Shell Cameo Choker

$132.00
I'm back with the cameos again! Can't help it - they're just too cool for words and this one is exceptional. It's early - maybe late 1800's to turn of the century. The setting is gorgeous. It's gold filled and the chain tassels at the bottom are such a cool touch.

I've attached this cameo to an old watch chain piece. A very cool watch chain piece. The entire chain is beaded with gold filled beads. The necklace part is 15 inches long. The watch chain parts and cameo, including the tassel, adds another 4 inches.

I think you'll love this one!

Thank you!

Hope

$202.00
I found the case for this sweet piece at an antique show about a month ago. I've been trying to figure out what I want to put in it and then a lightbulb went off....I'm a needlework designer and I have stitched needlework pieces everywhere! It just seemed to make sense! So I tried piece after piece after piece until I knew I found the right one. This stitched design is called "Hope" and I love the way it fits into the old brass case. It's like a framed bit of artwork!

From the top of the case, on one side, are alternated chunks of moss aquamarine and lemon quartz beads. These lead up to an old brass ring and a T closure from a watch chain. More aquas and quartz beads are next, then a long length of beautiful old engraved watch chain. This connects to a single moss aqua on the other side, attached to the brass case.

This necklace is 22 inches long. The brass framed sampler, including the ring, measures 3 1/8 inches high by 2 1/16 inches wide.

Thank you!

Like a Moth to a Flame

$165.00
This piece has an ethereal quality to it. The bake-lite moth with it's rhinestones, has a blue-greenish tinge to its head and to the back of it. I fell in love with it the second I saw it in the case at the antique mall and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

To the top of the moth's wings, I've added series of opal beads and aquamarine beads. Next is a vintage chain, leading up to more aquamarines. I've fashioned a sterling hook closure which hooks to an old bone ring with a spot of blue-green. Perfect!

This necklace is 22 inches long. The moth is 3 1/2 inches wide by 2 inches high.

Thank you!

Mt. Saint Michel Memo Book

$295.00
Mt. Saint Michel is an island off the coast of Normandy, France. Google it when you get a chance and see how gorgeous it is. This little sterling memo book is absolutely fabulous. It opens when you remove the pencil and inside you will find blank pages of old paper. This must have been a souvenir item many, many moons ago. What a treasure it is!!

The sweet little souvenir piece is hanging from a section of an antique watch chain. I love this piece! It has five strands of silver chain and gorgeous filigree balls at either end. After the filigree balls are beads I found at a bead show this weekend. They are moonstone. When I first saw them, I thought they were mother of pearl beads. But they look amazing with the antique mother of pearls I wire wrapped into a chain. At the end of the chain of mop's is an old, French, mother of pearl clasp. It's attached with more tiny mop beads.

This is a special necklace. It is 26 inches long, but can be shortened if you'd prefer. The antique memo book is 1 3/8 inches wide by 2 inches tall.

Thank you!

Winter White

$182.00
I love the ivory colors in this piece. It's very neutral and made with the most wonderful stuff. The centerpiece is a carved bone running stag. This is an old, sweet piece. In the front of the stag hangs an old pair of ivory binoculars. It was a stanhope in it's early years, but the images are no longer there. This is a wonderful combination!

The stag and the binoculars are hanging from a short length of old watch chain. Next come some old, French, bone rosary beads and heart shaped connectors. The connectors attach to lengths of old watch chain and lengths of the same French bone rosary. These lead up to old shell carved cameos. The cameos are from an antique bracelet and are in the most gorgeous settings. After the cameos come book chain from France. The closure consists of a watch chain hook and an old bone ring.

This is a wonderfully casual, wear with everything kind of piece. It's light weight, easy to wear and the kind of piece you'll grab again and again! The length is about 21 inches.

Thank you!

My Best

$410.00
I did my very best work on this piece. I've been working on it for days. The sterling wire-wrapped chain is 45 inches long! It's been a true labor of love!

The centerpiece of this necklace is an antique, French slide locket, or mirror pendant. It's stunning. I believe it is silver plated over brass. Touches of the brass have been allowed to show through. Even the mirror inside is interesting - it produces a tiny image, so when you look inside, you will see your entire face, very small. Like a thumbnail photo! I've never seen another like it.

The chain is 45 inches of gemstones. There are aquamarines, green tourmaline, pale gold citrine and gorgeous garnets. In between are old rhinestone disco balls and a couple of clear crystal quarts nuggets. Every bead has been sterling wire wrapped.

The clasp is one I hand fashioned from sterling wire. The ring to which the clasp attaches is old and very ornate.

