Vintage Swiss brass dog goat bell Lucerne Switzerland

$5.00
This is a small brass bell marked Lucerne. It is in good condition and is about 2 1/2" high by 2 1/2" wide. It is too small to be a cow bell, but probably about the right size for a small goat or a dog. This may have been a souvenir from some vacation. It has a steel ringer, and makes a nice clear sound.

$12.00
This is the tall size coffee mug from Otagiri. Many of their mugs were made in two sizes, and this is the grande size. It holds nearly 2 cups or 16 ounces of coffee, and it keeps the coffee warm longer because of the dense stoneware pottery. This is a quality mug, and will be very durable for many more years.

The size is 4 7/8" high and 3" in diameter. The condition is very good. The biplanes in flight are only on the front side of the mug.

It is 7 1/2" square and the condition is good. It does have a few light discolorations which would probably come out with a spot touch up with bleach and water. This would make a pretty centerpiece for a hand made pillow, or some other project.

It is in good condition, and looks lovely with white roses from the garden. It has no chips, cracks, or nicks. The color is a warm gray, rather than a cool gray, and the pottery is thick and heavy.

It was wheel thrown and slip decorated with two cobalt lines on the circumference. I like the simplicity of the piece, and it would be great for a country kitchen. The size is about 3 3/4" high by about 4" in diameter. It would work well for cream or for milk for the morning cereal.

Vintage single size western rodeo cowboy bedspread new unused washable

$58.00
This is a vintage bedspread or coverlet from the 1960s to 1970s. It is still in it's original plastic package. I removed it to take the photos, and repackaged it. I believe there was a Cannon label on the bedspread. The attached tag gives the size as a single, and the measurements as 78" by 108". It is however photographed on a queen sized bed. The fabric content is 60% rayon and 40% polyester. It is described as washable. There is an original $5.99 price tag on the bedspread. I believe this is from the 1960s because it had been stored with other unused items that were from the 60's, however, it could be a 1970s vintage. There are no dates on any of the packaging.

The condition is absolutely just as new. It has been stored away in a dry and clean area, and there are no musty smells, that I can detect. The spread looks just like new. This is a single layer bedspread of a heavier canvas type weave. It is a fun bedroom decor item for the big or little cowpoke or cowgirl in the family.

It is one of their mugs manufactured in W. Germany, so it is pre-1989. This mug has no chips or nicks at all, so it appears perfect.

The size is 3 3/4" high by 3 1/4" in diameter.
Vintage Swiss chalet music box Holiday in Switzerland

$10.00
This little wooden music box is in good condition, but does have a few age related problems. There are a few rocks missing from the roof, and the roof has a partial split on the spine, as well as some wear on the wood and white siding. There may be a piece missing on the center balcony on the second floor. There is a bit of glue residue between the windows. The Swiss Cuendet movement plays well, and the key mechanism seems to work just fine. The bottom label has the words "Holiday in Switzerland", so I assume that it the name of the music this little house plays.

The size of the box is 5 1/4" by 3 3/4" and about 3 1/2" high, so it is a small box. The box interior has a small space for trinkets.

This set of lidded sugar bowl and cream pitcher is in excellent condition, and I don't find any condition problems at all. The size of the creamer is about 4" high and 3 3/8" in diameter, and the sugar bowl is about 3 1/2" high and 5" in diameter. The set has a nice mid-century look.

They are quite heavy cast iron and weigh over 1/2 pound each. They look to be sand-cast because the texture is very pebbly. They are marked only with a number 2.

I have checked with several cast iron specialists, and they do not recognize any specific maker or manufacturer. The casting is not sharp, as it would be with the more desirable cast iron collectibles. They are still very decorative, and I do not think these are very recent imports. There is a little bit of rust oxidation on the surface.

This is a slab built circular dish that can be hung on the wall as a plaque. The owl figure is modeled into the clay with various textures. This slightly concave dish is in good condition, but has a small flake chip on the back side of the rim. The size is 6 1/4" in diameter. The pottery is not stoneware, and the piece looks like it was fired in a primitive kiln. The glaze is a nice semi-matte with iron oxide stained clay eyes.

