Blue Shibori Scarf

$15.00
Sale Price: Was $18, now only $15!

Blue, Blue, and pink? When I was working with the 100% cotton pieces, I was expecting a color change. However, I was not ready for pinks to appear around the areas that did not have the color removed when I added the pieces to my vinegar. It was shocking and very interesting. The variations and contrast are quite striking. The patterns were created using craft sticks on the outside of the folded cotton that were held together with twist ties. The new background color is nearly a war tan. Fun and exciting when it all comes out and is "magically" changed. My "magic" comes from bleach and vinegar and can become quite odorific!

This piece could be worn by a man or a woman. Any one would look great in it!

This scarf is 61 1/2 " long by 8" wide. The shibori pieces are 100% cotton and the blue pieces for the rest of the scarf were remnants that I believe to be cotton, but they could be a blend. Machine was cold with like colors, tumble dry (if you want) and iron as needed.

Reserved for HandmadeMN Giveaway 1/3/10 to 1/16/09- Angel Devil Purse

$28.00
For the everyday angel and devil in all of us. I have created a sinister yet sweet little purse for every day usage. It was created using an old pair of denim pants and a tie for the handle. I have found that for an everyday purse made of denim, you do not need a lining. Therefore, this bag is not lined. It does have a heavy duty snap closure just behind the original pants button. The Stafford tie is hand sewn to the bag and is extra long. This purse has 5 exterior pockets. For embellishment, I have added the angel/devil heart patch and a small chain charm holder. The charm chain was specially created for this bag as well. It was made from a piece of necklace, two hearts, a locket and a mini key. I have also included a mini Capri sun business or credit card holder and a larger Capri Sun bag. The card holder is lined with orange fabric, and has a Velcro closure. The larger Capri sun bag is made from 4 pouches zigzagged together and has a zipper closure.

I hope you enjoy my up-cycled creations!
It was three carefully balanced balls. I couldn't get it out of my head. It became a new sketch and was then interpreted into a a design for a print. I used a variety of hard and soft ground techniques to create the intaglio print you see before you.

This was also a run of 9 prints. You choose one of 2 available from the following: 6/9 or 7/9. I will update the numbers as they are sold. #4/9, the one featured here, has been sold.

Each print is done on high quality cotton rag with black ink.
Size: 8 1/2" by 11"

Shipped to you in a protective plastic sleeve and sandwiched between heavy duty cardboard.

What a deal!

Creatures of the deep and of my mind. Curious and gentle or enticingly vindictive. What's that, a song. Beautiful music filtering through the air until... a sailor swamps his ship on rocks and blames them for the disaster. I think mermaids have a bad rap.

This is an intaglio print. I have six individual prints from this run available. This listing is for one of the following in the numbered series: 1/9, 4/9, 5/9, 6/9, 7/9, and 9/9. You pick and I will update the numbers as the prints are sold.

Each print is done on high quality rag paper with black ink. They are also each numbered, dated and signed by me, Stena.

Size: 8 1/2" by 11"

Each print comes to you in a plastic sleeve and sandwiched between heavy duty card board.

Sale...Denim Flower Flap Purse

$12.00
Currently on sale! Original price was $18. Also, free shipping if shipped with another item from my shop!

This one of a kind purse is created from the top section of a little girl's overall dress. The flap of the purse is the bib of the overall. The strap of the purse was re-made from the straps of the overall with hand sewn ribbons for accent. The overall clasps were actually heart shaped, so I had to make sure they were re-used. I embellished the existing embroidered elements with more ribbon, lace and buttons. The purse is not lined.

Because the fabric that was used to make this purse is made from re-loved items, the denim has slight staining on the flap of the purse. I washed this material, it wouldn't come out. It adds character to an item used and worn by a little girl that became a new purse.

This is a great purse for someone looking for a handbag for everyday wear and tear.

Sale...Denim Flower Snap Purse

$12.00
This item is currently on sale and free shipping if shipped with another item from my shop! Original price, $18.

This is a super cute little number. The purse was created from a little girls overall dress; this is the bottom half. I added a piece of denim to the bottom and kept the existing ruffles. The flower appliqués were decorations to the denim prior to becoming a purse. I created the handle and the closure using white and pink ribbon. It has one snap to open and close the top flap. I also covered the top edge with green ribbon and added green lace to the bottom. The gingham ribbon and white ric-rac were part of the little girl's dress.

This purse is not lined.

I hope you enjoy this purse as much as I do!

And that was exactly what I made. I found some ribbon that looked good in the belt loops, made a handle with matching ribbons, and added snaps to hold it shut.

It still looked a little blah...Appliquéd roses to match the ribbon were added to the front and a smaller one to the back.

This is a fun little clutch too. The wristlet handle can be tucked inside and becomes invisible.

Fabulous!

This one of a kind creation features a single gold hoop handle that is sewn to the body of the purse with the same material. It is lined and has two interior pockets. One pocket is large and the other smaller. This baby can hold a lot and keep your smaller items separate. To keep the bag shut, just flop the top over the ring. The top edge of the purse has an asymmetrical fold for a little bit more character. The material has a slight sheen to the background with a matte of the details. It is polyester and could be hand washed or machine washed on gentle due to the large hoop handle.

Hold it in you hand, loop it over your shoulder and have fun!

I never did find a use for them until now. The little gold whale charm hangs from one of the tie ribbons for the closure. The handle is made from a length of fuzzy black rick-rack sewn into the seam on one side and hand stitched in an interesting loop on the other.

This little bag would be great for treasures. These prints were created during my college years. It was a Xerox print process where you transfer a photo copy onto paper using a printing press and gum arabic. They are printed on high quality cotton rag.

If you are interested I will hand tint your print for free using fine water colors paints. You pick the colors! Or enjoy your print in the original black and white as it was printed.

I will ship in plastic sleeves sandwiched between heavy card board.

Size of prints are: 7" by 7" with one print being just shy of 7" across (6 and 7/8")

Each print is signed by me, Stena, and dated 1999.

Burgundy Shibori Scarf

$30.00
This is a wonderful number! The shibori scarf pieces were made from 100% cotton. The coloration of shibori is generally done in silk, but because of cotton's natural fiber the same techniques can be applied. The cotton was scrunched and held tight with rubber bands during the process. The color variations "magically" appear through the process of removing the dye in the material. My magic uses bleach and vinegar and can get a little odorific!

The scarf is 58" long by 8" wide. Shibori pieces are 100% cotton, solid color for the rest is a also cotton or a cotton blend(it was a remnant, so I am not exactly sure). Machine wash cold with like colors. Can by dried in a drier and ironed as needed.