I've attached the slide locket to an old watch chain hook. The hook is easily detachable and you can move the locket to any place on the necklace you'd like. You can double wrap this necklace or even triple wrap it. You can put the slide locket on the clasp ring or anywhere else on the gemstone chain. It's completely interchangeable!

Hanging from the clasp ring is an old shell cameo locket, left empty so that you can add your own photos.

This is a stunning piece! I've taken lots of photos and you can find more on my blog: www.kathybarrick.blogspot.com.

Thank you!

A Very Fine Bird Revisited

$146.00
Somehow, and I wish I knew how, I managed to oxidize this sterling silver bird brooch to the point where it turned a gorgeous shade of green. I'm not sure I could do it again if I tried, but I love it! I've sealed it completely so the patina is there to stay.

From the bottom of the patina'd brooch hangs an old lithograph brooch. It's hanging by tiny faceted garnet beads with rhinestone spacers in between. And, I've hung a tiny, tiny garnet bead from the bird's beak.

From the top of the bird brooch are garnets with rhinestone spacers in between, then old rhinestone connectors attached to tiny garnets. Then comes some gorgeous old chain. I wish I knew the term for the texture of the chain, and I'm sure it has one. It's kind of sparkly due to the cut of the metal - maybe diamond cut?? I don't know! Anyway, this chain is attached to gorgeous chunks of garnet which is then attached to some old brass chain, followed by more garnet chunks. Next are two tiny garnets hooked to an old rhinestone clasp. Hanging down your back, with no purpose at all, is an old chain piece with a colonial man charm hanging at the very end.

This necklace is 22 inches long. The bird brooch and lithograph brooch combo is just over 2 inches long.

Thank you!

Sweet and Simple

Yet it has a wonderful look. It all starts with a gorgeous, old, cameo piece is the most beautiful setting. This is Victorian era, probably late 1800's.

To the top of the cameo, I've added old mother of pearl beads. Next is a gorgeous, old simple watch chain. It has two strands of chain, a sweet slide and a hook at each end. The hooks fasten into the top of the mother of pearl beads. It's as easy as that! This necklace slips easily over your head, or you can use the watch chain hooks to open it.

This necklace measures 24 1/2 inches long. The cameo is almost 1 1/2 inches high by 1 3/8 inches wide.

Thank you!

Strawberry Emery

They are little tiny pincushions, filled with emery which sharpens needles and pins. The ones with silver caps, like this one, were usually found on chatelaines. This one is exceptional in that each little strawberry seed was hand sewn. I would date this to 1875 - 1890.

I've attached the strawberry to a little turquoise bead, then to a long length of old, French chain with rhinestones. Then, I made a chain of turquoise beads, sterling wire wrapped together. These are both then attached to short lengths of old sterling chain. I fashioned a clasp from sterling wire to hold both sides together. I'm not usually a big fan of turquoise, but these beads are exceptional. They range in color from pale, pale turquoise to a deep forest green. They're stunning!

The long, strawberry strand of this necklace is 24 inches long. The shorter, turquoise strand is 20 inches long.

Thank you!

Basically, they are molded black glass. I've attached the grapes to an old rhinestone buckle and the end result is beautiful!

From the top of the rhinestone buckled are short lengths of old bracelet chain. Next are some facetedblack spinnel beads, then short lengths of French Jet beads which came from an antique bracelet. Next are lengths of old watch chain. On the right side is a hook closure and on the left side is an old ring. Dangling down your back from a sterling chain is an old pewter teacup.

This necklace is 19 inches long. The French Jet grapes and buckle combo adds another 1 7/8 inches to the length.

Thank you!

I just wasn't happy with it the way it was and decided to try again. I love the lion's head so much, it seemed a shame to "waste" it!

The centerpiece of this necklace is an old rhinestone brooch, which I've de-brooched. All of the rhinestones are present and a few have started to yellow - a look I love. I've attached the Victorian-ear lion's head to the bottom using sterling wire.

At the top of the rhinestone brooch are two Oregon opals, then long lengths of old, ornate chain. At the end of the chain on the right side is a sterling clasp I made. At the end of the chain on the left side is on old photo button of a young boy.

This necklace is adjustable from as short as you'd like to about 16 1/4 inches. The brooch and lion combo adds another 2 1/2 inches.

Thank you!

It has many elements that are my favorites - a gorgeous cameo, rhinestone ball beads, Peruvian opals, an antique picture button, a quartz druzy. What more could a girl want on a necklace?!

It all starts with a great medallion piece my daughter found for me at an antique shop in Maryland. It reads "Washington Camp." At the bottom, I've attached a rhinestone ball bead, then a fabulous antique cameo. I've never seen a cameo like this. It's carved shell and it's on a gorgeous piece of abalone shell. It's all encased in a sterling silver bezel with a tiny filigree silver border.

