is 2" deep. The inside of the bowl is a decadent candy apple red with a black curlicue! On the outside I painted/drew the 4 delicious sweets described above and 3 little "kisses", wrote the word TREAT and signed and dated it.

PEACE - Painted Clay Tile Wall Hanging

Peace To All Who Enter....

I painted one of these inspiring tile plaques to hang right by my front door and it's a constant harmonious reminder of how I want my life to be both entering and leaving my home.

~*~*~*~PEACEFUL PARTICULARS~*~*~*~
First, I cut out this clay tile "free-form" and then bisque fired it to cone 05. I then drew the design with pencil onto the tile and applied 3 coats of my low-fire glaze paints in order to achieve the brilliant colors you see on the finished piece. I titled the piece "SALUTATIONS IN HARMONY", signed and dated it on the back, added 2 coats of clear glaze and then fired it again to cone 06. I used recycled copper wire strung with a variety of glass and stone beads to add a colorful, whimsical finishing touch for it to hang by.

The finished tile is 15" long (including the wire) by
7 1/2" at it's widest points.

This is such a powerful message to have by any of the entryways into your home! Would also make a fabulous Bridal Shower or Wedding Gift, or a unique and wondrous Housewarming present!!

PEACE - Keepsake Dove Clay Ornament

"Be The Change/Peace
You Wish to See in the World"

I added that one word to Gandhi's quote because we ALL can be the Peace that is needed in this World. The Dove is the International symbol for Peace and in the spirit of simplicity I created this ornament design to celebrate this season of giving and gratitude.

Each dove ornament is hand cut and then painted with 3 coats of a multi-colored speckled white glaze. I wrote the word PEACE on it, signed and dated the back, and then fired it in my kiln. I finished each ornament by putting a beautiful Swarovski teardrop crystal bead on recycled swirling copper wire to hang it by.

This unique and wondrous "PEACE" ornament measures 2 1/2" across and hangs at 3.5" with the wire.

Simple. Elegant. Peaceful. This ornament stretches across seasons and can be hung not just on your Holiday tree but anywhere in your home, office/workplace or even your car, bringing a little joy and peace year round!

The "TREASURE" bowl measures about 6 1/2" in diameter and is
3" deep. The inside of the bowl is an intense, deep, saturated red with my signature black swirly.
On the outside I painted 5 beautiful Raven heads, each with one of the Treasures listed above. As you can see from the photos, the 5 "Treasures" on the sides of the bowl are all "3-D"...I worked the clay so that they would stick out!!. In this way you can run your fingers around the outside of the bowl and FEEL the string, the heart, the key, the balls...How FUN!!!
On the underside of the bowl I wrote the word TREASURE (and even added one extra red ball just because!) and signed and dated it.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing because my carefully made clay pieces, although very durable, happily deserve a little more love than commercially manufactured ware. I used a "low-key" color scheme on my press molded tile, then after it was fired, I firmly grouted it into the alder wood box top and then lined the bottom of the box with a wondrous green leaf designed handmade paper! The box is signed and dated on the bottom by yours truly.

The box is 5.25" square and 2.25" deep and has little felt feet on the bottom for soft resting on any surface. It should be used only to store "dry" goods, as it is not water "proofed".

What a fabulous little treasure box that would make a great gift to someone special.... or yourself!

FLY - FUNtabulous Penguin and Red Balloon Bowl

Oh MY!!
These 4 little guys have always wanted to "FLY" and now they are getting their chance!! They have gotten a hold of some big Red Balloons and are lifting off into the stratosphere. Well, all but one, who's looking a wee bit consternated about the whole situation, staring at his red balloon slowly deflating. Ahhhhh...maybe he can catch a ride with one the other penguin balloonists.....

This is a medium sized bowl that measures 6 1/4" in diameter at the rim and is 2 1/2" deep. The inside of the bowl,(as well as the awesome balloons!), is painted with 3 layers of an absolutely gorgeous deep red and has my signature black swirly-cue. On the outside of the bowl I painted 4 playful penguins....learning what it means to be airborne.....well, except the one! On the bottom of the bowl I wrote the word "FLY", painted a tiny red balloon and signed and dated it.

FELIX - Coolest Kitty Soap/Spoon/Trinket Dish

FELIX is a handsome little devil and he's ready to assist you (as cats rarely do!!) by holding any manner of items, from soaps to sponges, jewelry to spoons!

