The original was commissioned for Robert of Abney Park, and it includes the HMS Ophelia as well as a Jules Vernian submarine, some Lovecraftian influenced Tentacles and Sea Creatures, Ocean, Mist, and a general feel of peril and adventure.

These are beautifully printed in archival inks on on heavy 100-year archival quality paper, luster finished to resist scratches and UV damage.

"Open edition" does not mean that a lot will be made, or that they will be made forever, it does however mean that there is no set number to be made and that they do not come with a cerificate of authenticity and are not registered on the online registry.

"All in all, the experiment was a brilliant success, though it ran for a shorter time than desired.

Ultimately, the machine had to be shut down prematurely, else we might not have had enough crew to make it comfortably back to port. Over forty Russian tribesmen bravely gave their lives to science this day - a terrible tragedy as they will surely be expensive to replace.

Also lost was an entire crate of ether, carelessly dropped from the edge of a berg in the midst of today's activities - a tragedy on so many levels.

Nevertheless, we saw many wondrous and splendid things this day: creatures and landscapes from the aether danced and swam about us through the air, and we saw the laws of our world temporarily suspended by those of the aether world.

Originally an engraving decorated with gold leaf, this cute Thulhu against a backdrop of shiny stars is available for a limited time as an 8x10 metallic archival print with a luster UV-protective finish. The metallic paper makes for an interesting effect, and communicates the gold leafing in the piece quite well.

The original engraving by Myke Amend was 8x10 inches, but due to the extreme amount of detail put into these works, making them larger only tends to better showcase the works, giving them more of a (still highly detailed) wood block print appearance.

Each print is embellished uniquely with silver signature and silver hand-drawn details (such as added stars and the like), and hand-dated in the margin for the day of embellishing.

Art prints created by recycling antique book pages and a little crafty collage work: Original artwork "Professor Vogel's Reading Machine" by Bethalynne Bajema is first printed on a page of old book paper before being collaged atop another book page to give this interesting antique print look.

While we've been renovating parts of my grandfather's house we've come across a number of antique items, among them numerous old books. All of the books still in pretty good condition we're saving and adding to our library of old books. But those books that are severely water damaged in places and beyond hope of fully salvaging, we've been finding creative ways to reuse the pages and illustrations from the books. My grandfather was a Dutch immigrant so many of these old books of his are in his native tongue and cover his love of old mystery and adventure novels. The books we're recycling add nicely to the neo-victorian and steampunk style some of our artwork has.

This particular book we're using for the printing pages is a 19th century Dutch book of collected stories by Conan Doyle, among other mystery and adventure authors. The prints are roughly 9 and a half inches by 13 inches. They're mounted on light board with art papers used to finish the backs. The edges are trimmed with thin silk ribbon. The surface of the prints are sealed with satin finish to protect the prints. The picture samples of the print include a look at the original artwork the print was taken from. Each of these is a one of a kind print as each collage, even if using the same original artwork, is printed using different book pages.

All Behold the Machine limited edition prints are hologrammed with a matching sequential numbered hologrammed certificate of authenticity, which is printed on fine Hahnemule rag paper. Certificate includes edition number, embellishment details, and artist's signature.

Metallics are printed in archival pigment inks heavyweight professional metallic stock, with a UV/Scratch/Moisture resist coating, archival at 200+ years.

The Hahnemuhle Certificate of Authenticity is designed to protect the security and exclusivity of your limited edition art works and reproductions, reducing the risk of forgery.

Each certificate has a serialized numerical hologram already affixed to the certificate. The certificate has the description of art work, publisher, artist, edition number and date.