They have never been worn and have been in storage for at least 40 years. I believe they are from the 1960s, and were probably originally purchased at a Woolworths, or similar type of store. The soft blue vinyl slipper case has a metal zipper opening, which works smoothly and perfectly. The case has the original sticker on the underside with the original $1.99 price. The two open-back slippers also have the original stickers. They are lightly foam padded, and are 9 1/2" long and 3" wide. The slippers have a satin lining on the vinyl, which is slightly stretchy. The case with the enclosed slippers is 9 3/4" long and 3 1/2" wide by 1" thick, so they take up very little room in a suitcase or carry-on bag. They are also very light in weight.

It has slight wear to the covers and the original FAO Schwarz price sticker on the back. This book has been signed on the title page by the author. I am assuming this is a real autograph, because I have two others in the series from the same time, and they do not have this autograph. Castle is a Caldecott Honor Book. There are 80 pages with black and white ink drawing illustrations.

$9.00
Marked down by 50%!
This is a third edition of this 1898 book. It is dated 1905 by Charles Scribner's Sons, and is in very good vintage condition. The full title of the book is What is Good Music? Suggestions to Persons Desiring to Cultivate a Taste In Musical Art. The author is W. J. Henderson, who also wrote The Story of Music. To see the contents of the book, I believe it is available online for download.

The size of the book is about 7 1/4" by 5", and it has 205 pages including the index. The original price was $1.00 in 1905. This is a clean book for being over 100 years old. The pages are tight and unmarked. There are just a few surface scuffs and wear on the cloth hard cover.

It is 9 1/4" high and 2 1/2" in diameter. The eyes are small green rhinestones, and the pottery is a combination of glazed and unglazed stained brown finishes. The vase is marked on the underside, and was made in Japan. This vase would be great for displaying a single orchid, or other bloom.

She is in extra clean condition, but does have a bit of cheek rub on both sides. Her eyes and hair grow mechanism work. Her lined orange lace mini dress and panties are original, although the panties are stretched at the waist and held on with a safety pin. The dress has two snaps in the back. The orange velvet ribbon needs to be ironed, and her hair could use a bit of styling. The hair grows to the thighs, when the back knob is turned.

It was originally made for someone named Eleanor, so it has her name on the side. The cup is in excellent condition and it was very well painted in soft pastel colors. The painting is a bit different on the front and the back sides of the cup. The size is about 4 1/4" high and 3" in diameter.

They have been used, and I had to wash out the salt and pepper, but they are in excellent condition. The brown colored pepper shaker is a speckled matte tan, and the aqua salt shaker has a glossier glaze with very light tiny speckles. Both of them have the original marked Metlox rubber stoppers, which are still soft and uncracked. The shakers are 5" high and 1 3/4" in diameter at the base.

The Metlox Navajo pattern was produced from 1956.

It is in wonderful condition and does not show any wear. Of course, it has no chips, nicks, cracks or discolorations either. The size is 4" high and 3 3/8" in diameter. The mug is made of a dense, smooth stoneware, and has a handle that is deep enough for four fingers. The mug holds about 1 1/2 cups of coffee. The applied white unicorn has a slightly dimensional textured quality.

2 vintage brilliant feather art pictures of birds from Mexico

They are in good condition, although the glass on one of the pictures has a scratch on the upper part near the bird's head. The wood frames are a bit banged and bumped. The flowered background on these pictures has been painted by hand, and the feathered birds are hand assembled by folk art Mexican craftsmen. I am not sure of the age on these, but my guess is that they are later vintage and after the 1950s. The backs are matboard that have been taped at the edges, and they do not have the usual story of the feather art attached.

These tropical folk art birds are great to brighten up a Southwestern decor home.

Please convo on shipping costs, if you would like to see if there is a lower shipping rate. The shipping posted is to ship from California to the east coast at a shipping weight of a bit over 4 pounds. They are too long to ship in a flat rate box.

It is tagged with the American Greetings tag and also the fabric content label. The condition is good, with a storage discoloration on the lower hem. This should wash out. I have not cleaned the apron, as I believe it has just been stored, and never laundered.

The fabric is a 50/50 cotton/poly blend, and the apron would be a small to medium size, and approximately 23" across at the waistband, not including the ties. The neck tie is adjustable with two rings.

The binder is well made, and has is marked K and M Company and Kingsbacher Murphy Company, Torrance, California. I don't think it has been used, and it has been in storage for over 25 years. The storage has caused a slight ripple along the edge on the front. There is also a small ink stain on the back side. Otherwise it is in excellent condition with no splits or other problems in the vinyl. I would estimate the vintage to be late 1970s to mid- 1980s. I also have several others with different slogans but similar graphics.

