This bizarre flower blooms upon upon a golden filagree sun disk. At its heart is an iris of burning gold with a pupil in the shape of a seed. Could it be the sign of some forgotten god of the harvest? A talisman calling upon the blessings of the sun?

Once upon a time simple these pieces of metal had profound powers: They opened doors, activated machines, or kept precious things safe and hidden. But as the years passed these keys were orphaned, their uses forgotten. Now, rescued from the rust pile, they are the subjects of my experiments. Through art and eldritch sciences they have been transformed, brought to life to serve as chimerical guardians- What mysteries do they now protect, and what doors to they now unlock? Future experiments may uncover the answer.

Día de los Muertos or "Day of the Dead" is the Mexican equivalent of Halloween- it is a festive and colorful celebration of the dead- The night in which the dead come home to party with the living. I always loved the spirit and imagery of this holiday, and that was the inspiration for these pendants.

Each has been uniquely sculpted over an armature of brass wire, hand painted in loving detail with a subtle metallic shimmer, and glazed. Black glass is set deep in the sockets, so the eyes glimmer mockingly!

I recently had the pleasure of observing live seahorses in an aquarium- Long was I held mesmerized as I studied their gentle grace, drifting with them in their dreamy world. With Halloween on the horizon I've been in a voodoo mood and have fashioned a rainbow of these funky voodoo skull talismans. Each features a hand-sculpted and hand-painted juju skull in one of the five colors.

A 'Mambo' is a high priestess of voodoo, and her talisman in fit for a queen: It wears a crown of iridescent beads woven into a horned headdress of brass filigree, and a collar of glass, tiger's eye, and goldstone. Two darkly shimmering diamonds of blue goldstone evoke the mysteries of the night sky.

Moody blue juju for the voodoo that you do! This talisman is devoted to Erzulie Freda, the voodoo saint of love and luxury. It features shimmering, inky blue goldstone which reminds me of the diamond-dusted night sky. It is flanked by two filigree hearts - reminisent of the heart-shaped 'veve' designs used to evoke her. The Key of Corvis or "Key of Crows" is the latest of my key chimera. This guardian spirit is a trickster, a master of riddles, and though he can unlock doors to shining mysteries he will only serve the most clever. Satori is a Japanese Buddhist term for the first glimpse of enlightenment. Satori is experienced as a flash of sudden awareness and considered to first step on the journey towards nirvana.

This amulet illustrates Satori in a vivid eye of sunburst-yellow. The focal is a hand-sculpted cameo painted in colors of fire and bronze featuring vintage doll eye. Caelum is latin for 'sky' or 'the heavens.' Ethereal and wise, this amulet looks towards the heavens yet is anchored in brass. This is the first in a series of three protective amulets.

The Eye of Vanguard was created as an amulet to protect the courageous and empower the brave. The amulet's focal is a vintage doll eye in a hand-sculpted, hand-painted cameo. The pyramid designs are symbolic of lordly power; the blood-red of the iris is symbolic of vitality and passion. The eye is surrounded by a trinity of red Jasper stones. (Jasper was once considered the "Warrior's Stone," a stone of strength and courage, and is believed to have protective powers.) Key of Ithaqua

By popular demand, I've conjured up another family of Key Chimera. The first of these is the Key of Ithaqua, the daddy of them all. He is named for the Wind Walker of Native American legend and Lovecraftian imagination. Curious observes have told me that he looks like an idol from an aboriginal temple: I imagine it to be cold as a tomb but place of ancient wisdom and power. His wings remind me of antlers or bones.

This original work of art is sculpted from various materials including an acrylic doll eye and an antique key of solid iron. It's 55mm tall and not quite as heavy as it looks. Upon request it can be fashioned into a pendant with chain.
