This started out life as a very thick, lined, high quality, spiral notebook. I didn't count all the pages, but they are about 1/2 inch in thickness, so there are lots. Notebook measures 8 inches by 5 inches.

For this one, I did a collage using paper and fabrics. I machine embroidered a bird in the toile type sitting on branches, used a vintage crochet doily, and a fabric scrap. I embellished the cover further with lace, scrim and a mother of pearl button.

It is gorgeous!!!

This fabric collage was done on a 6 x 8 inch gallery wrapped canvas. The sides are painted black to coordinagte with the front.

I used lots of fabrics, stamped muslin, a transfer of a beautiful child among the roses, a brass butterfly, scrim, crochet lace.

I love this piece. The girl is so beautiful and I managed to alter some roses to coordinate with the one in her hair. Lots of layers of papers, stamping, inking, painting.

My scanner scanned this in a little yellow. It's more creamy beige. The thing has a mind of its own sometimes.

The Melange team blog challenge this week was "mother". I wanted to do something a little different for my artwork on the theme.

So, here it is. Motorcycle Mamm is a mixed media collage done on a 6 x 6 inch gallery wrapped canvas. The sides are painted and it is ready to hang or set on a little stand for display. I used tons of different papers, inks, some of my own handpainted paper, a vintage image of a woman sitting on a motorcycle.

Beeswax and encaustic, mixed media collage on a hardboard. The pioece has been done on wood to support the beeswax. No acrylics were used in this piece, so it will last forever with just an occasional dusting.

I used layers of papers, antique crochet lace, other lace, ribbon, button and reprint of a vintage picture of three beautiful children sitting on a bench.

The piece measures 6 x 6 inches.

I love this one. It is one of my most favorite encaustic pieces that I have ever done. It includes a transfer and some experimental processes that I have developed using wax.
The pieces measures 5.5 inches square and is 1.5 inches in depth.

Sits nicely on a desk or in a bookcase.

When I first started out, I did a lot of kinda edgy, bohemian art that had lots of quotes and I hope really found a place in some people's hearts. I let the commercial aspect of it all dictate what I did for the last couple of years. But now, I am back to just doing the art that speaks to me, and that I can share with others who maybe would like to have a piece to look at every day that speaks to them also.

This piece is definitely a hybrid and is one, if not THE, most favorite piece I have ever ever done. It is partly digitized, mostly collaged, and I also used a hardboard canvas to mount it on. This is the best, longest lasting, most durable canvas that artists can use, because it is made entirely of wood. The sides are painted black and it is ready to be hung on the wall or set on a stand to display.

I also mounted the collage directly onto a piece of an antique curtain. I left it rather edgy and uneven, because I felt that it reflected the attitude of the woman. Then I added some tiny heart lace, a velvet leaf, some beads and some scrim. The hardboard is highly textured and some of the texture will be seen in the piece because it shows through. I loved that.

The canvas measures 8 x 10 inches.

I have started working on these great wooden art blocks. They are 5 x 5 x 1 1/2 inches. They sit beautifully on a shelf or a table. Should you want to hang it on the wall, there is a slot cut into the back for a nail.

For this piece I used both fabrics and handmade paper, plus a piece from sheet music. I stitched the angel onto two different handmade papers, then onto fabric, sheet music, more fabric and then onto the block.

I also added stamped twill tape, gorgeous double sided gold and silver ribbon, silk ribbon rimmed with 14k gold, and one golden fiber. Topped off with a gold color embellishment.

This makes an awesome Guardian Angel for a child's room, a grandmother gift, just for you in a bedroom to watch over as you sleep.

This piece of art is in the current issue of Sew Somerset magazine.

I started with an 8 x 8 gallery wrapped canvas and painted the edges. Next I added several layers of fabric which I free motion stitched on. Then I manipulated a gorgeous angel in Photoshop and printed her onto fabric and added her to the collage. The center portion was covered with cheesecloth which I dyed and clipped away to reveal the angel. I used a bit of an antique hankie for the first layer, and even did some needle felting to finish.

For this mixed media and fabric collage, I started with a pice of linen embroidered with beautiful white flowers, added several fabrics, a reprint of an angel, silk ribbon, venice lace, an antique button, a spray of pearls.

From the top of the hanger to the bottom of the lace, it measures appx 10 inches by 6 inches wide. This beautiful little wall hanging is in the current issue of Sew Somerset magazine. My artwork will also be in the upcoming issue of the same Somerset publication. Look for it in December

Altered art bottle. This one is a small vintage apothecary bottle. I have soldered the stop and a rim around the bottom of the bottle. Added some gorgeous fabric, venise lace flowers, brown lace, and little seed pearls. The bottle measures appx 4.5 x 1 3/4 inches and is 7/8 inch deep.

The fabric is actually a crinkled cream color and the venise lace is white with pearl. Hard to see, this picture makes it all look white.

Altered vintage bottle. This one is a highly unusual shape. It has about a dozen sides. I covered the bottle with antique crochet lace, lace appliques which I dyed golden color, hand dyed silk ribbons adorn the throat and I hung a chandelier prism from the ribbons. The top is soldered. This is the sweetest bottle, measures appx 6 inches tall.

This was so much fun to do. I did this challenge from the Crowabout group on Flickr. They have the BEST sheets they offer you and then you do a piece. This is mine. It is on a 6 x 6 inch hardwood canvas. I love these canvases because they are totally made out of wood, so sturdy, never will stretch or anything. You can just sit them on a bookshelf or hang them on the wall.

The sides are painted black.

I used inks and paints and three wooden pieces also.

For this piece, I used lots of different papers, fabrics, lace, handmade paper, a clay transfer of a gorgeous lady dressed in lace, jewelry chain and an embellishment in the corner.

This is a clay collage on a 5" by 7" canvas panel. I have used polymer clay to create a collage. The clay has been stamped into and then colored to make it look like wood. I then collaged using papers, ephemera, a vintage image, a bird image and stamping. I then added a dowel with beautiful fibers.

Fun little canvas. I stitched the vellum stamped birds onto the tree image with green thread and then collaged the pieces onto a green mottled with blue and cream background. Followed with a little stamping and some triangular little castings.

The gallery wraqpped canvas has 1 3/4 inch sides and I have painted them black. The canvas itself is 4 x 6 inches, which is one of my absolute favorites because you can tuck this little piece in just about anywhere.

I can't remember when I had so much fun doing altered art. I did quit using the wax on the bottles during the summer, but have found that they are just as beautiful by using other techniques.

This one measures appx 5 1/4 inches by 2 1/2 inches wide and appx depth is 1 1/4 inches. The tapesty piece is a needle punched fabric that Alisha and I did for a Sew Somerset magazine article a while back. It wraps all the way around the bottle. I also added vintage lace, scrim, hand crocheted lace, and soldered the bottom and the top of the jar.

Done in gorgeous shades of cream, greens.