This is a full size binder and the dimensions are 11 1/2" by 10" by 1 1/2". The little girl looks a bit like Holly Hobby, but I think she is just a look alike, with a shorter dress.

They are heavy stoneware pottery, made to last, and are very good quality. The two mugs are in like new condition.

These are the tall "Grande" mugs, and each one holds about 1 -2/3 cups of coffee. They are close to 5" high and 3" in diameter. The stoneware keeps the coffee warm for longer than just regular pottery. This pair of mugs will last for decades, with just a bit of care.

Vintage metal tole cottage daisy lamp

$36.00
I saw a similar lamp on another site for over $120, but you can get it here for a fraction of that cost. This one also has a base that lights up as a night light, so more bang for the buck.

This lamp is from the 1960s or 1970s, and would be perfect for a cottage, shabby chic style, or girl's room. I had planned to re-cover a lamp shade with some fabric and daisy trim I have, but I have too many projects, so someone else will benefit from this cute lamp. I will be shipping it without the shade, but the harp is included, so you can use with a traditional shade, or any clip on shade, such as the one pictured in my photo.

The lamp is about 17", not including the bulb or the lamp harp, which would add another 5 to 10" in height. The metal daisies are attached firmly to the center stem. There are three leaves and two daisies. The lamp is made of both turned wood and metal parts, which are a bit chippy and distressed. They can easily be repainted if you want the lamp to look new, or left as is for the more shabby cottage look. I don't see any markings on the lamp.

The bottom is covered halfway with a felt type of fabric, but there is an opening to change the small night light bulb that clips into place on the interior. I didn't have a night light bulb to try it out, but the regular bulb works fine. The twist switch has two clicks, one for the regular light, and the other for the night light, which shines through the white area near the base.

It is decorated Asian style with just a band of rusty orange flowers around the side. The vase is in great vintage condition without any chips, cracks, or condition issues. I believe it is a light colored stoneware pottery, and probably was made in Japan, although there are no markings, and the original sticker has been lost. The size is 3 1/2" high and 4 1/4" in diameter. The teapot and owls in the photos are not for sale, and are not included in the purchase.

It is small in size and has an indentation, so probably it was designed originally as an ashtray. It is 6" in diameter. A very helpful Etsy buyer has recently informed me that the signature is Sydenstriker, a Cape Cod glass studio started in the 1960s. I would like to thank her for passing on the information.

The glass has a fused flower sunburst type of design, and the back is textured from a slump type of mold, except for the small indented area. The signature is etched in to the glass underside on the rim, and is so small that it could very easily be overlooked. The signature is only 1.5 cm long, by about 3 mm wide.

It is tiny and would not hold more than two rings, but what a wonderful gift box it would be. The size is 3" long by 2 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" high, however the interior is a bit smaller, by 1/2" each way. The box is wood, and painted with wonderful woodland scenes with deer. There is a gold trim around each bush and shrub, painted with such delicacy. The bottom of the box is signed "Hand Made in Kashmir".

The condition is good with a bit of wear to the interior lid and rim paint.

This vintage Prince Matchabelli Windsong box held dusting powder in its prior life, but it works well to contain and display these natural bone color buttons. I don't know if the buttons are plastic faux bone, or real, or made of some other material, but I think they are vintage, and would be great for crafts. This little clear geometric box with lid holds at least a couple hundred or more 1/2" and smaller buttons. The box itself is about 4" in diameter and 2" high.

Pair him with a simple midcentury vase for a retro look on a coffee table or side table, or display him with others of his kind. He is originally from Coos Bay, Oregon and the House of Myrtlewood.

This is a lovely shabby chic French style powder or vanity box. The lid on the box has a couple of dents on the convex tin insert. The small dent on the tip near the flowers on the lady's hat actually dents the brass lid edging the tin. The other dent, which is larger, is on the shoulder area to the left of the lady's bosom. These are fairly significant dents, but are hard to see in the photos. The brass powder box is heavy and has classic symbols around the edge. The interior of the box has a padded and worn velvet lining.

The size of the box is 4 1/2" in diameter and 1 1/4" high. The buttons are vintage I believe, and most are an off-white bone type of material. Most are 1/2" in size or smaller. I don't know for a fact that they are bone, but they are not uniform in size and thickness, so I don't believe they are new and factory produced. I don't know how many are in this box, but several hundred.