Then, from the top of the Washington Camp medallion, on the right side are: a rhinestone ball bead, a tiny blue rhinestone spacer, a mother of pearl bead, two short lengths of old chain, another rhinestone ball bead, an antique picture button, another rhinestone ball bead, a length of vintage chain, a mother of pearl bead and a hook closure.

From the top of the Washington Camp meadallion, on the left side are: a mother of pearl bead, a tiny blue rhinestone spacer, a brass filigree bead, a rectangular quartz druzy (drusy), a rhinestone ball bead, a slab of Peruvian opal, a length of vintage chain, a mother of pearl bead, a sterling extension chain and, dangling at the very end is another slab of Peruvian opal with three antique buttons swinging at the very bottom.

That's a lot of stuff!!

The necklace is adjustable from 18 to 24 inches. The medallion/rhinestone ball/cameo combo is 2 5/8 inches long.

Thank you!

A Repurposed Reliquary

$128.00
When I found this old, French reliquary piece, it had a few elements from a reliquary left inside - a few shreds of paper and a few threads from a red fabric background, and a length of coiled metalic gold tinsel. So, I took everything out and re-did it. I gave it an olive green fabric background, inserted a tiny, tiny bisque doll piece and added another piece of metalic tinsel - this one silver. The doll is very sweet. She has her arms folded and is the perfect size for this reliquary holder.

Attached to the top of the reliquary is a tiny mother of pearl bead, then a beautiful brass old barpin. From the top of the bar pin are old mop beads, fabulous chunks of dark labradorite, then vintage round mother of pearl beads. Next are lengths of beautiful old watch chain, then three old mop beads on each side. A hook closure is on the right side, an extension chain is on the left side, and dangling down your back is a vintage brass little bo peep charm.

This necklace is adjustable from 18 to 20 inches. The bar pin/reliquary combo is 2 1/4 inches long.

Thank you!

But I know NOTHING about cars, so I haven't a clue how old it is. But, it's truly adorable! The reverse side is a mirror (how handy!). This is a sweet necklace. I love the incongruity of it - the "casualness" of the photo mirror and the "dressiness" of the rest of the piece.

From the top of the photo are tiny garnet beads. Then I've attached some old, sterling filigree work. Next are gorgeous rhinestone links, red glass flowers, more rhinestone links, then sterling rosary roses. Next is vintage brass book chain, leading up to an old rhinestone clasp.

The length of this necklace is 21 inches. The photo mirror is 2 3/16 inches in diameter.

Thank you!

There is something so wonderful about them - kind of Victorian, kind of colonial -Something!!

This piece starts with a gorgeous gold filled Victorian era bar pin with a dark red glass stone sitting on a "wing" ornament. From it's bottom hangs two tiny mother of pearl beads, then the hand, the wonderful hand!

From the top of the bar pin are two old mother of pearl beads with rhinestone spacers in between, then beautiful vintage dark red glass beads. These exactly match the glass stone in the bar pin. Next comes the coolest watch chain. It's very old, quite heavy and made of brass. Next comes more mother of pearls with rhinestone spacers in between then a hook closure on the right side, an extension chain on the left side, and dangling at the very end, an old watch fob and a single mother of pearl bead.

This necklace is adjustable from 16 to 20 inches. Jeanne Antoinette Poisson was the mistress of France's King Louis XV. She was born on December 29, 1721 and died April 15, 1764. She was quite beautiful and was said to be a woman of great verve and intelligence.

So, I've taken this gorgeous portrait brooch, de-brooched it, and have hung it from beautiful fresh water pearls and a square rhinestone spacer bead.

The chain is made with more freshwater pearls, the most beautiful rutilated quartz beads you've ever seen, more pearls with rhinestone spacers in between, fabulous chunks of smoky lemon quartz. Next are links of beautiful, old brass chain, more pearls, then a vintage clasp. Dangling down your back is a sweet bumble bee.

This necklace is 16 inches long. Madame Pompadour's portrait brooch is 1 3/4 by 2 5/8.

Thank you!

I know, it's a stupid name, but this piece truly has some exceptional early items in it. The slide locket is from France, the square locket is amazing - it's gold filled, has a wonderful scalloped edge, has an intaglio cameo on the back and opens to hold your photos; an the hand is fabulous! I found it just this morning at an antique show in Maryland. It's made of ivory and has 24 karat gold trimmings.

This piece uses two exceptional watch chains, fastened together on the sides. You can open this piece on either side using the watch chain clip or the watch chain clasp.

