Funky and I love them! They remind me of 60's pantsuits and big hair...

These earrings are made from salvaged, FSC certified purpleheart. I found this particular piece of PH while recently filming a storque video for the new "Process" series. Check it out at - http://www.etsy.com/storque/handmade-life/process-sustainable-wooden-jewelry-by-prasseindesignstudio-2624/

A simple solid sterling silver wire (no copper fill) ear hook is threaded through the wood ring. The wire sits loose in the wood to allow it to swivel and move while worn. The wire is held in place by a small coil on the inside of the wood ring.

The wood peice is removable so I will soon be offering these as interchangable sets of different wood species and shapes...

Purpleheart hoop measures 1-1/2" in diameter, 7/16" wide and 3/16" thick. Earring Length from top of hook to bottom of wood is 2-3/4".

All of my pieces are cut from a solid block of wood, sanded and finished by me in my home shop. I use only natural finishes, containing no toxic chemicals, colors, stains or dyes while providing excellent moisture protection.

If needed, finish is easily restored by rubbing a small amount of Orange or Olive Oil into the wood.

Padauk and Stainless Steel Domed Wood Cuff Bracelet

I was given this piece of Padauk from a cabinetmaker friend who had some remnants pieces. It has incredible orange and red tones with black graining throughout. To preserve the color I have applied a sunscreen coating. The color is gorgeous - loaded with depth and shine.

This cuff is cut from one piece of wood, with a domed top measuring 1/4" that tapers to 1/16" at the inside of the wrist. Size medium - inside width measuring 2-1/4" & inside height of 1-3/4". Face width is 3/4".
***Concerned about fit? Try it - if it's not the right I will gladly replace it!!!

Inside is lined this with stainless steel. Other lining options include Sterling Silver, Nickel, Brass, Copper & leather. If you prefer a lining or size other than what is shown, please let me know.

The strongest wood on earth... called the "Tree of Life" for its medicinal properties. Ship bearings used to be made from Lignum. It is also the active ingredient in guanfacine cough syrups, used to treat gout as well as a topical skin treatment. An amazing wood!!

This is the third piece of a series, born while filming for an Etsy process video. The video can be found here -

The focal point of this cuff is the original FSC certification stamp, which guarantees this wood has been legally harvested. I was able to incorporate the stamp which has been burned into the wood... thus the name, Nature's Barcode.

Size Small (standard sizing for average wrist size) - Square face width measures 1-7/8" tapering to 1-1/2" at inside wrist opening. Inside wrist opening measure 2-1/4" by 1-3/4".

Made from FSC Certified Brazilian Garapa which was originally produced for exterior decking. After that cycle, the same wood was then used in a shipping palette to deliver other FSC woods. The material was then disposed of for future composting. With a bit of digging, I was able to salvage this piece along with several other amazing species...

Sure to be an attention grabber - I hope this piece will serve as a tool to educate others about the plight of our worlds forests!

Many people are unaware that 50% of the wood imported into the States has been illegally harvested to the disastrous detriment of its natural environment. Through the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification program and chain of command, managed forests are responsibly harvested without destroying forests; ensuring that wood is legally harvested while financially benefiting that regions native population.

25% of the price of this piece will be donated to the Forest Stewardship Council.

African Blackwood Cuff

I love this piece and can't bear to part with because it is absolutely one of a kind and can not be duplicated! But I have way too much jewelry so it must go...

I found this piece of wood in a pile of remnants and had no idea what it was. When I cut into it I found a sap wood inclusion that I was able to capture as the focal point of this piece.

The wood is very dark with subtle hints of dark plum veining, as well as the creamy white center.

Size: M/L Face width is 2" which tapers slightly to the wrist opening. Wrist opening is 1-5/16" Interior width is 2-1/4" by 1-3/4". Cuff thickness is 1/4" and tapers to 1/8".

All of my work is finished with water resistant, nontoxic finishes containing no VOC's, stains or dyes.

Cocobolo is an amazingly beautiful and hard wood. Color ranges from dark honey to deep reds and dark brown. The grain pattern is very dense and smooth and shows well in this piece.

This ring is chunky but tapered sides provide a narrower, comfortable band. Size 9 - 1/4. I will gladly accomodate any size or width requests.

Beautiful tight grain and color range from gold tones to brown and black.

This bracelet is cut from one piece of wood, with a thickness of just over 1/8". All edges are eased for comfort. Face width is 1-1/8". Size medium - inside diameter measures 2-1/2".

This piece has been finished by hand with ground pumice, water and tung oil. I do not use any stains, dyes, colors or chemical finishes of any kind in my work.

Teak is incredibly strong and ideal in jewelry because it holds up so well to water. Please remember this is wood and try to avoid water.

East Indian Rosewood has a fine wood grain but compared to other harder woods, its grain is almost feathered looking. Its lines are random and wavey which creates a dark but soft aesthetic.

The face of this ring is wide but because of the side taper and narrower band, extremely comfortable.

Size 6 - 1/2 ring made of Tulipwood. The face of this ring is wide but because of the side taper, its extremely comfortable. As with all of my work, try it - if the size is not perfect I will replace it!

Tulipwood is one of my favorite species because of its amazing character. It has a fabulous, tight grain with bands of gold, pink, fuschia and red. I'm not a girl who likes pink much but it's gorgeous... I wear at least one piece of tulipwood daily and it definitely catches attention!

Salvaged Padauk Hoop Earrings

So I have finally had time to get some earrings made! More are on their way... These are sure to add some sass to any mood or outfit!

Earrings are 3" long from top of ear wire to bottom of the wood hoop. Wood measures 1-1/4" diamater by 1/4" wide and 1/8" thick. Solid sterling silver wire (no copper fill) connects wood and silver jump rings to ear wire. Earrings can be made shorter by shortening ear wire and/or removing a jump ring. I am happy to do this for you, just add your request in the note to seller.

This Padauk was salvaged from the waste bin of a local cabinet maker. Growing in Africa and Asia, Padauk has traditionally been used as herbal medicines and in dye making.

Padauk has incredible orange and red tones with arching grains of black. To preserve the color I have applied a sunscreen coating. The color is gorgeous with incredible depth and shine.

Marblewood Bangle

Such an interesting and unique species! So unusual people are often surprised that it is wood... Light golden, orange and yellow mottled background with marbled veining of maroon and black. Earning its name from the arches of colors that look like classic, veined marble only in popping color.

And it smells amazing - like popcorn!!
This is true marblewood which can be difficult to source.

Reclaimed Teak... Salvaged from old shipping cargo containers. Crates and container flooring used to be made from massive planks of amazing tropical woods like Teak and purpleheart. I know a guy that collected this stuff as saw shipping containers being demolished.

Such an amazing species but difficult to use... I am lucky to get 1 good piece out of every 5 that I work. Full of amazing character; wavey, tight grain with bands of gold, pink, fuschia and red.

Cuff face width measures 1" and tapers to 3/4". Domed crest thickness is 5/16" and tapers slightly to wrist opening. Lined with stainless steel for extra durability.