~*~*~*~FELINE FACTS~*~*~*~
"FELIX" is a hand built clay dish that has 5 small holes in the middle (so if used for soap or a wet sponge, they won't be sitting in a slimy mess all the time....EW!). It also has 3 little brown feet so it will stand up off the counter and "curves up" to cradle whatever is placed to rest on it...YAY!! I painted "his" fun and frivolous little attitude with a brown and tan "Calico" design and named him "FELIX", signed and dated him on his underside, put 2 coats of clear glaze on and fired her again, so he'd be nice and sturdy!

This dish measures about 8.5" long (from "tip of ear" to "rear") and 5.5" from top of "back" to "little paw" of dish. It stands about 1/2" off whatever surface. All of my functional pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, (although I do recommend hand washing, just to be safe), and painted with lead free/food safe glazes.

"FELIX THE CAT" would be a funtastic addition to any kitchen, bathroom or even your dining room table (holding candy and such!). And what a whimsical gift for any kitty lover, especially those with a cat allergy!! :)

EARTH'S MIRTH - Funtabulous Flower Pitcher/Vase

Flowers....Flowers...."The Earth Laughs in Flowers"!! What a Fabulous quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson and I had SO MUCH FUN creating this pitcher/vase with those words in mind! First I slip cast the vase, then "manipulated" the form by cutting clay here and adding clay there (in the form of a spout and a handle) to create a miniature "watering can"... YAY!
All the flowers are happy and laughing! :)

This piece is 6" tall and 7" from back of handle to tip of spout and is about 3" "deep". All of my functional pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, (although I do recommend hand washing, just to be safe), and painted with lead free/food safe glazes.

~*~*~*~FISHING FOR INFORMATION~*~*~*~
"JOE" is a hand built clay dish that has 5 small holes in the middle (so if used for soap or a wet sponge, they won't be sitting in a slimy mess all the time....YAY!). It also has 3 little green feet so it will stand up off the counter and "curves up" to cradle whatever is placed to rest on it...Double YAY!! I painted "his" fun and frivolous little attitude with a funtabulous aqua blue, green and bright red colour palette and named him "JOE", signed and dated him on his underside, put 2 coats of clear glaze on and fired him again, so he'd be nice and sturdy!

This dish measures about 8" long (from "lip" to "tail tip") and 5 1/2" from top of "fin" to "belly" of dish. It stands about 1/2" off whatever surface. All of my functional pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, (although I do recommend hand washing, just to be safe), and painted with lead free/food safe glazes.

"JOE" definitely has a laid-back attitude and would be at home in whatever room you decide to have him: kitchen, bathroom or even your dining room table (holding candy and such!). He would also make a whimsical and unique gift for any of your fish lovin' friends or any ocean lover!!

These little birdies are all bundled up in their yellow polka dotted winter cozies and the little one is hitching a ride on his Mommie's (or a friends?) back. They're heading for some place Fun...like maybe skating or sledding, and then the candy store for a treat!

The "RIDE" dish measures about 5 1/2" in diameter and is 1/2" deep. I painted the inside of the dish with 2 little birdies on their way to an adventure and wrote the word "RIDE". On the underside I painted a bright sunshiny yellow with wee red speckles and it's signed and dated by yours truly.

All of my handmade pottery is painted with lead free/food safe glazes. It is microwave and dishwasher safe, although I do recommend hand washing because my carefully made clay pieces, although very durable, happily deserve a little more love than commercially manufactured ware. Wow!! Words to live by and it looks like these 2 Kittys are following this amazing and wondrous advise: to journey down the path of that which you truly love, sharing it with someone you absolutely adore! :)

First I cut out the clay tile "freeform" and then bisque fired it to cone 05. I then drew the design with pencil onto the tile and applied 3 coats of glaze paints in order to achieve the brilliant colors you see on the finished piece. I titled "FELINE PHILOSOPHY" and signed and dated it on the back, added 2 coats of clear glaze and then fired it again to cone 06. I used recycled copper wire and beads to add a colorful, whimsical finishing touch for it to hang by.

The finished tile is 10" long by 6" wide and it hangs at 13.5" with the addition of the copper wire.

This tile is full of feline whimsy and will be a funtastic reminder to keep your passion as a life force destination, whether hanging indoors in your home or in a sheltered spot outside. It would also be a great gift to all your kitty lovin' friends!!

