This 3 inch angel is made from toothpicks & embroidery floss (look closely at her feet & hands - you can see that they're toothpicks!) She has curly brown hair (embroidery floss), and holds a miniature holly wreath. The holly berries are actually tiny glass microbeads. Her wings are made from Angelina fibers, beautiful gold & silver fibers that bond together when heated into a glistening, stiff fabric. A thin green ribbon loop is her ornament hanger.

I've always loved the Old World St. Nicholas, and this is my version, in toothpicks! Fluffy beard, Christmas Red cloak, and a pointed cap make this St. Nick a classic.

His body is made from toothpicks (look closely at his hands & feet), and his outfit, head, beard & cap are embroidery & needlepoint thread. A miniature white pom-pom adorns the tip of his snug red cap. A thin green ribbon loop is his ornament hanger. He is 3 inches tall.

A Christmas favorite!

Note: Although he is as charming as all princes should be, this Nutcracker will object if you actually try to crack a nut in his mouth. Please refrain.

This 3 inch nutcracker is made of toothpicks, and his outfit is of embroidery & needlepoint threads. His hat is fashioned out of clay, then covered in needlepoint thread. His hair & beard are strands of needlepoint thread that have been split to increase the fluffy value. His ornament hanger is a thin red ribbon.

The Nutcracker's face is made, quite painstakingly, from hand-cut bits of archival-quality cardstock. His teeth are drawn with white paint. His eyebrows are actually single strands of thread, stiffened. The jewel on his hat may be either red or gold, as the individual Nutcracker chooses. If you have a color choice, please see the note at the bottom.

Elf Toothpick Art Doll

How do you achieve that beautiful windswept look, with stray tendrils sweeping gracefully across your forehead? Tacky glue. Worked for this elven girl. Her hair is arranged in a full bun, the remainder trailing down her back. The few wispy pieces that have escaped make for a lovely profile. Handmade flowers keep her bun in place. Her skirt features colorful thread loops and her leather-look bodice is laced at the front over a blouse with ruffles at the neckline & sleeves. Look closely and you can spot the tips of her pointed ears poking through her hair!

Each toothpick doll measures about 2.5 inches (7 cm) tall and can take anywhere from 6 to 15 hours or more to make, depending on the design. Aside from a toothpick skeleton, the entire body & costume are made from thread, including the head. Each doll is an original design, and comes with a glass dome & wooden base for safe display.

Nereida - "Sea Nymph"

This doll is 1 inch (2.5 cm) tall. She is made from embroidery floss & wire.

Her underwater home is a custom-built shadow box built into a beautiful antiqued gold frame that she chose herself. (Never presume to make a lady's choices for her, no matter her size.) Mirrors surround her, sending her reflection dancing around her.

Frame measures 7.5 x 7.5 inches (19 x 19 cm). The piece is 5 inches (12.5 cm) deep (from front of frame to back of shadow box stand.

Her shadow box is removable from the frame. She will be shipped securely with shipping insurance included.

THE MAKING OF PENNY PEOPLE
Nereida is made entirely from embroidery floss and (very thin) wire. Her sparkling sea-green tail & body are covered in a mixture of two varying tones of micro-fine green glitter. I wrap the thread into a tiny ball for the head, leaving a tail that I glue to the torso (to become her neck & spinal column). Her long curly blond hair (highlighted by the sun, of course!) blows gently around her face. Crested waves actually spill out of the frame.

The sun has an idealized, "jeweled" look with the use of copper, bronze and gold microbeads. The sea foam caps cresting at the top of each wave and cascading down the rock throne are clear microbeads. Her fins are made out of Fantasy Film, and wired to keep their shape.

Nereida is so tiny, yet packed with so many details, you will be grateful for the mirrors, which are perfectly placed to allow you to see all sides of her. On her white rock throne, Nereida does not mind attention, so stare lots!

Penny People are one-inch dolls that typically stand on a shiny penny. Some, such as this sea nymph, insist on a larger piece of real estate. Due to her 1-inch size, however, she still considers herself to belong to the ilk of Penny People.

Her cap is actually the very tip of a toothpick, covered in single strands of thread, with black & white twisted thread for detail. She stands on a wooden base with a black & white diamond pattern.

She is so tiny, yet packed with so many details, you will be grateful for the mirrors, which are perfectly placed to allow you to see all sides of her. This miniature prima donna does not mind attention, so stare lots!

Elana is made from toothpicks and embroidery floss.

She wears a gold tunic over a russet skirt & cream chemise. Her apron is made of 3 overlapping leaves crafted from embroidery floss. Pointed elf ears peek out from behind her long auburn hair. The top of her hair is one of my favorite things about her - it's designed in a full-crown braid that covers the top & back of her head, ending in a large bun encircled by more braids.
