1955 Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe

$5.00
1955 Vintage Robinson Crusoe Book

Widely regarded as the first English novel, Daniel Defoe’ s "Robinson Crusoe" is one of the most popular and influential adventure stories of all time. This classic tale of shipwreck and survival on an uninhabited island was an instant success when first published in 1719 and has inspired countless imitations.

In his own words, Robinson Crusoe tells of the terrible storm that drowned all his shipmates and left him marooned on a deserted island. Forced to overcome despair, doubt, and self-pity, he struggles to create a life for himself in the wilderness. From practically nothing, Crusoe painstakingly learns how to make pottery, grow crops, domesticate livestock, and build a house. His many adventures are recounted in vivid detail, including a fierce battle with cannibals and his rescue of Friday, the man who becomes his trusted companion.

Full of enchanting detail and daring heroics, "Robinson Crusoe" is a celebration of courage, patience, ingenuity, and hard work.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How do you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

One of the main characters is a priest, who becomes the object of one of his parishioners love affairs.

The author's own brother, Karl, drowned at the age of 25 in 1965 while rescuing some people in Malia in Crete. This event was mirrored in the drowning death of Dane, one of the book's characters.

The book's title refers to a mythical bird that searches for thorn trees from the day it is hatched. When it finds the perfect thorn, it impales itself, and sings the most beautiful song ever heard as it dies.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How do you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

In this remarkable memoir, based on her diary entries, she tells about surviving German bomb attacks and near starvation only to wind up a captive laborer, one of seven million prisoners forced to work in German farms and factories.

There, despite constant hunger and backbreaking work, she managed to find friendship and even first love. Readers will be moved by Tatjana's resilience, courage and persistent faith in humanity during the little known struggle of Russian civilians during World War II.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take ANY 10 BOOKs for $25 FLAT (that includes shipping)
Just CONVO us with your list of TEN and we'll send you an updated invoice for $25 FLAT.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How do you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want that add up to $40
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

Its full of great illustrations too!

To give you an example of the reading level, here is an excerpt :
One day two dogs went out to look for some dinner. They looked and looked. But they found nothing to eat.
"Let's go down to the lake," said the black dog.
"We may find some dinner down there."

So away the dogs ran. Soon they came to the lake.
"I do not see anything to eat here," said the brown dog.
"I see some dinner," said the black dog.
"Look down there on the sand. See the bones under the water. Bones will make a good dinner."

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How do you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want that add up to $40
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

The story is about a professor, his nephew and a hired guide who travel down a volcano in Iceland encountering prehistoric animals and natural hazards, eventually coming to the surface again in southern Italy.

The creatures they meet reflect the geological time; as the rock layers become older and older the deeper one gets, the animals get more and more ancient the closer the characters come to the center. One of Verne's main ideas with his stories was also to educate the readers, and by placing the different extinct creatures the characters meet in their correct geological era, he is able to show how the world looked like millions of years ago, stretching from the ice age to the dinosaurs.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take ANY 10 BOOKs for $25 FLAT (that includes shipping)
Just CONVO us with your list of TEN and we'll send you an updated invoice for $25 FLAT.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How to you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

$5.00
vintage paperback as seen in photo

Venka is unfailingly brave and resourceful —but he is also a dedicated Communist. In Siberia during the 1920s, young Venka is an agent of the secret police (then known as OGPU). His main job is to hunt down the "bandits," who are fiercely anti-Soviet, have a large part of the population on their side, and live off the country. On skis and on horseback, he scouts the Siberian forests, running down his quarry while he dreams of the day when man and the world will be as good as Lenin's promise. There is no hate in him; he kills for a better world.

Planning to capture the biggest bandit of them all, Venka teams up with a peasant named Baukin, himself a former bandit who has gone straight. When the big raid is finished and the big bad chief is captured, Venka gives all credit to his peasant partner, assumes that he will be treated decently as a reward for his help. Instead, Venka's boss takes credit for the job as a Communist coup, has Baukin arrested as a common criminal. In a climax out of keeping with Venka's character, the young hero puts a bullet through his brain.

Comrade Venka, written during the temporary thaw after Stalin's death, was a big bestseller in Russia. Its plea for ordinary human decency is commonplace, but its point that party realism results in cruelty is so carefully spelled out that no Russian reader could have missed it.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How do you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

The book is widely credited with helping launch the environmental movement.

When Silent Spring was published, Rachel Carson was already a well-known writer on natural history, but had not previously been a social critic. The book was widely read (especially after its selection by the Book-of-the-Month Club and the New York Times best-seller list), and inspired widespread public concerns with pesticides and pollution of the environment. Silent Spring facilitated the ban of the pesticide DDT in 1972 in the United States.

The book documented detrimental effects of pesticides on the environment, particularly on birds. Carson said that DDT had been found to cause thinner egg shells and result in reproductive problems and death. She also accused the chemical industry of spreading disinformation, and public officials of accepting industry claims uncritically.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take ANY 10 BOOKs for $25 FLAT (that includes shipping)
Just CONVO us with your list of TEN and we'll send you an updated invoice for $25 FLAT.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How do you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want that add up to $40
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

The Godfather heard both sides and decided Boston had first crack at the big takeover, but they had to make it fast or lose the whole bundle.