~*~*~*~RAVEN'S TREAT PARTICULARS~*~*~*~
I find Ravens/Crows the most amazing birds to paint!! Because of their "blackness" they can be so many shades of dark colors: plums and reds, deep deep deep burnt oranges, or yummy dark cobalt blue, like this one! The plate was bisque fired to cone 05, then I drew the raven and berry design on it with pencil and started the 3 part layering of glaze paints in order to achieve the brilliant colors you see on the finished piece. I decided to add a few pinwheel stars and a "swirly background" to give it movement, (perhaps there's a crisp Autumn breeze blowing through the berry patch!), painted the underside an intense raspberry red, titled it "Raven's Red Raspberry Treat", signed and dated it, added 2 coats of clear glaze and then fired it to cone 06.

This is a Press Molded deep Plate/Platter made from earthenware clay and it measures 14" in diameter and is 1 1/2" deep. All of my functional pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, (although I do recommend hand washing, just to be safe), and painted with lead free/food safe glazes. Please do not put this in the oven!

This is an exciting serving dish for all occasions and when not in use can be placed in a plate stand and be on display as an art-piece in your home. Who knew Raven's could be so colorfully multi-functional!?! This would also make a unique, playful and wondrous gift for any Raven/Crow lover....or yourself!!!

I used recycled copper wire strung with a variety of glass and stone beads to add a colorful, whimsical finishing touch for it to hang by.

The finished tile is 16" long (including the wire) by 7" at it's widest points.

This is such a positive and uplifting piece that it will look great no matter where you chose to hang it! Would make a fabulous Bridal Shower or Wedding Gift too!!

EXPLORE - Falling Ginkgo Leaves Quote Mug

****NOTE!*** This gorgeous mug has a glaze blip next to one of the ginkgo leaves (see the close up in the last thumbnail photo). This in no way compromises the usefulness of this cup as the blip is under the final coat of clear glaze, but it is an unfortunate flaw in the middle of the design, and so I discounted the mug 50% off regular price of $38 to $19!! :)

~*~*~*~EXPLORING INFORMATION~*~*~*~
I hand built this drinking vessel out of clay slab pieces, added an extruded handle and then fired it to cone 05. I then painted on the falling yellow and green ginkgo leaves and added the amazing quote you see above. The inside of the mug is painted with a gorgeous and uplifting yellow, but I kept the bottom white and it has a little black swirly. The wondrous lite yellow handle has "EXPLORE" written on it and I painted another tiny black swirly on the bottom. I signed and dated it on the bottom, applied 2 coats of clear glaze to the inside and outside of the mug, and then fired it again to cone 06.

The finished mug holds 16 ounces of whatever liquid, and stands 4 1/4" tall and is about 4" wide at the top, not including the handle. All of my functional pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, (although I do recommend hand washing, just to be safe), and painted with lead free/food safe glazes.

This cup is such an inspiring and upbeat way to start your morning, lift your afternoon and/or relax and reflect with in the evening. Think about it: Your Life's Journey really IS Your Destination......! Great gift for anyone, young or old, who might be beginning a new journey in their lives. :)

KOI AUTUMN EQUINOX - Hanging Clay Tile Painting

First I rolled out the big clay slab, cutting it with the Koi design in mind and then after the tile was bisque fired, I drew the picture in pencil then layered and layered the glaze paints in order to achieve the depth of color you see on the finished piece. I titled it "KOI AUTUMN EQUINOX", signed and dated it on the back and applied 2 coats of clear glaze and fired it again to cone 06.

The tile by itself measures about 12" long by 12" wide and hangs at a final length of 14" with the addition of the copper wire and Pacific Madrona wood (found while beach combing on the Oregon Coast!). It doesn't weigh anymore than a framed painting of a similar size, if that is a concern, and I have riveted a copper hanging wire to the back of the wood.

SUNFLOWER SALUTATION - Colorful Blossom Bowl

Here is my signature image, the sunflower - BIG BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL! - in a shallow serving or centerpiece bowl.

