This Native American inspired vase features a star medicine wheel hand tied with brown waxed linen. It is embellished with Native American style Single Wrapped feathers. The feather on the left is wrapped in the Contemporary Eastern style. It uses a chicken feather and horse hair wrapped with waxed linen. It has black leather lacing, red and turquoise hemp cord, a disc of tan suede leather and 2 carved bone beads.
The feather on the right is wrapped in the Traditional Style. It features 3 feathers with the quills wrapped in turquoise felt. The felt was then wrapped with brown waxed linen. 3 bone beads hang from the quills. This feather is tied to a piece of brown leather lacing that is wrapped around the neck of the gourd. A chunk of turquoise is tied to the rim.
It is colored with cordovan leather dye inside and out and has a protective polyurethane finish.
This vase is not food safe or waterproof. It is for decorative purposes only.
It measures 8 1/2"w x 10 1/2"h and is 26" in circumference.

Moon Colt

This cute little colt was woodburned onto the gourd and colored with leather dye and gilder's paste. The Moon shape was carved out of the gourd and then inlaid with Turquoise. Real Turquoise was ground up, mixed with epoxy and then inlaid with a toothpick. After drying it was sanded level with the gourd surface. The outside of the gourd is protected with several coats of polyurethane. The top is embellished with chestnut and brown horse hair sewn around the rim. This vase is for decorative purposes only and is not food safe. Signed and dated.

Lovely vase featuring a portrait of a Gray Wolf howling the Call of the Wild. He is totally pyroengraved with touches of brown leather dye and oil pencil for color enhancement. The blue band at the top has been carved out, inlaid with lapis lazuli and then sanded for a smooth finish. The sides are carved in a half moon shape. The inside is left natural and the outside is protected with a matte polyurethane finish. It sits on a deer antler embellished with natural color leather lacing and a chunk of lapis lazuli added for stability. It is not waterproof or food safe and is for decorative purposes only. It is signed and dated. It measures 10 1/2"w x 14" h and 27" in circumference.

Southwestern pot

I love Southwestern style pottery. The symmetry of the geometric design is pleasing to my eye. They are not so easy to accomplish on gourds which are not perfectly shaped; however, I love the challenge.

This pot features a geometric design pyroengraved 3 times around the pot. Mahogany, British Tan and Light Blue leather dyes are used to color this pot. It is protected with a satin polyurethane finish on the outside. The inside has been left natural. (cleaned of course) It is not food safe or waterproof and is for decorative purposes only.

It is signed and dated.

It measures 7"w x 7"h and is 24" in circumference.

The leather dyes are rich, beautiful colors which are impossible to completely capture on camera although I have tried to represent them here as faithfully as I can. You will be glad to know that they are even more beautiful in person!