Sadly, the bowls were not included in this rescue from a vintage travel trailer. The set is in wonderful condition, and looks barely used. The finish is shiny bright and unstained. There is a bit of storage wear, and only a hint of utensil marks. To keep the condition looking good, these should never be put into a dishwasher for cleaning.

The plates are about 10 1/8" in diameter and have a 1" edge with indented center area. The pieces are all marked Prolon Ware, Florence, Mass. And some are also marked Melmac. These are heavy, beefy pieces, not your average melamine. The colors would reflect the vintage as being 1950s to early 1960s.

It is about 8" in diameter and 3 1/2" deep. It comes with the lid. Both pieces have some minor enamel chips and surface marks from use. The only larger chipped area is on the interior lid edge where there are three areas about 1" long and 1/8" wide. The interior has just a bit of utensil wear. The enameled exterior surface does not show much of any wear or loss of paint.

This little folk art style pot will add a lot of style to the country kitchen, and it still has a lot of life and use left. It would be fantastic to fill it with goodies to give as a gift container.

I believe the wood is teak, and it has a brown suede leather jacket. The condition is good. The cup comes with a full dozen vintage lead pencils in the original box. These are number 704 indelible blue thin lead pencils. They do not have erasers. The cup is approximately 4" high by 2 1/2" in diameter, and in good condition. The pencils are unused and in are in excellent condition, as is the box.

It is approximately 45" long by 14" wide. The runner is completely hand sewn, with no machine stitching that I can see. The color is a natural linen color with creamy off-white hand-crochet lace trim on each end. The runner is in excellent condition with no holes or stains. I have soaked and hand-washed it to remove any storage smells or dust. It has been pressed, so it will come to you clean. I believe the fabric is cotton, but I am not entirely certain. You can use this runner as is, or re-purpose it for a project.

Sorry, but the pot is not available for sale.
One side has oxidized, and is darker, with just a hint of a bluish patina. The other side is a more shiny brass color. The letter opener must have been laying on someone's desk flat for many years. I don't know the age, but would guess it would be 1970s, when unicorns were very popular. The size is about 8 1/2" long. The sides of the blade are tapered, but not very sharp, nor is the slightly rounded tip.

It has the ring marks reminiscent of a hand-thrown pottery piece, yet it has mold marks. I believe the fish were applied and hand painted after the piece was made in a mold.

The size is about 5" high and 4" in diameter. The condition is very good, and there are no chips, cracks, or nicks. The pottery has the look and feel of stoneware.

It is in great condition with only the tiniest wear along the edge and a couple of barely noticeable paint flaws. This wood board has a rawhide tie loop for hanging it on a wall, and it would add a nice retro touch to a modern kitchen. I would not use the decorative front for a cutting board, or for hot pans, but one could use the back side. So far it has not been used, only displayed.

The size is 14" long and 6 1/2" in width. The wood looks like it may be maple or a similar hard wood, and is somewhat heavy. The Norleans sticker on the back is from Taiwan. Add a box of crackers and couple of small cheeses, and have an instant holiday hostess gift.

It can be repurposed for so many different things, and it so beautiful it deserves to have a second life. Can you imagine how many hours were put into the making of this originally?

Each one is just over 16" long and 4 3/4" wide. It is dated 1950, and is 7" by 10" in size. There are approximately 80 pages with photos. There are no tears, soil, markings, or unusual wear. One corner is a bit bumped. This would be a fantastic reference book for the person who loves traditional furniture. Every page has sepia tone photographs of the furniture and accessories offered by this company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The furniture and cabinetry pieces were not mass produced, and they were made in America of native woods, such as cherry, maple, and walnut. Each photo is accompanied by a description along with the original price.

There are many pages of photos of small and large accessories, such as lamps, stools, planters, bowls, and figurines. For lovers of milk glass, there are many pieces included, as well as a whole page of rare doll house miniatures which were exact copies of early 20th century salesman's samples. Just this page alone would be a great resource for the collector of doll
house miniatures.

This is a rare furniture catalog in wonderful condition, and would make a great gift for the lover of the traditional home. No mid-century modern in this one!