This necklace measures almost 16 inches. The slide locket and clasp add another 2 1/4 inches to the overall length.

I realize this is an expensive necklace. I've used only exceptional pieces - pieces which were pretty pricey. But it is a piece you'll be proud to own!

Thank you!

A series of old watch chains are next, which lease up to a horn ring on the right side and an old watch chain "T" on the left. Hanging down your back is a sterling colonial lady charm.

This necklace is 20 inches long. The Notre Dame piece is 1 5/8 by 2 inches.

This is truly a gorgeous piece - the kind you'll reach for again and again.

Thank you!

Military Medal

$188.00
This antique military medal is absolutely stunning. I've been trying to do some research on it, but haven't gotten very far. It came from France. The engraved words "Habiliete Moraliti" mean "cleverness and morality" in French. BUT, it looks more like a Belgian medal than a French medal. Other Belgian medals have a similar crown at the top and other Belgian medals have similar hinges between the crown and the lower portion. So, I'm not sure! But, it's wonderful!

I've used some beautiful, old book chain on this necklace. The chain also came from France. I've attached the medal to the chain with a sterling piece I've made out of wire. Half-way up the chain are some old rhinestone bracelet links and these are repeated at the top. I've fashioned a hook clasp closure from more sterling wire.

This necklace is 19 inches long. The medal measures almost 2 1/2 inches by 1 1/16 inch.

Thank you!

It's a gorgeous piece. The setting is just amazing. It sits almost three quarters of an inch high. The locket opens and I've left it empty for you to insert your favorite photo. I've attached a few mother of pearl beads than hang in front of the locket.

The cameo is attached to an old mother of pearl chain. The chain is from France and is stunning. Each bead is a little different from the last, but each is wonderful. I've "interrupted" the chain on the left side to insert another shell cameo.. Old watch chain connects the two sides, complete with the original clasp and hook. Dangling down your back is an old teardrop pearl.

This necklace is 22 inches long. The cameo locket is 2 1/4 inches high by 1 1/2 inches wide.

Thank you!

Each sequin and bead was stitched on my hand. The sequins are a combination of clear and silver and "tarnished" with age. The beads are all clear glass. It's wonderful!!

I've kept this piece very simple. From the top of the butterfly are two jet faceted teardrop beads, rhinestone spacers then two jet faceted ball beads. Next is an old snake chain. Attached on the right side is an old rhinestone drop, very art deco.

This necklace is 22 inches long. The butterfly is 2 7/8 inches high by 3 1/4 inches wide.

Thank you!

NOTE: There may be a delay in shipping this piece. It was chosen for an InStyle Magazine segment on the Today Show. YAY!! It was shipped to InStyle Magazine on 11/4 and will be returned when they are finished the shoot.
Gutta Percha Locket

$212.00
I've been looking for a gutta percha locket for a long time...and it's not that they aren't available, they are, but the prices are just too high for my budget. When I went to the Md. Big Flea this weekend, I found this one. It's not in perfect condition; the hinge is broken and when you open the locket, the front and back come apart. But, it closes securely and is a beautiful piece. And, I could afford it!

I've paired the locket with some of the most beautiful rosary beads I've ever seen. They are from France and are made of carved bone. The rosary is from the 1920's.

After the rosary beads, I've added some chunks of black tourmaline. They are fairly matte and mimic the black in the locket. Next are lengths of old watch chain with the original hook and clasp closure. Dangling from the clasp is a tiny vintage black bead and a sweet leaf charm.

This necklace is 17 inches long. The gutta percha locket is 1 1/2 inches high, 1 1/4 inches wide and 3/4 inch in depth.

Thank you!

I have bowls of them in my house and bags of them in my studio. My friends gather them for me cause they know how much I love them. So, when I saw this gorgeous acorn brooch in an antique shop, I knew I had to do something with it. Then this past weekend, I went to the Md. Big Flea near Baltimore and found this old brass acorn. I'm not sure what it is. The top screws off and on, it's pretty substantial in weight. I wonder if it could be a counterweight of some sort.

Anyway, these two acorn pieces are perfect together. I've added gorgeous faceted green garnet beads and an old gold filled watch chain. An old brass closure completes the piece.

This necklace is 17 inches long. The acorn pieces add another 3 1/8 inches.

Thank you!

After weeks and weeks of solid work at my other job, it was a joy to get up this morning and make jewelry!

This is a double necklace, connected together at the old rhinestone clasp in the back. One strand holds an antique match safe. It's a gorgeous piece, engraved on the front with the initials FS (I think) to AG. It's a beautifully tarnished sterling silver. The necklace consists of antique sterling silver rosary beads, old rhinestone connectors and some fine silver chain.

