This fused glass pendant mounted on forged and heat-patinaed copper measures approximately 2"h x 1.75"w. The glass cabochon is made from two shades of cobalt blue swirled together. The heat patina allows the beautiful colors created when the copper heats up to be hilighted on the piece.

The pendant hangs from an 18" black cord.

For this beautiful and unique necklace, I used copper wire and iolite as a base for the pendant, hanging it from a 33.5" handmade copper wire, picasso glass and iolite chain, ending in a handmade copper clasp.

The pendant measures 2" long x 1.5" wide, adding to the length of the piece.

Hope itself is the sure belief that something better is coming. As simple as that definition sounds, it implies that to have hope, there must be suffering or despair to overcome. It requires the one who is suffering to make a choice between despairing in today’s pain and grief and hoping for the better day that is coming.

I heard a story the other day that depicts the power of what having hope can do:

While walking in the park, a child came upon a cocoon that obviously had a butterfly struggling to get out. The child felt sorry for the butterfly, and helped it to break free from the cocoon. As she watched the newly freed butterfly, expecting it to take flight, she noticed that its wings were not strong enough to lift itself off of the branch. You see, the butterfly’s ability to fly comes from the strength that is built during the struggle to free itself from the cocoon.

Just as it is true with the butterfly, it is also true for people: without the struggle, we cannot grow stronger. We cannot always choose the condition of our adversities, but we can choose to engage in the struggle. In doing so, we sustain hope in the knowledge that we will emerge stronger than we were when we began.

These lovely etched copper cross pendants have been etched and heat-patinaed producing beautiful colors. The crosses measure approximately 1" w x 1.75" h, and hang on 18" black cords.

For this unique necklace, I used two pieces of heat-treated etched copper as my base, and riveted a small hand-cut leather flower for a second layer to the bottom piece of copper. The two pieces of copper were then linked using jump rings in a chain-mail technique. I really like the juxtaposition of the materials as well as the texture the leather brings to the piece.

This beautiful pendant measures approximately 3.5" high (from the top of the chain-mail) by 1.25" wide, and hangs from a 25" triple-chain made from antiqued brass and copper chain, and is finished with a hand-made copper clasp.

The 2.5" long pendant is made from three 14mm coins that are wire-wrapped to a handmade copper headpin.

The pendant hangs from an 18" double chain of antiqued copper-plated steel chain that closes with a beautiful copper toggle clasp, making the total length of the chain approximately 20".