Vintage Gladmark wood meat platter carving board serving tray midcentury

$18.00
This mid-century roast serving platter is in good vintage condition. It is from the 1950s - 1960s, and has the painters palette Gladmark Sun Valley California symbol on the back. It shows wear to the surface finish, and has one slight wood split at the point where the wood was laminated to form the slab. This narrow split is about 2" long. With a coat of food grade wood conditioner, this platter would shine and look beautiful. I have not added any conditioner or wax, only cleaned off the surface soil for these photos.

The size of this platter is 16" long and 11 1/2" wide, and is a nice size for serving that holiday ham, roast chicken or beef roast. It might not be large enough for a large bird, but this is a great size piece for storing and for many uses.

The surface of this tray is in good condition, and I only see one shallow cut mark on the edge. There are just a few very light surface utensil marks. The tray is about 3/8" deep to collect all the juices from the meat.

If you purchase and would like the wood conditioned before shipping, I can do that. Some people prefer the natural look, so I have left the wood as is, but with the conditioning, the wear will blend nicely and the wood will look richer.

It is A Treasury of American Prints, edited by Thomas Craven. There are a few discolored spots on the paper covered hard cover, and just a bit of wear to the spine binding, but there are no marks, tears, discolorations or other problems with any of the 100 prints contained within the book. Everything is spiral bound, so the book stays open to the print displayed.

These are wonderful black and white prints, printed on a creamy paper. The pages are 12 3/4" by 9 3/4" and each print is perfect for framing. You could have an instant art wall, and change the display each week for a different look. Each artist is represented by 1 - 6 prints, and some of the best early 20th century American artists are included, such as Thomas Hart Benton, Grant Wood, Edward Hopper, John Marin, Reginald Marsh, and many more. Each print contains a bit of information about the artist on the reverse side of the print.

The book is suitable for a coffee table display, or would also be a great reference for the aspiring artist.

The size is 6 1/2" by 8 1/2", and the condition is very good. The back has a bit of deterioration of the paper backing around the edge of the frame. I believe the silhouette picture is printed, rather than cut out before being framed under the glass, but it is difficult to see the exact method. The white on ivory white makes this quite modern in appearance. The black wood frame has just a hint of an incised gold line. There is an old twisted wire on the back for hanging.

I am including a matching piece that I assume is a paperweight.

The creamer is in nice condition and has no chips or nicks or paint flakes anyplace that I can see. It is 4 1/4" high and about 3" across the base. The paperweight is slightly smaller, and also in very nice nearly mint condition. Both are marked Otagiri, and have their original gold foil stickers on the underside. They are not dated, but I believe they are from the later 1970s to mid 1980s.

It commemorates the founding of San Diego by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo in 1542. The plate features many of the local San Diego historical points of interest. The palm tree is a nice touch.

This plate is 10 1/2" in diameter and is in great condition with no chips, nicks, cracks, or wear to the surface. This type of wall decor was used in the bathroom during the 1950s. These plaques have embedded wire hangers, and are 6 3/4" long and 3 1/2" wide. One of the plaques has a little damage to the plaster at the upper tip. The second plaque has slight paint wear to the surface. It appears that they were painted overall with the green and yellow color, and the white coat was painted on just the flat surface, revealing the brighter colors underneath. The green and yellow have a slight iridescence.

It was originally one of a pair, but the matching one was damaged. He has the original Lefton red sticker on the back with the #382. The condition is good with one pinpoint size white spot on the log end. The plaque size is 7" high by 3 3/4" wide. This looks cute as a single, or he would make a good replacement for a similar broken or damaged wall plaque.

It was purchased at an estate sale, and is an older piece. It has mold lines on the side, and is in good condition with the exception of a flake chip and a few fleabite nicks right around the base edge. The shape is a pretty tulip shape, slightly flared at the top. The size is 2 1/2" high and 2" in diameter, so it is tiny.

2 Vintage basic reader books Fun with John and Jean 1952 Catholic school

$19.00
This is a set of two primary school reading books from the early 1950s. They are from a Catholic School Curriculum, and were published by Scott, Foresman and Company. They are basically very similar to the Dick and Jane books that were used in public schools, and in fact, the title page on Fun With John and Jean reads that it is a revision of the new Fun With Dick and Jane.