~*~*~*~SUNFLOWER STATISTICS!~*~*~*~
I love to hand build with clay and press molding is an extension of that passion, rolling the clay out and then pressing it smoothly into a plaster mold that I created. First it is bisque fired, then sanded, then drawn on and painted, and on this particular piece I just wanted my huge sunflower head with lots and lots of multi-colored dots for it's center and gorgeous, bright orange for it's underside. I used 3 coats of colored glazes to achieve the brilliant colors you see on the finished piece, titled it "SUNFLOWER SALUTATIONS", signed and dated it on the back, applied 2 coats of clear glaze and then fired it again to cone 06.

The bowl is 11.5" in diameter and 2" deep. All of my functional pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, (although I do recommend hand washing, just to be safe), and painted with lead free/food safe glazes.

This bowl would be a sunny, eye-catching and functional art addition to any room in your home or it would also make a fabulous gift!

GECKO GOOD FORTUNE - Colorful Trivet/Wall Hanging

When I was 7, 8 and 9 years old I lived in Hawaii and geckos were EVERYWHERE! They were (and are!) little miracle workers...devouring big scary bugs (including those gargantuan nasty cockroaches) while I dreamed peacefully in my little bed. They loom large in Hawaiian legend and lore and are considered bearers of good luck throughout the Islands. This is my tribute to them...with a tiny bit of a Southwestern artsy flare thrown in for more good fortune!! :)

I press mold all my own tiles and then painted the gecko design on this one using 3 coats of glaze paints and lots of black lines to achieve the bright fun design you see on the finished piece. It has been firmly grouted into a black painted wooden frame that has a little niche on the backside for hanging. The back of the tile has been titled, signed and dated by yours truly.

The trivet/wall hanging measures 8" square and is completely functional to place bowls and casseroles on at your dining room table and then can be hung on your wall as an art piece when not in use!

A little Gecko Good Fortune...who doesn't need that?! :)

SUNFLOWER IRIS - Bright and Beautiful Painted Plate

Here is my signature image, the sunflower - BIG BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL! - taking over the whole surface of this "wavey" press molded plate! What a gorgeous piece to serve on or give as an incredible Bridal Shower or Wedding gift!! :)

Press molding clay is my formal way of hand building using my own plaster molds. First the plate was bisque fired to cone 05, then sanded, and then for this particular piece I just wanted my huge sunflower head with lots and lots of multi-colored dots for it's center and an absolutely gorgeous purple background, and in order to achieve the brilliant colors you see on the finished piece, I used 3 coats of colored glazes! And except for the foot ring, which I painted the same lovely purple as the background, I left the underside white, titled it "SUNFLOWER IRIS", signed and dated it, applied 2 coats of clear glaze and then fired it again to cone 06.

The plate is 11" in diameter and has about a 1/2" foot-ring and a kind of a "wave" to the actual plate that I created by manipulating the clay after it came out of the mold. All of my functional pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, (although I do recommend hand washing, just to be safe), and painted with lead free/food safe glazes. Please do not put this in the oven!

This plate would be a sunny, eye-catching and functional art addition to any room in your home whether being used for service or resting in a plate stand as an art piece!

PEONY PASSION - Gorgeous Big Bold Flower Bowl

I have these amazing dinner plate sized magenta peonies that grow in my garden and they were my inspiration for this beautiful bowl. I cut a bunch and placed them in a vase in my studio and just started to paint: 3 astonishing Peonies, their leaves like a pinwheel...a Passionate Bowl indeed! :)

****NOTE: This Beautiful bowl is part of a painted pottery series of that I created and I am no longer working in this type of a format. It has been discounted 40% (from $145 to $87!!)as part of my "Discontinued Line of Pottery" SALE! This is a phenomenal price for a unique, hand painted bowl of this size!! :)

As with all of my original painted pieces, I drew the design on the bisqued bowl with pencil first and then layered 3 coats of the multi-colored glazes to achieve the intense color you see on the final piece. I painted the underside of the bowl the same gorgeous green that you see on the leaves, titled it "PEONY PASSION", signed and dated it and then applied 2 coats of clear glaze before firing it again to cone 06.

This is a Large bowl!! It's about 14" in diameter and almost 4" deep. All of my functional pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, (although I do recommend hand washing, just to be safe), and painted with lead free/food safe glazes. Please do not put this in the oven!

This fabulous Peony Bowl is an excellent size for serving big salads or pasta, or as a centerpiece on your table holding seasonal bounty, or just by itself, resting in a deep plate stand as an art piece! This bowl would also be a beautiful and treasured gift to anyone who loves flowers..... year round!
