Sunflowers grow quite tall, and I am, well, quite short. So, it is a challenge for me to get a shot that is pleasing to me. Schartner Farms, in South County, RI., grows rows and rows upon rows of flowers, sunflowers included. Some of them were ridiculously tall. They were out of my reach, but this one, grow to just the right height for me to say, 'cheese!'

Lovingly replanted when we moved from the Cook House (circa 1905) to our new home. Mrs. Cook was a master gardener and the garden was going to be demolished by the new construction. I replanted these bulbs when we moved into our home 4 summers ago. They didn't 'appear' for a couple of years, but when they decided to make their presence known, well, taaa daaa!

My neighbor, Carole, is an amazing gardener. She has made some wonderful suggestions for our garden and I have learned quite a bit from her over the past couple of years. The photo of this Zinnia is taken from underneath, with the sky as the background. You can still see the morning dew through the transparency of the delicate petals. I love the left bottom corner of the photo, where you can see the little curls from the top of another of the group!

Outdoor space, when living in New York City is a gift. My cousin lives on the 19th floor in an apartment with a sizable balcony. People have taken beautiful photos of the great views she has, so, I wanted something different. I looked down and there was this brick red church, tucked away between a school and another building. I have been eying these cows all Summer. There is a 'corn stand' on the property of this farm in W. Kingston, RI, on the way to the beach, and the cows are always out there in the field, grazing. I asked Todd, who was manning the stand, if I could take some shots of the cows...and, ta da!!! Each one so different...very pleased!

Isn't is a wonder, when you can step outside, into your own garden and continually find treasures, daily reminders of the seasons of life. I was outside watering some of the lilies by the side of the house, and this dragonfly was hopping from lily top to lily top. I raced inside to get my camera, hoping not to miss the moment, and sure enough, with what seems to be a big smile, camera ready, this dragonfly stayed long enough for me to get this one good picture. He/she was a happy dragonfly, and I was a happy 'Lilley'!