The green 1952 hard cover cloth bound Fun with John and Jean book has 160 pages and is in good condition. The only problem I see is there are just a couple or three pages with stray pencil marks, and the vocabulary words in the back have been crossed off with pencil marks. There are no torn, bent, missing or soiled pages. The book cover and page ends have some normal wear and slight discolorations. There are no school imprints or names written inside the book.

The second book from 1951 was published by Ginn and Co., and is in fair condition with several pages that have tears or missing corners or parts. Some pages look a bit wrinkled, or have bent corners. I do not see any missing or marked pages.

These books are heavily illustrated for the beginning reader. Unlike the public school version, these books also have religious references and images. Both books show in word and text a heavy emphasis on family and traditional values, and have just as much relevance today, as when originally written.

The size is 6" long by 3 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" deep. The condition is good, with no scratches, surface wear, or signs of use. The lid does have a flake chip under the rim edge. It is not sharp and not visible, except under close inspection. The rooster Amish design is on the two ends, but not the sides. This covered dish is just right for a small meatloaf or casserole recipe for one or two people.

It is marked on the underside and dated 1988, although it seems like yesterday that these were so popular. The mug is 3 7/8" high and 3 1/2" in diameter. It has a colorful array of cats all around the side, each trimmed in gold. There is a Laurel Burch signature on the lower front next to the handle. It is in great condition, and I would guess it is 50 - 75 years or older in age. It is marked A.H.T. Co, PhilaPA USA. It also has a yellow crayon "A" mark on one end, so it was probably actually a working test tube stand in a laboratory at one time. The stand holds 12 test tubes, and the size is 10 1/2" long by 4 1/2" wide and 7" high. The wood is utilitarian in nature, and the construction is sturdy with no flaws that I can see. The two shelves are inset into the end pieces and securely glued. I did a quick wipe down to remove lots of built up dust and grime.

I am not sure if it is called a trivet, since the only purpose is as an iron rest. The trivet has some loss of the original surface coating, and therefore has some oxidized areas over a good part of the top surface. The size is 4 1/4" wide and 5 3/4" long. It is marked Royal on the top surface, and is decorated with a cut out crown and a few incised scrolls on the surface. There is a slight lip on the two sides to keep the iron from slipping off. There is also three peg feet on the underside to raise the iron off the surface.

This was purchased at an estate sale, and I don't know the age.

I don't know the age, but I believe it is pre-1960. The box has some dust on the top, and some wear to the edges, with minor scuffs and patina. The interior fuzzy red lining has a piece missing and also shows wear. The mirror is in good condition and there are no chips or splits in the wood. The brass hinges and front closure work well. There appears to be a very slight gap on the right side where the top and bottom meet, but it is slight, and not really distracting. The decorative closure on the front has some etched decorative detail. I don't know what the wood is, but the bottom panel looks like it could be mahogany.

The size is about 9 3/8" long, 4 1/4" wide, and 5" high. The back and the two sides are not carved.

The harvest gold color is probably an indication that the set is from the 1970s. The lids are a paler shade of buttery yellow, and are decorated with mushrooms and toadstools. This set of four containers does nest inside of one another for easier shipping. The plastic is fairly heavy, and the containers with lids is just a fraction of an ounce less than 3 pounds.

This is a clean set in nice condition. It has been used, but well cared for, so any wear to the surface is very light, and I do not see anything other than very slight surface scratches, and no loss of color or paint on the graphics. The tallest container is about 9 3/4" high and 6 1/2" in diameter. It looks like it would hold a small sack of flour.

It is a small bowl about 6" in diameter and 3 1/2" high. It is in great condition and has no chips or cracks. There is just a bit of roughness at the handle hole area, and that might be from the carving process. The bowl is all hand carved and has a wonderful simple sculptural appearance. The original sticker is on the bottom still. This bowl was made in Thailand, but is Danish Modern is style.

The condition is very good with just a bit of black showing through on the stem, and a few other pin head size spots, plus a few minor scuffs. This may be from the 1970s. There is an Encino sticker on the underside, which states it is a Nasco product, Made in Japan, but it is not dated.

There is some foxing/spotting on the covers front and back, and a bit on the interior tabs. The recipes are short and simple and some are unusual, such as Danish King, Ham Mousse, Nassi Goreng, Chicken Macedoine, and Apricot Chantilly. There are 140 pages, including a weights and measures table. The total size is 3 7/8" by 5" (10 cm x 13 cm).

This is a great little book for kitchen display, and it lays flat to your recipe with its spiral type binding.

