Description
I woke up in the middle of the night with the image of a small cabin seen through tangled branches. I started sketches the next day, adding details like the birds and the sweet little girl feeding her chickens. I call it "Little Green Valley" after a song that we used to sing at Camp Metamora, a Girl Scout Camp in Michigan. It used to be way out in the country, but I drove by recently and was amazed to see strip malls and civilization all around. In the midst of all that was a small sign just before a side street... "Camp Metamora" with an arrow pointing the way. What can I say? I was a Girl Scout for 12 years. This painting has a nostalgic feel, but is a little modern too.

Who needs an umbrella when it's raining, especially when you're a duck? "Splish-splash, splish-splash!" A wonderful picture to give as a shower gift for a baby's nursery.

Quack! is an 8 x 10" painting on paper that is the same size. I painted Quack! on Fabrianno soft press watercolor paper; it is dated and signed. There is aproximately 1/8 " for framing, or do as I have many times and mount it on top of mat board instead of cutting a hole.

Summer Peaches

When the peaches are ripe we go out in the backyard and eat them right off the tree. Summer never tastes so good as it does when we stand out there, leaning over, as the juice rolls down our chins.

The original of this painting was created to go with a haiku "Summer" that was published by SPIDER Magazine. Both appeared in the August 07 issue.

Large Flight of the Fireflies print

After releasing fireflies, two girls take chase. They follow the beautiful glow, hoping to find the fireflies' secret place. All the fireflies flee, not wanting to be caught again, except one. I believe he wants to be friends.

Two girls enchanted by the glow of a hundred fireflies.

This painting was inspired by a story my mom told us. When she was a girl on vacation in the summer, thinking up practical jokes was one of the ways she and her siblings entertained themselves. One cloudy day they spent an afternoon collecting fireflies. That night they released them all inside their little cottage.
