Information on the "Adventures of the Wishing Chair" by Enid Blyton ->

Mollie and Peter, searching for a birthday present for their mother, find a mysterious antiques shop which appears to be run by fairy folk. There, they find a magic wishing chair with the power to grow wings and fly. After the chair rescues them from the shop, and gets them home, they decide to keep the chair in their playhouse. On their first flight, they rescue a pixie called Chinky from a giant. The pixie comes to live in their playroom, and the remainder of the book concerns the adventures of the children, as the chair takes them, and Chinky to various magical places.They also get into trouble due to some invisible paint, and a boy who makes faces, and cannot unmake them. The children have a most pleasant time with the chair, with some near misses!

The history of Wishing well's ->

A wishing well is a term from European folklore to describe wells where it was thought that any spoken wish would be granted. The idea that a wish would be granted came from the idea that water housed deities or had been placed there as a gift from the gods, since water was a source of life and often a scarce commodity.

People believe that the guardians or dwellers of the well would grant them their wish if they paid a price. After uttering the wish, one would generally drop coins in the well. That wish would then be granted by the guardian or dweller, based upon how the coin would land at the bottom of the well. Traditionally coins were made of copper or silver and had biocidal properties which kept the water from going sour (bacteria produces various acidic compounds which affect the taste, notably Hydrogen sulfide). It was thus lucky to throw coins in the well.

In November 2006 the "Fountain Money Mountain" reported that tourists throw just under 3 million pounds per year into wishing wells.

A beautifully detailed solid Sterling silver vintage style spinning wheel hangs from this lovely chain.

This necklace was inspired by the fairytale "Sleeping Beauty". In Sleeping Beauty the princess pricks her finger on a spinning wheel and falls asleep for a hundred years untill she is magically rewoken by a handsome prince (see below for more information).

The spinning wheel is so beautifully sized, detailed and whimsical it would compliment any outfit.

I have tried to photograph both sides of it as they are slightly different.

The spinning wheel measures approximately 11 x 14mm. It is cast from Sterling silver (stamped Sterling on one side) and comes on a beautiful, delicate yet sturdy Sterling silver curb chain necklace.

The chain is available in a choice of two lengths, either a16" inch or an 18" inch.

Information on "Sleeping beauty" ->

At the christening of a long-wished-for princess, fairies invited as godmothers offered gifts, such as beauty, wit, and musical talent. However, a wicked fairy who had been overlooked placed the princess under an enchantment as her gift, saying that, on reaching adulthood, she would prick her finger on a spindle and die. A good fairy, though unable to completely reverse the spell, said that the princess would instead sleep for a hundred years, until awakened by the kiss of a prince.

The king forbade spinning on distaff or spindle, or the possession of one, upon pain of death, throughout the kingdom, but all in vain. When the princess was fifteen or sixteen she chanced to come upon an old woman in a tower of the castle, who was spinning. The Princess asked to try the unfamiliar task and the inevitable happened. The wicked fairy's curse was fulfilled. The good fairy returned and put everyone in the castle to sleep. A forest of briars sprang up around the castle, shielding it from the outside world: no one could try to penetrate it without facing certain death in the thorns.

After a hundred years had passed, a prince who had heard the story of the enchantment braved the wood, which parted at his approach, and entered the castle. He trembled upon seeing the princess' beauty and fell on his knees before her. He kissed her, then she woke up, then everyone in the castle woke to continue where they had left off... and, in modern versions, starting with the Brothers Grimm version, they all lived happily ever after.

A beautiful Sterling silver Celtic bracelet featuring the natural gemstone Tigers eye interspersed with Celtic knotwork design Tibetan silver beads.

This design combines eye-catching Celtic knotwork design Tibetan silver beads with 6mm Tigers eye rounds that have wonderful natural rich yellow and golden brown stripes, all other fittings are of high quality .925 Sterling silver.

This bracelet is 7.25 inches (18.5cm) in length and has the option to buy with or without an extender at no extra cost (both are shown in the photographs). The extender measures an inch which increases this bracelets wearable size to 8.25 inches (21cm) in total. The closure is a .925 Sterling silver trigger clasp and is secure, yet easy to use.

This necklace is themed around Alice's adventures when she met the caterpillar. Alice was only 3 inches tall and told the caterpillar she wished to be larger. He told her that the mushroom he had been sitting upon could make her magically shrink or grow!

But which side of the mushroom did which...?

The longer bottom chain features a beautifully detailed vintage illustration by Tenniel from Alice in Wonderland ...with Alice talking to the caterpillar, this has been placed in a silver plated pendant (25mm x 18mm) and encased in glass for a high quality, enduring finish.

The shorter chain hangs delicately above and has a lovely mushroom charm just like the magical one which makes Alice grow and shrink!

You can see in the photos how well the charm and photo pendant work together.

The longer bottom chain is 18 inches, the top chain is 16 inches. The closure is a bar and ring clasp which is secure yet easy to use and attaches to both chains so they sit well on the neck.

The bike "Penny Farthing" was designed and built in 1866 by a Frenchmen named Lallement. In 1867, an Englishman, R. A beautifully detailed solid Sterling silver vintage style spinning wheel hangs from this lovely chain.

You can see the foot pedal and the yarn!

This necklace was inspired by the fairytale "Sleeping Beauty". In Sleeping Beauty the princess pricks her finger on a spinning wheel and falls asleep for a hundred years untill she is magically rewoken by a handsome prince (see below for more information).

The spinning wheel is so beautifully sized, detailed and whimsical it would compliment any outfit.

I have tried to photograph both sides of it as they are slightly different.

The spinning wheel measures approximately 11 x 14mm. It is cast from Sterling silver (stamped Sterling on one side) and comes on a beautiful, delicate yet sturdy Sterling silver curb chain necklace.

The chain is available in a choice of two lengths, either a16" inch or an 18" inch.

Information on "Sleeping beauty" ->

At the christening of a long-wished-for princess, fairies invited as godmothers offered gifts, such as beauty, wit, and musical talent. However, a wicked fairy who had been overlooked placed the princess under an enchantment as her gift, saying that, on reaching adulthood, she would prick her finger on a spindle and die. A good fairy, though unable to completely reverse the spell, said that the princess would instead sleep for a hundred years, until awakened by the kiss of a prince.

The king forbade spinning on distaff or spindle, or the possession of one, upon pain of death, throughout the kingdom, but all in vain. When the princess was fifteen or sixteen she chanced to come upon an old woman in a tower of the castle, who was spinning. The Princess asked to try the unfamiliar task and the inevitable happened. The wicked fairy's curse was fulfilled. The good fairy returned and put everyone in the castle to sleep. A forest of briars sprang up around the castle, shielding it from the outside world: no one could try to penetrate it without facing certain death in the thorns.

After a hundred years had passed, a prince who had heard the story of the enchantment braved the wood, which parted at his approach, and entered the castle. He trembled upon seeing the princess' beauty and fell on his knees before her. He kissed her, then she woke up, then everyone in the castle woke to continue where they had left off... and, in modern versions, starting with the Brothers Grimm version, they all lived happily ever after.