I am not quite sure of the length since one side of the trim has a stretch insert, which allows it to be used to in curved designs easily, such as edging for lampshades, or circular shapes. The slight stretchiness makes it more difficult to measure easily. It does not seem to have much of a ruffle to the non-stretchy edge, and would lay flat if both sides were stitched down.

The trim is 7/8" in width, and has a yellow and a khaki zig zag thread in the middle and a gold metallic thread that runs in five horizontal seams through the length. The trim has been cut, so there is a short bit of yardage near one end, fastened with a staple. This edging trim appears to be clean and I don't see any discolorations or stains.

There are approximately 314 cards, each numbered, and several empty cards. Each plastic card is approximately 1 1/2" by 1 5/8" in size. The storage box is 11" long by 6 1/2" wide. The lid is a bit tweaked on one end, so it does not lay completely flat. The box with all the embroidery weighs in a 1 pound 15.4 ounces, so it is just 3/4 of an ounce shy of two pounds in weight.

This is a bonanza for the embroidery craftsperson who loves to work in many colors.

I believe it was made by Otagiri, but it is not marked. It is a quality mug made of a dense white stoneware, so it will be durable and chip resistant for many more years. The cup surface is a semi-matte black with a little cameo picture of a stipey tabby cat in a shiny glaze. The kitty picture is on the mug front only.

The mug is in excellent condition and has no surface wear, nicks, chips, or other flaws. The size is about 7" across and 6 1/2" high. the sides curve up slightly. I can think of many uses for this little gold colored dish. It is probably 1940s - 1950s vintage.

It is marked "Sunday" at the top, and the bottom edge reads, "It's pleasant to labor for those we love". The trivet is in good condition, and I have cleaned it slightly to remove surface soil, so it does have a newly shined surface. The trivet might originally have had little rubber stoppers on the ends of the three peg feet, but they are no longer there. The size is 6 1/2" in diameter. This is such a nice kitchen table serving piece for family dinners and get-togethers. It would make a nice gift.

I have used it to hold candy, but it could also be used to float a brilliant red camellia blossom. The size is 4" high and 6 1/2" in diameter. The clear glass has been painted on the underside of the rim, and finished with gold gilding on the upper side of the glass, on the rim and also at the edge of the pedestal foot. The gilding is quite worn in spots, showing the age. The glass is fairly heavy for a smaller piece, and it weighs over one pound.

I think they were called topsy turvy dolls. This one is in good condition. I did soak the skirt a bit to remove a discoloration, but did not launder the doll. There may be just the slightest remnant of a tannish spot on the lighter skirt side.

The doll is about 13" in size and it appears that it was sewn by hand and also by machine. The face on the black doll is embroidered by hand. The yarn was applied to the heads by hand. The doll has a white character end and a black character end. The white doll face is painted and has a clear plastic covering for some reason, perhaps to keep it clean?

The black doll has a striking appearance with the beautiful red, green, and brown tropical foliage fabric. Her skirt is very full, and she will display beautifully.

The size is about 40" long and 84" wide. There is a wide bias backing at the hem, and a heavy 3" curtain tape at the top edge, both easily removed. The style reminds me of an updated J. J. Rousseau painting.

How fun this would be for a coverlet or pillows, diaper bag, or use your imagination.

I believe it is a first edition. The book is in good condition with a bit of wear and tear on the paper dust jacket. The book has some charming line illustrations throughout the 112 pages, and an index with such titles as castration, fish-ball biscuits, crooked tail, crossed eyes, constipation, fear of cats, scungilli, smell as guide, and other fascinating topics.

This is an interesting coming of age autobiography from the point of view of a cat living with a bachelor master.

From a bit of internet research, it sounds like the tiles change each year, so a new set of rules also came out to go with the new tile set.

I am even more confused now on how to play that game, but perhaps someone has a 1958 or 1959 set of Mah Jong, and needs the instruction booklet to play the game. This one is in good condition with a slight paper loss on the lower front cover, and has 26 pages. It is the 18th revised edition by Dorothy S. Meyerson.

It has been in storage with other items, and I believe it is from the 1970s. The cover is textured green and white vinyl with smooth dark green interior and back. The cover has a heavily textured illustration with great detail, down to the band-aid on the boy's knee. The binder is a regular full size binder that is 11 5/8" long by 10" wide by 1 1/2" in depth. It was made by Kingsbacher Murphy Company of Torrance, California. This binder uses regular lined notebook paper. The vinyl on the back has a very slight discoloration near the center, but this is slight, and the binder looks almost new.

