As long ago as the time of the Pharaohs in Egypt, images of honey bees have been used as symbols of royalty, divinity, and virtue. Bee lore has permeated almost all cultures and religions around the world, including Christianity, and honey bees have been revered in almost all cases. Personally, I like honey. I am also concerned about the disappearance of this industrious little pollinator worldwide. Many species of plants (many food species included) face difficulty at best without honey bees. Let's hope we can find a solution before they're gone!

The necklace! (I got distracted) This stunning citrine honey bee is enormous (1 inch x 3/4 inch x 5/8 inch) and clean. The carved detail is masterfully done and does not distract from the stone at all. It is wrapped in fine silver and crowned with nicely microfaceted rondelles of black garnet and yellow sapphire, also wrapped on fine silver ball-end headpins. The crown cluster is accompanied by a gorgeous faceted teardrop briolette of black onyx. These lovely honey bee-colored gems dangle about an inch and a quarter from a sterling rolo chain, which closes with a sterling toggle that has a pretty flower detail on both sides waiting to be pollinated ;o). Flamenco time! Well, fiesta time, anyway ;o) These saucy earrings are just so spicy, I may have to make a pair for myself! Wonderful Borosilicate focals from David Escheverry are topped with a palace green opal Swarovski bicone and a foursome of deep red natural(not dyed) coral pieces. [Needless to say, these are limited, as we now know better than to hack up all our reefs for beads and decor.....Anyway, these were harvested before 1920, so you can wear them sans guilt.] A glowing celery-green globe of prehnite sits below the boro bead, bringing out the greens and blues that swirl with the chili-red of the bead.
