$25.00
Vintage Hand Sewn - SILKY CRANES Blouse - 1980s

Hand made -
Elegant blouse, hand sewn in the mid 1980s in an oriental inspired print white, gold and black cranes on a background of deep sea-green.

Front side snapped hidden under a circular ruffle.
Simple short sleeves, straight and straight bottom - both with hand stitched hems.

Body is a squared fit - not snug, no darts. Just a body skimming staight and simple line.

100% polyester.
____________________________________________________

I suggest that this blouse would look best on a woman with a smallish bust

Size is approximately a size 12-14 (sewing pattern) which loosely translates to a 10-12 ready-made size.
My dress form is a size 8.

Measurements -
From back neck to hem -
25" (63.5 cm)
1" hand sewn hem

From underarm to hem -
17" (43.2 cm)

Sleeve length from underarm to hem -
4" (10.2 cm)
1" hand sewn hem

Bust measurement -
38" (96.5 cm)
Note - this bodice has no darts.

This is not my design. It is from a commercial sewing pattern from that era.

Blouse has been worn once or twice, is clean and in excellent condition.

__________________________________________________

Preferred care is hand wash cool and air dry on a hanger.

It can also be gently machine washed in cool water and tumbled dry for a few minutes.
Hang immediately on a soft hanger.

Use a cool iron if necessary.
__________________________________________________

The last picture is of an elegant egret on the shore of the Susquehanna River.
BEAUTIFULLY BOBBLED BLUE Sweater - in Crochet

$85.00
BEAUTIFULLY BOBBLED BLUE Sweater

Never Worn
Made in the mid 1980s

Here's a really nice crocheted pullover sweater.
It's medium weight in a year-round 'faux cotton' 100% acrylic.

Crocheted in mostly double crochet with rows of bobbles on the entire sweater - not just on the front.

As much as I looove cotton - this microfiber has the advantage not growing or shrinking. It has the hand, weight and comfort of cotton but won't shrink in the wash nor will the snug cuff stretch into a trumpet sleeve by day's end.

A simple crew-neck, an unstructured body, and just the right amount of ribbing at waistband, neckband and cuff make this sweater timeless in style yet feminine and fashionable as well.

Wear it as-is sweatshirt style or dress it up with a Lacy scarf or a voile peasant skirt.

The sweater is a rich Robin's Egg blue -
Size is pretty petite - woman's or teen's smallish or perhaps an older child.

Some measurements follow (without stretching, so factor in a bit of ease because crochet work isn't as stretchy as knitting);

Body Circumference - 32"

Length from arm pit to bottom of hem - 12 1/2"

Length from arm pit to bottom of sleeve - 20"

Length from just below crew neck ribbing in back to bottom of hem - 18 1/2"

__________________________________

Featured picture is of a gorgeous mound of daisies growing on a meadow

I was a bookkeeper/sales girl. We weren't called "sales associates" back then.

I had just flunked out of my first college experience the year before and before starting classes at a new college my mother and I treated ourselves to a lovely cruise in late August 1969.

This is a halter-styled dress with a very fitted waist and flared full length skirt.

Hot pinks and reds in an abstract island print.

_________________________________________________

I was 5'4" and weighed an unbelievably wonderful 114 pounds.

This is a commercial USA pattern size 6 (NOT the same as a store-size 6)

Measurements -
waist -
24" (61 cm)
5" (12.7 cm) wide (fit as snug as a corset)

Back zipper

Length from waist to hem -
39" (99 cm)
Hand sewn hem is 1 3/4" (4.4 cm)

The halter front slightly gathered and has a high tied neckline.

Note - Although the neckline ties - the neckline is rather fitted - ties around the neck in a loose bow.
__________________________________________________

Machine or hand wash cool.
Air dry.
May need a touch up with a low setting on the iron.
__________________________________________________

Photographed in my sewing room.

The last picture is me actually wearing this dress at one of the famous sumptuous formal dinners.
REAL lobster - they hadn't invented the artificial stuff yet.

I skipped the desserts and thought myself very sophisticated and had the traditional European cheese and fruit plate.

We had two multi-lingual European waiters - this one was Italian and switched naturally from Italian to Dutch to French and to German.
He was learning Russian that summer.

If you like my hand made OLD items -
maybe you will like my hand made NEW items also.

See an ever-changing variety of all new - all needlework at
http://lolabear.etsy.com/

I revised it - using a commercial sewing pattern from that era for the basic shape.

Dress has been worn, is clean and in good condition.

NO flaws, wear or damage.
__________________________________________________

Dry clean only.
Spot clean if necessary using only a damp cloth.

DO NOT IRON!
Crepe fabric may melt and beads may shatter.

Use a steamer or hang in a steamy bathroom to release wrinkles if necessary.
