This paper collage represents the landscape in Triora, Italy. Triora is a tiny village in the mountains, not far from the French border. It is known for its history of witches, or streghe. The village is very charming- the historic center is pedestrian only, and I enjoyed walking through it's tiny cobblestone streets and alleyways. The architecture in Triora is mainly classic Italian stone buildings with tile roofs, and the view is phenomenal. This picture was made by collaging origami paper onto a thicker paper. I added additional color and texture by rubbing chalk and charcoal powder onto some of the papers. The dimensions of this piece are 12.5 x 19 inches (31.75 x 48.25 centimeters). You can see the full image in the second picture.

St. Peter's Feet, small original painting, approximately 7 x 10.75 inches (17.75 x 27.25 centimeters).

This monochromatic painting is done in oil paints on canvas paper. I saw these feet on a statue in the museum of the duomo in Milan, Italy. I don't really remember with certainty who they belonged to, but I think of Peter when I look at them, and so they are attributed to him.

Undulating Prairie: Mixed media with watercolor, charcoal and pastel on rice paper.

This piece is part of my Landscapes of the American West series. It is built up in layers of color and texture of different media. When viewed from an angle, the yellow of the pastels just pops out.

Rice paper is thin, so it is not usually chosen for watercolor pieces. I love the crinkly texture it gets when wet though, and I think it adds to the piece. To me it looks like life within, the texture mimics that of roots, or veins. (See the detail pictures for a closer look at this.) The rice paper is gently mounted on a more sturdy piece of paper to make framing easier.

This piece measures 16.5 x 34.5 inches (42 x 88 centimeters).

This listing does not include framing. This piece will ship rolled in a tube. This drawing is susceptible to damage from smudging and moisture, and should be kept framed under glass for best preservation.

This item ships carefully packaged in a sturdy tube, through priority mail with delivery confirmation and insurance, where available. If you would like it shipped flat, convo me for the increased shipping rate.

Many pieces in this series are inspired by the way I saw the color in the landscape. On a first look, the color appeared drab. Looking closer, there were colors and intensities I didn't expect.

This piece is a self-portrait I did while in college. It is very modern- the contours of the face are formed by abstract color blocks. This piece is done in oil paint on canvas paper.

Golden Fields is a pastel drawing of a prairie in Montana. I love to look at landscapes and pull out the colors that are hiding in them and enhance them. I have a large series of pastel landscapes of the American West already completed, so expect to see more posted soon.

This piece comes matted and framed in solid birch. It has a hangar for wall use as well as an easel stand for table display

The drawing measures approximately 5 x 7 inches (12.75 x 17.75 centimeters). The exterior dimensions of the frame are about 8 x 10.25 inches (20.25 x 26 centimeters.) You can see the full drawing in the first picture, and the full framed piece in the second.

This pastel drawing is part of a series of landscapes based on the American West - the Dakotas, Montana, and Wyoming. Many pieces in this series are inspired by the way I saw the color in the landscape. If you looked deep into the land, color appeared out of an apparently drab scene. I also found it very interesting how the different colors seemed to run in horizontal bands.

This drawing measures 18 x 22.5 inches (46 x 58 centimeters) The color is worked up in pastel, and then, in a method of my own, I worked over it in china marker, which gives it a slightly speckled look reminiscent of grainy photographs. See the detail pictures for a better idea on how this looks.

This listing does not include framing. This piece will ship rolled in a tube. Pastel drawings are delicate by nature, and should be kept framed under glass for best preservation, so I recommend that you get it framed as soon after purchase as possible.

This pastel drawing is part of a series of landscapes based on the American West - the Dakotas, Montana, and Wyoming. These cattle were grazing in a field just at the foothills of the rocky mountains. Don't they look like they're living the life! Life in the West is a pastel drawing of cattle ranch in Wyoming. Wyoming has incredible mountains of red rock, which look even more brilliant at sunset. It also has golden fields and prairies full of farms and ranches, cattle and oil wells. I think this little drawing does a good job of representing the area. This drawing is part of a large series of pastel landscapes of the American West.

This drawing is done on nut-brown card-stock which shows through the pastel. It measures 5.5 x 8.5 inches ( 14 x 21.5 centimeters). The framing is included, and wired for hanging. Each part of this triptych measures approximately 5 x 7 inches (12.75 x 17.75 centimeters)

These drawings were done on a lovely nut brown cardstock with fantastic texture that shows through the pastel. The title is inspired by the American folk tune "Bury Me Not on the Lone Prairie".

This piece is part of a series of landscapes based on the American West - the Dakotas, Montana, and Wyoming. It is framed in birch, and is wired to hang on your wall.

This drawing is based on the cemetary from the small Italian village of Triora. Triora is in the mountains of north-west Italy, very near to France. The cemetary is on the hill above the town, and there are amazing mountain views in all directions. See the 2nd image for the whole drawing.

This piece is made of oil pastel and pencil on mat board. I love mixing these two, because the oil pastel really enriches the tone of the pencil. It measures approximately 5.5 x 5.5 inches (14 x 14 cm).

Elefante di Roma (Elephant of Rome), Oil Pastel and Pencil drawing on Mat Board 5.5 x 5.5 inches

Rome is full of statues, which are often very elaborate and surprising. I found this elephant hiding in one of Rome's many piazzas.