The boys picked out a town, Chapmans Corners, not much of a town but to get it they were ready to use anything - bribery, blackmail, sex, murder. They came with money and guns, the ruthless force of Cosa Nostra behind them, and only one man even thought about stopping them. Greeley, the cynical hard-drinking crooked cop, had done some dirty things in his life, but there were limits. Maybe there were limits...

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take ANY 10 BOOKs for $25 FLAT (that includes shipping)
Just CONVO us with your list of TEN and we'll send you an updated invoice for $25 FLAT.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How do you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want that add up to $40
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

International racketeers, their resourcefulness sharpened by the huge stakes, were able to outwit the regular police and so the Diamond Corporation decided on a bold step: to create a private intelligence army. The true story of how a master spy-chaser was brought to Africa to dry up the international illicit diamond pipelines at their source is told her by Ian Fleming with the talent for realism that has won him a reputation without parallel as a suspense writer.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take ANY 10 BOOKs for $25 FLAT (that includes shipping)
Just CONVO us with your list of TEN and we'll send you an updated invoice for $25 FLAT.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How do you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want that add up to $40
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

Nightcap on Grey Velvet - Painting by NIK

$10.00
Nightcap: One for the road, hypnotic, sedative, sleeping tablet.

This painting is from my series featuring the titles from 60's and 70's Men's magazines.

No two are alike and slight imperfections may be found

This is hand painted with a brush.

****History of Velvet Painting: Velvet painting is an ancient technique, and took on a new popularity in the United States in the late 20th Century. Black velvet paintings originate in ancient Kashmir, the homeland of the fabric. (1975), which is commonly considered the first YA book to deal with teen love and teen pregnancy. Although Bradbury Press infuriated Blume by advertising the book as Blume's first adult book, Forever... is a Young Adult novel; it soon made its way into the teen audience,and is now being read by some preteens.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take ANY 10 BOOKs for $25 FLAT (that includes shipping)
Just CONVO us with your list of TEN and we'll send you an updated invoice for $25 FLAT

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How do you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

**Zero Tolerance toward LATE paying buyers -
either PAY immediately or receive bad feedback immediately**

With remarkable fortitude and courage, she sought to meet changing times and fight poverty and disaster. She saw one of her infants die from starvation, her daughter become a prostitute, and her sons leave the land for jobs which she distrusted. And, somehow, she survived....

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take ANY 10 BOOKs for $25 FLAT (that includes shipping)
Just CONVO us with your list of TEN and we'll send you an updated invoice for $25 FLAT.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Free Shipping for orders over $40 within the USA.
Free Shipping for orders over $60 internationally on select items.

How do you get FREE SHIPPING?

* Convo us with the items you want that add up to $40
* We'll send you an updated paypal invoice with FREE SHIPPING

1964 Gideon's Trumpet by Anthony Lewis

Wainwright, in which the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that criminal defendants have the right to an attorney even if they cannot afford it. In 1965, the book won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Fact Crime book.
A made-for-TV movie based on the book was released in 1980, starring Henry Fonda as Clarence Earl Gideon and José Ferrer as Abe Fortas. Lewis himself appeared in a small role as "The Reporter". The movie was a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation produced by Worldvision, and aired on CBS.

The name is a play on words, using the defendant's last name and invoking the biblical story in which Gideon ordered his small force to attack a much larger enemy camp. Gideon's army carried trumpets and concealed torches in clay pots. When the call to attack came, the noise and light they made tricked their enemies into thinking that a much larger army was attacking them. Thus, Gideon won the battle with little actual fighting

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take ANY 10 BOOKs for $25 FLAT (that includes shipping)
Just CONVO us with your list of TEN and we'll send you an updated invoice for $25 FLAT

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

He began writing it in 1948, but it was not quite complete when he died in 1955.

It was edited and released posthumously in 1957 by editor David McDowell. Agee's widow and children were left with little money after Agee's death and McDowell wanted to help them by publishing the work. Agee won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1958 for the novel.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take ANY 10 BOOKs for $25 FLAT (that includes shipping)
Just CONVO us with your list of TEN and we'll send you an updated invoice for $25 FLAT

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

On the Road by Jack Kerouac

$5.00
On the Road is a novel by American writer Jack Kerouac, written in April 1951, and published by Viking Press in 1957. It is a largely autobiographical work that was based on the spontaneous road trips of Kerouac and his friends across mid-century America. It is often considered a defining work of the postwar Beat Generation that was inspired by jazz, poetry, and drug experiences. While many of the names and details of Kerouac's experiences are changed for the novel, hundreds of references in On the Road have real-world counterparts.

When the book was originally released, The New York Times hailed it as "the most beautifully executed, the clearest and most important utterance" of Kerouac's generation. The novel was chosen by Time magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to 2005.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Take ANY 10 BOOKs for $25 FLAT (that includes shipping)
Just CONVO us with your list of TEN and we'll send you an updated invoice for $25 FLAT

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

It is the story of the young Marine who falls madly in love with a beautiful Tonkinese girl. It is the story of Nurse Nellie and her French planter, Emile De Becque.
