Egyptian inspired earrings adding that exotic touch to even a pair of jeans. These lovely copper earrings are each created individually from 18, 16 and 14 gauge copper along with 18 gauge sterling silver for the ear hooks.

The high finish is acheived by filing, sanding, using steelwool and then tumbling of this very versitile metal. I love using copper in my work!

In the Middle Ages all books were hand-written original works of art. These “illuminated” manuscripts were so called because of their frequent incorporation of gold or sometimes silver leaf onto the page. Illumination comes from the Latin word illuminare, meaning “light up,” and when one sees one of these brilliant manuscripts in person, the term makes sense.

I am using different beads to create this illuminated effect on these special brooches.
Wool felt, dry felt embellishing technique, floss and beads come together creating a one-of-a-kind piece of personal art to be attached or framed.

Pictures taken of the signage and memorabilia throughout the building to create a one of a kind alphabet for display or sending to that special Burg person.

I had tons of fun going through this gorgeous structure searching and creating different letter combinations for the postcard.

***History on the Building:
The New York and Pennsylvania Co. saw a need for a cultural, social and fitness community house for the town of Johnsonburg, It was based on the nouveau style of like buildings in New York City also, utilizing the most up to date equipment and materials of the time. So…..On October 14th, 1920 at 1:30pm the Community Building opened it’s doors to 4, 331 visitors during the course of the day. Attendants wearing white ribbons greeted visitors by opening the door saying, “Look what we have for you”. Craftsman style furniture was used throughout the building as well as oak trim on the 1st floor, walnut on the 2nd and chestnut on the 3rd.The four story brick and concrete structure was designed by architect Frank Orner of Ridgway. James Dollard supervised the construction for the Hyde Murphy Company, the general contractor. The face of the building is being laid in tapestry brick the style known as Flemish bond.

I have held onto this retro large linked chain forever. The chain is coated with a brown enamel for added earthiness. The chain does have some imperfections but, that does not take away from the overall design.

I finished it off with one of my Swirl and Hook closures w/ also some extra links to customize the size from 16" to 18".

My Woodsman Pendant combined with the retro chain looks great together. The sides of the face look almost carved and then an acrylic medium is added to frame him in.

A rose is such a beautiful thing!
I have been collecting in my garden in all forms for years such as Englentines and Rugosas. All are very personal to me in many forms.

Here you find one created in a special brooch using 3 differently made felts, two machine made and the other cut from a washed/felted pink wool vest for the wrapped rose.
The entire pin is hand sewn with fabritac sandwiching the 3 layers of felt on the leaf and then sewn with a button hole stitch.

A solidly secured safty pin is attached for wearability.

This is a layered affair with antique and vintage buttons/mother of pearl sequins used to embellish.

I only made one of this type and eventually more will come to be. This heather blue/green rather thick felt is so fun to work with and allow almost a sculpturing effect to the pin.

It is a little over 2" long with a safety pin very securely sewn on the back.