The other strand holds an old French locket. The shape of the locket mimics the engraved part of the match safe and they look beautiful together. It opens to reveal two old photographs - a man and a woman. The necklace consists of an old mother of pearl rosary chain with beautifully misshapen beads.

The French locket strand is just over 18 inches long. The match safe strand is just over 20 inches long. They are beautiful together!

Thank you!

When I saw it, a lightbulb went off! An interchangeable necklace - what fun!! So I did it!

I removed the pin from the watch pin back. Added mother of pearl beads, old gold filled chain, some old scarab beads I've been hoarding, more mother of pearl beads with old bead caps, lengths of mother of pearl rosary chain and an old clasp.

For the main feature, you'll have a beautiful old pendant brooch with deep beveled glass over a quite charming looking man and an old shell cameo. It's very easy to make the change, but very difficult for the piece to fall off. The hook on the back is quite long.

Dangling down your back is a sweet, sterling shoe.

This necklace measures 19 inches. The portrait brooch is 1 3/8 inches long and the cameo is 1 1/2 inches long.

Thank you!

In the booth were tons and tons of antique watch chain, watch pins, lockets, all of the stuff I love. I could have gone CRAZY! Unfortunately, the guy's prices were not great. He was pretty expensive, so I had to limit my buying. One thing I could not resist was an antique watch chain with this fabulous dog watch fob. At first I wasn't sure if he was a deer or a dog, but he's a dog and I love him! Another thing I couldn't resist buying was this gorgeous old clip with a branch and leaves. Both of these pieces are gold filled, hollow, and beautiful!

So, I've sterling silver wire-wrapped the dog fob to the leaf clip. From the top of the clip, I've added garnet beads, and anold watch chain (not the one original to the fob, that one was very heavy and didn't work with this necklace). At the top of the watch chain are more garnet beads, an old brass ring on the right side and a watch chain "T" closure on the left side.

This necklace is 17 inches long. The leaf clip and the dog fob add another 2 1/2 inches.

Thank you!

I believe this eagle is from some sort of medal, but I'm not sure. It is just fabulous.

From each side of the eagle's wings are two lengths of chain. One is old blue glass rosary chain. The other consists of: a short length of old gold chain, tarnished metal ball beads and the most wonderful salt glazed pottery beads. These are glazed cobalt blue, much like the blue used on antique crocks. After the two lengths of chain, come vintage silver filigree beads, then wonderful chunks of abalone. Next comes some old link chain, then a hook closure on the left and extension chain on the right with another cobalt glazed bead to dangle down your back.

This piece is adjustable from about 18 - 20 inches.

Thank you!

Antique Pocket Mirror Necklace

$82.00
The black and white photo on this antique pocket mirror inspired me to go for a drab, old look and I think it worked! I love how this piece has such an old and worn look. Nothing is shiny or bright. It's definitely my sort of look!

It all starts with a sweet, old pocket mirror. From the top of that, I've added an old glass bead. Next is a length of very old whistle chain. It's such cool chain, kind of reminds me of barbed wire without the barbs. On the opposite side are beads - old silver filigree beads and old horn beads. Then an old round "wreath" which is used as part of the clasp.

The necklace is about 22 inches long. The mirror/bead combo is 3 1/2 inches long.

Thank you!

The detail is amazing. It's in excellent condition and makes a beautiful necklace!

From the top of each side of the carved ivory piece are small carved ivory balls, rhinestone spacer beads, then tube shaped ivory beads. Quartz crystal nuggests are next followed by chunks of smoky quartz. Then there is a large faceted quartz chunk on the right, then a length of beautiful vintage chain. This goes around your neck, attached to an ivory ball bead, then to a beautiful old brass hook. After the smoky quartz chunk on the left is another carved ivory ball bead then a brass ring to make the closure complete.

This necklace measures just over 18 inches. The carved ivory piece is 3 1/8 inches wide.

Thank you!

I'm not sure what it used to be. It has a fabric backing and had no pin back. But I truly love it!

From the top of Napoleon's frame, I've attached a single peacock bead then an old brass ring.

On each side of the ring are: jet faceted teardrop beads, old glass spacers and vintage amber glass beads. Then slabs of a gorgeous golden stone (don't know what it is, I'm sorry to say), then round amber glass discs, rhinestone spacers and old gold faceted glass beads. More old gold faceted glass beads make their way around to the hook closure and old brass ring in the back.

This necklace measures 16 inches. Napoleon and his frame are almost 1 5/8 inches in diameter.

Thank you!