I also have an identical binder in blue, if you prefer. Just convo me.

They were probably made by a child in the 1940's or earlier, judging by the tulip print fabric on the smaller doll's bodice. The dolls were sewn by hand and stuffed with cotton. The doll with orange yarn hair, also has hair drawn on the head with pencil or faded ink, and the faces are embroidered. The fabric has aged and has overall tan colored discoloration. This pair is just too sweet, and the innocent charm can't be replicated or captured by a manufactured reproduction.

The larger doll is about 12 1/2" and the shorter one is 9" long.

The colors are mellow, not quite pastel, and would be nice in a desert or southwest decorating theme. The image is a quail bird poking out from a thicket of foliage and flowers. The size of the pillow is 13" in diameter, and there is no zipper closure. The fabric is a soft pumpkin color velveteen that compliments the needlework colors. The pillow is in good vintage condition, and I only see one slight discoloration, which might be easily be removed with a damp cloth. There are a few missing or missed stitches right near one edge.

This listing is for 2 yards, but a have a few more yards, if you need more (or less) you can convo so I can change the listing.

This trim is 1 1/2" wide, and is a heavy woven fabric. I don't know the fabric content, but it has a shine, so perhaps silk, rayon, nylon, or other synthetic. It is wrapped around an old wood cigar box end. I would call the design art deco, but it would be useful for a number of art or sewing projects. This trim is in good, clean, and unused condition.

The pillowcases were found at an estate in Indiana on my recent road trip. They were discolored from years of storage, so I soaked them in a brightening bath for a few days, before hand washing and pressing them. They will come to you clean. The color is now a creamy white with no visible discolorations or stains. These cases are 100% cotton, and nicely embroidered by hand many years ago. They are not recent imports are reproductions. The flowers are a bright sunshine yellow and gold, and the lightly scalloped trim has been crocheted in yellow and white. These pillowcases will bring some sunshine cottage charm into your bedroom.

It does not have a flat bottom, so it must be hung on the wall. The size is 4 1/2" high by 5" long.

The condition is generally good, however there is a chip on the underside of the horse's forelock on the head. This chip has been painted with matching paint, so it is not very noticeable. This is a wonderful whimsical piece that is quite decorative and a great container for many uses. This would be so cute as a toothbrush holder on a wall in a tiny bathroom.

The frame is made of wood and has been gold-leafed and distressed to promote the antique appearance. The pottery circular plaque has crazing lines and looks very old. The size of the plaque is 5 1/2" in diameter. There is a sticker on the back side from a garden shop, and the faux leather backing reads "Made in Italy". This is really a lovely Renaissance style framed picture.

It is made of wood with a plaster decorative trim that has been gold-leafed or painted and antiqued. I believe this box was made in Italy, but the sticker or manufacturing information has been removed. The decoupaged picture of the Madonna, has some slight wear and surface scratches. The gold paint has chipped off the plaster underlay in several spots. The box has been painted red on the interior. The size is about 3" long by 2 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" high.

It is in no condition to house a bird, but it has great decorative value for your cottage home. Use it for florals or candles, or display it by itself.

The condition is as you see it. I am not sure I would call it good condition, because it has a few bent wires, and two corners that have come unsoldered. The chipped green paint gives it a very distressed appearance. It contains two original white porcelain china feeders, which also have chipped corners. There is a removable tray, a wooden perch, and a carrying handle at the top. One end is solid metal, so it may originally been a show cage for a canary. The size is 10 1/2' long by 6 1/2" wide and 9 1/2" high. If you like aged charm with a lot of history, this might be your style.

It is about 4 7/8" in diameter and 2" high. The original $2.00 price tag is still on the underside from a La Jolla store. It can also be used in the boudoir or bathroom to store vanity items. The container has an old paper label from a flower shop, and it is also numbered on the underside. It has lost the original manufacturer's label. I believe this piece is hand-painted and it has two applied flowers on the front. There is a gilt trim on the container and the angel's wings.

The size is about 6 1/2" long and 4 1/2" high. There are no chips, cracks, or other condition problems. This little container has a Victorian, French, or Italianate appearance, and would make a lovely accessory.
