A fresco is a very special type of wall mural. The paint has a glow that seems to radiate from inside the wall. This is achieved by painting directly on wet plaster. When dry, the paint and the plaster permanently fuse together.

As I am creating jewelry, I find myself aiming for the same effect. Only instead of paint, I mix metals and stones. Two different mediums permanently and beautifully fused together as if they have always been one.

Like the paint of an ancient fresco, this necklace is dripping with gems and pearls that have an amazing holistic beauty and glow. As you gaze on the pendant, you will find it infused with the earthy colors of greens, yellows, brown and gold. A closer look reveals fresh green apple peridot, tourmaline in deep sparkly shades of gold, green and brown, fresh water pearls with deep rich luster, and a sprinkling of sky blue aquamarines, green onyx, and red garnets. The gold then becomes intertwined with silver in both a dark and light patina, as if the aging process is happing right before you very eyes. Wild Azaleas and Honeysuckle Dreams

While camping this spring, we were fortunate to see the wild Azaleas blooming. The blossoms spotted the dense green forest with splashes of red and pink color. These azaleas are often called wild honeysuckle because their blossoms resemble the flowers of the honeysuckle vine and they also have the same pungently sweet sent. As a child who grew up in the Deep South, I can remember, on hot humid spring days, the intense sweet smell of the wild honeysuckle. The smell was intoxicating and we always stopped to pick a few blooms off the vine to suck the nectar hoping it would hold our hunger so we would not have to stop playing and have to take time out to eat lunch.

This necklace is made from a combination of fine silver, sterling silver and 14k rolled gold. It has an 8 X 10 mm deep pink, faceted, RUBY briolette drop. The lenth photoed is 20 inches but because I had make all my jewerly it can be altered to any length you desire, free of charge.

Traveling through the pages of the magical stories by Tolkien you may come across the Fangorn forest. A magical forest like the ones found down in the bayou, where cypress trees seem to come to life as they grow out of the swamps. Under these trees are cypress knees that seem to emerge from below like little elves protecting the majestic trees adorned with beautiful silver hair, as the Spanish moss drapes down toward the water.

Hand fabricated with pure copper, sterling silver and 14k gold filled wire, this necklace was inspired by a magical place where the trees almost seem to come to life. This was a place I visited often when I lived in Louisiana for a few years.

I remember reading once that Cleopatra’s favorite color was purple which is fitting since purple is also the color associated with royalty. This necklace was created to showcase the stunning 15mm deep purple amethyst briolette. It is beautifully faceted and is so deep it has a mysterious quality like the infamous Egyptian queen.

The entire necklace is hand forged and wrapped in sterling silver and is accented with two 10mm peridot, three 5mm sapphires, four 2mm green garnet rondelles, three 3mm round amethyst beads and one 3mm peach freshwater pearl.

Gold filled or rolled gold is created by joining a base metal with an outer layer of gold through a process of heat and pressure. The base metal in my wire is brass and the gold is 14 karat. The gold will not chip off and is very durable. This product is advantageous because it keeps down cost without limiting the long-term wear of jewelry.
